Good morning from Roda. Thankfully the house was slightly cooler last night with the temperature just a shade under 22°C. I awoke to a clear blue sky with just the occasional thread of cloud trying to spoil the overall effect. Albania is still pretty clear after being so clear last night. There is barely any breeze to speak of and the sea is blue, slightly ruffles with some noise from the waves making it over the incessant cicadas. The winds we had yesterday have certainly cleared the air and with the slightly lower temperatures it is feeling nice and comfortable this morning.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 7th. August was 24.8°C real feel 25°C.
The reported UV for Today is 9 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice). With these high levels of UV everyone needs to be slapping on their high factor sun screen. The lowest levels are early in the morning and then from late afternoon when you can enjoy the heat of the sun with less chance of burning.
Yesterday was windy for most of the day with quite stiff periods at times that sent parasols flying through the air. The haze melted away giving stunning views of the mainland with a sea of emeralds and sapphire blues flecked with white crested waves out in the channel and decent sized brilliant white crested waves delighting many people as they hit the shore. With the haze and humidity going the temperatures dropped and made it all feel much more comfortable. The skies had been mostly clear with the only clouds bubbling over the mainland. By the time the sun was thinking about setting all the clouds had gone, and the mainland turned a wonderful shade of purple getting increasingly dark as the sun set. Which was just a stunning band of red on the horizon. Another poor photo taken from the Boathouse where I was having a drink with Dave and Paula Steele. Walking back home late at night the sky was a mass of stars and all the village lights in Albania shone brightly and it was a perfect temperature of around 25°C. So many people enjoying the cooler night to eat very late. It is not unusual to find Greek families with children eating so late at night.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 28.2°C (real feel 30°C) and the minimum was 24.7°C.
This time last year. The maximum temperature was 25.6°C (real feel 27°C) and the minimum 20.3°C. The day started with clear skies except over the mainland. Clouds increased during the day to give some spots of rain and a few rumbles of thunder mid-afternoon; it was breezy at times. The clouds mostly then disappeared just leaving a few to make it a good sunset.
TEMPERATURE EXTREMES
The maximum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was 31.0°C on 1st. August. The minimum shade temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2020 was -1.4°C. 8th. January.
My recorded temperatures The highest recorded temp 2021 33.0°C 5th August The lowest recorded temp 2021 1.7°C 19th. January The maximum recorded temperature ever in Corfu was 42.8°C The lowest recorded temperature was -8.8°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a rather cool night with me needing the sheet at least. Morning came with clear skies and hardly any breeze with the haze rerunning to slightly mask the mainland. The sea is a beautiful shade of blue, slightly ruffled with barely heard waves coming ashore. Another lovely summer’s day is in store, a day for lazing around the pool or the beach and indulging in a Sunday lunch somewhere.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 8th. August was 25.3°C real feel 25°C.

Yesterday was lovely all day. It didn’t really get too hot and there was a pleasant afternoon breeze to temper the worst of the heat of the afternoon. Due to the haze, there was a very pretty but slightly fuzzy sunset in a cloudless sky as the few trails of clouds had easily been burnt off by the afternoon. The evening wasn’t as sultry as previous ones, and I enjoyed my walk back from the village, with some stars in the dark sky and plenty of lights on both sides of the channel. It was feeling maybe just a tad cool at 22.5°C at midnight.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 29.0°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum was 21.6°C.
This time last year. The maximum temperature was 30.1°C (real feel 35°C) and the minimum 20.8°C. The morning had a substantial covering of cloud with no wind and a calm sea with gentle waves. The clouds cleared and the temperature quickly rose. Still a few clouds around for sunset and the evening.

Good morning from Roda. It was a cool night with the temperature dropping to 21°C, so no fans required! Morning came with a clear blue sky, wall to wall sunshine and pretty decent views of the mainland with only a slight haze. The was a gentle breeze to ruffle the surface of an otherwise very calm and blue sea. If there are any waves, I can’t hear them above the cacophony that is made by the cicadas. We are due to have another dose of high temperatures with even higher real feel value by the middle of the week. There is no end in sight to this dry spell, with not even a threat of one of our amazing thunder storms to give us a downpour. The weather certainly isn’t helping the poor firefighters on Evia and in Attica.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 9th. August was 25.3°C real feel 25°C.
The reported UV for Today is 9 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday was another day when it felt hot and sticky due to the high humidity, with it reaching around 75%. Too much water vapour to dry any sweat (or glow for us ladies). It did get quite windy in the afternoon, strong enough to wrap my sheets several times round the washing line, before completely subsiding for the evening. There were a few dappled clouds around by the late afternoon, lingering to add just that bit of interest to the sunset. The mainland stayed quite clear all day giving us lovely vistas, especially as the sun was setting. The sea was so calm, reflecting all the dying light, I just had to take the photo from my seat at the Brandy Shop. The new dirt track leading to the harbour bridge is attracting so many people to watch the sunset from. And, last night it was a stunner. The evening was had a pleasant feel to it as Dave, Paula and myself went up to the Melinda apartments to pay our respects to Adonis after the death of his son a week ago yesterday. We then enjoyed a very late-night meal at Roda Park. So, again, it was quite late when I got to my bed! The temperature when I got home was 23°C
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 28.3°C (real feel 32°C) and the minimum was 20.5°C. Views from The Brandy Shop last night. The last one shows a strange phenomenon, looking like a laser beam in the sky.

