Today I have it on good authority Roda has been hit my a very heavy thunderstorm. Lightening. Water along beach road is ankle deep and everyone is hiding inside. There are also some powercuts which maybe why Jan not posted as yet. Feel for those arriving on holiday today. It seems it may also be wet tomorrow but by the end of the week there will be a heatwave with temperatures approaching 40c in some parts of Greece.

Good morning from Roda. The weather report is late today due to the weather! The readings are late because I had an appointment in Acharavi. We awoke to heavy grey skies and a strong wind. I had been woken up by the rain during the night but the predicted thunderstorm hadn't materalised. The thunder started soon after and the lightening , so off went the router and the computers. The downpours had begun! The day actually got colder with the rain from the overnight low of 22°C to 20°C. The camper was reading 4°C at one time and then 13°C, it was chilly in the rain! Roads and pavements were awash and stilts were required to reach the camper in the first place! The clouds were so low done the mountains this morning at times, seemingly just above the roof tops in Acharavi. It is clearing as I type and we have blue patches, the wind has dropped the rain has stopped and Steve has been and emptied all the plant pot saucers
Yesterday wasn't at all bad, not as cloudy as we thought it would be. We did have long cloudy spells but also decent spells of sunshine. But it was very warm, being the warmest day of the year so far (28°C). There were one or two drops of rain late afternoon, but they fizzled out to give the usual warm calm evening. The sunset was poor considering the clouds that were around.
The readings at 1pm on Monday 13th.June 2016 are:- Temperature 22.6°C and humidity 79%. The dew point (how humid it feels) is a comfortable 18°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 27.9°C and the minimum was 18.3°C . The maximum humidity was 78% and the minimum 58%
13th. June 2015:- Maximum temperature 27.1°C, Minimum 20.4°C, Maximum UV 9.
The reported UV for today is 5 ( Range 1- 11+). It is hot in the sun, take care and apply that sunscreen and seek shade around noon. UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice).

I think Corfu’s weather has a sense of humour ... we do know that many visitors are disillusioned by even a few spots of rain, even though they enjoy the lushness of one of Greece’s greenest islands. By next weekend, I predict that many will be suffering for a different reason as the forecast I use is predicting temperatures of 390C!! Steve

We had the most amazing amount of rainfall this morning, and Maria at Skouna captured Dimitris needing duck boards to get to and from the cafe. Four hours later you could almost say 'What storm?' We can get great downpours, but they soon drain away and the sun comes out. So today wasn't entirely a wash out.

Good morning from Roda. What a night, or should I say early morning! We were woken to massive rolls of thunder and bright flashes of lightening. The wind howled and the rain battered our north facing windows. It felt like the storm was immediately overhead. When we did stir this morning, we awoke to a watery world, looking a bit washed out, feeling a bit cooler. To the north we have thin high cloud, not great visibility and a calm sea with a lovely cruise liner gliding eastward. To the south we have lots of thick dark looking clouds as if to say the storm is not over yet. We do have weak sunshine and negligible winds, so it isn't all bad.
Yesterday after the storm we had some sunny interludes and here the surface water soon dried up. In the gardens and grassy areas surface water only slowly drained away. From what I have seen of reports from around the island we fared not too badly. By mid-afternoon it was business as usual though not too many takers on the beach. We had a nice pleasant warm evening (25°C at 9pm), and the beach side restaurants and bars were filling up. There was a so-so sunset to end the day.
The readings at 10am on Tuesday 14th.June 2016 are:- Temperature 21.6°C and humidity 78%. The dew point (how humid it feels) is a comfortable 18°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 25.2°C and the minimum was 20.1°C ( this was during the storm), the overnight low was 22.2°C . The maximum humidity was 79% and the minimum 63%
14th. June 2015:- Maximum temperature 29.6°C, Minimum 19.0°C, Maximum UV 8.
The reported UV for today is 8 ( Range 1- 11+). It is hot in the sun, take care and apply that sunscreen and seek shade around noon. UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice).

Good morning from Roda. We have a lovely day in prospect. There are blue skies and some white fluffy clouds dotted around. Albania is just an outline topped with a bank of clouds and our mountains are hazy, though the visibility generally is good. It is warm with a gentle breeze, though I can hear some wave action on the shore. There is a scare report circulating on the internet about extreme high temperatures 44/ 45°C expected in Greece shortly. This report says they are expected on the mainland and the south east of Crete. Corfu is not near these areas and all the forecasts I have checked predict Corfu temperatures to be in the low 30's with clear sunny days. NB see note below.
Yesterday we had that thunder, heavy rain and hail storm in the small hours. Once that was out of the way we had a lovely day, plenty of sunshine with only some clouds hiding the sun briefly. Some of our friend reported feeling cool especially on the beach, but the maximum temperature was nearly 24°C! The lovely day eased, via a nice sunset, into a warm starlit night with only a hint of a breeze. OK it was getting a bit chilly towards midnight when the temperature did fall to 20°C.
The readings at 10am on Wednesday 15th.June 2016 are:- Temperature 23.4°C and humidity 74%. The dew point (how humid it feels) is a comfortable 18°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 23.7°C and the minimum was 17.2°C The maximum humidity was 81% and the minimum 59%
15th. June 2015:- Maximum temperature 27.4°C, Minimum 19.1°C, Maximum UV 8.
The maximum recorded temperature ever in Corfu was 42.8°C in 2007.

