Good morning from Roda. Well that’s the only good one you are getting out of me, probably for the whole day. I awoke to gentle but steady rain with low clouds hiding much of our mountains and the rain hiding the mainland completely from view. There is no wind and the sea is silent, though higher up on the mountains they are enveloped in clouds but are also getting a cold wind straight off the snow fields of Albania. There has been no change in the steady rain as I pottered about showering and breakfasting.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 13th February was 10.8°C. Real feel 10°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday started off very nice with plenty of sunshine, even though the temperature was not that great in the shade, but out in the sunshine it was very hot. So, breakfast out on the balcony as was my coffee and lunch. My early afternoon walk to the shops only needed a cardigan, even along the seafront it was still very pleasant. The big waves of the previous days were noticeably easing as was the breeze. Late afternoon saw a gathering of clouds, until by the time the sun was seeking its rest there was a complete covering and we barely got a hint of any sunset, just a slight flushing of the western clouds. The evening stayed cloudy, with no real breeze and a cool 11.7°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 14.3°C, and the minimum was 11.7°C (overnight low 12.9°C).
This day last year was mostly clear with only wispy clouds, pleasantly hot in the sun. The maximum temperature was 16.1°C and the minimum was 7.3°C.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES 2020 The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.

Good afternoon from Roda. We have a much better day than was forecast with plenty of blue sky and sunshine amidst the clouds. During the night the wind steadily increased and with it the sea. I did have a very short debate over whether to get up and investigate the noises I was hearing on the balconies, but decided that a check first thing would be enough. I opened the curtains to a very wild and rough seas with big waves right across the channel. The wind was very strong and very cold if you stood out in it. The night time noises were only the plastic chairs being shoved around and a plastic tray for a plant trough taking wing and ending up in the garden! Albania is only there as a shape across the raging channel. The open sided ferries will be cancelled today.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 14th February was 6.8°C. Real feel 3°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was just miserable all day. The rain was either torrential or just a steady downpour with barely any change in tempo. The winds were gentle for the most part but started picking up at times up times. It was calm at my late evening check, still cloudy and still raining in a gentle way. I switched on the Greek TV in the evening and it was like being back home. The news just opened with the forecast of bad weather. There was footage of snow, snow ploughs and councils doling out salt. Most of the extremely cold temperatures were in the north where they were experiencing negative double figures. The weather even pushed out the daily covid report. The late evening temperature was 11.8°C feeling several degrees lower.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 12.0°C, and the minimum was 10.6°C.
This day last year was cloudy with periods of rain throughout the day ending with a thunderstorm. The maximum temperature was 15.3°C and the minimum was 8.7°C.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES 2020 The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.

Good morning from Roda. And what a morning it is, sparkling clear air, almost clear blue skies with just a few wispy clouds decorating it. The mainland mountains gleam in the sun with their fresh coating of pristine snow. The sea is a stunning shade of blue flecked white with tiny white horses. There is quite a stiff breeze though that takes the already low temperature down a notch or two. We were lucky in that we didn’t get an overnight frost, though I did wrap Steve’s large cactus up to protect it. I have my first load of washing out, but oh, it was so cold in that vicious wind that blasted round the corner of the apartment block. I will be heading out for a good walk round the village as I need some groceries.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 15th February was 4.5°C. Real feel 2°C.
The reported UV for Today is 4(Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday started off really quite nice with plenty of sunshine despite gathering clouds. By the afternoon we had a complete covering of clouds but the strong winds of the morning were easing as were the waves. I wrapped up well for a walk around the village, thankfully the wind was having a breather as I got to the sea front. It all looked very grey and moody, but I love the views whatever the weather (except when it is a winter downpour when I stay tucked up at home). We had a brief glimpse of the sun after I got home and the temperature went up a degree in response. Then we had a very brief flurry of snow, with other parts of the island, especially the higher villages getting more. Mainland Greece got quite a covering with northern Greece having sub-zero temperatures. The wind increased slightly again and blew the clouds away. There were still enough around at sunset that all we could see was a pale band on the western horizon. The late evening check showed clear skies and feeling very cold in the wind with the temperature 4.1°C feeling more like -1°C. Naturally I didn’t stick around too long on the balcony.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 11.8°C, and the minimum was 4.1°C. (overnight low 6.2°C)
This day last year saw fresh snow on the mainland. The day was sunny with an increasing wind, very warm in the sun, the clear skies continued into the night.

