Good morning from Sfakera. It is mainly cloudy with a few gaps, just a bit clearer to the North. The clouds are high and thin, with some layers but seem to be reducing. It was 20.2c at 8am and there is a gentle breeze.
Yesterday morning was mainly sunny with some shade as clouds built in the north and north west. Initially high and fluffy they changed to flat and grey and a light wind got them moving our way. After midday the wind picked up and the clouds started to roll in; the sea became choppy with white tops. There were fast moving white low clouds and layers more grey above them moving slower. By 3pm Albania was nearly hidden under grey cloud, it looked as if it could be raining over their coastline. These clouds came our way and we had no sun for a long period but they passed after 4pm giving us some short sunny intervals. It was brighter sun after 6pm for an hour, then very short intervals for 45 minutes as another bank of high cloud passed. From 7:45pm it was almost uninterrupted sun til it set. The wind which had been gusting up to F6 eased off and it was almost still by 8pm. There was a bright orange sunset. Again we had a partially starlit night.
The maximum was 27.1c and the minimum was 19.9c.

Yesterday elsewhere in Greece the weather was awful. In the central north and middle of Greece and Island of Evia there was torrential rains, hailstones and local floods. STreams became overflowing torrents; roads became torrents and many basement car parks were flooded in muddy water ruining cars and other basement property. Some properties were damaged as well. This storm is due to continue today as well.

Good morning from a bright and sunny Sfakera. There is a gentle breeze and apart from over Albania it is cloudless. It was 20.5c at 7:30am; the birds are singing and the swallows flitting about catching mosquitoes.
Yesterday morning the cloud thinned slowly with bigger clouds over our peaks and Albania but the sun shone most of the time. Light winds came and stayed all day but never really got above F2-3 in gusts. It stayed that way until late afternoon when the cloud from the NW thickened a bit and we had shade from around 5:45 for half an hour or so. Once that cloud had moved it became much less cloudy and sunny for the rest of the evening and the wind eased as well to just a breeze. There was a very bright light yellow sunset. Once gone a pale blue sky slowly darkening with an orange horizon and the odd grey cloud to the NW, high in the western sky was the crescent moon visible long before any stars came into view. Once dark they began to appear and we had a full starlit night.
Maximum was 27.4c minimum was 19.5c.

Good morning from a sunny Sfakera. It is rather hazy but cloudless and the air is still. It was a mild 21c at 7am and it look well set to be a lovely day.
Yesterday early clouds built high and thin and more so to the SW and the breeze became a light wind but it was a full sunny morning. Big fluffy clouds over Albania rose until they seemed to level off and then turn light grey and head slowly in our direction. In the afternoon the wind picked up but never really got above a F2 and it was sunny. The clouds got to us after 5:30 and we had a bit of shade and hazy sun for about 3/4 of an hour before the sun returned. The worst of the high grey clouds passed to the East of us heading south. It cleared as the evening went on and we had a very bright light yellow sunset. There was little colour to the horizon after it set. The crescent moon was again high in the sky long before the stars came into view. It was a very still and mild night.
Maximum was 29.4c and minimum was 20.0c.

Thank you Emily. Just to let you know Jan will be resuming the weather reports from Monday giving her fuller descriptions and details of the UVC etc.
Good morning from Sfakera; today we wake after a very mild night to a cloudless sunny start, hardly a movement in the air. The sea looks blue and flat. It was 21.6C at 8am.
Yesterday morning fluffy white built over Pantocrator side of our peaks withh just odd cloud alog rest of the range. Bigger fluffy clouds built up over Albania. The sun shone brightly and a very light wind came along. Early afternoon I went to the beach by Alexandros (Golden Sands) and it was wonderful; the sea is warm and ideal for swimming; just little ripples rolling onto the beach. Plenty sun lotion was required as the sun was bouncing off the sea and there was a light wind too and it was hot. The clouds over Albania got bigger, seemed to level off and then slowly move our way but never got anywhere near us. The sun continued all day and evening finally setting as a bright light yellow ball around 9.10pm. Afterwards there was a lovely orangey horizon with still shades of blue above. The air was now still and the growing moon was high in the sky in an area where blue was turning to night. ALso all the clouds that were over Albania and our peaks had vanished; slipped away without even being noticed. A fully starlit night follwed that was very mild indeed.
Maximum was 31.5c, minimum was 20.8c.

Good morning from Sfakera; again it is very mild, still, cloudless everywhere and the sun is rising. It was 22.5c at 7:30am.
Yesterday morning we had a light wind and then clouds formed; big and fluffy again over Albania and some over our peaks as well. It was however full on sun. In the afternoon it was hot if in the direct sun and it started to get hazy. The clouds over Albania levelled off and started to move slowly our way. By early evening the wind dropped to a hint of breeze, the clouds over North Albania and our peaks had gone but there was a massive bank of cloud over southern Albania frpm opposite St Spiriodon going down towards the east, the underside was rather grey and stormy looking. There was a bright light yellow sunset again followed by an orange horizon with the moon high in the still blue part of the sky; meanwhile over Albania opposite Kassioppi there was lightening.........we could hear no thunder but the lightning went on well into the night. It did however remain dry here and we had a starlit night in all directions except to the east.
Maximum was 31.3c (real feel 33c) and minimum was 21.1c

Good morning from Sfakera for my last report for a while as Jan will be back with you from tomorrow. It is a lovely cloudless but hazy and still start to the day with the sun up. It was 23.1c at 7:15am. The sea is flat, the cicadas are chirping, birds singing, church bells ringing and all is set for another hot day. In fact the forecast is looking very good for this week, with temperatures up to 35c locally.
Yesterday morning the amount of haze slowly increased; big fluffy clouds again built over Albania with some also over our peaks. The sun was out and it was hot in the direct sunlight. In the afternoon the haze thickened, the clouds over Albania levelled and spread but as evening came so they disappeared. The haze and now a sea mist meant Albania was only just visible by 6pm though it gradually became a bit clearer as sunset approached. It was again a bright yellow sunset followed by a coloured horizon; this time however it was more indigo and lilac than orange and the sky above less blue. We again had the moon up high and a full starlit night.
Maximum was 31.1c and minimum was 22.1c.

