Good afternoon from Roda. As I was settling back into bed with my morning cup of tea there was a short thunder and lightning storm. Looking out there obviously had been rain during the night as the puddles were bigger. There were some blue patches later on but it didn’t look promising with threatening clouds. Later on, the blue patches got overcome with clouds and murk started coming down the mountain. The sea looks ruffled but with no real waves as wind is coming from the south. Albania has disappeared from across the channel.
Yesterday wasn’t a great day after a promising start with blue skies. The clouds though started to take over and we had a sharp late morning shower with hail on higher ground and snow on the higher peaks on the mainland was seen. There we spells of very heavy rain starting off as showers but getting more settled as the day wore on. A twister was photographed behind Erikousa Island. There was very heavy settled rain in the evening, but it did dry up towards bedtime when a quick look outside showed a few stars and some clouds and it was dry. It was a mild 14°C in the late evening.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 9th December was 15.1°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 16.0°C and the minimum was 12.0°C. This day last year was day of sunshine and cloud with a flat calm sea. The maximum temperature was 15.7°C, and the minimum was 9.1°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. This morning I woke up to the sound of distant thunder, which soon faded into nothing. There must have been rain during the night, there certainly was a thunder and lightning storm somewhere on the mainland in the late evening which settled into distant rumbles of thunder. This morning saw quite a covering of new snow on the Albanian peaks. It has been a very cloudy morning with the sun making a pitiful attempt at making its presence felt. There is almost no wind and the sea looks dark and choppy. Apparently quite a lot of the sea grass has been deposited over the road by the Boathouse. There have been very wild seas elsewhere in Corfu for the last few days.
Yesterday was a day of rain showers some of them very heavy, even torrential at time. The evening saw thunderstorms on and off during the night. The southerly winds have deposited quite a bit of dust around. The afternoon strong winds mostly died away by the evening. At sunset time the sky went a very funny shade of yellow with a few slightly pinker shades. The noise of the rain at one point in the evening could be heard over the television! It wasn’t cold though with the late evening temperature qute a mild 14°C.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 10th December was 13.2°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 16.5°C and the minimum was 14.1°C. This day last year started and ended with sessions of drizzle with a fairly dry period between. The maximum temperature was 14.1°C, and the minimum was 12.1°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. For once it was a quiet night, no storms, thunder or lightning. If there was, I slept through it, but none have been reported. This morning saw Albania lost in the murk of very fine rain, with the same murk edging down our mountainsides. There is no wind, the sea looks calm and the waves coming ashore are gentle. It I s a day for staying close to the fire and chillaxing.
Yesterday dawned grey but bright, with distant thunder coming from the mainland. There was also a lot of new snow on the Albanian peaks. The sun did try hard to shine through those grey clouds and occasionally succeeded with the afternoon pleasant for a short while. That is until another thunderstorm gathered on the mainland, the winds increased and the sea got choppy with wavelets; there was very heavy rain coming at us from the north. During the day we have had rain on both the north and the south balconies. Towards late afternoon I watched a storm cloud edge towards us turning the most amazing colours in the setting sun, as behind it was clear blue sky. We were lucky enough to get the rare mammatus cloud formation (the second photo) which made the sky look as though it was falling in on us. Later on, around 10pm we had fairly clear skies to the south with quite a scattering of stars and a few clouds around and no wind. It was a cool 11.2°C. Again the photos don't do it justice.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 11th December was 12.3°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 15.0°C and the minimum was 10.9°C. This day last year was a clear day with some cloud around, cooling during evening. The maximum temperature was 15.6°C, and the minimum was 9.1°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a calm, still and grey start to the day here. We have low cloud, so low it is hiding all the high Albanian peaks. There is the merest of breezes and the sea is calm and a distinctly silver-grey colour. Whilst we have been dry so far there have been reports of heavy rain down in Corfu town. It is St Spiridon’s name day here so every Spiros, Spiridoula and all variations. It is also the name day for the island so a public holiday with shops closed. Unfortunately, due to the restrictions there will be no parading our the saint through the streets of Corfu or any church services as they are still closed to public worship. There has been a slight easing for worship on Christmas day and Epiphany. As I type the sun is making a very determined attempt at breaking through the cloud so is quite bright now.
I would prefer not to talk about yesterday, there was nothing nice about it. It was almost constant rain from first thing until well into the evening. At times the wind got quite strong, which added to the miserable cold feeling. So it was surprising when I did my check of the night time weather before going to bed that the sky was almost clear with stars and just a few hints of clouds. It was a cool 11.5°C at 10pm.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 12th December was 12.2°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 12.6°C and the minimum was 10.4°C.
