Good morning from Roda. It was a slightly warmer night with the minimum temperature back into the low 20’s. My second cup of tea was on the balcony admiring the pretty dappled blue sky. The clouds started to gather together to form larger ones that hid the sun for short periods. There was a bit of a haze so the further parts of the mainland were fading into the background. The sea looked flat calm but I could hear the gentle wash of waves coming ashore. There just a hint of a breeze earlier on, but it was steadily increasing and tried to blow my crossword off the balcony! The temperature is rising nicely and we are already higher than the maximum recorded yesterday
The temperature at 10 am on Monday 6th September was 24.7°C real feel 25°C.
I was delighted this morning watching so many swifts and swallows mass feeding above my garden this morning and gathering on the wires prior to their return flight to Africa.
The reported UV for Today is 7 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice). With these high levels of UV everyone needs to be slapping on their high factor sun screen. The lowest levels are early in the morning and then from late afternoon when you can enjoy the heat of the sun with less chance of burning.
Yesterday started off cool and with dappled clouds before the sky got completely covered by cloud by mid-day. Then the clouds decided that they had better places to be and gradually the skies cleared, except for a few residual streaks, by the time the sun was setting. It was a bit of a non-event however more pale peach than vibrant orange. We had a mild clear night with plenty of stars and lights from around the bay. It was a reasonable 22.8°C at 1am,
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 25.4°C (real feel 26°C) and the minimum was 18.2°C.
This day last year was a lovely sunny day with only tiny clouds and minimal wind. There was quite a haze though trying to mask the mainland. The maximum temperature was 28.1°C (real feel 29°C) and the minimum 17.7°C.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES
The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.

Good morning from Roda. It was a cool night with the temperature just under 18°C at its coldest. I awoke to a pretty dappled sky with pretty white clouds scattered over a pale blue sky. By the time I moved onto the balcony with my second cup of tea the skies had cleared completely. There was a bit of a breeze ruffling the leaves of the trees, it was also ruffling the surface of the sea causing the odd white crest seen. The direction of the wind has changed because the apparent direction has changed from the usual left to right to the opposite of right to left. We have some haze trying to hide the mainland. There have already been two flyovers by the fire spotter planes!
The temperature at 10 am on Tuesday 7th September was 22.9°C real feel 23°C.
The reported UV for Today is 7 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. The lowest levels are early in the morning and then from late afternoon when you can enjoy the heat of the sun with less chance of burning.
Yesterday was a bit of a mixed bag with plenty of clouds around, but there was plenty of sunshine despite the occasional cloudy spell. The cloudy spell gave some cooler times but the heat when the sun was out would have suited the most ardent sun-seeker. The usual afternoon breeze stiffened to get rid of most of the clouds by the time the sun was setting, but gave us a choppy sea with some white horses. What I saw of the sunset it was just mediocre due to low lying cloud. But some stunning photos were taken from the top of Mount Pantokrator. We had a clear skied evening with plenty of stars around, but still no moon. It was a cool 22°C at 10.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 27.6°C (real feel 29°C) and the minimum was 21.2°C.
This day last year started off nice with plenty of sunshine from clear skies with a gentle breeze and a calm sea.It got very cloudy by the early evening and we even got a few spots of rain. It stayed cloudy for the rest of the evening feeling a bit warmer due to the cloud cover, being 23°C at 10.30pm. The maximum temperature was 26.5°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum 18.1°C.

Good morning from Roda. It will be such a disappointment for our sun-seeking visitors as we have no sun and a hundred percent cloud cover. There is quite a breeze making it feel very cool, but the temperature is low for the time of year at 22°C. I even had to go and get my dressing gown for my morning cuppa on the balcony. Albania is just a block of dark grey across a choppy deep green and blue sea. I’m not sure we will get any sun today, and we might even get some light rain, which has been reported by the weather station at Arillas!
