Good afternoon from Roda, apologies for the delayed report. I’ve been up to visit Steve’s grave and cooked dinner for my neighbours. Also done two loads of washing which I’ve managed to get dry. The shade temperature may not be great but in the sun, it is t-shirt weather. The day started off with an amazing dawn, with the moon still up and the sea awash with pink. There must have been a quick shower as my chair and the balcony rail were wet first thing. The morning stayed lovely with constant sunshine and just decorative clouds. The mainland was the clearest it has been for quite a while with fresh snow on the higher peaks.
Yesterday was mostly very nice with mostly sunshine after the early morning rain. Whilst we still had quite a lot of clouds it was mostly sunny. The breeze never really went away, but the white horses in the channel trotted off and we were left with a calm sea with gentle waves breaking on the shore. I missed the sunset, but my late evening check showed a sky with almost equal clouds to clear patches and some stars found room to shine. It was a cool 11.8°C at 10pm.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 1st January was 10.2°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 16.5°C, and the minimum was 11.8°C.
This day last year was a sunny and clear day, but very windy. The maximum temperature was 14.8°C and the minimum was 3.5°C.
The reported UV for Today is 1 (Range 1- 11+).

Good morning from Roda. A belated Happy New Year to everyone from Dave and me. We are hoping with all our hearts that we will see as many of you as possible out here in Roda in the coming year. Back to the weather. This morning dawned with cloudless blue skies and fresh snow on the higher Albanian peaks. I might have enjoyed breakfast on the balcony but we have an evil cold wind which is quite strong, so I retreated to the house. As the morning advances we are getting a few clouds over those Albanian mountains and hovering over ours. The sea is a lovely blue shade and calm, overall, it is a lovely January day.
Yesterday would have been a lovely day, with constant sunshine and the merest of breezes. I enjoyed a lovely walk around the village, it felt so good to be on the beach and walking along the sand. In the sun it was very war, t-shirt weather, but chilly in the shade. I was caught out by a brief late afternoon shower which soaked my washing which had been dry and about to be taken in. The day ended with a beautiful sunset and slipped into a clear night with just a few clouds around and a good representation of stars. It was cold at my late evening check registering only 9.7°C.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 2nd January was 11.8°C. Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 13.6°C, and the minimum was 8.2°C. This day last started off frosty, but we had wall to wall sunshine for the rest of the day. The maximum temperature was 13.1°C and the minimum was 1.2°C.
The reported UV for Today is 1 (Range 1- 11+).

