Good morning from Roda. What another amazing day we have here. The air is so clear you feel that Albania was in touching distance. There was some fresh snow on the peaks from the overnight snow, but we only got rain here. There are some pretty clouds floating around, some have got caught in the valleys. The sea is an amazing deep blue with noisy white topped waves coming ashore along the bay. It is cold though with the coldest overnight temperature so far this year at 6.8 °C. I am hopeful that the sun and the breeze will dry my bedding on the line. I had earlier on put my quilts and mattress topper out over the balcony to get an airing.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 16th January was 7.8°C.
The reported UV for Today is 1 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday wasn’t at all a bad day. We had the glorious start, but the sky was gradually over run with light clouds so by the late afternoon the vast majority of the blue was gone. It was decidedly fresh all day, a walk along the front to put my rubbish in the bin was bracing to say the least. The day did stay dry with the clouds persisting and maintaining those lovely views until the sunset. It remained cloudy until at least the late evening. It was a decidedly chilly 9.7°C,
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 12.0°C, and the minimum was 8.0°C. This day last year was a clear and sunny day with a calm sea. The maximum temperature was 14.6°C and the minimum was 4.4°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. The amazing weather continues with great clarity, almost completely blue skies and a deep blue sea with big white topped waves. The downsides are that there is a strong north wind that is bringing us this remarkable weather, but also with it the cold days we are experiencing. This will all change after Wednesday when the wind shifts to the south and it will get warmer. So, saying that, I enjoyed my coffee and crossword on the south balcony, sheltered from the cold wind, in the sun with just a thin jumper and jeans. Moments like that have to be enjoyed whilst you can. It may have only been 7°C in the shade but pleasant in the sun.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 17th January was 6.7°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a dry day after the short spell of rain during the night. The morning was beautiful and almost cloudless, but the clouds did increase during the afternoon. The wind got stronger and the whole channel got filled with white capped waves. There was a good sunset, which I mostly missed leading onto a cold bright evening with a crescent moon in the early part with plenty of stars. The cold wind continued well passed bedtime. The late evening temperature was 7.3°C and falling.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 10.3°C, and the minimum was 6.8°C.
This day last year was a clear and sunny day with a calm sea and a starlit night. The maximum temperature was 14.2°C and the minimum was 3.9°C.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES 2020 The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.

Good morning from Roda. The cold weather continues with coastal temperatures around 3°C, meaning up in the mountains they are getting frost and ice. However, the amazing air clarity continues with stunning views of the mainland. The sky was amazing to the east as the sun rose, I ventured a quick dash onto the balcony to snatch a quick photo. As you can see there was a fair bit of cloud around, which has been increasing all morning with only occasional glimpses of the sun. When that sun is out it highlights the snow on the mainland peaks. It is supposed to get sunnier as the day gets older. I’m not sure we will get into double figures today. The breeze and rough seas have calmed down somewhat this morning.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 18th January was 5.6°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday started off lovely with plenty of sun and almost no clouds, but the clouds steadily increased during the morning giving a very cloudy afternoon with hardly any blue patches by the end. The wind did begin to ease however, though the waves were still quite big. Despite the lack of sun, the views across the channel were amazing with the mountains were quite detailed but so dark and brooding with the snow gleaming in any rays of the sun. The photo really doesn’t do it justice. The day remained dry but cold with a complete covering of cloud when I did my late evening check. It was a chilly 6.5°C with the wind appearing to have died almost completely away.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 7.8°C, and the minimum was 6.0°C.
This day last year started off cloudless and sunny with a few clouds bout but got steadily cloudier until the sky almost completely covered. The maximum temperature was 13.5°C and the minimum was 4.4°C.