The temperature at 10 am on Wednesday 8thth September was 22.3°C real feel 22°C.
The reported UV for Today is 7 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. With these high levels of UV everyone needs to be slapping on their high factor sun screen. The lowest levels are early in the morning and then from late afternoon when you can enjoy the heat of the sun with less chance of burning.
Yesterday started off with dappled clouds burning off to give clear skies in the morning, but the clouds fought back and gradually increased over the afternoon to give total cover. We lost the sun entirely as the few blue patches that were left were in the wrong position. The sunset was more of a flush of peach on some clouds as there was no sun to see. The evening sky substantially cleared to give plenty of stars and the haze decreased to give a good show of lights from across the channel and along the bay. It was a cool 20.5°C at 1.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 25.8°C (real feel 26°C) and the minimum was 17.8°C.
This day last year started off with thin clouds which soon burnt off. The breeze strengthened in the afternoon to give white horses out in the channel. It all died away to give a humid, calm and clear starlit evening. It was a warm 24°C at 10.30pm. The maximum temperature was 26.4°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum 21.2°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a very cool night with the temperature dropping to just a smidge over 17°C. We have a split sky, with to the north we have a pretty dappled sky with plenty of blue splattered with decorative white clouds. To the south we have big grey masses, hiding the sun from us at times. At this moment I don’t know which side will win. Hopefully we’ll lose the thick stuff. We have gorgeous clear views of the mainland across a very calm sea. I have just heard a clap of thunder (11.35am) think the thick clouds might be winning! There is a scant breeze, just enough to make sure I put a heavy weight on my crossword to stop it flying off over the balcony. The sea is calm, slightly ruffled and barely audible. Now we are getting some gentle rain and more thunder. It wasn’t forecast!
The temperature at 10 am on Thursday 9th September was 22.0°C real feel 22°C.
This is the view to the south. The view to the north looks the same as the first pic.
The reported UV for Today is 7 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday was mostly a cloudy day with some sunny spells, some of them quite decent in length. We had a few spots of rain around 11am, but it didn’t amount to much here in Roda, and some places in Corfu didn’t get it. The wind felt cool due to the lack of sun. The clouds started clearing in the late afternoon to give us a stunning golden light just before the sunset started. The photos don’t do it justice though. The sky stayed mostly cloudy, so as I walked back from my last rock night in Sidari in the early hours, I couldn’t see any stars. There was however a full complement of lights on both sides of the channel. It was a cool 20°C at 2.30am.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 25.4°C (real feel 25°C) and the minimum was 19.2°C. A few pics of last night’s sunset. The amazing light preceded such a beautiful sunset.
This day last year saw us having clear skies, a mainland almost lost in the haze across a calm sea with noisy waves hitting our shoreline. We didn’t have a breeze at the start but it got very stiff in the afternoon, bringing with it some clouds, only to completely fade away by the end of the day. It was a warm humid feeling evening. The maximum temperature was 27.0°C (real feel 29°C) and the minimum 20.8 °C.

Good afternoon from Roda. Apologies for the late report but I was out having coffee at my friend’s house in Acharavi and got up a bit too late to get the report done before I left home. A little bit too much wine and a lovely meal at Ammos is to blame! We got off to a cold start with the temperature even lower at 16.5°C. But emerging from my bedroom I saw that we had beautiful clear skies, a gentle wind and a beautiful calm sea. The mainland was fairly clear across the channel. AS I sat and had my tea and toast a tiny cloud appeared peeking over the mountains at the back. It was soon joined by others and now we have congregations over the mountains at the front and the back! It was cool in the shade this morning, so I moved to the sunny south balcony where it was lovely and hot in the sun. It is much cooler this year than last September, or indeed previous ones, hopefully the temperature soon picks up.
The temperature at 10 am on Friday 10th September was 20.0°C real feel 20°C.
