Good morning from Roda. It was another mild night, and I awoke to strong winds blowing Steve’s cabinet over on the south balcony. We are due strong winds with gusts approaching 40mph. What we have are dark ominous clouds and the murk coming down our mountains and the mainland is all but lost in the same murk. The sea is flat calm and that beautiful luminous green it goes just before a storm. What a difference a day makes, no basking in the sun on the balcony. The second photo shows how the wild narcissi have spread over that bit of the garden that is uncultivated.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 31st January was 14.0°C. Real feel 14°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was just a glorious spring day with almost wall to wall sunshine. We only lost the sun when it passed behind an inconveniently placed cloud. It was quite breezy, so felt cooler along the beach front, but hey, it was the 30th January, and if you could find a sheltered spot it was lovely and warm. I enjoyed a late lunch finishing off the telegraph cryptic basking in 27°C heat. OK it was 15°C in the shade, and the temperature quickly dropped. The sea was calm as the wind was coming from the south. The day ended with a truly glorious sunset leading onto a starry moonlit night and not too chilly with the late evening temperature still in double figures at 10.3°C. I am just letting the photos speak for me.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 14.8°C, and the minimum was 13.2°C.
This day last year was mostly clear apart from a short spell when a few more clouds gathered. The evening was mostly clear and starlit. The maximum temperature was 14.4°C and the minimum was 4.8°C.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES 2020 The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.

Good afternoon from Roda. Kalo mena for the 1st February, have a good month. I am sorry for the very late report but a friendly neighbour volunteered to take me to Acharavi to start off getting my Biometric registration by getting a form from the town hall. Now to get an appointment with the alien police in town! We also managed to take a lot of the rubbish bags that I had filled with Steve’s junk. I also managed to get replacement bulbs for my kitchen light. I have been without light there for a couple of weeks. Luckily there was enough light coming from the dining end. After a mild night I awoke to a pleasant start to the day with plenty of blue amongst the clouds. I even managed to get a quick breakfast on the balcony. However, the clouds were gathering rapidly and the sun was soon lost, there are still moments of brightness and we have had only a brief spell of spitting rain. The sea was flat calm and that lovely jade green again, but Albania started fading away on the other side of the channel. We went for a little drive down to Almyros to while away the time until my appointment with KEP. There was so much standing water in the fields and some of the roads were seriously flooded!
The temperature at 10am on Monday 1st February was 13.2°C. Real feel 12°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a stormy day with only brief interludes when we got some respite especially in the early afternoon. The winds certainly felt as though they were not far off the 40mph that was forecast. With those winds came driving rain. Then to cap it all we had a thunder and lightning storm passing over us. It did all come to an end by 10pm when the rain stopped and we saw breaks in the clouds, enough to allow a few stars to shine. It was 13.6°C at that late night check.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 15.6°C, and the minimum was 9.7°C.
This day last year was a clear and sunny day with only a few clouds gathering in the early afternoon. The maximum temperature was 15.3°C and the minimum was 6.0°C.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES 2020 The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.

Good morning from Roda. We had a mild but damp night with the temperature staying in double figures and there was evidence of a period of rain. It is a bit of a strange morning with alternating periods of promising weather with sunshine or brightness and patches of blue, with times when the clouds come down and hide our mountains and almost completely hide the mainland from view. The one good thing is that it is quite mild, there is only a gentle breeze and the calm sea is that wonderful shade of pale jade.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 2nd February was 13.6°C. Real feel 13°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday wasn’t actually a bad day. It was a mix of sunshine and clouds with a rare spell of light drizzle. In fact, the weather was a mixed bag at any one time. You could see areas with sunshine scattered about the mainland and Corfu, whilst ominous dark clouds hovered over other rest. The day though was quite calm with a very calm sea just lapping the shore. I was returning from my afternoon walk when it started to drizzle, but I could sea Almyros and Acharavi bathed in sunshine together with large areas of the mainland. We just drew the short straw!
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 15.5°C, and the minimum was 12.0°C.
This day last year was mostly cloudy for us with the mainland gone. There was an attempt by the clouds to break in the evening. The maximum temperature was 14.8°C and the minimum was 8.8°C.