Good morning from Roda. The cold weather has continued with falling morning temperatures. This morning’s plummeted to the lowly figure of 1.7°C. Even though we are very close to the sea, when I looked out at around 8am everywhere was white with frost. The cold sent me running back to bed with a warming cup of tea. When I did emerge to face the chilly rooms there was still frost in the shade of the apartment block whilst everywhere else was very wet with dew. We still have amazing views of the mainland over a calm sea. The waves that lulled me to sleep last night have calmed right down. The stiff breeze that was rattling the shutters last night has also gone. So, we are left with cloudless blue skies and wall to wall sunshine. I can feel a good walk is the order of the day.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 19th January was 5.0°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday overall was a lovely day. We started with lovely clear skies which prompted a walk to Acharavi with my friend (allowed under current restrictions as long as you stay 1.5m apart). It was warm in the sun so was pleased that I hadn’t put on my thick winter jacket. The views of Albania were so clear, you could even trace the routes of the roads wending their way across the mountainsides joining up the coastal villages. The afternoon saw a steady increase in the breeze leading to a channel full of white horses on a brilliant blue sea. It was still warm enough to enjoy an afternoon coffee on my sheltered south balcony with my neighbour. However, once the sun started getting close to the horizon it got very cold very quickly and chased us into our respective houses. The strengthening wind brough big waves pounding on the shore. My late evening check found a sky with a few clouds a waxing crescent moon and plenty of stars and chilly.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 9.1C, and the minimum was 3.3°C.
This day last year started off cloudy and hazy after overnight rain. The clouds cleared to give long sunny spell in the afternoon. It was a clear starlit night. The maximum temperature was 13.3°C and the minimum was 5.6°C.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES 2020 The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January

Good afternoon from Roda. It was a warmer night, marginally, due to the clouds that were appearing in the north. There was still a fair amount of blue skies to be seen. There was a general haze that was starting to hide the mainland and the big waves of last night were gone leaving a flat calm sea lapping gently on the shore. As the morning progressed the clouds kept building until the blue bits were almost entirely covered. It felt colder due to the lack of sun, and the lack of a breeze didn’t help.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 20th January was 7.0°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a beautiful day. We had wall to wall sunshine all day. The morning was particularly lovely giving one of Corfu winter’s anomaly. I was enjoying my morning coffee and crossword on the balcony and it felt so hot. So, I went and got the thermometers out and sat them in full sun on the table. Both ended up reading around 40°C, even though the shade temperature was barely 8°C! You got the strange effect that the bit of you in the sun was roasting, but the backs of your legs were almost icy. The afternoon saw strong winds whipping up the sea into white horses across the whole channel and continuous large waves coming ashore. The big noisy waves stayed with us until after I was asleep, but the wind did die down by the evening. There was the standard monochromatic sunset. The late-night check showed a lovely display of stars and a bright almost half moon, and the temperature was 9.8°C.
Yesterday afternoon’s views across the bay
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 10.2C, and the minimum was 1.7°C.
This day last year gave us sunshine and thin clouds feeling cool despite lack of a wind. The clouds cleared enough to give a starlit night. The maximum temperature was 137°C and the minimum was 5.9°C.

It is a wet and miserable morning here. We had steady raining when I opened the door, with the clouds and murk well down the mountains behind us. The mainland is just about visible across the dep blue/ green slightly choppy channel. The wind is steadily increasing from being almost absent first thing. Around 10am there was a scant gap in the clouds that allowed the sun to briefly shine. The forecast does have it drying up a bit but remaining cloudy. Thankfully though the temperatures have risen. No frost this morning.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 21st January was 12.0°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday saw a morning of steadily increasing clouds, with a flat calm sea and little in the way of a breeze. Albania was not the clearest it can be. There were low clouds at times covering the tops of our mountains. By mid-day we had complete cloud cover, which was forecast to last for the rest of the day. However, the weather had a change of heart with good periods of sunshine during the afternoon, warm enough to enjoy an afternoon coffee break on the balcony. The clouds gave us a pretty sunset, but finally covered the sky to give us complete cover by the time I did the late evening check. It was a cool 9.7°C at 10pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 11.5°C, and the minimum was 4.2°C.
This day last year gave us a day of good periods of sunshine, very warm in that sun. there were also quite a few clouds around and it was hazy. The clouds cleared to give us a starlit night. The maximum temperature was 13.3°C and the minimum was 5.5°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. We had overnight rain which was finished by the time I stuck my head out of the door at around 8.30am. The picture was one of almost complete cloud cover, with enough blue gaps to give us very intermittent sunshine. I did manage half of my breakfast out on the balcony before the wind started up and the sun hid behind an inconvenient cloud. It has become quite breezy, but it is much warmer than a few days ago, positively mild. Walking back from my doctor’s appointment along the road leading to Theodoros all I could here over the babbling stream was bird song and the sight of the birds hopping in and out of the bushes opposite. I think love is in the air for them. There is enough haze to almost hide the mainland from us over the still calm sea. Our mountain tops are being hidden by very low clouds.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 22nd January was 13.4°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday saw us have a mostly wet and rainy morning, although I did manage to get out for my daily walk without getting too wet, with the conditions varying from dry, through spotting to a light shower. These light showers persisted until lunchtime when it started to dry up and stayed dry for the rest of the day even though very cloudy for the most part. The early evening saw large enough breaks in the clouds to give us some stars and the lovely show of the half moon. However, by bed time it was still dry but there was a complete cloud cover. It was mild though with the temperature in double digits at 12.4°C
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 13.5°C, and the minimum was 10.0°C. This day last year started off frosty and stayed clear with just a few steaky clouds. The maximum temperature was 12.5°C and the minimum was 2.9°C.

