Good morning from Roda. Apologies for late posting, my aunt phoned just at the end of writing it and I forgot then to post it, sorry. This settled weather just goes on and on. We had the usual clear cloudless skies this morning with some haze that was making the blue of the sky less vivid and Albania less distinct. There is still a gentle cooling breeze and a calm sea. It is good that we do have even the slightest breeze because it is very humid which makes the heat worse.
The temperature at 10.00am on Friday 3rd. July was 25.9°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.6°C (though it seemed much hotter) and the minimum was 21.8°C. I was at home yesterday afternoon so could monitor the thermometers and they stayed constant at 28°C until the late afternoon sun hit them when they went up to 33°C. I can only assume that I am in a little area which is cooler than the village, and that is why I record much lower temperatures than elsewhere. Regardless of what they read it is very hot out there in the sun. The day stayed lovely with constant sunshine, calm seas and a breeze near the sea. The evening started with the sky washed in colour from the dying sun, leaving us with an almost full moon and some stars. It was still 26°C at 11.30pm! This day last year the maximum temperature was 27.2°C and the minimum was 21.4°C. A sunny and warm day.
The reported UV for Today is 10 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice). Heavy duty sunscreen essential.

Good morning from Roda. I awoke to the start of another hot and humid day, although at 7.30am it feels fresh and cool with the temperature around 22°C. However, by 10am it was already 26°C! The clear blue skies of the last couple of days have been added to by a speckling of pretty white streaks with some very high thin ones. The general haze continues with Albania barely making an appearance. There is just about a breeze, and the sea looks very calm and inviting. An invitation I will accept later on this afternoon.
Yesterday was very hot and humid with the humidity well into the uncomfortable range. A cooling drink and a dip into the sea was the order of the day. Not for me though, I am sorting through all the accumulated stuff that my lovely Steve kept,’ just in case’. I have a van full going to the bins today and another one going to the recycling on Monday, just to keep Dave busy! We had uninterrupted blue skies, an almost cooling breeze and a calm sea. The lovely sunset brought some relief in temperatures, but not relief from the dreaded mozzies. Once the bulk of them had gone it was very pleasant sipping a small wine with Dave and a small group of friends to celebrate his birthday. There was an almost full moon decorating the sky with a few chosen bright stars. Walking home past the Coral I noticed quite a large wildfire high up on one of the Albanian peaks. The late evening temperature was hovering around the 26°C mark still.
The temperature at 10.00am on Saturday 4th. July was 25.5°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 28.3°C (real feel 32°C) and the minimum was 22.1°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 27.0°C and the minimum was 22.9°C. A very warm hazy day with a thunderstorm over Sarande.

The joy of sleeping with the windows open, protected by mozzie nets, is that you wake up to the sound of waves. It becomes part of your life and you miss it when absent. There are very few days when the sea is so calm that I cannot here it at home. The day started with only some clouds around and quite a mist which was making Albania very hard to spot. The strong winds and high seas of yesterday evening had eased somewhat. As the morning has progressed the amount of cloud has significantly increased and now the sun has been covered. Thunderstorms are forecast for later on, in fact as I write this thunder is rumbling overhead and the clouds have turned quite dark. I’ve just to go and take down the parasols and close the doors on Steve’s cupboard on the balcony. I had to go into it to find his machete, so I had to get rid of the resident wasp nest. They weren’t too happy and I got stung, stupidly I only then put my thick gloves on the spray the remaining insects.
Yesterday daytime was the usual for this time of year, blue skies, a calm sea and a gentle breeze, but quite hazy. The high humidity remains which makes it feel very uncomfortable for most people. The early evening saw heavy clouds and murk gathering over our mountain tops, though the sky was still clear elsewhere with white fluffy clouds. The wind got very strong, almost sending us indoors at the Kalamaki grill room. But those strong winds chased those dark brooding clouds away and the clear skies re-appeared. A walk down to the seafront to walk the meal off and a drink at Pirates was threatened to be spoilt by the mozzies. I think they are missing the fresh flesh of the tourists and are attacking the locals. I have had more bites in the last few days than in the last five years!! The strong winds eventually blew even the mozzies away and it was a pleasantly mild evening for the walk home under a full moon. The wild fires on the mainland were out thankfully.
The temperature at 10.00am on Sunday 5th. July was 24.5°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 28.0°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum was 22.3°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 28.7°C and the minimum was 21.9°C. A windy day with increasing waves reduced the humidity. A glorious sunset was watched by so many people filling all the seafront benches.