We may have had some overnight rain as my balcony rails were wet. It was a cold night with the temperature dropping to just over 8°C. My first peak out of the window gave me a lovely view of the moon still up, floating in the pink remans of the sunrise. This morning brought clear, cloudless skies, no wind and a flat calm sea with great views of the mainland. The highest mainland peaks were gleaming white with the fresh covering of snow. Breakfast was enjoyed in the warm sun on the balcony.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 4th February was 11°C. Real feel 11°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday wasn’t as bad as they had forecast. It was cloudy, with those clouds and murk creeping down our mountains and, at times, hiding the mainland from view. We did had a couple of short showers during the day, one very early on before I was really awake, the other around four in the afternoon. But we did have some sunshine and blue patches in the sky and if it was cloudy it could be bright. I sat and watched the changing light over the mainland sipping my afternoon tea in the lounge. The late evening sky gave us plenty of breaks in the clouds to allow stars to shine.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 15.1°C, and the minimum was 10.8°C.
This day last year was mostly clear for us with only a few fleeting clouds in the afternoon. The maximum temperature was 15.8°C and the minimum was 7.7°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was another cold night, not unexpected with such clear skies. I awoke to sunshine but quite a decent amount of cloud, which quickly started burning off as the sun got into its stride. As I write this the cloud has been banished to the periphery. There is some degree of haze veiling the mainland across the very calm sea, there is not much in the way of wind either. It was so warm on the balcony that I didn’t need my dressing gown over my nightie to enjoy my breakfast on the balcony.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 3rd February was 10.7°C. Real feel 11°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a wonderful day, so hot in the sun. It felt like summer if you kept out of the shade. We had clear skies for most of the day, we did get some clouds caught on the mountain tops on both sides of the channel. These clouds were reduced to mere threads by the time the sun was seeking its bed. The temperature on the balcony soared despite the meagre shade temperature of 14°C. As you can see from the photo it hit over 40°C!
I had such a lovely walk around the village enjoying that magical pre- sunset golden light, savouring every change in the view. I know my photos don’t do it justice, but I hope you enjoy them anyway. That lovely light preceded a stunning monochromatic sunset leading onto a clear and starlit night. It was a cool 10.6°C at bedtime.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 14.1°C, and the minimum was 8.5°C.
This day last year started off with a mix of clouds and sun but the clouds won and the sun lost, got increasingly windy. The maximum temperature was 16.6°C and the minimum was 7.7°C.

Good morning from Roda. After a cold night I opened my curtains to another lovely day with blue, blue skies streaked with the thinnest clouds. Albania is affected by the slight haze across the calm sea not ruffled because there is no wind. The beautiful halcyon days we have enjoyed will soon be ending in a typical Corfiot way with wind preceding thunderstorms. It was another day where I enjoyed breakfast and a pathetic attempt at the crossword on the balcony. Today I am tackling something I have put off for way too long. I am heading to town and getting our Greek bank account changed into my name only. Probably the last piece of officialdom to do. I am worried though, with all the bars and restaurants closed what do you do if you need to spend a penny, or out here a cent or lepta? It is long way to town and back!
The temperature at 10am on Friday 5th February was 11.4°C. Real feel 11°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was such a lovely day warm almost from the time the sun got up and until it sank beneath the western horizon. The clouds, in varying thicknesses, cam and went throughout the day. Sometimes thicker and masking the sun for a while to much thinner stuff which barely hindered the power of the sun. I enjoyed being able to have my lunch and coffee breaks outside in the sunI had used the lovely weather to get rid of some of Steve’s junk using the car I had hired from Dromeas. Even though a tad cloudy my late afternoon walk was enjoyed in definitely t-shirt weather. Whilst the previous day the light had been golden, yesterday it was as though the world was painted in delicate watercolours. The day ended with a very pretty flush of pink on the streaks of clouds. The evening was chilly with some residual clouds as there weren’t that many stars to be seen at my late evening check.
Episkepsi dreaming in the late afternoon sun
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 15.6°C, and the minimum was 8.8°C.
This day last year was bitingly cold due to the high winds. The sea was wild, there was sun in the morning but became completely cloudy for rest of the day. The maximum temperature was 14.9°C and the minimum was 10.0°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a mild night just about staying in double figures. When I did have a look out from the north balcony, we had cloudless blue sky, I was ignoring the one or two small streaks of clouds. There was some haze which slightly hid the details. To the south we had barely a cloud and a sliver of a setting moon. There was no wind and the sea was flat calm. I enjoyed an early breakfast on the balcony basking in the sun. I have just been chased in to do the report as the temperature in the sun has risen to 43°C, with a shade temperature of 15.5°C.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 6th February was 12.5°C. Real feel 13°C.