Good morning from Roda. We had a mild night but woke to heavy rain and strong winds. In fact, the conditions at the moment vary from strong gusty winds with very heavy rain showers alternating with lighter winds and showers. So, a very wet and miserable day is in front of us. The low clouds have crept down our mountain sides, and the mainland is lost across the channel. The sea is surprisingly calm despite the winds tearing at the palm trees in Nino’s.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 23rd January was 14.3°C. The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was quite a good day after such a wet night. The morning clouds gave way to enough blue patches to give us some sunny periods in the afternoon. The clouds never really left our mountain tops and the mainland was veiled in haze for the entire day. I managed two village walks during the day, once in the morning to pick up a prescription and buy some fresh vegetables at Farma. In the afternoon I just went out to stretch my legs and caught this lovely view across the bay. The blue skies lost the battle with the clouds to give us a complete cloud cover during the evening. It was still there when I did my late evening check. It was still mild though with the temperature a pretty decent 14°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 15.1°C, and the minimum was 11.6°C.
This day last year was a lovely clear day with barely a breeze. The maximum temperature was 13.6°C and the minimum was 3.0°C.

Good morning from Roda. I think it was a dry night as there appeared to no surface water lying around on the balconies. At my first look at the world it wasn’t a bad morning with some patches of blue skies amongst quite a lot of clouds. When I did emerge for real after an invigorating cup of tea the world had changed and we had wall to wall clouds. There is a bit of a breeze and Albania is barely in view across the calm sea with whispering waves coming ashore. The clouds don’t look as threatening as the photo but, to me, the forecast that we won’t get rain until this afternoon is doubtful. It is mild though, so, if it does stay mild, I’ll head out for a walk and see what is happening in the village.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 24th January was 13.2°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was a pretty miserable day with strong winds and heavy rain with a couple of short thunderstorms thrown in for good luck. We started the day with strong winds and heavy squalls lashing the south balcony, alternating with gentler winds and lighter rain. The clouds are coming well down the mountains behind us, almost getting lost in the downpours. We had a short spell of thunder and lightning in the afternoon, with the temperatures falling throughout the day. The clouds and rain cleared enough to give a welcome glimpse of sun and a feeble attempt at a sunset. There was another short thunder storm in the evening with the winds shifting from the north to the south. The wind did ease during the evening but the waves got noisy at the same time. By the time of the late evening check we had an even split of clouds and clear patches allowing some stars to make their presence felt. It was a cool 11°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 14.3°C, and the minimum was 11.1°C. The daytime max was around 13°C, with a dawn minimum of 13.7°C.
This day last year started off with plenty of sunshine, but the clouds covered the sky by 4pm. The evening was very mild at 13°C. The maximum temperature was 15.4°C and the minimum was 4.7°C.