Good morning from Roda. A massive thank you to Dave for standing in for me whilst Steve was in hospital, and since his death. There is a massive hole in my life, but we talked about it, and he didn’t want me to stop doing the forum on pain of him coming back to haunt me. I can only be happy that he had a lovely funeral with a good turn out of his friends and is buried in a peaceful part of the local cemetery next to an old olive grove.
The morning has brought us a calm and hot day with barely any wind and a calm sea. The lack of wind means that there is a heavy mist towards Albania making it almost disappear from the horizon. I am thankful that it is cooler down here on the coast, but I have had to move my morning cuppa onto the north balcony, because the south balcony, even with parasols is too warm.
Yesterday stayed lovely all day with just a pleasant breeze coming off the sea to cool things down a bit. The day drifted calmly on with hot sunshine and a very calm and nicely warm sea to tempt a cooling swim. The sunset was a standard monochrome of oranges and deep blues leading into a warm evening.
The temperature at 10.00am on Monday 29th. June was 25.0°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 26.1°C and the minimum was 21.6°C. The UV is very high at 9, so high factor sun screen is essential. This date last year the maximum temperature was 29.6°C and the minimum was 22.8°C. A sunny day getting cloudier during the afternoon but gone by end of the evening. The reported UV for Today is 9 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice).

Good morning from Roda. It seems that the summer weather has finally arrived. We have settled hot cloudless sunny day with gentle breezes and calm seas. This morning was no exception with cloudless skies and a morning haze towards Albania. A north-bound ferry has outlined against this haze as she glided up the channel.
Yesterday was such a lovely day hot and sunny with just enough of a cooling breeze off the sea to temper the heat. Though I sought shade for most of the day. There was the ubiquitous monochrome sunset leading onto a warm evening with a balmy wind.
My temperatures always seem lower that others, I do have three thermometers in the shade on my north balcony just to convince myself that my reported one is accurate. I do have problems in the afternoon as the sun, at this time of year, starts to creep onto the far edge of it, but I will try and get the reading before the sun hits the sensor. I think we are even a shade cooler than in the village, maybe because we have no buildings very close.
The temperature at 10.00am on Tuesday 30th. June was 24.2°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 28.2°C and the minimum was 21.3°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 28.8°C and the minimum was 22.7°C. A sunny day with some clouds building to the south and a vivid pink sunset. The reported UV for Today is 10 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice). Heavy duty sunscreen essential.

Good morning from Roda. Kalo mena for July, hoping all those that have booked to arrive here this month that we will see them round and about in Roda. The settled weather continues with clear blue skies, the usual summer haze with Albania threatening to disappear from the horizon. There was a distinct brown layer of haze above the sea level, which I remember Rick Stein commenting on during one of his Mediterranean shows as being a layer of air pollution. The sea is calm but there is enough of a breeze to set the leaves of the huge eucalyptus trees near us fluttering. It is such a pretty sight, almost like they are shivering.
Yesterday was just another hot and settled day, with just the usual cooling evening breeze to relieve the heat. We are starting to see the first signs of people getting caught out by the strength of the sun as it has come upon us relatively quickly, and with that high UV it will be so easy to burn. Without any clouds we got the usual lovely, but monochromatic sunset and a balmy evening with a half moon reigning in the sky. The moon was up before the sun went to bed and when I glanced up there was a plane flying beneath the moon shining silver with the sun’s rays catching it. The temperature at 10.30pm was 26°C.
The temperature at 10.00am on Wednesday 1st. July was 25.0°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 30.8°C and the minimum was 19.9°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 26.8°C and the minimum was 21.0°C. These are Steve’s words from last year ‘cockerels and cicadas, clear skies, proof this year’s weather is odd ask the butterflies! Hazy orange blanket over Italy’ he had a degree of colour blindness and we always argued over the colour of things.

And so summer progresses. We have clear blue cloudless skies, a gentle wind and a flat calm sea. Albania is in danger of being lost across the channel in the haze. And the heat is racking up nicely. Today I heard my first airplane’s air brakes as it flew over-head. We had about a dozen flights yesterday from mainland Europe.
Yesterday was a beautiful summer’s day with only a gentle breeze that got a bit stronger as usual in the afternoon before dying away completely. Yesterday was a day when I seemed to be slow in doing everything, so it was quite late when I headed into the village for an early evening swim. I got taking to Jon at the Boathouse who was painting the door frames and Alex (Crusoe’s) who was keeping him company, so it was even later when I continued my walk. Then a chat with Dimetris (Skouna) and his dad who where levelling the sand outside there bar further delayed me. So, it was almost sunset as I slipped into the millpond of a sea for my swim. It was the first time I had ever swam off Roda beach as the sun was setting and it was a magical experience. There were just enough small clouds that had formed to add that extra dimension to the sunset to make it special, all added to by the waxing moon. I wrapped a towel round me and set off for home as the sun continued its glorious progress to the horizon. The effect was spoilt by the amount of mozzies around but I did manage to get home unscathed. It was a very warm evening with the reading at 11pm 26°C.
The temperature at 10.00am on Thursday 2nd. July was 25.3°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.3°C (though it seemed much hotter) and the minimum was 20.5°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 26.9°C and the minimum was 21.2°C. These are Steve’s words “Breezes ruffling surface of sea slightly choppy but swimable summer frocks in abundance”