We are having a gentle start to the day after a fairly cool night. We have clear cloudless skies, a gentle breeze and a calm sea. The haze is back with Albania trying to hide herself from us. There was a strange sea level bank of cloud in front of her this morning first thing that soon went. The temperature is slowly increasing, though we are forecast to get a real feel way above the actual temperature!
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 10th. August was 25.3°C real feel 26°C.

Yesterday was very hot and humid feeling for most of the day. I had a trip out to Ipsos, and even by the sea there it was feeling so hot. The temperature difference between Roda and Skipero must have been several degrees as it was meltingly hot. There wasn’t even must of a breeze to help you feel a little cooler. The day ended up with no breeze a calm sea and a very fuzzy sunset. The haze must have cleared though because when I did my late night check there was a multitude of stars, and the marble felt pleasantly cool under my bare feet. It was still 25°C though at 11pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 29.3°C (real feel 35°C) and the minimum was 21.0°C. Dew point was 25.1°C, very unpleasant.
This time last year. The maximum temperature was 29.3°C (real feel 27°C) and the minimum 21.6°C. The day started with a flat calm sea, a gentle breeze and a lot of haze. We did get a few pretty clouds followed by this high stuff. There was a warm calm evening.

Good morning from Roda. It was a warmer night but not too difficult for sleeping. Opening my curtains showed a very white sky with lots of thin high cloud which is masking the sun, making it appear very weak. We have a significant amount of haze all but hiding the mainland which just about has a presence on the other side of the channel. There is a bit of a breeze which is supposed to get stronger later on in the day. The sea is slightly ruffled and silent, well the cicadas are very loud still! There is a drop in the UV level but it is still very high.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 11th. August was 27.3°C real feel 28°C.
The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday was a bit of a strange day. It started off as a normal day with clear sunny skies and some haze. Then in the early afternoon the fog rolled in and the clouds came down, and we lost the sun and I couldn’t see passed The Coral Hotel. Just as suddenly it all disappeared and normality resumed. The afternoon was hot and sunny feeling very humid though. We got the usual afternoon breeze which died away as usual for the evening. The sunset was just a bit of a hazy non-event. The evening was very warm with clear skies with plenty of stars and lights on both sides of the channel. It was a very balmy feeling 25°C at 2am.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 29.0°C (real feel 34°C) and the minimum was 21.7°C. Dew point was 24.3°C, very unpleasant.
This time last year. The maximum temperature was 28.0°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum 21.8°C. A mostly clear day with a lot of haze. The sea and the breeze were both very gentle. Some clouds built up over mainland but didn’t affect us and we had a clear night.

Good afternoon from Roda. I went into Roda this morning for coffee and had a late one last night so my body wasn’t terribly keen to move enough to get my report done before I went out. I did meet friends for a lovely catch up. Then because I was already out, I went and took the rubbish to the bins. Anyway, back to the weather. I was a warm night, apparently with some strong winds in the small hours, but I sleep through them. Morning brought clear cloudless skies and a pretty clear view of the mainland across the beautiful blue channel. The sea is calm but there are noisy waves hitting the shore. There is quite a nice breeze taking the edge off the heat, and it is very pleasant down at the beach.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 12th. August was 27.3°C real feel 28°C.
The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday was just hot and humid all day, with a covering of thin high cloud hiding the dun for quite a spell during the day. The sun did manage to make an appearance by the late afternoon, but there was still a substantial amount of high cloud and haze to make the sunset a bit of a damp squib. The high humidity made the day feel just impossibly hot. It was a very warm and humid evening, with the best time after 10pm. As I walked through the village so many people were still eating very late into the evening, even into the early morning! The haze disappeared as usual in the evening giving us lots of stars and plenty of lights on both sides of the channel from a cruise ship slowly making its way westward with disco lights dancing from the top deck. It was still 26°C at 1am, with the temperature in the house 29°C!
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 31.2°C (real feel 38°C) and the minimum was 23.7°C. Dew point was 25.1°C, very unpleasant.
This time last year. The maximum temperature was 28.2°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum 22.1°C. A clear sunny day with bubbling clouds over the mainland, feeling very humid though, and a clear balmy night.