Good morning from Roda. What a difference today from the dark skies and storms of yesterday. The morning brought us pastel blue skies with streaky, feather edged clouds to decorate it. The wind had died down to be still quite a breeze, with the sea looking calm but we have noisy waves coming ashore. The tanker that was sheltering in the channel is still there turning on its anchor. There is a bit of a phenomenon going on with where the mainland meets the sea, we have quite a wide white line that looks like it could be cliffs or breaking water, but know it is neither.
Yesterday saw the late morning getting increasingly dark as storm clouds gathered over head, and the wind whipped up to gale force. We had quite a downpour around mid-day, with thunder and lightning, such that I rang friends to cancel our breakfast at Pirates. They live in Kavalouri and said what rain!! Gayle from Melinda said they had some but not much, I had a downpour at Nino’s and a friend had huge hail stones at Almyros. The Corfu micro-climates at work. No wonder it is difficult to get an accurate forecast. Any, they picked me up and we did enjoy a late breakfast at Pirates, well a coffee for me, and then wandered along to Skouna for a cold drink. The skies were getting dark again and we had more wind and rain and thunder from late afternoon into the evening. Later on the rain stopped and we got quite a sunset in a very narrow band just above the horizon, spectacular in its own way. Just before going to bed I looked out to see a tanker decked out in all its lights riding at anchor in the bay. The clouds had parted enough to give space for the full moon to make its presence felt. A cooler fresher feel to the whole day , but the end of evening temperature was still 25°C.
The temperature at 10.00am on Monday 6th. July was 25.2°C, real feel 25. °C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.3°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum was 22.7°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 28.7°C and the minimum was 23.1°C. A slight breeze taking the edge off the heat of the day.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was quite a breezy start to the day with a calm looking sea but I could hear waves coming ashore. Albania was almost lost in haze across the channel. The mornings are still fresh with the temperature around 22°C, but it doesn’t stay there long and the heat soon gets turned up.
Yesterday turned out to be quite decent after the storms of the previous day and bad weather predicted. The early morning accumulation of cloud soon went to give us a lovely sunny day, with the haze clearing to reveal lovely views of Albania across the channel. I managed to miss the sunset, but it may well have been hidden by the clouds that gave us a sprinkling of rain mid-evening. To call it a shower would be excessive, it was a blink and you miss it one. The winds and seas continued to calm throughout the day. The high humidity is making it feel hot and sticky for most of the day until the evening brings relief with lower temperatures and the on shore breeze.
The temperature at 10.00am on Tuesday 7th. July was 25.0°C, real feel 25°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 28.9°C (real feel 32°C) and the minimum was 20.9°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 27.2°C and the minimum was 22.9°C. A calm and sunny day with hardly a ripple on the sea close in but white horses out in the channel. Good afternoon from Roda. I had a trip into town last night so missed the 10am reading. We have clear skies and a gentle breeze stirring the leaves, and the sea is only slightly ruffled. There is quite a bit of haze such that Albania isn’t that clear across the channel, and there is a slightly cooler feel to the day. There isn’t much to write about yesterday, it was a lovely sunny day over Corfu with a calm looking sea and a gentle breeze. There were clouds starting form over the mainland during the afternoon. By evening there was a deep layer of grey ones with high billowing stark white clouds rising above that layer. It was a very warm and sticky night. It did feel much hotter in town than in Roda. The end of evening temperature in Roda was 25°C.
The temperature at 1pm on Wednesday 8th. July was 23.7°C, real feel 24°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.3°C (real feel 32°C) and the minimum was 20.9°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 27.5°C and the minimum was 22.0°C. A calm and sunny day with a gentle breeze, strange rollers out in the channel settled to give a millpond by the evening.