The reported UV for Today is 7 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. With these high levels of UV everyone needs to be slapping on their high and then from late afternoon when you can enjoy the heat of the sun with less chance of burning.
Yesterday started off lovely with speckled clouds on a blue sky. But the clouds rolled in to the south and we had thunder, lightning and gentle rain for the rest of the morning. The temperature started falling and ended up barely 20°C. We did end up with complete cloud cover except for over the mainland, where they were still getting sunshine in the afternoon. The rain stopped and the clouds broke up partially to give sunny spells, until eventually the clouds nearly all went to give a lovely end to the day. It was feeling steamy in the sunshine after the morning rain. It was a mostly clear night with plenty of stars and lights around the bay. It was a cool 19°C at 10.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 23.3°C (real feel 23°C) and the minimum was 17.5°C.
This day last year stayed hot and sunny with speckled clouds and a calm sea. The breeze in the afternoon brought big waves and small white horses out in the channel before dying away as usual. The haze persisted for most of the day, and we have a warm evening with the temperature a pleasant 24°C. The maximum temperature was 26.4°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum 20.8 °C.

Good morning from Roda. It was another cool night with the temperature dropping to 16.5°C. Morning brought us a blue sky streaked with some thin clouds. There is just the merest of breezes with a calm and silent sea in front of a quite hazy mainland. It may feel cool in the shade, but my thermometer in full sun on the south balcony has reached 43°C! Enjoy the sun today as it is forecast to be a very wet day tomorrow, before clearing for the rest of the week, with the temperatures returning to more normal levels for this time of year.
The temperature at 10 am on Saturday 11th September was 20.6°C real feel 21°C.
The reported UV for Today is 7 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. With these high levels of UV everyone needs to be slapping on their high and then from late afternoon when you can enjoy the heat of the sun with less chance of burning.
Yesterday was quite a good day. We had lovely sun all day even if the temperatures were a little on the cool side. We did have a few clouds build up in the morning but they didn’t get in the way of the sun. Those clouds mostly disappeared during the afternoon, but leaving a few around by sunset. They needn’t have bothered as they failed to add anything to a rather non-descript sunset. The wind stayed gentle and the sea calm all day, so, overall, not such a bad day, though it would have been better if the temperatures were more in the normal range. The evening brought us a sliver of a crescent moon in a star-studded sky. There were plenty of lights on both sides of the channel. It was, however, chilly, such that I regretted not having a jacket as I walked back from a lovely meal at the Mexican with my friends. It was a definitely cool 20°C at 11pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 24.2°C (real feel 24°C) and the minimum was 16.5°C.
This day last year was mostly clear with just a few clouds not getting in the way of the sun. There was no real wind and the sea was calm with just gentle waves coming ashore. Albania was very hazy on the other side of the channel. A mild starlit evening. The maximum temperature was 26.3°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum 19.9°C.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES

Good afternoon from Roda. I had a lazy morning as the grey weather didn’t encourage me to get up and do much. We did have overnight rain, but not that much judging by the lack of puddles around the house. Any drizzle had stopped by the time I was doing my readings. There was a peaceful feel to the morning with barely any wind and a calm and silent sea. Albania was lost across the channel, but not the rain has stopped we now have at least an outline. It is forecast to stay cloudy all day with the clouds melting away tomorrow morning and the sunshine and hopefully the heat returning.
The temperature at 10 am on Sunday 12th September was 21.5°C real feel 22°C.
The reported UV for Today is 6 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice). With these high levels of UV everyone needs to be slapping on their high and then from late afternoon when you can enjoy the heat of the sun with less chance of burning.
Yesterday started off full of promise with just streaky clouds and abundant sunshine. There was barely a breath of wind and the sea was calm. The clouds steadily increased in the afternoon, giving longer and longer dull spells until the sun was lost entirely by the end of the afternoon. The shade temperature was much lower than you would expect at this time of year, but in full sun my thermometer touched 45°C, 20°C higher than the maximum for the day. Once the sun was lost it did feel cool. The complete cloud cover stayed with us throughout the evening, with a few spits and spots of rain reported in the village. It was a slightly warmer evening with the late night temperature 21.5°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 25.0°C (real feel 25°C) and the minimum was 16.8°C.