Good morning from Roda. It was a slightly cooler night outside but my inside temperature was still hovering between 28 and 29°C! Taking my breakfast onto the balcony I found that we still had quite a bit of haze with Albania a series of grey ridges across a very blue but noisy sea. There is barely a breeze to cool the body with the humidity rising steadily. There is still no sign of any rain on the horizon for the next ten days.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 13th. August was 27.3°C real feel 28°C.
The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday was cloudless during the daylight hours, but late at night we had a sky covered with dappled clouds. The day itself was hot and sunny feeling very humid that made moving around uncomfortable. The breeze just seemed to be absent for most of the day with only gentle stirrings in the afternoon. We had a gorgeous deep crimson sunset. There was a line of us on the steps of the To Neon at Sfakera all trying to capture that elusive colour and all failing. The evening was balmy but comfortable as we enjoyed anight cap at The Boathouse, with plenty of stars between the small clouds, a waxing crescent moon and a lack of haze which made the lights around the bay stand out. It was 26°C at midnight Yesterday the maximum temperature was 31.5°C (real feel 36°C) and the minimum was 23.7°C. Dew point was 23.0°C, marginally less unpleasant.
The photos are of that sunset and David and Paula Steele at the kafenion in Sfakera.
This time last year. The maximum temperature was 28.2°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum 22.6°C. A very hazy day after a hot night. It was clear, sunny and breathless with the only energetic things with energy were the birds and the noisy cicadas. Not much in the way of winds and a calming sea.

Good morning from Roda. It was a cool night, for me, with the temperature dropping to 22°C. I had to switch the fan off and pull the sheet up as I was cold around 6am. When I opened my bleary eyes, we had yet another beautiful day. There were clear blue skies with only a few token clouds over the mainland, which was partially veiled with the haze. The sea is flat calm and if there are waves, I can’t hear them above the noise of the cicadas. There is just a hint of a breeze, which won’t do much to alleviate the heat later on in the day.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 14th. August was 25.5°C real feel 28°C.

Yesterday was another hot and humid day, with hardly any relief from the breeze which was pleasant at the beach but you soon lost it as soon as you moved even a little way from it. It stayed that way until the time the sun went to bed. It was rather stunning with the westerly sky after the world had flushed pink. The bottom half f the sky turned pale orange all reflected in the flat calm sea. I was at home so only got a glimpse of it. When I went out to check for my late-evening report there was the most amazing blood red crescent moon setting over Karousades, amongst a scattering of stars. I have never seen anything like that before. The temperature was a humid 25.6°C. Yesterday the maximum temperature was 31.0°C (real feel 36°C) and the minimum was 22.5°C. Dew point was 23.4°C, feeling humid.
This time last year. The maximum temperature was 28.6°C (real feel 33°C) and the minimum 22.0°C. A hot day with clear skies, very hazy, a calm sea with breaking waves and a gentle breeze. It felt hot, hazy and humid all day even into the evening with the late night temperature at 25°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was another coolish night, but it still isn’t reaching the inside of my apartment which is only varying between 28-29°C. The morning brought clear cloudless skies with wall-to-wall sunshine. There isa breeze to try and cool things down, and the sea is an inviting shade of blue with a slight whisper of waves coming ashore. We still have quite a bit of haze, but there is some detail to be seen on the mainland. The temperature at 10am on Sunday 15th. August was 25.5°C real feel 28°C.

Yesterday was hot and sunny all day with a lot of haze veiling the mainland. The breeze stayed gentle except for gather a little more pace in the afternoon. The sea stayed beautiful and calm with little in the way of waves. I had a paddle and it is very warm close to the shore. There was another stunning sunset, poorly captured form my seat at the Brandy Shop. This was followed by a very warm night with plenty of stars. The almost half moon was a bright orange as it set in the west. It was a slightly cooler evening with the late night temperature 24.3°C.
The view from the harbour wall towards Nino’s showing how much the harbour has silted up.
Last night’s sunset from the Brandy Shop. Yesterday the maximum temperature was 30.5°C (real feel 34°C) and the minimum was 22.1°C. Dew point was 22.1°C, feeling marginally less humid.
This time last year. The maximum temperature was 28.5°C (real feel 33°C) and the minimum 21.7°C. We had a deep haze all day with clouds bubbling up with the afternoon breeze. More clouds to the west together with thin high ones created fuzzy sunset. The clouds did start to come down the mountains behind us as well. It was the day when we were plagued with mozzies. Hope they don’t do a repeat performance. Still 26°C at 11pm.