Good morning from Roda. It was a decidedly cooler night, I even had to pull up the cotton bedspread. The morning brought blue skies with one or two streaks of clouds. There was almost no breeze, the sea looked flat calm, but there were noisy waves hitting the stone beach. At the moment the heat is failing to build up, but I expect it will catch up later. There is a considerable haze with Albania reduced to a mere outline.
Yesterday was a lovely summer’s day, just the right amount of heat. The haze seemed to persist all day never really lifting all that much. There was the usual afternoon breeze, and we saw bigger waves coming ashore. Everything started to calm down as the evening approached. There was a glorious sunset with the western sky a flame coloured sky. The effect was enhanced by the lights on the mainland starting to appear which added to the bright lights of the tanker still anchored in the channel. It was a cooler evening with the temperature at 10.30pm only 24°C.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 9th. July was 22.7°C, real feel 23°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.0°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum was 22.4°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 29.3°C and the minimum was 22.7°C. A day of sunshine with increasing clouds, rumblings of thunder in the early evening and the clouds eventually dissolving.

Good morning from Roda. It was a slightly warmer night, but still needed the coverlet at dawn! Usually at this time of year we would have the ceiling fan and the desk fan going all night! The was a definite breeze when I stepped out onto the balcony, with a slightly ruffled sea and waves hitting the shore. Albania has been reduced to a very feint outline across the channel. Despite this the sky is blue and cloudless, the sea an amazing shade and the cicadas are chirping away as usual. Just another day in paradise.
Yesterday was a lovely summer’s day, slightly on the cool side for this time of year, but hot enough anyway. After the tiny clouds from the morning evaporated the sky remained cloudless for the rest of the day. So, we had our usual amazing monochromatic sunset leading onto a perfectly warm evening for sitting out with friends over a glass of beer or wine. The temperature at 11pm was 24°C.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 10th. July was 24.1°C, real feel 25°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 26.0°C (real feel 27°C) and the minimum was 19.6°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 30.5°C and the minimum was 23.0°C. A day of increasingly squally hot winds getting very windy as the day wore on, dark clouds around mid-day and a few spots of rain, with a spectacular lightning show behind the clouds in the evening.
The reported UV for Today is 9 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice). Heavy duty sunscreen essential.

Good morning from Roda. We have pale blue skies with a few scattered clouds and a low fringe of them over the mainland. The sea is deep blue and the waves can barely be heard. There is a bit of a breeze to keep the edge off the rising temperatures, though I thought it is still a bit cool at night. The tanker is still out in the channel swinging on its anchor.
Yesterday was a lovely day, staying nicely hot all day. The sky, for the most part, stayed a clear blue all day except for clouds that built up over where the mainland should have been. They cleared away as the wind built up during the afternoon. This wind cleared some of the haze away over our mountains aided and abetted by a drop in humidity, but failed miserably on the mainland. It was a warm night with the late evening temperature still around the 25°C.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 11th. July was 24.4°C, real feel 25°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 29.0°C (real feel 33°C) and the minimum was 21.1°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 26°C and the minimum was 20.1°C. Clear skies with a freshening wind leading to white horses and big waves all afternoon. The air cleared and Albania re-appeared. Cold night preceded by an amazing sunset.