Good morning from Roda. We awoke to a cloudy start with the sky covered by thin high clouds. It was still bright though, very still with little wind and warm for the time of day. As the heat starts building up the clouds are rapidly dispersing. The visibility is good with Albania clear across the calm sea. All the signs are that we are in for a very hot day.
Yesterday was a good day, we had almost constant hot sunshine with only the occasional cloud getting in the way. Though at one point there was a very threatening cloud behind the mountains towards Pantocrator. However it thought better of it and melted into white pretty things. I was wrong about the sea, it was beautiful and calm until the wind changed and we got a slight ruffling of the surface. The clouds had completely dispersed by 9pm to give us a lovely sunset and a warm evening.
The readings at 10am on Thursday 16th.June 2016 are:- Temperature 24.8°C and humidity 67%. The dew point (how humid it feels) is a comfortable 18°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 26.6°C and the minimum was 17.6°C The maximum humidity was 78% and the minimum 54%
16th. June 2015:- Maximum temperature 28.4°C, Minimum 20.4°C, Maximum UV 8.
The reported UV for today is 7 ( Range 1- 11+). It is hot in the sun, take care and apply that sunscreen and seek shade around noon.

Good morning from Roda. It was a warm night with the minimum only getting down to 20°C. We have lots of thin high cloud masking the sun, but I am sure they will dissipate later on. There is no wind and the visibility is good. Despite the real feel being 28°C and the dew point a comfortable 18°C, Steve is reporting that any exertion is hot, sweaty and exhausting (gentle gardening at 9.30am).
Yesterday was a bit mixed. The high clouds in the morning did break up to give lovely sunshine, but then mid afternoon they gathered in force to give a cool 30 minutes or so, then the sun won out and we were back to lovely weather. The clouds completely disappeared by early evening and we had a warm calm evening with a nice sunset. But the temperature is seriously racking up now and we are supposed to be heading for a hot spell with temperature in the low thirties.
The readings at 10am on Friday 17th.June 2016 are:- Temperature 27.0°C (real feel 28°C) and humidity 62%. The dew point (how humid it feels) is 18°C (humid according to Steve).
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 29.0°C and the minimum was 17.5°C The maximum humidity was 73% and the minimum 48%
17th.

We have a very warm start to the day. There are blue skies, some thin high cloud. good visibility and very little wind. It is going to be a scorcher. The sea is blue and calm and all is well in the world (well in Roda anyway)
Yesterday was a hot day. The sky stayed blue and cloud fee until mid- afternoon when they started building up slowly. The wind was almost non-existent, though we had a strange wind during the night as my washing was well tangled up with the line this morning! Despite the clouds the sunset was a non-event. The evening was very warm it was still 27°C at 11pm.
The readings at 10am on Saturday 18th.June 2016 are:- Temperature 26.9°C (real feel 28°C) and humidity 61%. The dew point (how humid it feels) is 18°C humid according to Steve).
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 29.6°C and the minimum was 20.5°C The maximum humidity was 69% and the minimum 53%
18th. June 2015:- Maximum temperature 23.9°C, Minimum 21.1°C, Maximum UV 8.
The reported UV for today is ( Range 1- 11+). It is hot in the sun, take care and apply that sunscreen and seek shade around noon.

Kalimera from Roda – your weathergirl has gone back to check out the weather in Scotland & Wales as part of her training. In the meantime, it’s just me!
This morning has brought us grey skies with cloud in the mountains at Lafki and all the way up to Pantokrator. Albania is there somewhere, but it may yet choose to disappear. There is the lightest of winds and we’ve had a few spots of rain, but they’ve now evaporated and it’s pleasantly warm. I’m not sure that today’s weather can decide what to do yet.
Yesterday was a complete contrast and it was hot and cloudless most of the day. The high, thin cloud of the early morning just gave up the fight, although there was some haziness in the evening and it was still 220C at midnight. The readings at 10am on Sunday 19th. June 2016 are:-
Temperature 24.1°C and humidity 73%. The dew point (how humid it feels) is edging upwards at 19°C. Yesterday's maximum temperature was 28.1°C and the minimum was 20.6°C
The maximum humidity was 66% and the minimum 54% - so not a huge difference throughout the day. 19th. June 2015:- Maximum temperature 24.2°C, Minimum 19.4°C, Maximum UV 8.
The reported UV for today is down to 5 ( Range 1- 11+), but don’t forget that cloud cover can raise the risk of burning.
UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice). The maximum recorded temperature ever in Corfu was 42.8°C in 2007.

Good morning again from Roda, where yesterday’s clouds have all but disappeared and it’s bright, sunny and hot. It was quite breezy earlier and I get the feeling that may return but, for now, things are still a bit hazy – something that should clear quickly once the day wakes up.
Yesterday was a strange one – warm throughout, but cloudy too. It was very grey in places, especially with thicker cloud drifting from the Diapontian Islands and along the Albanian coastline. There were several times when the ground was spotted by raindrops, but blink and they had gone! By the evening there were a couple of sudden squalls; stronger winds whipping the trees into a frenzy – and then they were gone. There was a noticeable swell rolling in from the sea, so something was clearly changing.
The readings at 10am on Monday 20th. June 2016 are:-
Temperature 25.3°C and humidity 67%. The dew point (how humid it feels) is 20°C – approaching the point where we start to feel it. Yesterday's maximum temperature was 28.1°C and the minimum was 20.6°C
The maximum humidity was 73% and the minimum 68% 16th. June 2015:- Maximum temperature 26°C, Minimum 18.6°C, Maximum UV 8.
The maximum recorded temperature ever in Corfu was 42.8°C in 2007.
