Good morning from Roda. The winds and waves from yesterday gone and we have a calm whispering sea, a gentle breeze and enough haze that Albania is barely noticeable. It was a cool start to the day but the temperature is climbing nicely. There is still a fresher feel to the day at the moment. And we do have rain and thunderstorms on the horizon for the middle oof next week! The temperature at 10 am on Sunday 22nd. August was 25.1°C real feel 26°C.
The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice). With these high levels of UV everyone needs to be slapping on their high factor sun screen. The lowest levels are early in the morning and then from late afternoon when you can enjoy the heat of the sun with less chance of burning.
Yesterday, after a calm start saw the wind really get up in the afternoon to give us big waves coming ashore. The day wasn’t as hot as it has been and feeling much less humid. The clouds to the south melted away, but we got some streaky ones to the west which added to a very lovely sunset as we drove along the coast to Sidari to watch a rock band. One the sun was got out of the way we had a stunning full moon outshining most of the stars and a nice warm evening, but beginning to be cooler now the nights are drawing in. Iyt was only 22°C at 3am.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 28.0°C (real feel 30°C) and the minimum was 21.4°C. Dew point was 20°C, feeling only mildly uncomfortable.
This day last year. The maximum temperature was 27.6°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum 20.8°C. We had a lovely summer’s day with the usual haze, a gentle breeze, clear skies and a calm breeze. The afternoon breeze barely stirred itself and we ended the day with a stunning sunset. It was a pleasant 24°C at the end of the evening.

Good morning from Roda. It was definitely a cool night with the temperature dropping to just under 21°C. Tea on the balcony showed us a very calm world. With the sea a pale blue and flat calm in front of a barely there Albania. There wasn’t even much of a breeze to ruffle the leaves on the trees, let alone the surface of the sea.
The temperature at 10 am on Monday 23rd August was 25.3°C real feel 26°C.

Yesterday, was a lovely late summer’s day, with a reduction in the heat to a more manageable level, with a slight reduction in the humidity which made it feel more comfortable. The breeze barely stirred itself during the afternoon and gratefully gave up the battle by the time the sun was seeking its bed, leaving just a hint if near the sea and giving us tiny waves to come ashore. The sun set as a flaming crimson ball of fire with edges softened by the persistent haze. I managed to get a decent shot of the pink aftermath as I walked into the village last night. It could even be said to be a little cool late on as I sat with a friend enjoying the view from The Boathouse. It was a cool 23.8°C at 11.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 28.9°C (real feel 30°C) and the minimum was 21.0°C. Dew point was 19°C, feeling only slightly uncomfortable.
This day last year. The maximum temperature was 27.2°C (real feel 30°C) and the minimum 20.5°C. It was a very calm day overall with barely any winds and a calm sea. Albania was just visible through the haze. There was another great sunset and a lovely starlit night with sky dotted with clouds.

Good morning from Roda. There is a definite feel in the air that summer is gradually slipping into autumn. The mornings are a little fresher, as are the evening temperatures and the days, though still hot have lost that oppressiveness we endured recently. The weather forecast is showing thunderstorms now for four days, Thursday through to Sunday, though no day seems to have a 100% chance of rain. And as someone said to me, they might just get stuck on the mainland to give us a lovely show but no rain. We shall see. The night was another cool one, so I think my fans can be put away for the rest of the year now. Having my cuppa on the north balcony showed another hazy day, with Albania barely making its presence felt. We had cloudless pale skies, a gentle breeze and a calm and silent sea.
The temperature at 10 am on Tuesday 24th August was 24.9°C real feel 25°C.
The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday, was another very nice late summer’s day. Wall to wall sunshine, just the right amount of breeze and heat. The sea was calm all day with barely a wave on it. I missed the sunset, but could see the haze turn red as the sun retired. We had a lovely full moon, not as spectacular as the one from the previous night. I forgot to mention it yesterday, but I was sitting at the Boathouse and this amazingly clear bright orange moon lifted itself into the sky, only slightly losing some of its intensity doing so. The craters looked so clear. Last night’s was good but not that amazing. It was a cool night again with no wind and a calm clear sea. There was a bit of a haze as only the lights from largest village on the mainland could be seen. It was a cool 23°C at 1.30am.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 28.9°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum was 20.8°C. Dew point was 19°C, feeling only slightly uncomfortable.
This day last year. The maximum temperature was 28.0°C (real feel 32°C) and the minimum 21.4°C. We had cloudless skies over us with some clouds over the mainland. It stayed hot and sunny with no real wind all day. A lovely sunset led onto a cooler dark night with plenty of stars.