This day was sunny and nice and hot with a gentle breeze, a calm sea and any clouds restricting themselves to the north and west. A stunning monochromatic sunset and a mild night. The maximum temperature was 27.2°C (real feel 29°C) and the minimum 19.6°C.

The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.

Good morning from Roda. It appears that normal service has resumed. I awoke, after a cool night, to a blue sky streaked with thin cloud. There are still some thins ones persisting to the south, but nothing is getting in the way of the sun. There is a gentle breeze and a slightly ruffled sea with noisy waves hitting the shore line. Albania has slightly emerged from the murk of yesterday. I tried having my breakfast on the south balcony, but the heat of the sun drove me back in. We do have some slight possibility of cloud over the next week before rain rears its ugly head again.
The temperature at 10 am on Monday 13th September was 20.5°C real feel 21°C.
The reported UV for Today is 6 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday was just such a disappointing day in so many ways. Yes, we had overnight rain, and light showers all day, but we didn’t get the quantity that our gardens and agriculture needed. It also felt cold and wet for our visitors to their great disappointment. I must admit I never ventured over my doorstep all day, merely checking the weather from my balconies and watching the walkers along the beach road. There was quite a steady stream of them walking to Acharavi throughout daylight hours. Albania was mostly missing all day across the calm sea, as we have nothing other than a gentle breeze, at times lost in the heavy murk, at others just about making a dark shape on the horizon. The clouds crept right down the mountains behind me. It would have a cold wet miserable day in the mountain villages. When I ventured onto my balcony for my late-night check it was dry and I could just about make out a few stars struggling to be seen through the clouds. It was 21.2°C at 11pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 23.5°C (real feel 24°C) and the minimum was 20.1°C.
This day last year was a perfect late summer’s day with cloudless skies a gentle breeze and the mainland only slightly veiled. The evening was mild for the time of year, with the temperature of 22°C at midnight. The maximum temperature was 26.4°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum 19.4°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a cool night with the temperature dropping to a tad under 17°C. Morning brought lovely clear skies and a calm sea with noisy waves breaking on the shore. The sea further out looked calm in front of the mainland, which was veiled by the haze. Karousades though was basking peacefully in the sun to the west. It is forecast to be clear all day, so back to the pool and the beach.
The temperature at 10 am on Tuesday 14th September was 21.5°C real feel 22°C.

Yesterday started off with very pretty streaky clouds across a pale blue sky with Albania quite visible across the calm but ruffled sea. The clouds did increase and gave us a few dull spells. However, the clouds started melting away and were all but gone by the time the sun was beginning to set, with just a few vestigial streaks to add interest to it. It started off poorly but gained momentum and turned out quite glorious. The evening was nice and warm feeling though the temperature dropped to 20.3°C. We have an orange half moon setting in the late evening amidst a bevy of stars. The lovely end to a late summer’s day, even if we did have a few cloudy spells.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 25.4°C (real feel 27°C) and the minimum was 18.4°C.
This day last year was a lovely day with clear skies to start with, but we got a few clouds that increased to give the occasional cloudy spell. Good morning from Roda. It was a lovely start to the day after another cool night. There was a clear blue sky, a calm asea and barely any wind. The mainland was almost hidden by the deep haze. It is going to be a cracking day. Please be very careful in that sun, although the temperatures are a couple of degrees lower than last year, the temperature in full sun away from the cooling effect of the sea are in excess of 50°C!
The temperature at 10 am on Wednesday 15th September was 21.1°C real feel 22°C.