Good morning from Roda. It was a very wet, but mild, night judging by the amount of water lying around. At 8am looking out of the north facing windows the scene was stunning with blue skies and towering sunlit bubbly clouds. But, looking out to the south showed dark ominous clouds to the south east towards Ipsos. I later found out that there had been a thunderstorm reported at Ano Korakiana! Albania was very clear across the calm sea with gentle waves coming ashore. The strong winds of yesterday are gone leaving just a gentle breeze. It is still a picture of two halves, almost cloud free to the north and grey and threatening to the south at 11am.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 3rd January was 13.6°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was noted for its strong blustery chilly winds, though we had plenty of sunshine which was very pleasant if you got out of those winds. It was a perfect day for getting your washing dried, if you could keep it on the washing line! Clouds did start to gather towards the late afternoon and produced a heavy shower of rain around 9pm before settling into more settled rain later on. Though when I checked at 10pm the rain was quite light and there some breaks in the cloud. It was a mild evening with that late evening temperature a pleasant 13.7°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 14.5°C, and the minimum was 8.9°C.
This day last started off frosty with plenty of mist settled in the valleys. The day was sunny with a few thin clouds developing during the day. The maximum temperature was 11.9°C and the minimum was 1.0°C.
The lowest shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January. The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The maximum recorded temperature ever in Corfu was 42.8°C The lowest recorded temperature was -8.8°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a very wet if mild night, with more standing water around. We have had rain more or less continuously since I got up. The murk did lift a bit so I got a glimpse of the mainland across the dark steel green choppy sea. I could definitely hear waves crashing on the shore. The murk over our hills lifts and descends at will and the mainland has gone missing. A day for staying in and doing those jobs you keep putting off, in my case I defrosted the small fridge. Feeling saintly now.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 4th January was 12.9°C. The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+), which I doubt seeing as I can’t even see the sky due to the thick rain filled clouds.
This is now!
Yesterday, despite a wet forecast, wasn’t a bad day. We had plenty of dry weather with some decent amounts of sun. The clouds did win the battle in the afternoon to completely cover the sky, but no rain, at least until late evening when I went to bed. The temperature dipped slightly in the late afternoon but rose to a reasonable 14.3°C. The blustery wind had died away by then. Again, I managed a walk around the village, not needing the light jacket I had taken in case.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 15.5°C, and the minimum was 12.3°C.
This day last year again started off frosty and clear but there was a steady increase in light clouds, but the moon could still be seen. The maximum temperature was 13.1°C and the minimum was 1.6°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a cooler night with probable rain, as there were wet areas that may or may not have been condensation. The morning broke beautifully with azure skies and towering bubbling clouds tinted pale gold with the new sun. Later on the picture was enhanced by the sun highlighting the brilliant white of the ferry to Igoumenitsa gliding down the channel. Albania is basking in the sun across the channel, you can almost count the buildings in the coastal villages. There is fresh snow on the higher peaks. A quick load put into the machine as today was supposed to be wet, but that seems to have been pushed into the evening now. But I am keeping an eye on the weather as the number of clouds seem to be increasing.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 5th January was 11.2°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a very wet day with almost constant rain, raining from a fine mizzle to a downright downpour. It was breezy at times and the sea got quite choppy with white horses in the channel and waves crashing onto the shore. When the clouds came down the mountain sides, almost it seemed to sea level it looked so dramatic. It certainly wouldn’t have been a very pleasant day in the mountain villages. They probably stayed in the clouds for the best part of the day. The rain did stop for a while in the late afternoon and we even got some scant patches of blue. There even was a sunset which did put on a little show despite those rainclouds. The evening seemed to be dry with clouds clearing enough to give quite a good show of stars in the southern sky at 10pm when the temperature was a cool 11.2°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 14.0°C, and the minimum was 12.1°C.
This day last year again started off very cloudy, windy with rough seas, clouds gathered in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 13.1°C and the minimum was 7.2°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a public holiday here for Epiphany, usually there are ceremonies where a cross gets thrown into the sea to be retrieved by brave young men, not even church services are allowed this year. Back to the weather. It may be mild, but it is very wet. We had a lot of heavy rain overnight, which was easing around 8am and was gone by around 9am. It was starting to get brighter with Albania appearing from the murk, but then we had a heavy shower around 11am. It is starting to brighten up again, so hopefully that was the last of the rain for today and I can get out for a walk. Strangely my weather station is showing sunny cloudless weather at this particular moment.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 6th January was 13.0°C. The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a much better day than the wet day forecast. The morning started off very promising after overnight rain with plenty of blue sky between the clouds. It did get cloudier during the day, but most of the cloud was lurking around the northern sky, whilst most of the sky to the south was clear. As the sun was fast sinking into the west thee was a very striking sky, so I dashed in and managed a quick photo. I missed the sunset as my neighbours came round to take my gas cylinders to be replaced. The late evening sky had just a few stars peeping out from behind the clouds. The whole day had been almost wind free but mild, with the late evening temperature 12.6°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 13.2°C, and the minimum was 9.2°C.
This day last year was clear and cloudless with wild seas, and fresh snow on the Albania peaks. The maximum temperature was 10.6°C and the minimum was 2.4°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a soggy old Corfu at the moment, mild but very wet. There was a thunderstorm around 4am which I think was quite short lived. The temperature then was around 15°C. When I did stir from my bed it was raining heavily, and it hasn’t stopped since. It does ease off marginally and the clouds, which are hovering mid-way down the mountains, retreat more towards the tops. Albania is lost in the murk across the calm looking sea, however, I can just about hear it above the noise of the rain. The only good thing that can be said about today is that it is mild.
The temperature at 10am on Thu7sday 6th January was 14.7°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a mostly miserable and wet day, sometimes very wet. There was a bit of a hint of lighter sky and the rain stopped mid-afternoon. I took courage in both hands, put on my waterproof shoes and coat and headed out for a walk as I hadn’t had one the previous day. It was guaranteed that I would get to the furthest point from home, outside Oscars when it started spitting with rain, but it didn’t come to much. I met quite a few people I knew on my walk, obviously everyone had the same idea. We only really got the odd spits and spots or light rain for the rest of the day, but were treated to an amazing lightning show in the early evening. Pure blinding white flashes lighting up the whole sky from over the mainland. The storm must have been a distance away as thunder couldn’t be heard. It was still wet and a mild 14°C at 10pm.
Taken from the carpark bridge yesterday whilst watching the very large shoals of small fish in the river.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 14.9°C, and the minimum was 12.2°C.
This day last year was clear and cloudless with wild seas, and cold with stunning clear views of the mainland. The maximum temperature was 11.5°C and the minimum was -1.1°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is crazy weather at the moment. Here we are on the 8th January and the temperature as I write this is 17.3°C! It was a warm night with the lowest temperature nearly 16°C. On the down side it is very cloudy with the sun battling to make its presence felt, succeeding occasionally. It is also quite breezy, with the wind still from the south, so everything outside is getting covered with a thin film of Saharan dust. Albania is still missing without leave across the channel, which looks flat calm, but I can hear noisy waves hitting the shore.
If you look carefully in the photo you can spot the first white narcissuses of the season. They just appeared suddenly. A lovely hint of spring.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 8th January was 16.8°C. The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was just a washout. After the early morning thunderstorm, we seemed to have rain all day. At times it was like stair rods, others it was just heavy rain. It did have a short break in the late afternoon, but it started up again for the rest of the evening. It was quite windy as well, which just added to the misery. I didn’t put a foot outside all day. The one sole redeeming factor as that it was very mild.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 15.8°C, and the minimum was 13.2°C.
This day last year was another clear, cold with stunning clear views of the mainland across the calm sea. The maximum temperature was 11.9°C and the minimum was -1.4°C.