We had a very wild night with very strong winds, gusting in different directions at time. The sea was raging, and was still very noisy this morning with big waves coming ashore. One of my kitchen shutters broke lose from its mounting, I managed to get it clipped back into place. Really, I should have shut them, but it was so windy with torrential rain it would have been impossible for me. During the night the winds tore the last cabinet on the balcony apart losing one door completely. After a fortifying cup of tea, I tackled emptying it, now every surface in the kitchen is covered in STUFF! I will be going up to have a word with Steve when I next visit him. This morning brought a still raging sea with large white topped waves crashing onto the shore., but the wind had dropped to a more manageable level. There are a pretty white clouds floating around in a lovely blue sky. So, a well-earned breakfast was enjoyed on the balcony. The one good thing so far this morning.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 25th January was 13.0°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday started off not giving any hint of the extreme weather that we were to get later on in the day. The early blue patches were soon over run with clouds, the sea was calm and the wind was dropping. My mis-afternoon the wind had all but gone and it started raining. First with spits and spots until it got into its stride. The wind really started getting into its stride in the evening accompanied by torrential rain, mostly coming from the south but sometimes hitting the north facing windows. The sea was raging. As I have already said, I had to rescue the shutter when I was just about to get into bed. I managed to find a very brief gap in the storm. It had been so wild I hadn’t even opened my kitchen door to do my nightly check. It was mild though with the temperature at 13.7 °C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 14.5°C, and the minimum was 10.1°C.
This day last year was grey and overcast with drizzle on and off all day. The maximum temperature was 13.3°C and the minimum was 11.5°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. What can I say about the weather today? The kindest most accurate thing to say is that it is mild. For the rest, it is very wet, and increasingly windy with the sea being whipped into white horses. The mountains behind us have gone, lost in the murk. Albania is a lost cause with very restricted visibility in that direction. A day to stay in beside the fire, except I need to find my dining table which is covered with the accumulated detritus of Steve’s life before we met, plus all the seeds he was keeping just in case. But he always ordered fresh ones each season or bought plants from the nurseries!
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 26th January was 13.2°C. The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday started off very pleasant with plenty of sunshine and warm enough to enjoy breakfast on the balcony with the high overnight winds having eased. The clouds started to gather and by the end of the afternoon we had an almost complete covering. There was just a small gap on the western horizon that allowed a small but quite stunning sunset to brighten up the sky. The clouds cleared somewhat during the evening to give us decent breaks in the billowing clouds to allow Orion to do its job. It was still 13.5°C at 10.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 13.8°C, and the minimum was 12.2°C.
The amount of rain, combined with very high tides and rough seas brought some significant changes to the winter Roda landscape. It always amazes me that by the time the season starts Roda is all pristine again. The rain had swollen the water in the stream running passed Theodoros resort to give a small cascade, and creating a much wider exit to the sea.
The high tide had pushed the sea right up to the promenade, and was still sending water over the retaining wall in front of The Coral Hotel. You lads were trying to avoid getting a soaking as the waves crashed over the harbour wall.
This day last year saw us have sunny patches during the morning, windy feeling cold, then got progressively cloudy. Light rain in the evening. The maximum temperature was 15.4°C and the minimum was 9.8°C. TEMPERATURE EXTREMES 2020 The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. Good morning from Roda. We had another wild night with a gale blowing all night, so strong it was blowing my balcony furniture around. The sea was raging sending very large waves over the sea wall. In fact, the whole channel was filled with large foam topped waves, in front of a crystal-clear mainland with its fresh topping of snow. We have a clear very blue sky adding to the lovely picture. The temperature may say 8°C but the real feel is closer to 4°C. Well it certainly felt that cold as I stood on the balcony, in the full force of the wind taking my morning photo. My apartment does get the full force of the wind and weather from either the north or the south. It maybe real feel of 4°C on the front balcony, but I do have the back door open onto the south balcony, and it is pleasant sitting here in the kitchen in the sun.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 27th January was 8.4°C. Real feel 4°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday the overnight steady rain lasted until mid-afternoon when it completely petered out. The wind increased and at the same time the murk and the low clouds fled leaving us with lovely views of the mainland across a very choppy channel with plenty of white horses and big waves coming ashore. Along the sea-front it was bracing to put it mildly, feeling much colder than the fairly mild 13°C on the thermometer. The clouds started to thin allowing a lovely pastel sunset to unfold itself as I watched from my lounge window. The sky and the mainland turned lovely shades of rosy pinks and lilacs. The late-night check showed a dark sky with some clouds lit up by a goodly quantity of stars. The temperature was a cool 10.7 °C. Yesterday the maximum temperature was 13.9°C, and the minimum was 10.7°C.
This day last year we had a day of heavy rain and thunderstorms until it all blew over in the evening to give a clear night. The maximum temperature was 14.3°C and the minimum was 12.2°C.