Yesterday was just lovely all day, we never saw any clouds, except over the mainland, until the early evening when they moved to make for a lovely sunset. The afternoon breeze got up to add a pleasant cooling effect especially if on the beach. I spent the afternoon on the beach at Astrakeri, enjoying a lovely swim. I saw Maggie and Des of Maggies restaurant who live almost on the beach there. I watched the sun set from my chair at Ammos. I was too lazy to get up to take a better photo, but it is still lovely. It was slightly cool on the sea side but when we moved to the Boathouse under the canopy it was warmer. There was a lovely golden half-moon floating among a sea of stars. The mainland lights were quite faint in the residual haze. It was 21°C, a little cool at 11pm. Yesterday the maximum temperature was 25.8°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum was 16.8°C. In full sun on my south balcony it was over 50°C.
The lovely sunset seen from my chair at the Ammos Grill Room.
This day last year we had constant sunshine with no clouds whatsoever. The afternoon breeze strengthened to whip up the waves into white horses before dying away for the evening. The night sky was just a mass of bright stars. The maximum temperature was 27.6°C (real feel 29°C) and the minimum 19.4°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. I apologise for my late report, but sadly we had a death of a tourist here in the village, and I went into the village to have a coffee and try and find out a little. It seems that a 63year old German lady on holiday at Robolla was pulled from the sea in front of the hotel and was taken to hospital at Corfu where she was pronounced dead. There will be an autopsy in a few days. Our thoughts are with the family. I can put myself in their shoes as my husband died on a family holiday in Spain.
The morning was cloudy with 100% cover by 10am, but the clouds slowly cleared to give around a 50% cover, particularly to the south. Albania was back into view, just, across a calm sea with small waves coming shore. We had increasing sunny spells once the clouds had started thinning.
The temperature at 10 am on Thursday 16th September was 22.6°C real feel 23°C.
I have to admit that this photo was taken just after 1pm not my usual time of around 10am. It just slipped my mind, oops!
The reported UV for Today is 6 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. With these high levels of UV everyone needs to be slapping on their high and then from late afternoon when you can enjoy the heat of the sun with less chance of burning.
Yesterday was a lovely hot and sunny day, there are a lot of very pink bodies walking around the village at the moment. The lower temperatures are fooling people and resulting in people getting burnt. We seem to be staying several degrees lower than this time last year, and even the forecast temperatures. The sun is still hot and the UV rays still get through the clouds when we have them. There was barely any breeze all day, though the sea was slightly ruffled in the afternoon and there were some waves coming ashore as I walked into the village in the evening. The swirling clouds that appeared before sunset made it a very pretty show. The haze that we had had all day persisted into the evening, and Albania was lost across the channel. WE had a slightly larger than half-moon and a good selection of stars for the evening sky. The late evening temperature was a slightly cool 21.3°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 24.8°C (real feel 25°C) and the minimum was 16.8°C.
There was another very pretty sunset with swirling clouds adding interests.
This day last year was a day of all most cloudless skies and constant sunshine with barely any breeze. There were some clouds appearing to the north west by sunset. It was a very warm day and a warm evening with the late night temperature 24°C. The maximum temperature was 27.8°C (real feel 30°C) and the minimum 18.9°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a cool night waking up to a lovely clear, cloudless skies to the north with Albania a lovely series of ridges across a dead calm sea. To the south though we have thin high cloud that does sometimes get in the way of the sun. There is almost no wind. The days are staying a couple of degrees cooler than this time last year. The fire planes though are still doing their routine flights over the island as everything is still tinder dry. We are still really in need of a good downpour.
The temperature at 10 am on Friday 17th September was 22.0°C real feel 22°C.
The reported UV for Today is 6 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday started off quite cloudy with a good coverage by 10am. After that the clouds did begin to disperse until only about half the sky was covered. There was some sun making it feel hot and humid at times. The afternoon was cloudy but bright with the sun penetrating the thin clouds. Albania made an appearance as the haze almost entirely melted away. There was a bit of a fuzzy sunset leading onto a clear and apparently cloudless night. There was a waxing moon high overhead with its company of stars. It was a cool feeling 20.3°C at 11pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 25.7°C (real feel 26°C) and the minimum was 17.6°C.
