Good afternoon from Roda. We had quite a dull start to the day with sufficient loud cover to give some prolonged dull periods. There was just a bit of a breeze and the sea was calm. Albania was playing hide and seek in the mists across the channel with its usual cap of clouds. At times, sat on the front balcony, all I could here was the incessant chirp of the cicadas and Efftichia’s chickens. As the morning progressed, we got a cap of clouds over our mountains filling some of the higher valleys, some of them towering billowing masses.
Yesterday was a humid day of sunshine and clouds, though they rarely interfered with the sun. Though the temperatures were on the low side for July the humidity made it feel hot and sultry. The cloud cover increased during the afternoon, and there were more than enough to give a stunning sunset. It was a very pleasant evening with the temperature at 11pm a pleasant 23°C.

Good morning from Roda. After a bit of a cool night I awoke to clear blue skies, copious amounts of sunshine and a pretty good view of Albania across the channel. In fact, before 9am all that could be heard from my balcony was the sounds of the rasp of the cicadas, the clucks and crows from the chickens and the gentle lap of the waves. A lovely way to enjoy your breakfast. During morning the breeze has strengthened and ruffled the surface of the sea.
Yesterday was a bit of a mixed bag. We had quite a lot of cloud giving some dull spells. Some of the clouds were threatening getting quite dark at times, or tall towering, billowing brilliant white ones. In between there were large areas of flat diffuse edge grey sheets. But we also had long sunny spells with a calm sea and just a gentle breeze. Then, all of a sudden, the clouds melted completely away to give us the usual amazing monochromatic sunset and a starlit night. It was a balmy 24°C at 10.30pm

Good morning from Roda. It is still cool enough around dawn for me to be reaching for my coverlet! When, I eventually surfaced after the essential restorative cup of tea, and peered out of the windows I saw that we had sky of blue scattered with pretty dappled clouds. These have increased somewhat during the morning to give one or two periods of cloudiness; however, the heat of the sun is now coming into play and they are slowly melting away. We have quite a breeze stirring the leaves and piling the sea into noisy waves hitting the shoreline. Albania has remained fairly clear such that I can even see pockets of clouds in the valleys.
Yesterday stayed a mostly cloud free day with constant sunshine and a breeze off the sea to cool over heated skins. A few threads of clouds gathered to the west just in time to add interest to the usual lovely sunset. Just before sunset it was so clear looking towards our mountains it felt like you count every tree on them. We had a pleasantly warm evening with the temperature at 10.30pm a pleasant 24°C.
I was talking to friends yesterday, and they had been caught out in rain in Corfu and at the airport. That must have been when it went very dark to the south. We didn’t even see a drop!
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 18th. July was 23.8°C, real feel 24°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 25.0°C (real feel 25°C) and the minimum was 19.0°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 24.8°C and the minimum was 19.3°C. It was a clear day with the only cloud over the mainland.

Good morning from Roda. This cool spell is continuing, I needed the coverlet all night! However, it is probably the reason why we have such clear air at the moment and the haze has all but gone. We have a clear blue sky beautifully decorated with strategically placed pretty white clouds. Albania is looking so close across the channel. The sea is an amazing deep blue flecked with white horses, with quite large waves coming ashore. There is a bit of a breeze and it is due to get very windy this afternoon before calming down for the evening. It’s been a while since I put on photo’s from my balconies, here are this morning’s efforts. Apologies for the slight tilt on them.
Yesterday started off cloudy, and for a while it got cloudier, but they all started to disappear in the late morning to give us mostly clear skies. There was a stiff breeze that got steadily stronger during the afternoon, which made it feel a bit cool, especially near the sea. The wind died away during the evening, but it was decidedly cool for the time of year, with the temperature only 22°C at midnight. There were enough clouds to the north and west to give us a lovely sunset, but they mostly cleared away to give a lovely show of stars for my walk home. It was the first time in a long while that the lights on the mainland were so clear. The lights of the cargo vessel anchored in the channel were replaced by those of a small ferry heading towards Igoumenitsa.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 19th. July was 21.9°C, real feel 22°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 24.6°C (real feel 25°C) and the minimum was 19.8°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 24.6°C and the minimum was 19.2°C. there was a lot of high cloud melting away during the day and mostly gone by sunset, fair bit of haze and cool.
The reported UV for Today is 9 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice). Heavy duty sunscreen essential.