Good morning from Roda. It was a cool night with the temperature down to 21°C, waking up to the end of a very pretty dawn, watching the rose of dawn flushing the sea and the mainland mountains. When I eventually heaved my carcass out of bed, revived with a cup of tea, I saw that the weather we have had seemingly of weeks now continues. So, Albania was barely making a presence on the horizon, you could just about make out the ridges but that detail quickly faded as the mainland got further away from view. We have the merest of breezes and a flat calm and silent sea. The sky was clear with not even a wisp of a cloud in sight. It’s going to be another hot and humid day, with no rain or change for at least the next ten days. The only thing that does change is the strength and direction of the wind. The temperature at 10am on Monday 16th. August was 25.3°C real feel 28°C.
The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11. Yesterday was yet another hot and humid day with the real feel temperature way above the actual one. The sky remained mostly clear with only a few clouds being brave enough to venture onto the periphery before being chased away. There really wasn’t much of a breeze, quite pleasant on the beach, but fading once you turned away from it. The haze persisted all day giving us another fuzzy red and beautiful sunset. The evening sky had a lovely half-moon floating high in the sky amidst a good scattering of stars. It was a very pleasant 25°C at 10.30pm. The early temperature was because I have had a lot of late nights and I stayed in last night to recover.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 29.7°C (real feel 35°C) and the minimum was 21.9°C. Dew point was 24°C, feeling very sticky.
This time last year. The maximum temperature was 28.6°C (real feel 33°C) and the minimum 24.2°C. After a hot night we had a hot hazy day with periods of strong winds giving us waves and white horses. The haze cleared with the wind for a while before returning. It was a very warm evening at 26°C at end of the day.

Good afternoon from Roda. Sorry a late report as a friend popped round for coffee this morning and we got chatting. It was another reasonably cool night with the temperature a cool 21°C at dawn. Drawing the curtains there was the almost standard view that we have had for many weeks now. Albania has a little more detail on the bits closest to Roda, the rest is progressively lost in the haze. There is a pleasant but gentle breeze on my front balcony. The sea is a lovely shade of blue, very calm and silent. The sky is clear and cloudless. The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 17th. August was 25.5°C real feel 27°C.
The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+). Some weather sites have the UV at 11.
Yesterday was hot and humid feeling with clear skies and a calm sea. The breeze did become stiff in the early afternoon, but soon gave up the effort and collapsed into nothing. The haze stayed with us all day giving us another fuzzy subset. Quite beautiful with the sky reflected in a mirror-like sea. Late bathers were reduced to mere silhouettes against the setting sun. The evening was quite muggy early on but once you get close to 9pm it all starts to feel very comfortable. We had clear night-time skies with a half-moon floating amidst a sea of stars. It was still 25°C at 11pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 30.0°C (real feel 37°C) and the minimum was 21.7°C. Dew point was 25°C, feeling very sticky.
A couple of evening photos of the beach at Roda last night.
This time last year. The maximum temperature was 29.7°C (real feel 36°C) and the minimum 22.8°C. We had a gentle breeze with a few streaks of clouds in an otherwise clear sky. The afternoon breeze gave us a choppy sea. Got a deep haze later on in the day plus a build of clouds. Balmy evening with midnight temperature 25°C. This day last year we had that awful fire at Emritis.

Good morning from Roda. It was another nice cool night waking up to what is now a standard morning. We have extensive haze with Albania almost fading into the distance. We have clear cloudless blue skies and a flat calm sea and a gentle breeze. It is going to be another hot and humid feeling day. The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 18th. August was 25.6°C real feel 27°C.

Yesterday was a repeat of all the previous days, basically it stayed hot, humid and hazy all day. We didn’t get much relief from the slight breeze before fading away completely. The only time it is a pleasant temperature is late on at night. I managed to just catch a photo of the end of the sunset. I took the photo near Ammos, by the time I got to the Coral it was gone. The evening was warm and balmy with a sky full of stars and a waxing slightly bigger than half moon floating around in the sky. There weren’t many lights from the mainland though. It was slightly cool at 2am when the temperature was 23.5°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 30.7°C (real feel 38°C) and the minimum was 21.7°C. Dew point was 25°C, feeling very sticky.
This day last year. The maximum temperature was 30.0°C (real feel 37°C) and the minimum 22.6°C. We had another hazy day with clear skies and a gentle breeze. The afternoon saw the breeze stiffening and the sky almost completely covered with cloud. It all melted away to give a fuzzy sunset and a clear night.