Yesterday in Roda was a lovely mostly cloud-free day, but I had to go to the bank by the port and going over the top it got very cloudy and I was worried that just going out in jeans and a top was enough. It seemed to stay cloudy for most of the way, but parking up the sun was there and I had a delightful stroll to and from the bank. I had been putting off removing Steve from the account details worried that it would be a hassle. But it was no problem and I came away with a card and new pin number in no time at all. Business over I really enjoyed the drive back admiring the scenery and the almond trees in blossom. Had a quick cuppa on the balcony then headed out for a walk. Met up with people not seen for ages and enjoyed a socially distance catch up. Top of everybody’s mind at the moment is getting the new biometric resident cards. So please I have my appointment booked. The late afternoon was still quite warm and the views across t the mainland were stunning across the sea that barely had a ripple on it. There were a few streaky clouds that helped the sunset, but the magic came from the pink wash that had been applied to the whole world that I could see from the balcony. Stunning, and breath taking. The evening was cool with only a handful of stars gracing the sky. It was 11.2°C at 10.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 15.6°C, and the minimum was 9.1°C.
This day last year cold and very windy with raging seas. Morning clouds melted to give a fairly clear late afternoon. The maximum temperature was 11.3°C and the minimum was 8.8°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was another mild night with the temperature safely in double figures, only falling to just about 12°C. I never make dawn, but the very tail end that I caught showed a pretty blue sky streaked with pink tinged clouds. By the time I emerged from my bedroom after the essential cup of tea, the blue sky was losing its battle with the clouds. By the time I took my 10am readings we had 100% cloud cover, but it is bright with the sun trying to make itself known. It may have read almost 17°C, but, without the sun, it did feel cool. The southerly wind is picking up steam having consigned my watering can and large plant pot bass to the ground from the balcony. It is supposed to get extremely windy by tonight and the wind is due to change bringing in the freezing air from the north by this time next week. The sea is a dark shade of grey and slightly ruffled in appearance.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 7th February was 16.8°C. Real feel 17°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday in Roda was just a beautiful day again. Extremely warm in the sun with t-shirts and shorts being dug out by some people. The full sun temperature touched 43°C whilst barely in the mid-teens in the shade. Though the shade temperature did get to a lovely 18°C at the warmest point. The slight haze persisted, and the sea remained calm, but there was a slight afternoon breeze that ruffled the trees for a while. A scattering of clouds on the periphery came and went, and had all gone by the tired sun was seeking its bed, just leaving some very thin streaks behind. The sun sank in a monochromatic band of burnt orange, before the world got washed with pastel pinks. The temperature quickly dropped once the influence of the sun was gone. We had some stars and a cool 12.5°C at 10.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 17.7°C, and the minimum was 10.3°C.
This day last year after a frosty start was sunny and almost cloudless, with a calming sea and winds easing .The maximum temperature was 11.9°C and the minimum was 2.6°C.

Good morning from Roda. We had a very windy night but warm with things getting thrown around the balcony. Fortunately, Steve’s cabinet had already been placed on the floor, but it was still blown around but luckily no more damage done. Though I haven’t been out to check nothing has been blown over to the mainland! It was very windy with light rain first thing, but it got extremely heavy just before 10am. That heavy rain with huge raindrops hammering on the windows and door. Soon after we got a brief thunder and lightning storm. Now we just have heavy rain and strong winds, they are forecasting gusts approaching 40mph. Albania is lost across the calm channel and our mountains are lost in the murk. A day for staying in, a day for wishing I had a wood fire, but I can’t be doing with dealing with the logs and a chainsaw!
The temperature at 10am on Monday 8th February was 15.5°C. Real feel 16°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday in Roda after the nice start became very cloudy, warm and extremely windy. I was going up to see Steve in the afternoon, and was putting a plant into a bag whilst the wind was trying to blow me off the balcony. The plant was a cutting that was the last one that Steve took. It is a succulent that seems to thrive on neglect, so it should do well over the grave. I decided that it was way too windy for the trip, which I will postpone until Wednesday when the day is supposed to be dry and not windy. I instead limited my walk to around the village. It was much calmer once I got away from the apartment, and coming back along the sea front the mainland was stunning, a dark block with the far snow fields lit up by the sun. The sunset itself was very pretty as there was a bit of a break in the clouds. Then we settled into a very wind evening with quite frightening strong winds. No stars and spits and spots of rain at the late evening check, hanging onto the door so as not to get blown away.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 18.6°C, and the minimum was 11.5°C.
This day last year after a very frosty start with clear skies became cloudy in the afternoon and then clearing again. Feeling very cold in the wind. The maximum temperature was 13.4°C and the minimum was 1.7°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. We had a very mild night with the temperature only dropping to 14°C! Opening the curtains showed a very cloudy day with Albania missing across the storm coloured sea. We did get rare glimpses to blue, but they were soon overwhelmed by brooding dark clouds foretelling the storm we are due this afternoon. I managed to get a lot done this morning with the last few hours with the hire car. There was a quick spat of rain around 11am with the clouds all around looking very dark and the sea that amazing green colour that precedes a storm. I got home dry with the wind increasing as I walked. I hadn’t been in long when the rain started.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 9th February was 15.1°C. Real feel 15°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was mostly a very windy and wet day with extremely strong gusts rattling the windows. The rain varied from torrential hail to just heavy rain! We had a brief respite around mid-day when the sun managed to make an appearance. But the rain returned with heavy showers. It all petered out around 5pm, and although it still looked threatening, I took a chance and went for my walk around the village. I just love the light and colours of the sea when we have storms and rain. Again, the camera doesn’t do it any justice. In typical Corfu style the skies remarkably cleared to give lovely blue patches with fluffy white clouds, and we ended with a very pretty sunset. The late evening check showed a clear sky with a scattering of clouds and not much wind. It was a mild 14°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 18.6°C, and the minimum was 11.5°C.
This day last year we had early sunshine but became completely cloudy. The maximum temperature was 13.2°C and the minimum was 3.5°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a very mild night for the time of year with the temperature only falling down to a 12.0°C. The forecast had a day of mostly sunshine with some clouds, what I opened the curtains through was scene of complete cloud cover. Albania was barely a presence on the horizon across a still calm sea. There was a gentle breeze but that is steadily increasing, giving my house a good blow through as I have the windows open. The sun is trying hard to make itself known but is mostly failing and is fighting against some very threatening clouds in the east.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 10th February was 14.4°C real feel 14°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday morning was mostly cloudy with a rare glimpse of blue. Albania was missing across the slightly ruffled sea. We had a brief spat of rain in the morning as the wind steadily increased. Then we had rain on and off until mid-afternoon, some of it very heavy aided and abetted by the stiff wind. We had the briefest of thunderstorms and then it all started clearing, blue skies appeared and the wind died away. The sea was left with long low waves coming ashore. So, I managed to enjoy a lovely afternoon walk around the village, getting back in time to view the very pretty sunset. My late evening check gave me a few scattered stars across the sky and a gentle breeze with a temperature of 14°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 16.0°C, and the minimum was 13.9°C.
This day last year started off with quite a bit of cloud around, but it became sunny from mid-morning before clouding over again, but still gave a stunning sunset. The maximum temperature was 15.1°C and the minimum was 5.2°C.