Good morning from Roda. I was out and about early this morning which is not often for me. It was such a lovely morning but feeling a little chilly. There were a lot of dappled and streaky clouds around to give a glorious sunrise. The photos don’t do it justice, the colours were shades of lemon and grey, all reflected in the calm sea. The mainland was a picture of mysterious ridges in various hues of grey. A morning to feel good to be alive. By the time I took my usual 10am photo the clouds had mostly disappeared overhead and were over the mainland to the east. There was barely a breeze to ruffle the surface of the sea.
The temperature at 10 am on Wednesday 25th August was 24.5°C real feel 25°C.
A couple of shots taken around 8am this morning. So cool and looking stunning.
The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday, was another lovely summer’s day with the heat easing a bit. Though when that cooling breeze dropped and you were out of the shade you soon felt the heat of the sun’s rays. The day stayed hazy throughout, with the afternoon breeze getting up for a while before giving up and dying away altogether. The sunset, what I could see from my balcony was another good one with the sun sinking as a fiery, but fuzzy, crimson disc. The evening was a pleasant temperature giving a hint that the main heat of summer is over and that autumn is just around the corner. It was a dark cool night with the temperature at midnight barely 22°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 28.0°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum was 20.7°C. Dew point was 19°C, feeling only slightly uncomfortable.
This day last year. The maximum temperature was 27.1°C (real feel 30°C) and the minimum 20.8°C. The ay started off with a few clouds but got increasingly cloudy with almost full cloud cover by late afternoon. The breeze sprang up and the clouds went to give a lovely sunset and a dark night.

Good morning from Roda. We have thunderstorms, lightning and rain, what we awoke to was just a cloudy sky after a warmer night. I had to put the fan on for a while. The clouds didn’t look at all threatening but we got a couple of showers between 8 and 9am, hardly enough to wet the ground! Then the skies started to clear and we got a fair amount of blue skies and the sun shining before the clouds started to return. The wind and sea are gentle with Albania veiled by the haze. The clouds have persisted to the south though. We are due more rain this afternoon to last overnight.
The temperature at 10 am on Thursday 26th August was 25.6°C real feel 27°C.

Yesterday, was a lovely sunny day with the wind increasing in the afternoon giving waves coming ashore and right across the channel. It all died away by the evening, returning to a gentle breeze, the sea calming and feeling lovely and warm. The moon was spectacular, rising as a misshapen orange ball gradually rising over the eastern hills. When I got passed the Boathouse it was stunning with the sea reflecting the golden light. You will just have to imagine it as the photo only gives a hint of the beauty. There were still a good cluster of stars joining the lights around the bay. A lovely walk home after a lovely meal with friends in Acharavi followed by dessert at Yummies. It was a balmy 24°C at 11pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 28.6°C (real feel 32°C) and the minimum was 20.5°C. Dew point was 22.6°C, feeling humid. A very poor shot of the amazing orange moon rising above the bay. It was stunning.
his day last year we had clear skies, quite a bit of haze, a calm sea and a minimal breeze. It got very breezy later on giving white horses in the channel and big waves coming ashore. It all calmed down for the evening. The maximum temperature was 28.0°C (real feel 30°C) and the minimum 22.7°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. Sorry for the late report I slept in and had to clear up after the heavy overnight rains. It was a fresh morning and very cloudy with calm sea and not much of a breeze. The haze is back with the mainland also capped with a bank of clouds. As the morning progressed the skies started clearing to the north with the sun making an appearance. Still very cloudy to the south. We had another quick shower around mid-day coming from the clouds behind us, with sunshine to the north of us. The temperature is slowly creeping up, but is still cool for the time of year.
The temperature at 10 am on Friday 27th August was 24.0°C real feel 24°C.
The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. The lowest levels are early in the morning and then from late afternoon when you can enjoy the heat of the sun with less chance of burning.
Yesterday, started off with a couple of short sharp showers here, but not over the entire island. Kavalouri didn’t get anything. The clouds cleared from the north giving us some sunshine, before closing in again and we got a short thunder and lightning storm with a few spots of rain around mid-afternoon. Then it started to come out nicely with decent amounts of sunshine, feeling humid due to that rain. We had clouds back again by the evening with dappled ones to the north and more solid ones to the south. The evening ended with a spectacular lightning show over the mainland. It was a warm 24°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 27.8°C (real feel 32°C) and the minimum was 22.3°C. Dew point was 22.6°C, feeling humid.
This day last year. The maximum temperature was 27.8°C (real feel 32°C) and the minimum 21.0°C. Lovely summer’s day with cloudless skies, only a slight haze, calm seas and not much wind. Stayed clear for the evening after a mono sunset.