Good morning from Roda. It was another cool night; I doubt if any of the visitors used their aircon. The morning brought clear skies, and a gentle breeze, though again, we are expecting strong winds by the end of the afternoon. The sea looked like blue watered silk, with unseen waves crashing on the shoreline. There is just a slight haze with Albania not as clear as yesterday. There was a ferry sailing towards Igoumenitsa, it seems to be a regular sight now around 10 in the morning. I also seem to be seeing another one around 4 in the afternoon, the ferry companies must have upped the frequency of their sailings. At this time of year, they are coming into Corfu direct from Italy then onto Igoumenitsa.
Yesterday was a decidedly breezy day, making it feel a little fresh in the shade. Skouna had to take down some of their parasols before they flew off. The wind brought good sized waves onto Roda beach great fun for kids both big and little, further out in the channel it looked quite rough with the sea heavily speckled with white horses. The wind came to a peak by the late afternoon, before gradually dying down. We had cloudless skies and great air clarity all day, so the evening brought lots of stars and a multitude of lights around the bay. It was a cool 22°C at 11.30pm.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 20th. July was 22.0°C, real feel 22°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 25.0°C (real feel 25°C) and the minimum was 19.4°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 25.5°C and the minimum was 19.5°C. A hazy and calm day with cloud building up only over the mainland, and a warm evening. Good morning from Roda. It is definitely cool for this time of year. The dawn temperature being a lowly 18.3°C! Fortunately, in the sun it still feels nicely hot, in fact I did two hours in the garden from 8-10 and the sweat was dripping off me, not a pleasant sight. I am still trying to sort out the detritus from Steve’s beloved garden. At times it is heart-breaking, at others I could cheerfully strangle him. We had at least a dozen new feta tins he could have used, instead I am finding rusty old things missing their bottoms and lined with bin bags! The same applies to plant pots, more than enough good ones, but did he use them, no, he used two holed pots inside each other! But that was my Steve and I wouldn’t have changed him. Anyway, back to the weather. After the cool start we had clear skies with only one or two tiny efforts over the mainland. Albania is still quite clear with only some haze obscuring the detail. There was no breeze, but as the morning ages it is picking up. The sea is dead calm, but I can just about hear waves coming ashore.
Yesterday was just a lovely day, hot but not too hot in the sun. Mind you I did get a bit burned lounging beside Theo’s pool. In fact, I enjoyed a few swims, as the pool temperature was lovely. It is usually a bit on the chilly side. Only two people at a time are allowed in the Jacuzzi due to the covid restrictions. The forecast strong wind didn’t happen, though the afternoon breeze was a bit stiffer than usual. The sunset was stunning in the cloudless sky. Deep flame orange melted through turquoise into cobalt blue, all reflected in a calm sea. You just have to stand and stare.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 21st. July was 21.8°C, real feel 22°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 24.3°C (real feel 25°C) and the minimum was 19.2°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 26.1°C and the minimum was 20.5°C. °C at 11pm! Good morning from Roda. It was a slightly warmer night and I awoke to blue skies and speckled clouds. The was quite a bit of haze, such that Albania was there but only just. There was a gentle breeze and a rippled sea with the sounds of waves coming ashore. As the morning ages the clouds are getting burnt off giving us a mostly clear sky. It’s going to be another lovely day.
Yesterday was a perfect day for spending it lazing on the beach or by the pool, with something cool close to hand. The sea was like a bath close in but more refreshing the further out you went. The afternoon breeze came and went and gave us a pleasantly warm evening. The sunset was stunning, not only in the direction of the setting orb, but facing west the sea went a glorious shade of pale turquoise contrasting with the pink hued mountains of the mainland. Facing the sun, it was a golden ball setting in a fiery sky setting behind the headland. It was being photographed by almost everyone at the busy little Ammos grill room. We ended up with a star spangled sky and a warm 23°C at 10.30pm.