Good morning from Roda. My trip into the kitchen to make my first cup of tea of the morning was welcomed by a flash of lightning, a rumble or two of thunder and torrential rain. It was quite brief and vicious with water cascading off the next door’s roof. The storm was replaced by persistent heavy rain with gusting wind. Albania is nowhere is sight across the choppy sea that has waves coming ashore. Our mountains are lost in low lying clouds and murk; it must be horrible in the high villages. The temperature is falling consistently during the morning, a prelude to the cold weather we are due next week. The temperatures are due to fall to barely above freezing, just when we were getting used to this warm weather.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 11th February was 12.4°C. Real feel 12°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday started off with a complete covering of clouds and it stayed that way for most of the day. The forecast rain stayed away thankfully, and I was able to go up to visit Steve and take a plant for his grave. It is a tough succulent, his last cutting actually, which seems to survive untended in plant boxes over the winter here, so fingers crossed. I will review it if we get a forecast for a prolonged spell of hot dry weather. Anyway, in May or June his grave will be getting the headstone and a marble covering. The clouds were starting to break as I walked back through the village in the late afternoon, and it was bright. A photo was put on Facebook showing a sunny Roda beach, but I must have missed that moment. The temperature reached nearly 18°C, but didn’t feel like that due to the strong blustery wind. There was a very feeble attempt at a sunset leading onto a completely cloudy evening, with a temperature of 16°C at 10pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 17.8°C, and the minimum was 12.0°C.
This day last year was hazy but mostly sunny, feeling very warm in full sun. The maximum temperature was 17.4°C and the minimum was 9.2°C.

Good morning from Roda. And what a morning it is. You can forgive the horrible rain we have had when you wake up to this view after a mild night. The mainland has come back into focus with its fresh covering of snow on the higher peaks, across a wild sea with foam topped waves for as far as I can see. I could hear the raging seas on my nocturnal visits to the bathroom. The high winds we have had have diminished to just gentle breezes, feeling a tad cool if not in the sun. We are due more rain on and off during the next seven day as temperatures approaching zero, but on days like today you can put that to the back of your mind.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 12th February was 13.2°C. Real feel 13°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a bit of a day of two halves with the morning very wet, starting with a brief thunderstorm leading onto a morning of rain, varying from torrential in strong winds to just plain heavy! I made myself some soup for a late lunch around 2pm, with it raining, sat down to eat it, then looked up and we had blue skies! Don’t know what happened, but the dry weather lasted a couple of hours then we had a spell of clouds with strong winds and a choppy sea. Then the blue skies returned with big puffball clouds to give us a nice sunset. The evening was clear with plenty of stars scattered around the heavens, but it was still windy, the seas wild but quite mild with the late evening temperature a mild 14°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 16.0°C, and the minimum was 12.0°C.
This day last year was a cloudy and hazy for most of the day with only a glimpse or two of blue sky, the evening though was clear and starlit. The maximum temperature was 16.4°C and the minimum was 9.1°C.