This day last year was hot, cloudy with sunny spells. The breeze steadily increased but the sea remained calm. The clouds all but disappeared for the almost monochromatic sunset with just a few clouds to add interest. It was a warm evening with a fuzzy moon and a few stars. The maximum temperature was 27.1°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum 23.0°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. I had to get up a bit earlier than usual as I was taking a friend to the airport. It was a warm night with the temperature staying above 20°C at 21.3°C. Morning brought a very cloudy sky and evidence of a spot or two of rain. The mainland was lost in the haze across a calm and silent sea. There was a bit of breeze as well. On our way to town the mountain tops were hidden in the clouds, and the wind felt very warm coming into the car. There was even a spot of two of rain at the airport but barely any sun. It stayed like that all the way back to Troumpeta. As I topped the ridge and one of the best views on the island came into view, I saw that in the north the clouds were broken with good patches of blue and plenty if sun, though at one place the wind felt very strong.
The temperature at 10 am on Saturday 18th September was 23.5°C real feel 24°C.
The two photos were taken 2 hours apart. The first one at 10am the second at 12 midday. It was duller than the first photo shows.
Yesterday started off quite sunny with a few clouds around, with a flat calm and no breeze. There was thin high cloud later that veiled the sun. This cloud continued to increase steadily with the breeze giving us some small white horses out in the channel. We ended up with quite a covering of cloud giving us long dull spells. The wind died away completely and the clouds partially dispersed giving some sunny spells as the clouds ended up congregated to the south and east. I missed the sunset but I suspect it was very hazy. When I stuck my head out of the door for my late evening check we had an almost full moon back-lighting a sky full of small clouds. It felt warm in the southerly breeze at 23.5°C at 10.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 26.1°C (real feel 27°C) and the minimum was 18.0°C.
I have no data for this time last year so am using Dave’s report. Good morning from Sfakera; Jan is off back to the UK until late October and I will cover the reports while she is away. We wake to a full gray sky and very light shower. The air is damp after the rains throughout the night. There is just a very gentle breeze. It is still warm enough to wear just a vest or t-shirt and shorts.
Wednesday was another day similar to the previous few with plenty of haze around and later some high thin cloud that cleared when a light wind picked up. A lovely sunny afternoon with the wind easing to a breeze and it was hot sat in the sun. There was a fine starlit night with a crescent moon. Minimum was 20.7c and maximum was 33.1c.
Yesterday we woke to warning of bad weather as follows....
One of the strongest Mediterranean tropical-like cyclones (medicane) on record has started to hit the Ionian Sea.
Severe Weather warns of an “extremely dangerous” cyclone tonight through Friday morning, with severe impact for western Greece.
Peak gusts could exceed 200 km/h, and huge amounts of rainfall are expected to lead to dangerous flash floods. Along with severe destructive winds, it is expected to bring torrential and excessive rainfall, resulting in dangerous flash floods.
The minimum central pressure of the medicane, officially named Ianos by the National Observatory of Athens, is expected to drop to near 980 mbar, with sustained winds reaching hurricane-force Category 1 strength.
Up to around 400 mm of rainfall is likely in the coming 36 hours, and tornadoes are expected to form along the Ionian coast starting from tonight.
Kathimerini newspaper reports that medicane has begun to make its presence felt on Thursday evening with strong winds blowing. It is expected to hit a large part of the country in the next 48 hours. up in the afternoon.
The day started with plenty of high clouds but the sun was up and we had long sunny intervals. Mid afternoon the clouds started to thicken and darken and the beach umbrellas started to be folded up and the larger ones taken down completely and stored away. We did get a shower in the early evening and it continued throughout the night but we have not as far had strong winds nor torrential rains so it seems we missed the worst of what was forecast. The minimum was 21.6c and the maximum was 30.1c.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.