It is a stunning morning here, with almost clear blue skies graced with some lenticular clouds caused by the cold air over those Albanian Alps. The air is crystal clear so we have gorgeous views of those snow-capped mountains across the bright blues and greens of the sea. The colours are enhanced by the white foam of the white horse and waves for as far as the eye can see. The sea started out merely ruffled but as the morning has advanced the white horses and waves started to appear. There is a chilly little breeze that catches you out, it chased me indoors to finish my breakfast off.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 16th February was 6.6°C. Real feel 5°C.
The reported UV for Today is 4(Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was lovely to look at but oh so cold when you went out in it. The low humidity ensured that we had lovely views of all that snow on the mainland. Any clouds that had been around were mostly gone by the end of the afternoon. I enjoyed my usual walk around the village and took a couple of photos by top gear of the snowy mountains behind the village and the stunning yellow seed heads of the tree catching the sunlight. It was very pleasant until I reached the seafront, then the strong wind caught me. Boy, was it cold! I had to stop and zip up my jacket. It stayed beautiful to look at but so uncomfortable to walk with that cold wind whipping any heat away from your body. As soon as I turned the corner into the lane by Nino’s the wind was gone and it was pleasant again. The sunset was lovely with a single perfectly shaped cloud being back-lit by the dying sun, before the sky turned orange and then gradually the snow field were being washed in palest pink. It was a clear cold starlit night with the late evening temperature 7.3°C but real feel closer to 2°C!
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 8.3°C real feel 6°C and the minimum was 3.8°C.
This day last was clear and sunny with a few clouds, very hot in the sun. The maximum temperature was 15.4°C and the minimum was 4.9°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is another beautiful morning here, with lovely blue skies and just a few picturesque clouds floating around. The high winds of yesterday eased during the night and the sea calmed with just gentle waves coming ashore. It was very cold first thing with the temperature a very chilly 1.8°C. I was debating whether there was a frost when I looked out at 8am, if thee was it was very light. Breakfast was enjoyed on the balcony as it felt warmer out there than in the house!
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 17th February was 6.3°C. Real feel 6°C.
The reported UV for Today is 4(Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was just so beautiful with low humidity and very clear air it felt like Albania was within touching distance, every thing could be seen in such detail. The sea got very choppy with white horses and white foam topped waves coming ashore. It was nice and warm in the sun on my sheltered balcony with the temperature a pleasant 23°C whilst on the ignored north balcony it was a chilly 9°C. It got very cloudy in the mid-afternoon, before they all just melted away to leave a practically cloudless sky with only a few lenticular clouds to the north. The sunset was pretty with a band of burnt orange to the west then the clouds and the snows of Albania flushing pink. The night sky was clear and starlit and a cool 9.1°C , real feel 9°C, at 10.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 9.8°C real feel 10°C and the minimum was 4.6°C.
I am always disappointed with trying to capture the magical colours at sunset.
This day last was mostly a sunny day with some clouds occasionally getting in the way, followed by a clear starlit night. The maximum temperature was 14.4°C and the minimum was 5.6°C.

We had a very mild night with the maximum reaching almost 12°C before dropping to a cool 9.2°C. It was another glorious morning when I opened the front door and looked out. We had mostly blue skies with just some pretty clouds drifting around, but they mostly burned off by the late morning. There is almost no breeze now, but first thing there was a slight chill to it. There is also just a slight haze which is blurring the outlines of the mainland across the beautiful and calm sea. I enjoyed my breakfast on the balcony and it was almost too warm for my dressing gown. My coffee break later on just required a t-shirt and was definitely on the hot side and I got chased into the cool of the house. It may only be 12°C in the shade but a toasty 40°C in full sun!
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 18th February was 10.5°C. Real feel 11°C.
The reported UV for Today is 4(Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a mostly sunny day with almost cloudless skies, but in the mid-afternoon, we got quite an accumulation which hid the sun just as I was trying to enjoying my lunch on the balcony. The wind stayed gentle and the sea calm. However, the clouds did mostly disperse shortly after only to gather in time to make the sunset an example of nature at its best. We did have a slight haze across the channel. The clouds continued to breed and by my late evening check they had covered the sky. It was a mild 10.9°C at 10pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 11.8°C real feel 12°C and the minimum was 1.8°C.
This day last gave us a mostly clear sky with a slight haze, calm sea and a gentle but chilly wind. The maximum temperature was 15.2°C and the minimum was 6.8°C.