Good morning from Roda. We had a lovely mostly blue sky first thing with just some streaky clouds to mar the picture. I rushed to get a load of washing in the machine, but may just have put a halt to the sunshine. As it is getting increasingly cloudy as the morning advances. There is a bit of a breeze so I am hopeful. The mainland is pretty clear across the calm sea of the channel. There was a layer of cloud that made it look like snow on the peaks. The temperature won’t be as high today but was still 17°C during the night cooling to around 15°C at dawn.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 9th January was 16.1°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was very warm despite the cloud and the threatening clouds hovering over the horizon. The sun really didn’t get a look in much, surprisingly. It was warm enough just to needing a top and jeans for my walk around the village. This warm weather is expected to continue for a couple more days. We did get some light rain in the late evening depositing a lovely layer of Saharan dust over everything. It was still 17°C at that 10pm check.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 18.2°C, and the minimum was 15.6°C.
This day last year was frosty clear and cold with stunning clear views of the mainland across the calm sea. The maximum temperature was 11.5°C and the minimum was 0.3°C.

Good morning from Roda. And so, the warm weather continues with the temperature as I write this is a balmy 17°C. There was evidence of a rain during the night. It is still very cloudy, though the sun is making a valiant attempt at breaking through so it is very bright. Most of the cloud is in the northern sky with some breaks in the south. Albania is lost across a channel that has small white horses playing on the surface, with noisy waves coming ashore. There is quite a breeze, but still feels nice and warm, amazing temperatures for the 10th January!
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 10th January was 16.8°C. The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday started off warm with plenty of blue amongst the clouds, but the clouds won the battle. It was warm though despite the amount of cloud, though we did get the occasional glimpse of the sun in the afternoon. The light breeze stayed with us and the sea was calm looking with gentle waves coming ashore. It stayed dry, warm and cloudy for the rest of the day, with a pleasant 16°C at 10pm.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 17.0°C, and the minimum was 14.9°C.
This day last year was frosty (we had a frozen cold water pipe) clear and cold with stunning clear views of the mainland across the calm sea. The maximum temperature was 12.3°C and the minimum was 1.7°C.