This day last year had a morning of clear skies and sunshine, which turned into rain by the afternoon, clearing in the evening. The maximum temperature was 14.0°C, and the minimum was 6.5°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. What an amazing morning we woke up to. The air was so clear that the views of the sun on the snow-capped peaks on the mainland seemed within touching distance. The sea was a bit ruffled and I could hear waves coming ashore, and there was not much in the way of wind. It is chilly though with the temperature taking its time to climb into double figures. The picture, again, do not do it justice.
Yesterday was a bit of a mixed bag. We started off with quite a bit of promise, it was bright and we had some patches of blue and the sun was making a very determined effort to be seen. However, there were threatened clouds gathering on the horizon and Albania disappeared from across the sea. The clouds won the battle and we had complete covering by mid-afternoon and then we had the start of the rain, initially light, but getting more intense. Then the thunderstorm with lightning kicked in. It didn’t last very long and it stayed dry for the rest of the day, with the clouds gradually moving elsewhere to give us some stars by the time I was ready for bed. The temperature at 10pm was 10.2°C.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 13th December was 9.8°C. Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 14.2°C and the minimum was 9.8°C. This day last year saw very mixed weather with sunshine and clouds but also rain at times. The maximum temperature was 14.3°C, and the minimum was 10.1°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was such a lovely morning, clear practically cloud free skies with a gentle breeze and great clarity of air so that Albania was so clear. The sea was a bright blue topped with white horses and cream topped waves coming ashore.
Yesterday started off lovely with beautiful views of Albania across the calm sea. There were plenty of clouds around but the sun was avoiding them very well. The clouds changed to a more diffuse layer across the sky, for most of the afternoon. The clouds did break up as we approached sunset to give us a beautiful spectacle, so me and my friend just stood and watched in awe. There were enough gaps in the cloud to give us quite a showing of stars, and if I had stayed up later I would have seen lots of shooting stars from the Geminids. It was a cool 11°C at 10pm.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 14th December was 11.6°C. Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 14.0°C and the minimum was 9.8°C. This day last year saw the very heavy rain during the night easing during the morning to stop by lunchtime, giving us a reasonably sunny afternoon. We had high winds however which lasted on and off all day. The maximum temperature was 16.7°C, and the minimum was 9.6°C.

Good morning from Roda. We had a fairly cold night with the dawn temperature around 8°C. But, what a morning, clear cloudless skies and amazing air clarity giving us stunning views of the mainland. There is barely any wind and a calm looking sea, but I can hear waves coming ashore. The heat is climbing steadily and although the shade temperature is only 12°C at the moment but doors and windows are open. My indoor sensor sat in the sun is displaying 30°C!
Yesterday just stayed lovely all day with clear cloudless skies from dawn to dusk and even into the evening. The wind did freshen during the afternoon but died away as evening approached. Sunset was a cloudless monochromatic band of orange across the whole western sky, giving way to a good showing of stars. I still couldn’t stay up long enough to see the shooting stars, but went to bed listening to the sound of the waves coming ashore.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 15th December was 10.7°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 16.8°C and the minimum was 9.1°C.
This day last year was very much the same as today, clear and sunny and warm on the balcony, but with the addition of a few clouds hanging around. We had high winds however which lasted on and off all day. The maximum temperature was 16.8°C, and the minimum was 9.5°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. A delayed report because I had essential bills to pay. A friend very kindly gave me a lift as I am still carless. This morning was mostly clear with a few clouds, and no haze to veil the mainland. There was barely a breath of wind, and the sea was calm and pale blue with a dark indigo blue streak in front of the mainland. However, as the morning progressed the clouds increased.
Yesterday was a beautiful day, sunny and hot in the direct sunshine, but cool in the shade. My friend and I had an afternoon walk around the village enjoying the sunshine, not even needing a jacket or a cardigan. A few clouds did gather as the afternoon progressed especially over the mountain tops on the mainland. There weren’t enough clouds to add anything to the monochromatic sunset. The wind stayed gentle all day and the sea kept the waves coming ashore that still occasionally splashed over onto the road. We had a clear and starlit night, chilly though with the temperature at 10pm only 10°C.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 16th December was 10.9°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 16.0°C and the minimum was 7.7°C.
This day last year sunny and hot in the sun, with a few more clouds around and a slight haze. There was an amazing sunset leading onto a starlit night. The maximum temperature was 17.2°C, and the minimum was 9.7°C.