Good morning from Roda. Such a quiet morning, all that could be heard was the cicadas and the sleepy clucks of the chickens. Yesterday some friends and I visited a house deep in an olive grove near St Spiridon beach. We were deafened by the cicadas. I thought ours were noisy but there it was a wall of sound! Back to today, the haze has returned with Albania just about disappearing behind its veil. The sea is blue and silent and the breeze hasn’t stirred itself yet. It’s going to be hot; I can see another afternoon spent by Theo’s pool.
Yesterday was yet another perfect summer’s day for our visitors, hot and sunny, with just a gentle afternoon breeze coming and going, leading into a warm and balmy evening, via a pretty sunset, perfect for taking advantage of those bars and restaurants with seating under the stars. A perfect recipe for a great holiday. It was still a warm 24°C at 11pm! I meant to post these yesterday of the sunset on Tuesday night, it was so beautiful.
Looking in opposite directions near Ammos.

I am aware that my temperatures are several degrees below those reported round the island, and nearby. I have three thermometers on my balcony facing almost north, an electronic one reading 240C, a standard alcohol one reading 250C, and the sensor that came with the weather station reading 24.60C. I have come to the conclusion I must live in the coldest part of Corfu! In the sun it is so very much higher, but I can only report on the figures provided. At the same time the mean reported shade temperature around the island is 300C. Pleased be assured that it is very hot out here, and judging by the amount of sunburn I am seeing, people are not putting enough sunscreen on. Talking of protection, there does seem to be more of the dreaded mozzies around, we think not enough tourist to go around, so even the locals are getting bitten! So please use plenty of protection.

Good morning from Roda. It was another calm and still start to the day. We had quite a haze, such that Albania was just a little bit more than an outline. The sea was flat calm and mostly silent and the wind was non-existent. It was very warm loading the camper up with the last of the stuff out of the garden for the bins. At last I also emptied the camper of the canned store of food. Steve always insisted on travelling with enough food for twice the length of the journey. It took three rips to get it upstairs!
Yesterday was a lovely hot day with little to disturb it. The breeze raised its head as usual in the afternoon before finding it all too much and retiring. It was humid which made the heat seem so much worse, apparently Corfu town was almost too hot, according to one of our visitors who went on the evening trip. So much warmer than Roda. I must admit it was very pleasant spending the afternoon beside Theo’s pool. We had the usual sunset leading onto a warm humid evening with a small crescent moon amongst the stars. It was 25°C at11.30pm.

Good morning from Roda. It was quite a warm night with the temperature only dropping to 22°C at dawn. We had another morning of clear skies with only a few token clouds loitering over the mainland. Which, itself, is barely apparent, trying very hard to disappear into the haze. There is not much wind stirring the leaves and the waves are lazily rolling onto the shore almost silently. It’s going to be a hot one.
Yesterday was hot and sunny all day, with the usual afternoon breeze coming and going and the sea remained calm all day. It was rather humid which made it seem much warmer and rather sticky. A day for being very lazy. The day slid into night via the usual lovely sunset. To give us a waxing crescent moon, which turned a rather glorious golden colour as it set around 11.30pm. There was quite a scatter of stars to join the lights around the bay, and a goodly amount of village lights from across the channel. It was a balmy 25°C as I went to bed.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 25th July was 25°C, real feel 25°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 26.0°C (real feel 28°C feeling humid) and the minimum was 20.9°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 27.5°C and the minimum was 21.4°C. Good morning from Roda. During the night the breeze increased and cleared away some of the haze, giving us clear skies, and the only clouds to be seen is a layer stuck in the valleys on the mainland. The wind is continuing to strengthen giving us noisy waves hitting the shore line and causing white horses to be formed out in the channel. A ferry, the (Rigel V11) was gliding passed on its way to Corfu, I never get tired of seeing the ferries and the cruise liners (not at the moment) going up and down the channel. It is due to be breezy for most of the day, then calming down for the rest of the week.
Yesterday, again was a lovely summer’s day, with plenty of haze masking the mainland across the calm sea. We had the expected afternoon breeze which brought us a gathering of clouds to the north and west, which gave us a very nice sunset. The evening saw a reduction in the haze so that the mainland village lights could be seen. The waxing crescent moon shone yellow as it set, leaving a sky full of stars. Many people were taking advantage of the warm night to dine late al fresco. It was a warm 23°C at 1.30am, yes I did have a late night catching up with friends newly arrived from UK.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 26th July was 24.3°C, real feel 24°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.1°C (real feel 29°C feeling humid) and the minimum was 22.3°C. °C. The day started with a mix of sunshine and clouds gradually melting away with the ones on the mainland the last to go.