I was snoozing in my bed when the sun got up, but an early bird took some amazing photos of the red dawn sky. When I put my nose out of the door to check out what we had in store, there was either a light frost or a very heavy level of dew. I am erring toward a frost even though the temperatures weren’t that low. During my night time excursions to the bathroom I could hear a very noisy sea, but it was all calm this morning. Opening the curtains revealed a lovely blue sky streaked with a few pathetic attempts at clouds. The mainland is only slightly veiled with haze. So, all-in-all, we are going to have another lovely day. I had my breakfast again on the balcony basking in the sun even though the shade temperature hadn’t reached double figures yet.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 19th February was 8.6°C. Real feel 9°C.
The reported UV for Today is 4(Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was just a lovely day from start to finish. Endless blue skies, if there were any clouds, I missed them! The sea was calm with just small gentle waves coming ashore. The wind was equally wind, only feeling cool if you were in an exposed position near the sea. When ever possible I was out on the balcony roasting in the sun, with the temperature reaching a tropical 40°C. The sun on the windows inspired me to clean them, lovely on the front but oh so chilly on that north balcony. The sunset was not that spectacular due to the lack of clouds, so the sky just turned all shades of burnt orange shading to deep blue. The evening was clear at my late night check with plenty of stars around with the temperature still just in double figures at 10°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 14.1°C real feel 14°C and the minimum was 9.2°C.
This day last year was very hazy only easing a bit for the evening. It was also very cloudy with only rare blue patches. The maximum temperature was 15.0°C and the minimum was 6.4°C.

It was a very cloudy start to the day, quite dramatic with a curving band of pale cloud over the mainland beneath a much darker sky. By the time I was moving, which I had to do before my usual time as I had an appointment with my accountant. Doing anything official here has just got complicated from 1st January, as we now need a biometric residency card to do anything from renewing health books, buying a phone or telephone services and even a car. Unfortunately, there are too few staff in the alien police department to answer phones to get an appointment for the sheer number of ex-pats. My appointment isn’t until the end of March, and I am hearing of appointments going into May! I am hoping my accountant knows a way for me to buy a car without having to wait until mid-April when I should get my card. Anyway, sorry for digressing, back to the weather. The clouds are starting to break up with the sun making an appearance, though it has just decided to hide behind a cloud. There isn’t much of a breeze and the sea is flat calm. The mainland isn’t as clear as it could be. It is a pretty watercolour type of morning.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 20th February was 10.2°C. Real feel 10°C.
The reported UV for Today is 4(Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a lovely and sunny day with only wispy streaks of clouds and some small fluffy clouds around but never getting in the way of the sun. The wind was never more than just a gentle breeze and the sea remained calm. Albania was veiled with the haze across the channel. I spent the whole day outdoors, either melting on the balcony or taking a long walk to Acharavi and back. The day ended in a truly magnificent sunset due to the pretty clouds that turned up at just the right time. The evening stayed a mixture of clouds and clear patches for the stars to peep through in the breaks. It was still 10°C at my 10pm check.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 13.7°C real feel 14°C and the minimum was 4.8°C.
This day last year started with a thunderstorm and stayed very windy and wet with raging sea before clearing for the sunset. The maximum temperature was 13.3°C and the minimum was 9.8°C.