Good morning from Roda. For me it was a decidedly cool night with the dawn temperature hovering just under 20°C. Taking my second cup of tea onto the balcony I found that we had a very pretty looking sky with lots of clouds around, but not interfering with the sun. The mainland is only slightly hazy across a pale and calm sea with a deep inky blue band just in front of the mainland. There is barely a breeze to ruffle the trees. Normal service is resumed after our spat of rain with a thunder and lightning storm.
The temperature at 10 am on Saturday 28th August was 24.0°C real feel 24°C.
The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. The lowest levels are early in the morning and then from late afternoon when you can enjoy the heat of the sun with less chance of burning.
Yesterday started off very cloudy after the overnight storm. I understand the rain was torrential with extremely high winds for just a matter of minutes. There was a nice fresh rain-washed feel to the morning, with calm seas and a gentle breeze. The clouds gradually cleared away from the north, staying persistent to the south. There was a short shower around mid-day coming from those southern clouds. The clouds continued to clear, so that at sunset there wasn’t any left in the sky. As I walked into the village, I watched the sun sink behind the headland in a blaze of yellow to be replaced quickly after with a lovely band of crimson against the deep blue sky. It was a warm evening with a half moon and plenty of stars. The haze had cleared to allow a good showing of the lights from the mainland. It was 22.6°C at 1am.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 27.8°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum was 21.1°C. Dew point was 22.0°C, feeling humid.
This day last year. The maximum temperature was 27.0°C (real feel 29°C) and the minimum 19.5°C. A hazy day followed a cool night. There was a bit of a breeze in the afternoon which died away for the evening. The skies stayed clear all day except for a few over the mainland hills.

Good morning from Roda. I have been reliably informed that we had a heavy shower at 5am this morning, which would account for my wet car when I woke up this morning. Opening the curtains to a bright morning with a blue sky populated with pretty dappled clouds. The sea was calm and silent, with the mainland veiled in a bit of a haze. It was feeling fresh as I enjoyed my second cup of tea on the balcony with gentle jazz sounds drifting up from Nino’s. A day to be glad to be alive.
The temperature at 10 am on Sunday 29th August was 24.4°C real feel 24°C.
The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday was not a day our visitors would have been happy about as we had quite a lot of clouds around, giving some dull periods with the sun gone completely at times. I had a trip to Skripero and had a few spots of rain both going and coming back. The afternoon saw the clouds gradually being banished from the skies, until at sunset they were all gone. It was a very pretty affair with the hills flushing pink as the golden ball of the sun sank behind the headland. The lower sky turned crimson with clouds tinged with pink. The evening was calm and warm, but as I walked back home from the village after a night of rock music in Sidari there was a single huge cloud to the east flashing with lightning with distant rumbles of thunder! The rest of the sky was clear with a half-moon and plenty of stars. It was still a pleasant 22.8°C at 2.30am.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 27.8°C (real feel 30°C) and the minimum was 19.5°C. Dew point was 22.0°C, feeling humid.
This day last year. The maximum temperature was 26.9°C (real feel 30°C) and the minimum 19.9°C. We had a lovely calm and sunny day with a calm sea and a gentle breeze. Except from the afternoon when the breeze stiffened and we got choppy seas out in the channel. A pleasant warm evening with the temperature 23°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a coolish night and I awoke to as crystal clear a morning as you can get at this time of year. Albania was looking lovely across the channel which was all shades of blue and turquoise. There is a bit of a stiff breeze threatening to blow my crossword off the balcony. There are no clouds in the deep blue sky. It is going to be a lovely day, with a more bearable heat.
The temperature at 10 am on Monday 30th August was 24.0°C real feel 24°C.