Good morning from Roda. I was told that we had a short shower at 5am, during what was a warmer night. I awoke to dappled clouds, plenty of blue sky and a faint Albania. There was a gentle breeze and a calm and almost silent sea. By the time I was taking my 10am photo the clouds from the north had just about gone just leaving clearing clouds to the south. It was a nice warm morning to still be enjoying my breakfast on the north balcony.
The temperature at 10 am on Sunday 19th September was 24.0°C real feel 24°C.
The reported UV for Today is 6 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday was a bit of a mixed bag we had spits and spots of rain on and off during the day, with a rumble or two of thunder in the late afternoon with about 30 minutes of rain. In fact, the clouds got very dark and threatening with the sea going that deep green that precedes a good storm. In the morning the clouds were so low that they covered the mountain tops on my way to take a friend to the airport. We did get some periods of sunshine, but the weather was so warm the sun was barely missed except by the sun worshippers! The sunset was hidden by the clouds still lurking to the west, but the rest of the sky was clearing. By the time I did my late night check we had clear skies and an almost full moon with a few stars in the night sky. It was still 24°C at 10.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 27.8°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum was 21.3°C.
Dave’e report from this day last year. Good morning from Sfakera where it was a damp start after light showers in the early hours. Almost full cloud but whiter in shade and brighter to the east. It was nearly 9:30 before we got our first glimpse of the sun.
Yesterday was a gray day but we were lucky as the medicane passed south of Lefkada causing floods, power cuts and fallen trees on Ithica, Keflonia and Zakinthois and big floods overnight on the mainland taking out bridges, some buildings, roads with serious flooding to houses, shopping areas and fields. We had a muggy cloudy day a light shower at 8am and further light mini showers (more spotty than full on) during the afternoon. It was a damp cool evening with again some mini showers and started to rain lightly just after 11:30pm continuing into the early hours.
The maximum temperature was just 25.3c the minimum was 22.1c.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.

Good morning from Roda. It was a warm night with the temperature only falling to 23°C, door open with mozzie net in place and curtain also open to allow cool air to come into the room. We had almost cloudless skies first thing but the clouds have been bubbling up over the mainland and our mountains at the back of me. Albania is only visible because of the crest of clouds she is wearing. There is a breeze and a calm sea with some gentle waves coming ashore. It is going to be another lovely day, as the thunderstorm forecast for today has disappeared, it may just appear tomorrow but I wouldn’t put a bet on it. I’m heading to the beach once I have finished my report.
The temperature at 10 am on Monday 20th September was 25.0°C real feel 26°C.
The reported UV for Today is 6 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday, after the early morning rain, brightened with the clouds clearing from the north but leaving some to the south. The afternoon started with cloudy spell alternating with hot sunshine. We did get a few spits and spots of rain around 1pm, before the clouds cleared to give a lovely sunny and hot afternoon. There were still some clouds around to the west to mask the sunset. But the evening was balmy with an almost full moon and a company of stars. It was still 23°C at 11.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 27.8°C (real feel 32°C) and the minimum was 21.3°C.
Dave’s report from this day last year. Good evening from Sfakera; apologies for the delay but I was at Golden Sands and they have no internet access probably due to the new blocks at Robella. We woke to day to a hazy start, still with some high thin patchy white cloud to the NE and East. The sun rose at 8:15 and the early morning was nice.
Yesterday the early morning sun at 9:30am slowly cleared and we had a nice sunny morning with a light breeze. The afternoon was very pleasant but clouds were building in the west so the sun and light wind stopped about 6pm. The sun did reappear before 7:30pm as a bright orange ball for a wonderful sunset. A starlit night followed. The minimum was 21.3c and the maximum was 30.3 c.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.