Good morning from Roda. It is a very warm and humid start to the day with significant haze making the sky pale and Albania barely registering. There is barely any breeze and the sea is calm. It was hot sweaty work in the garden sorting out Steve’s plant pots etc. Salvatore from Pixida stopped for a chat and sent me indoors!
Yesterday was mostly a calm and sunny day with no clouds to disturb the status quo, after the few early morning ones had been sent packing. The afternoon breeze became quite stiff with the sail over the seating at Eveline in front of our apartment threatening to take off. However, by the time I set off for dinner at Niko’s it was all calm again. By- the-way it was delicious. The very late evening walk back from Roda was lovely with flat calm lazy sea, an inky sky bespeckled with stars. It was a pleasant 24°C at midnight.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 12th. July was 24.3°C, real feel 25°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 29.5°C (real feel 36°C) and the minimum was 20.5°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 25.1°C and the minimum was 19.9°C. A pleasant and cooler day with scattered clouds for most of it. The sea was calming after the waves of the previous day.

Comet Neowise and Corfu, Greece Comet C/2020 F3 Neowise above the city of Corfu.....this was at 10 minutes past midnight yeaterday morning. As the skies are cloudless and wonderfully starlit it was clearly visible to the eye and a good camera could get a photo. Sadly I wasn't aware of its passing or I would have watched it. The photo was taken by John Wray and posted on FB. He has other great photos of the comet on his FB site for those interested.

Good afternoon from Roda. I had a problem with my phone line and couldn’t get on the internet, hence the late report. A slightly warmer start to the day than yesterday, and still feeling humid. There are a few streaky clouds across the sky but too insignificant to interfere with the sun, so the day will be hot and sunny. We still have the quite dense haze which is all but obscuring our view of Albania. There is quite a breeze which is strengthening as the morning progresses, building up the waves across the channel. The sea was quite calm first thing with just a few noisy waves coming ashore, but it is going to get rougher as this predicted wind increases through the day.
Yesterday was a typical hot and humid summer’s day here. The quiet start of no wind and a calm sea changed as the breeze picked up in the afternoon, which brought some relief from the heat. The waves increased with the wind giving pleasure to the kids of all ages on the beach. The wind did fade in the evening, but not the waves, it also cleared the clouds from the sky. This left us with a standard cloudless sunset leading into a calm and balmy night. It was still 25°C at 1030pm.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 13th. July was 25.0°C, real feel 26°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 28.8°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum was 20.8°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 24.6°C and the minimum was 19.8°C. A calm start to the day followed by one of our wonderful thunder and lightning storms.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was a very cool and breezy start to the day. There were considerable amounts of clouds around and a very heavy dew. Mind you Dave and I were up clearing wood from my garden at around 8am. It was quite breezy, and that has been strengthening up to now, and the temperature has been rising rapidly to 28°C by mid-day. Albania across the noisy see was barely discernible.
Yesterday was a lovely day, if a bit breezy at times. That breeze and the clouds did increase during the afternoon, giving us a few short cloudy spells and some big waves comes ashore. In fact, in the early evening it was a bit cool sitting in the shade, and my desire for a cooling swim swiftly faded. There were enough clouds around to give a very pretty sunset. It was a cool evening with the late evening temperature a lowly 23°C.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 14th. July was 22.3°C, real feel 22°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 26.8°C (real feel 28°C) and the minimum was 23.1°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 24.4°C and the minimum was 21.3°C. Good afternoon from Roda. It was a cool night, I needed more than a sheet at dawn! I awoke to clear skies, a gentle wind, a flat calm sea and Albania missing across the channel. The only indication of the mainland was a bank of clouds hugging the tops of the un-seen peaks. The morning saw more clouds around, but not getting as hot as yesterday.
Yesterday, was such a hot day. After the cool start with very heavy dew, somebody turned the temperature up to high and left it there. Even the wind was hot! The sea and the wind had both been beaten into submission and gave up any attempt and being energetic. We had the usual sunset followed by a rapidly cooling night, so the temperature became lovely for a meal under the stars. The haze that had loitered all day started to clear, so the village lights from across the channel started to appear and join all the ones round the bay. It had cooled to a fresh 22°C by the end of the evening.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 15th. July was 22.5°C, real feel 23°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 30.0°C (real feel 31°C) and the minimum was 19.7°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 25.8°C and the minimum was 18.5°C. A mostly cloudy day, but they cleared by the evening.