Yesterday was quite a cloudy day, but for most of the day they didn’t interfere with the sun, but they did gather a bit more in the afternoon to give a few dull spells. They did clear mostly away from the north but persisted in the south. There were just enough to give us a very pretty sunset. There was a bit of a breeze in the evening, and the sea got a bit noisy. We had a dark moonless night with plenty of stars and lights from around the bay. The wind had a nice warm feeling to it. The temperature at midnight was a pleasant 23.1°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a cool night with the temperature dropping below 20°C by dawn. An early morning excursion to the bathroom saw that we had a lovely start to the day with clear skies and the mainland flushed pink with the dawn. When I did eventually get up the mainland was still so clear with the sun highlighting all the ridges that you normally don’t see. The big waves off yesterday had gone just leaving the gentle sound of waves lapping on the shore. Also, the winds of yesterday were gone temporally as we are due strong north-westerlies over the next two days. Late morning saw a strange thin brownish cloud appear over part of the mainland.
The temperature at 10 am on Tuesday 31st August was 23.5°C real feel 24°C.
The reported UV for Today is 7 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday was a day of sunshine and clear skies over us. The mainland saw pretty fluffy clouds hovering over the mountain peaks. We had a very strong wind all day. I spent the afternoon on Astrakeri beach being sand blasted. But it was nice to be able to sunbathe without getting burnt, and I did enjoy a nice little swim. The wind forced the sea into large waves crashing over the harbour rocks and the headland. They looked so pretty in front of Roda with their white foamy peaks before they crashed onto the shore. There was a fairly standard sunset leading onto a dark moonless night, but with plenty of stars and lights from across the channel. It was cool 20.8°C at 1am.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 26.7°C (real feel 27°C) and the minimum was 20.3°C.
The view from the pretty little café on Astrakeri beach.
This day last year. The maximum temperature was 26.9°C (real feel 29°C) and the minimum 19.9°C. It was a cloudless day with only a gentle breeze and not much haze, so the mainland was fairly clear all day. A few clouds appeared by the fuzzy sunset but failed to add anything to it. A full moon with plenty of stars and lights around the bay. The temperature was 22.5°C at midnight.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES
The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.

Good morning from Roda. Kalo mena to everyone for the first of September. It was a cool night with a pleasant fresh feel in the morning. The low humidity made the mainland lovely and clear across a blue calm sea. A very pretty picture indeed. The wild fire that produced that strange cloud yesterday was out. That was the first wildfire on the mainland I have seen so far this year. They usually leave them to burn themselves as they far above where people live.
The temperature at 10 am on Wednesday 1st September was 23.3°C real feel 24°C.
The reported UV for Today is 7 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11.
Yesterday was a lovely day with mostly very clear blue skies and a freshening breeze in the afternoon. Any tiny fluffy clouds stayed pit over the mainland, where they were added to by the brownish plume of smoke from a cluster of wildfires. The strong breeze in the afternoon gave us pretty white crested waves across the channel, before mostly subsiding when that breeze ran out of steam by the evening. The sunset was a stunning crimson band across the horizon with a cobalt blue background. The night was so clear with a moonless star-studded sky with so many lights around the bay. There was a residual glow from those wildfires on the mainland. It was a cool 21°C when I got in from the rock night at the Sailor at 1.30am. Good morning from Roda. It was another cool night; autumn is not far away. The mainland was so clear again this morning across a very choppy sea with hints of white capped waves further out in the channel. The sky is mostly clear with just a tiny cloud or two to mar the effect. There is just a gentle breeze, but we are expecting strong winds again by the late afternoon.
The temperature at 10 am on Thursday 2nd September was 23.8°C real feel 24°C.
The reported UV for Today is 7 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11.
Yesterday was a lovely day with clear cloudless skies for the most part. What clouds that appeared were small and inoffensive. We got a strong wind in the afternoon that threatened to blow my washing to Ipsos! It brought with it big white crested waves filling the bay. The sunset was another stunning band of deep red across the horizon against a deep blue background. We had a power cut in the late evening and I went out onto the balcony to check the extent, which did seem to be quite local. But, oh my God, the stars! Due to the lack of light pollution, there were so many, I just stood and stared for a long time. There were plenty of village lights on the mainland winking through the trees, and those of Acharavi were not affected by the power cut. It was a pleasant 24°C at 10.30pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 27.6°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum was 19.8°C.
This day last year. The maximum temperature was 26.7°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum 20.9°C. The wind had cleared the skies for the morning giving lovely views of the mainland. The gentle breeze of the morning gathered strength in the afternoon, bringing with it clouds and waves. The sun was lost for a while. The evening saw breaks in the clouds and the wind dropped.