Good morning from Roda. It was a warm night waking up to the persistent haze, with the mainland a barely seen presence. We have a bit of a breeze which is stirring up the noisy waves I can hear coming ashore. We have the usual blue skies but today it has a few clouds dotted around. It was a couple of degrees warmer at 10am but hasn’t moved much in the meantime. Another lovely day for the visitors. Most locals with gardens are preying for rain! We haven’t had any real rain since 15thMay! The temperature at 10am on Thursday 19th. August was 27.1°C real feel 29°C.

Yesterday was a little less hot that the previous day and also feeling marginally less sticky and humid, but the difference would be barely felt. We did get a very nice breeze spring up in the afternoon for a while, but it started to die away once the sun went to its bed. We had a stunning sunset I could see it as I walked down the lane. I got to the bottom to join a string of people all trying to capture the beauty before them. The night was warm, but very pleasant by the sea where you could get some relief from the remains of the breeze. We had a 2/3 moon floating amidst some stars, but there were no lights from the mainland. It was a very balmy 26°C at 11pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 29.3°C (real feel 34°C) and the minimum was 21.2°C. Dew point was 24°C, feeling slightly less sticky.
This stunning steam yacht is currently moored off Roda at the moment. She was lit up like a Christmas tree last night.

This time last year. The maximum temperature was 27.9°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum 23.6°C. After a warm night we had some clouds over us and a bank of them over the mainland. Still hazy and we had quite a breeze. It got very windy and swept all the haze away to give stunning views of the mainland. So many stars and lights at night, it was 24°C at midnight.

Good afternoon from Roda. Many apologies for the very late report, but I ran some friends into Corfu town to get their fingerprints done for their Biometric residency card. It was a very cool start to the day; I am not usually outside that early in the morning! The windscreen was even fogging up! However, we did have clear skies, a calm sea with long waves coming ashore. There was a bit less haze so that you could see the full length of the mainland. The temperature at 8 am on Friday 20th. August was 22.0°C real feel 22°C.

Yesterday was yet another hot and humid day. Albania was almost lost in the haze and the breeze didn’t shift it at all. It got even breezier with white capped waves coming ashore, and white horses out in the channel. I missed the sunset, but I did see the lovely shade of purple that the mainland turned by the middle of the evening. I was in a very busy Kassiopi having fresh grilled sardines at The School House. It was a lovely warm evening with an almost full moon and a good handful of stars. It was a very sultry 26°C at 10pm.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 30.5°C (real feel 38°C) and the minimum was 23.2°C. Dew point was 25°C, feeling very humid.
This day last year was a cooler fresher feeling day. There was the standard gentle breeze, but the haze had almost gone to reveal the mainland in all its beauty. The sea looked calm further out but we did have white topped waves coming ashore. The colours were stunning, deep turquoise against the white foam of the waves. There was an amazing flame red sunset leading onto cool evening. The maximum temperature was 27.1°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum 21.6°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was definitely a much cooler feeling night with the temperature dropping to 21°C. Walking onto the balconies I found that we had a few clouds to the south, but to the north it was clear skies all the way. There was still a haze but I could still make out the mainland across a ruffled sea, which had deeper green shades than the usual blues, not picked up by the photo. We still have waves coming ashore though. There is a bit of a breeze threatening to blow my crossword off the table.
The temperature at 10 am on Saturday 21st. August was 25.6°C real feel 26°C.

Yesterday had a nice feel about it once away from Corfu town. It was cool first thing but warmed up quite nicely but without the humid feel of the previous days. The breeze got up whipping up the sea into white horses and sending long waves ashore. The haze cleared away nicely in the afternoon to give lovely views of the mainland across the blue sea topped with white horses. There was a bit of cloud around at the sunset with a tad of haze. We had a lovely evening with a 7/8 moon and a good handful of stars. It was much cooler with the temperature at midnight only 23.5°C.
Yesterday the maximum temperature was 29.3°C (real feel 30°C) and the minimum was 21.7°C. Dew point was 18°C, feeling comfortable.
This day last year we had clear skies and a fresh feeling and a little haze. The sea was calm but we had noisy waves coming ashore. The breeze went and the sea was calm by the time we had a lovely sunset. The maximum temperature was 27.2°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum 20.5°C.