Good morning from Roda. Oh, what a night!!! We had gale force winds battering both the front and the back of the apartment. In the early hours I was outside trying to rescue the gardening cabinets on the balcony. It was literally trying to literally tearing them apart and scatter their contents to the four winds. The kitchen sink stored on top of them has ended up on the lawn after the cabinets got blown over! I had to rescue chairs and some of the more exposed plants which are still in my kitchen. It was gone 2am before I felt I had done enough to secure everything. I have lost only a couple of plants, though one might be recoverable when I check it later when the weather improves. The frightening winds eased a little only to give way to a thunderstorm and some rain. This morning dawned dark and threatening with Albania gone across a very agitated looking dark grey sea. The clouds and murk are well down our mountainsides. It won’t be a pleasant day in the mountain villages. It started with steady rain just after 10am and looks settled in for the day at the moment. It is still very mild though with the dawn temperature just shy of 18°C.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 11th January was 17.5°C. The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a cloudy day with increasingly strong winds, a sea looking ruffled out in the channel but with gentle waves coming ashore. It was a very warm day which made my walk around the village too warm for my light jacket. The evening brought very strange gale force winds battering both balconies and sending things flying. It was still warm though with the 10pm temperature just shy of 20°C!
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 19.5°C, and the minimum was 15.5°C.
This day last year was milder, cloudy and very hazy with rain from the middle of the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 10.8°C and the minimum was 4.9°C.

Good morning from Roda. What lovely morning to wake up to, that is after the earthquake at 9.26 am. It was only 3.9 and 40kms north west of Corfu. For once I heard a crack and the bed shook for a few seconds. Opening the curtains showed a world of blue skies with steaky clouds apart from the usual topping on the Albanian peaks. Albania could have been clearer across a blue and choppy sea with cream toped waves coming ashore and a growing herd of white horses as the morning advanced. It was a cooler morning, but lovely to have the kitchen door open to welcome in the sun. There is a bit of a breeze to take the edge of the heat of sun.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 12th January was 13.9°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday started off with thunder in the early hours with some rain, and by the time I opened the curtains the sea was very dark and ominous, and there were clouds and murk covering our mountain tops. We had steady rain during the morning, clearing by around mid-day giving us a dry afternoon. All the while it was cooling from the midnight high of nearly 20°C. The clouds did manage to break up enough by late afternoon to give a single patch of blue and a good attempt at a sunset. The clouds though returned during the evening and my late-night check it was dry but no stars to be seen. It was still a mild 16°C at 10.30pm.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 19.5°C, but daytime maximum was 17.2°C, and the minimum was 16.0°C.
This day last year was warmer with fresh snow on the Albanian peaks, a day of sunshine and clouds. The maximum temperature was 14.6°C and the minimum was 8.6°C.