Good afternoon from Roda. I apologise for my late report but I had a bit of a lie in and then a friend popped round for coffee and we got chatting. It was a cold night with the temperature dropping to just under 18°C. At this rate the cover will be going back on the bed, and the fans away for another year. There was a bit of a haze this morning trying to blur the detail of Albania. The sea looked calm but I could hear noisy waves coming ashore. It certainly feels like the heat of the summer is over for this year and we have a temperature that allows movement without getting everyone into a sweat.
The temperature at 10 am on Friday 3rd September was 22.6°C real feel 23°C.

Yesterday was sunny with clear skies for the most part except for some thin trails of clouds by the afternoon. The strong wind was well established by noon after it was gentle first thing. The view along the bay from Acharavi was beautiful with the long white crested waves on the deep blue sea. The wind stayed with us though diminishing by the end of the afternoon, it was still quite stiff as I walked along the front to Agrillia for a birthday party. The waves coming ashore were not as big as earlier on but still crashing over the harbour wall. It was a cool evening with the temperature a chilly 20.8°C at 12.30am.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 25.6°C (real feel 26°C) and the minimum was 19.8°C.
Roda from outside Fuego at Acharavi mid-day yesterday.
An early evening shot along the Roda beach yesterday. The waves were dying down by then.
This day last year, was very windy with big waves and a sand storm along the beach. The mainland was very clear across the rough seas of the channel. The wind eased from late afternoon and was all but gone by late evening. The maximum temperature was 26.3°C (real feel 27°C) and the minimum 20.3°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a cool night with the chilly dawn waking me up soon after 6am. Have put my coverlet back on the bed now for these cooler mornings. I expect many visitors are still using their aircon in their rooms. It looked very clear this morning but the cloud has been steadily creeping over the sky until we almost had full coverage, but it is starting to break up now to give sunshine and blue patches. It is very thin stuff so may yet melt away completely as the day gets warmer. There is no wind and the sea is flat calm but I can hear waves breaking on the shoreline. We are forecast to have another short, unsettled spell before normal service is resumed. Four days of thunderstorms has been reduced over the last few days to a spell of light rain tonight!
The temperature at 10 am on Saturday 4th September was 22.6°C real feel 23°C.

Yesterday after the cold start was a lovely sunny day, but with a gathering wind by the afternoon bringing us some small, white horses and waves coming ashore. The wind and the waves died away by the evening to almost nothing. There were always a few clouds loitering around but almost always over the mainland and not really causing any problems. Some haze had returned beginning to veil the mainland, but after a non-descript sunset, we had a fairly clear, of cool night. But walking back from the village after a meal at Alexandros in the village, there were plenty of stars in the moonless sky and a good collection of village lights from the mainland and around the bay. IT felt a cool 21.6°C at 11pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 25.8°C (real feel 27°C) and the minimum was 17.6°C.
This day last year was still windy with wild seas. The sky was clear with only a few clouds over the mainland. It was all calming down by the evening. The maximum temperature was 25.9°C (real feel 27°C) and the minimum 21.2°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was another cool night waking to a very pretty start of the day with pastel blue skies dappled with pretty white clouds. By the time I emerged from my bed and my eyes in focus after a couple of cups of tea they sky had been taken over by a complete layer of grey clouds. Albania was fairly clear across the calm seas of the channel. There is just a hint of a breeze to stir the trees. I ate breakfast on the south balcony for the first time in months. We didn’t get the forecast storms and rain, though we could be getting a quick spat over night.
The temperature at 10 am on Sunday 5th September was 22.6°C real feel 23°C.

Yesterday would have been a bit of a disappointing day for our summer visitors as the sun was absent for good long periods. The morning cover did break up a bit to give some blue patches and sunny spells, but then the clouds won and we had a warm if cloudy day. By the late afternoon/ early evening they clouds were breaking up and we saw the mainland bathed in sunlit before it managed to make its way across here. We had a very pretty sunset with very dramatic clouds, again the photos don’t entirely do it justice. But it is a very pretty shot. The clouds continued to clear during the evening to give clear skies by the early morning with plenty of stars over head and a string of lights across the channel in Albania. It was a cool 19.5°C at 2am. I was at a rock night in Sidari last night. What a difference a week makes. Last week Sidari was so busy, last night so very much quieter. The peak of the season has passed now, school children gone to be replaced by the older couples.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 26.7°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum was 18.1°C.
This day last year stayed lovely all day with wall-to-wall sunshine with almost no wind and a calm sea. There was a monochromatic red sunset leading onto a moonlit star-lit night. The maximum temperature was 26.2°C (real feel 27°C) and the minimum 17.8°C.