Good morning from Roda. What can I say about the perfect start to the day with clear blue completely cloudless skies, a flat calm sea and the merest hint of a breeze? OK, the temperature could have been a bit higher, but I still enjoyed my breakfast on the balcony in the sun. There is a bit of a haze towards the mainland, and we can see that the snow is quickly melting from the south facing slopes.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 21stFebruary was 10.2°C. Real feel 10°C.
The reported UV for Today is 4(Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was lovely all day with almost constant sunshine and very warm if you got in a sheltered spot in the sun. there were some clouds floating around in the blue heavens, which occasionally got in the way of the sun for brief moments. On my sheltered balcony I didn’t get to feel the breeze, but it was strong enough to send the Greek flag over the Med. Corner Shop streaming. The sea was calm with barely a ripple on it. The sunset was very pretty with a cloud being conveniently in the right spot to be backlit as the sun retired behind it. We enjoyed the golden light before everything was flushed pink and the dark crept over the landscape and I could draw the curtains with another show over for the day. My late-night check showed that we still had some clouds around but thee were also enough gaps to show the stars off. The temperature was just into double figures at 10.3°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 14.2°C real feel 14°C and the minimum was 7.1°C.
A couple of pics from my afternoon walk around the village and the pretty sunset.
This day last year we had clear skies and fresh snow on the mountains opposite. There was a cool breeze and white topped waves. The maximum temperature was 13.3°C and the minimum was 4.4°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was another perfect cloudless and calm start to the day. I was in the kitchen making a very early morning cup of tea and the sky was just starting to flush with the sunrise. But, back to bed until a more reasonable hour. There is a bit of a haze marring the view of the mainland across a very calm channel. There is a bit of a breeze which felt cool, but the sun hadn’t got into its stride then. Breakfast on the balcony is becoming the norm, and we are due another 10 days like this!
The temperature at 10am on Monday 22nd February was 10.0°C. Real feel 10°C.
The reported UV for Today is 4(Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was lovely with clear skies all day except for a time in the afternoon when a few dared to appear. It was very warm again in the sun with the heat on the balcony actually chasing me into the house as it was too hot. I enjoyed a couple of walks around the village one for shopping and one for exercise. The last one finished with me walking along the seafront. The golden light on Acharavi and Almyros as seen from Roda was so pretty against and impossible shade of pale blue/ green almost pale jade of the flat calm sea. Those clouds that were around didn’t had a huge amount to the sunset, but it was still lovely with such pretty view from my north balcony of the sea and mainland flushing pink. My late evening check showed a sky composing of clouds and stars. It was 10.3°C at 10pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 14.8°C real feel 15°C and the minimum was 7.2°C.
A photo from my afternoon walk around the village.
This day last year was a mostly clear day with clouds only stuck on the mainland peaks. The maximum temperature was 13.6°C and the minimum was 4.9°C.

Good morning from Roda. This wonderful weather here is continuing with it forecast to continue for at least the next ten days. So, I woke up to clear skies and a very slight haze which very slightly veiled the mainland but was worse towards our mountains. The wind was gentle and the sea calm. Breakfast is now a ritual taken on the balcony basking in the sun watching my neighbours starting to prune their vines. Peace is now shattered as my landlord is doing his yearly drastic pruning of the plane trees in the garden. His mum, Antigone, is busy pruning her roses. I have noticed on my walks around the village that many people are doing their vines at the moment. I even saw Evangalitsa, who runs the Marilee apartments and is around my age, atop her step ladder busy pruning her overhead vines. The weather was so nice on Sunday that she broke out the barbeque for the Sunday lunch.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 23rd February was 11.0°C. Real feel 11°C.
The reported UV for Today is 4(Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was just beautiful all day. I had a couple of walk out in the village. The first one was to my accountant to check that Steve had been removed from the tax system, which he had. I then changed my code for being out and did a little shopping, returning home via Road 1. The wild flowers are really getting into their stride now. The second walk took me to visit Steve and do a little gardening to tidy up his grave. There was a time of reflection as there was a new grave for a small Albanian boy who recently lost his life to his genetic disability. He was frequently seen in the village in the summer riding his bike with the thinnest legs ever. We barely saw any clouds all day, the wind remained kind and the sea with barely a ripple. There was nothing to make the sunset anything more than a bit of a non- event! The night was starlit when I did my late night check and a reasonable 11.0°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 14.5°C real feel 15°C and the minimum was 6.6°C.
This day last year was sunny with a little high cloud and a great sunset and starlit night. The maximum temperature was 15.2°C and the minimum was 3.8°C.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES 2020 The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.
