The idea was that you could stand by the traffic lights on the main road and see the sea by the Afrodite Hotel. Well, if anyone doubted that it would happen, then work began in earnest today. Clearly there will be a lot of new & exciting frontages by the time the first 'plane touches down.

Wow! Can't wait to see it when it's finished. Pete, you'll have an even better excuse.....You're that used to the old "stagger" in the road, that it'll throw your whole body off & it'll take you even longer to walk it!

Perhaps the plan is that you should be able to see the sea from the optician's window by the crossroads!

It tells you up above the pics, what's going on, Luke.
They're straightening the beach road out!

My sons and me were discussing the changes and we are concerned that the cosy village feel we love so much will be lost . The appeal of Roda for us over the last 17 years (apart from the people of course) has been it's non conformity, the fact that everyhwhere doesn't look the same and there are little nooks and crannies and places we are still finding after all these years. We hope the character of our beloved village isnt spoiled by these 'improvements'

I shouldn't worry too much Dibble, changes come & changes go - some for the better, just look at the old concrete skeleton that was a blight on the place for years. At the end of the day Roda will still be Roda, the people will still be the same & you'll still have a great time out there. pete.

The "concrete skeleton" was a real eyesore wasnt it! What a transformation now though - I'm looking forward to seeing the 'new' road down to the beach - promise I'll keep my eyes open!
regards, Kath.