Good morning from Roda. Overnight the wind eased to leave us with just a moderate breeze this morning. The sea is so blue capped as it is with a channel full of white horses. It was a beautiful start to the day, clear blue skies with only a token cloud. The humidity is very low giving us continued stunning views of the mainland with its snow-capped peaks. The waves are nowhere near as noisy, though they did lull me to sleep last night and wake me in the morning. It was cold, but with the sun gaining strength my kitchen door is open and a line full of washing out to dry.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 28th January was 8.8°C. Real feel 6°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday was an amazing day in many ways. We had a start of almost clear blue skies, feeling cold with a real feel temperature of barely 4°C. The wind literally took your breath away, the wild seas pounded our beaches all day, and some of the passengers on the ferries were subject to feelings of seasickness. But the sun shone all day, apart from an occasional diversion behind a small cloud, and, if you found a sheltered spot, it felt pleasant. I enjoyed my lunch out on the south balcony with the north balcony reading 9.5°C but in the sun, it was 25°C! The afternoon saw more clouds gathering giving us a stunning sunset. I tried to capture the wonderful light you get just before sun, when everything seems so clear. Then we got these amazing billowing clouds flushed pink. The evening gave us a mix of clouds and some times when the stars could be seen. The wind was still strong, but a bit reduced, and the waves still pounded the beaches. It was a cool 9.5°C at midnight. You will note that the temperature hadn’t changed from the height of the afternoon!
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 10.5°C (in the small hours) and 9.5°C during the day, and the minimum was 7.8°C (real feel 4°C).
This day last year was mostly cloudy but very pleasant when the sun shone .The maximum temperature was 16.2°C and the minimum was 10.2°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. I apologise for the late report but a friend came round and dragged me off shopping, a chance to go as there are rumours of the government reapplying a stricter lockdown! This morning was pretty decent with a nice mix of clouds and blue sky. The temperature had risen during the night to almost get into double figures by 10am. The mainland had lost some of its clarity across a lovely calm sea. The wind too has died away just leaving a gentle breeze. No coats or cardigans required for our walk to the shops and back, in fact it felt positively warm, even down on the sea front where it had been bracing to say the least for the last few days.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 29th January was 9.7°C. Real feel 10°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday stayed almost free from clouds for the whole day. What clouds we did get were sometimes of a strange formation. We got lenticular clouds (commonly known as spaceship clouds) formed over the mainland from the cold winds coming over the snow-capped mountains. The breeze stayed with us all day sometimes very strong and definitely bracing by the sea. I managed to get three loads of washing done and dried outside. I have storm-proof pegs that stop the washing disappearing over the mountains to Ipsos! The sunset was stunning combined as it was with the full moon rising. The strange clouds and the mainland all turned pink after it. The evening started of with plenty of stars, the moon and a few clouds, but had completely clouded over by the late evening. It was a chilly 7.3°C and falling at 10.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 10.3°C, and the minimum was 7.3°C (real feel 4)
This day last year saw rain during the night turn into showers in the morning, then dry for the rest of the day. The maximum temperature was 16.4°C and the minimum was 11.3°C.

It was a pleasant start to the day with me catching the tail end of a pretty pink dawn as I opened the curtains. However, by the time I had finished my tea and got up the clouds were gathering and the wind was getting stronger whipping the sea for as far as I could see into big waves. Albania is just about lost on the other side of the channel and the clouds are working their way down the mountains behind me. On the positive side it is mild, in fact the night was mild, and even the wind doesn’t feel that cold. The forecast site isn’t reporting any reduction in the real feel of the temperature.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 30th January was 14.5°C. Real feel 14°C.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+).
Yesterday had a lovely morning. It was pleasantly warm in the sunshine walking around the village without needing a cardigan or jacket. My friend and I enjoyed my first take-away coffee of the year, if not since the middle of November. The wind was non-existent and the sea flat calm, just gentling lapping on the shore. Albania was starting to get veiled by the haze. I managed to enjoy my lunch on the balcony before the cloud starting taking over the sky.