Good morning from Roda. Well it was a good morning when I first peered out as I drew the curtains. We had a nice mixed of blue sky and mostly inoffensive looking clouds. The sea was a strange almost olive green in colour with big waves coming ashore from quite a distance out in the channel. Albania was missing from across that channel. It was still very breezy as it had been through the night. An night time trip to the bathroom I could hear the raging waves and the constant tap of the toggle on the mosquito net against the window caused by the wind from the north. The nice outlook didn’t last long as the clouds gathered to completely cover the sky, with the murk descending well down the mountainsides behind Roda. I was looking at the forecast for today, cloudy with plenty of sunshine when the heavens opened! That rain wasn’t forecast until this evening. The temperature is starting to fall slightly.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 13th January was 12.3°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday wasn’t a bad day overall. Which was a good thing as the strong winds of the previous night had done serious damage to Steve’s cabinets on the balcony and I was forced to empty one and attempt to dismantle it. The cabinet had done well, but the amount of hot sun it experienced had weakened the plastic, which was actually breaking down. Much as I loved Steve, I could have cheerfully strangled him for the amount of sheer junk in it that I know have in my kitchen till I can sort through it and get rid of the vast majority! The day was mostly sunny, though there was a very big cloud in the afternoon that did a good job of hiding the sun. Even so it was pleasant enjoying my late lunch on the balcony. It was very windy, but thankfully coming from the north, so working on the south balcony I was protected. I went out later on in the afternoon combining a walk with a shopping trip in the village. It was brazing to say the least along the seafront, but stunningly beautiful as the sunset was just getting into its stride.
The waves could still be heard during the evening, but at the late evening check the sky seemed to have mostly cleared and we had a lovely display of stars. It was, however, still very windy. The temperature was still a reasonable 13°C at 10.30pm.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 15.8°C, but daytime maximum was 14.2°C, and the minimum was 12.7°C.
This day last year was warm and mostly clear with enough clouds gathering towards the evening to give a pretty sunset. The maximum temperature was 15.0°C and the minimum was 5.9°C.

Good morning from Roda. And what a glorious morning it is. I woke early and was pleased to see that the windows had cleared of the condensation from the previous evening. I was treated to startling clear views of the sunrise creeping across the Albanian peaks with their fresh covering of snow. The thunderstorm that was raging overhead during the night with strong winds and driving rain had gone. The air was crystal clear, the sea was calming down and a deep blue/ green in colour. It was cloudless first thing but a few clouds are now gliding across the blue sky. The one blot on the horizon is that it is chilly, but on the south balcony the sun is pleasantly warm.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 14th January was 9.7°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was completely unlike the forecast for it. OK the forecasters had the elements right, but in totally the wrong order. We were supposed to have a lovely sunny day with some clouds with rain in the evening and maybe a thunderstorm. What we got was a very heavy shower of rain with a completely cloudy sky as my weather station was still saying sunshine. Some parts of the island got such a lot of hail it looked like snow! The afternoon did dry up but remained cloudy and still breezy, but with such clear air, the views of Albania were so lovely, my friend and I sat in the car and just stared. Albania was almost in full sun so the detail made it appear so close. The seas were still rough, so the open ferries were still confined to port as they had been for a few days. There was heavy rain on and off during the evening, but at my check at 10.30pm there were quite a lot of stars but lightning was surrounding us. I hadn’t been in bed long when the storm hit with heavy rain in the strong wind battering the windows.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 13.1°C after midnight but 12.6 during the day, and the minimum was 10.6°C.
This day last year was warm and mostly clear with a few clouds and a flat calm sea. The maximum temperature was 14.2°C and the minimum was 5.9°C.

Good morning from Roda. We are blessed with another beautiful start of the day. Again, I was lucky to be able to sit up in bed with my cup of tea and watch the rosy fingers of dawn creep along the snow on the Albanian peaks. The picture was later enhanced by the sight of the Minoan ferry to Igoumenitsa and Patras glide past more or less on time. The sea turned a beautiful peacock green colour with white capped large waves coming shore. There is a bit of a breeze making it feel extra chilly with the low temperature. The sun is streaming into the kitchen at the moment, so sitting here and getting a bit warm, but it is only 10°C!
The temperature at 10am on Friday 15th January was 9.0°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday started off with such promise with those beautiful views and a clear blue sky, however the clouds started creeping in. They won the battle for the skies by early afternoon. The breeze dropped right away so it was not unpleasant to be outside. Early evening saw the clouds and murk creep down the mountains behind us and Albania was fading away. We got a spell of steady rain before drying up to give a cloudy and cool evening. It was still cloudy at 10.30pm with the temperature 10.3°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 12.2°C, and the minimum was 8.1°C.
This day last year was warm and mostly clear, with fresh snow on the Albanian mountains across the calm sea. The maximum temperature was 14.2°C and the minimum was 4.7°C.