Good morning from Roda. I was awake early enough to witness the tale end of a rather lovely dawn with pink flushed clouds so pretty against a rather blue sky. When I did eventually emerge from my warm bed, we had lovely blue skies with some clouds scattered around the sky. Although to the north and west there are some thicker ones occasionally hiding the sun. Again we have not much in the way of a breeze and the sea is flat calm and just about silent, pale blue for the most part but with a dark streak in front of the mainland.
Yesterday started off well with lots of sunshine and only a few clouds to darken the horizon. The mainland appeared fairly clear, but became hazier as the day progressed. The clouds gathered to the south which hid the sun at times because it is so low in the sky at this time of year. Towards sunset the clouds did start to disperse giving us a very pretty sunset in shades of pinks and greys after the initial golden blaze of the dying sun. The evening saw the clouds start to thin giving room for plenty of stars to shine. The wind stayed gentle all day, and the sea remained calm. It was a cool 12°C at 10.30pm.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 17th December was 12.4°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 15.0°C and the minimum was 8.0°C.
This day last year started off clear and sunny, with little wind, but with increasing cloud in the afternoon. They diminished in the evening to give us a starlit night. The maximum temperature was 16.2°C, and the minimum was 10.0°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. Sorry for the delayed report I had a lazy start to the day. When I first opened the curtains, we had a lovely morning. A lot of blue skies with just a few mainly wispy clouds and a cloud topping to the Albanian peaks. There was a mist that was blurring the mainland, across a flat calm sea. The lack of any significant wind continues. There were so many bonfires today, leaving the valleys behind me looking misty with the smoke.
Yesterday started off lovely with plenty of blue sky and some pretty clouds around. There was no real wind and the sea remained flat calm all day. The clouds did increase in the afternoon, giving us some cloudy spells, but they did mostly disappear by the time we got to the sunset. Somebody on Facebook posted a photo of an amazing sunset, but the one I saw was lovely but not as special, must have been the angle of view. Walking back from the village as the sun was setting the clouds to the east went this amazing golden apricot colour, all reflected in the almost mirror-like sea. I know I keep saying this, but I just stopped to stare so many times. Again, the photos don’t do it justice. We had a slightly milder evening with a good showing of stars, with some clouds. It was almost windless and 11°C at 10.30pm.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 18th December was 10.8°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 14.8°C and the minimum was 10.8°C.
This day last year was a sunny day, hazy with. They were some clouds around, but they went to give a night sky full of stars. The maximum temperature was 17.7°C and the minimum was 12.7°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a cloudy old morning today, though we have had a few brighter spells. There is some haze such that Albania is not so clear across the still very calm sea. The wind is still almost non-existent, and will stay that way for a few more days yet. The clouds will remain with us for tomorrow and then we are in for a wet spell. The high humidity levels and cold air leave the roads and marble pavements looking as though it has rained, and the grass remains wet with dew all day.
Yesterday had a lovely start with plenty of blue skies with some streaky clouds, but the clouds did increase during the morning, and the haze remained for the rest of the day. The afternoon saw a reduction in the clouds and we ended up with this amazing calm world painted in water colours. I took this photo in the late afternoon when it looks like the sky and the sea merge into each other. The evening was cloudy with no stars visible at 10.30pm when it was a cool 11.2°C.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 19th December was 12.8°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 16.0°C and the minimum was 8.3°C.
This day last year was mostly cloudy but warm enough. The maximum temperature was 17.7°C and the minimum was 11.6°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a very cloudy morning here, though not as threatening as the photos show. It is a few degrees warmer than recent mornings but doesn’t feel it as there isn’t even a hint of the sun. The sea remains calm and we still have that haze that is veiling the mainland and even our hills behind me. The breeze continues to be gentle, with no real winds for many days to come. It is forecast to rain later on this afternoon.
Yesterday stayed mostly cloudy with only the occasional glimpse of sunshine, though it was mild it felt cooler due to the fact that the sun failed to make any sort of a reasonable appearance. The breeze was noted by its absence all day. There was enough of a thinning of the clouds to give a fuzzy hint of a sunset before giving up the effort and mutating into evening. The sea, which had been flat calm all day remained so. I must have counted maybe six small fishing boats out in the channel heading to shore at the tail end of the afternoon. There were enough breaks in the clouds at my night time check for a fair selection of stars to be seen. It was a cool 10.8°C at 10.30pm.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 20th December was 13.5°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 16.0°C and the minimum was 10.1°C.