Good afternoon from Roda. I’m sorry my report is a little late but I have been sorting out plants and plant pots to tidy up the side garden. It’s hot work and best done in the morning. Then the computer did an update, so I went for a nap whilst it sorted itself out. There was a cooler fresher feel to the start of the day, and only some haze. We had cloudless skies over us with the only clouds being over the mainland, we had a rippled sea with the sound of waves coming ashore. The breeze started off gentle but was gradually increasing in intensity.
Yesterday stayed lovely all day, a perfect day. The sea started off calm but the afternoon breeze brought white horses for a whole out to sea and waves inshore for fun and games. The breeze was quite strong for most of the day driving those waves, but almost completely died away to give a lovely calm and warm evening. The haze had blown away so we had stars and the waxing gibbous moon shining in the sky. It was a pleasant 23°C in the late evening.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 27th July was 23.4°C, real feel 24°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 25.8°C (real feel 27°C feeling humid) and the minimum was 22.7°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 26.2°C and the minimum 20.5°C, a very hazy and humid day with clear skies.

Good afternoon from Roda. Again, a late report I’m sorry to say. A girls’ get together coffee lasted three hours! By then I was hungry so stopped off in the village for a bite to eat. This morning we had clear cloudless skies, a calm se and a gentle breeze. I could hear waves rolling on to the shore and Albania was hiding in the haze. It felt fresher first thing this morning as I enjoyed my breakfast on the balcony. I am hearing rumours of soaring temperature next week, but the one I use, Wunderground, only has the temperatures in the usual range for the time of year. We shall see what we get, anything over 30°C in the house is unbearable. Out of interest I put a thermometer in the sun on my south balcony and it quickly went up to 45°C, when it had been reading 25°C just before. No wonder it feels baking hot in that sun. 45°C is 1130F old money.
Yesterday was standard summer weather, hot and sunny with the usual gentle morning breeze getting stronger in the afternoon before dying away in the evening. There was the usual sunset and a half moon shining amongst the stars in the evening. I felt that the evening breeze was warm add to the warm balmy feel to the late evening. It was a warm 24°C at 11.30pm.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 28th July was 23.8°C, real feel 24°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.1°C (real feel 29°C feeling humid) and the minimum was 20.2°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 31.3°C and the minimum 21.7°C, a warm slightly less humid day with some clouds building up and a very warm evening.

Good morning from Roda. It was another hot and cloudless start to the day here, although feeling a little fresher as the humidity was down a little. We have a gentle breeze, and calm and inviting sea and an Albania that is almost lost in the mist. Another day for not doing much other than lazing on the beach or by the pool. I certainly plan to spend part of the late afternoon at the pool, my favourite time for swimming.
Yesterday, the summer weather continued un-abated. Hot, sunny and cloudless all day with the breeze coming and going throughout the day to cool the skin. The day slid effortlessly into evening via yet another example of turning the world pink before the sun set in a glorious monochromatic array of flame oranges blending to deep blue. The haze had retreated to give us a beautiful close up of the mainland. We were then left with a clear night, with the half moon and stars competing with the lights around the bay and on the mainland. It was a pleasant 23°C t 10.30pm.
I always feel a bit worried at this time of year as everyone is reporting high temperatures when my three thermometers are in accord with lower ones. I can only report the temperature that I have. I have found that even the slightest amount of sun hitting the far end of the balcony affect the readings, so I try to read them before that. I admit it will be warmer in the village itself because of the heat coming off the buildings themselves, which I don’t have, and I do have cooling air coming straight off the sea most of the time. Very high temperatures of over 40°C have been forecast for Greece in the coming week, but on investigation, they will be in and around Athens. The temperatures for Corfu and the rest of Greece will be just above what is expected for August, in the low to mid- 30’s. Still very hot though, and when you add more than 20°C for being in the sun, it is going to hot hot hot!!
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 29th July was 24.6°C, real feel 25°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 25.1°C (real feel 28°C feeling humid) and the minimum was 21.1°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 27.6°C and the minimum 24.3°C, early clouds melting away, hot and humid all day even into the late evening to give a hot and sticky night.