This day last year had a a thunder and lightning storm with torrential rain during the night. Then it was a day of showers with the occasional patch of blue. The maximum temperature was 17.6°C and the minimum was 15.4°C.

Good morning from Roda. When I threw back the curtains this morning I was greeted with a very pretty picture. There was plenty of pastel blue sections of sky with very decorative white clouds not threatening anything. There was not a breath of wind and the sea was flat calm between us and a mainland that was barely visible through the haze. With the sun out it was lovely to enjoy my breakfast and the telegraph crossword sitting on my balcony. However, the weather had different ideas, only once I had loaded my machine with the bedding the clouds started to gather and the sun had disappeared soon after 11am. I am counting on the fact that no rain, and sunshine is forecast for today and next 4 days.
Yesterday was a very settled day, in that it was cloudy and calm all day with barely any change. We did get a fleeting sight of a patch of blue or a general lightening of the sky. Nothing changed as we went into the evening. I did look long and hard for any glimpse of a star at my late evening check, but nothing. It was a cool 13.2°C as I locked up for the night.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 21st December was 13.2°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 17.0°C and the minimum was 10.3°C.
This day last year started off windy and hazy with a calm sea. The temperature started falling with occasional spits and spots of rain, before heavy rain and extremely windy in the evening. The maximum temperature was 17.8°C and the minimum was 14.7°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a lovely morning here, with masses of blue sky, especially to the north, with the south having morning quite large lumpy clouds which occasionally hide the sun. Still I set my washing machine going and got it out with a second load in. It should be OK as we are due dry weather today and tomorrow before quite a long spell of wet weather. There is hardly any breeze though to stir the washing and we do have some haze, such that Albania is not quiet as clear across the still calm sea. There is a thin cap of clouds clinging to the mountain peaks.
Yesterday was quite a lovely day overall. We had plenty of sunshine and blue skies with the clouds coming and going throughout the day. There was a spell when some heavy day clouds encroached from the west, even enveloping our mountain tops and higher valleys, before thinking better of it. I brought my washing in mid-afternoon just in case. The haze did lift for a while allowing a better viewing of the mainland. The time for sunset saw a bright orange glowing band between the horizon and the bank of clouds, which were tinged a pretty peach colour. The dying light produced a wonderful sight with everything turning a silver colour. The sea was flat calm, even the small boat heading towards the harbour didn’t leave a wake. The sea merged with the haze and the mainland concealed by it. The world was turned into a silent magical diorama, again I just stood and embraced the experience. So grateful that it is at the end of the short lane from my apartment. The evening was mostly cloudy here so no chance of seeing the Christmas star, but I someone from Arillas posted a lovely photo. At my late evening check there was a half moon shining bravely from a break in the clouds, it was a mild feeling 13°C.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 22nd December was 13.0°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 17.0°C and the minimum was 11.5°C.
This day last year saw rain mostly heavy for most of the day with only the occasional blue patch to relieve the misery. The maximum temperature was 17.3°C and the minimum was 13.8°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. Apologies for the late report, I had to go and see the quack to get a prescription for my tablets, and then cash it. I took the long walk back going down passed the church and along through the village taking some different photos for you. It was a mild night and a very pretty tail end of the sunset when I opened the curtains. There was quite a scattering of clouds across a lovely blue sky. As the morning aged these clouds mostly evaporated just leaving a token few. It may only be 15°C in the shade now, but it is very hot in the sun. There is barely any wind and the sea has reverted to being extremely calm. Albania is reasonably clear across the channel with a thin broken cap of clouds. The snow on the front mountain peaks has melted, but you can still see a glimpse of snow capping a higher peak further back.
Yesterday was a lovely day with very long spell of sunshine with only an occasional cloud getting in the way of the sun. The afternoon saw an increase in the breeze, giving a ruffling to the sea and small waves coming ashore. There was a slight increase in the clouds towards sunset to give a very pretty one, I stood on the balcony for quite a while just enjoying the sight. The late evening check saw a half moon playing peek-a-boo with the clouds which were substantial enough to hide what stars there might have been. The reasonably clear early evening skies gave a good view of the Christmas star (the conjunction of Saturn and Jupiter) for some people here on the island. The late evening temperature was a cool 11.8°C.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 23rd December was 13.3°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 15.6°C and the minimum was 10.8°C.
This day last year saw overnight rain with a morning of cloud and blue patches. Got very windy with wild seas and an evening of thunder and lightning. The maximum temperature was 16.3°C and the minimum was 12.0°C.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+).
