Good morning from Roda. It didn’t look too promising when first got up, though I did decide that it might be dry and windy enough to risk washing Steve’s gardening clothes. After a cup of tea in bed it all looks a bit better, we have breaks in the clouds and some decent sunshine with a nice drying breeze. The humidity is also down so we have nice clear views of Albania across the channel, which seems quite calm. I have to take advantage of every scrap of sunshine, so the duvets and the mattress topper are out on the line having a good airing. We are off to the first table top sale in Sidari this morning just to catch up with friends from other resorts we only tend to see in the winter months.
Yesterday, especially in the morning, was a bit of a mixed bag. We had cloudy spells, mostly with some sunny patches but also some drizzle. But the low clouds descended down the mountain sides on both sides of the channel and it all looked a bit grim for a while. However, it did stay dry and we had some good sunny patches. We saw an attempt at a sunset which led onto a very cloudy evening, but the moon was spotted flirting with the clouds. There were plenty of village lights from Albania to be seen, joining those of the tanker still at anchor in the channel. We met Jon Banos just back from the UK inspecting the Boathouse and mainly the culvert alongside for the aftermath of the storm. He has quite a bit of clearing up to do but his canopy survived, propped up as it is by scaffolding. It was a calm evening, a little cool with the late evening temperature around 16°C.
The temperature at 10.00am on Saturday 16th November was 18.9°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 19.1°C and the minimum was 15.0°C.
The maximum temperature this day in 2018 was 14.7°C and the minimum 11.3°C a mostly cloudy day with daytime drizzle and heavy rain showers in the evening.
The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice).

Good morning from Roda. It was another dull start to the day with dark ominous colours to the north and the mainland. It was brighter to the south, but not that great. There is quite a breeze and I can hear the waves reaching the shore. There is still at least one tanker anchored in the channel as we watched the Minoan 11.30am ferry into Igouminitsa sail passed. Just now some sun has lit up one of the far valleys on the mainland, so you have this solid wall of ridges in the foreground and a brightly lit valley scene behind, quite amazing. I hummed and hawed about putting a wash in but decided against it as we are due rain later on today. Never mind, after all it is Sunday and a lazy day so I will cook a brunch soon and we’ll wander into the village for a coffee later on. For the middle of November, it is still quite warm with temperatures of 20°C, not bad at all.
Yesterday was quite a good day. It stayed bright but breezy with some good spells of sunshine and my washing soon dried because the humidity was a lot lower than recently. In other words, good drying weather. It did cloud over towards the end of the afternoon, but the evening saw breaks in the clouds through which we could see some stars and the wind died away. The sea was flat calm, and we could see the riding lights of the three tankers in the channel and a good display from the coastal villages of Albania.
The temperature at 10.00am on Sunday 17th November was 19.4°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 20.6°C and the minimum was 16.8°C. The maximum temperature this day in 2018 was 16.3°C and the minimum 11.1°C a cold clear start with the first snows on Albania seen. Clouded over to give a few spots of drizzle on and off during the day. The reported UV for Today is 2 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice).

I left Sfakera this morning on the minibus to Lefkimmi with the football team at 9am and it was drizzle. Some rains as we went over Trompeta and looked very grey to the West but brighter to South and SE. When we got to Benitses the sun was out and stayed out all way to Lefkimmi. Lovely sunny late morning and was still sunny when we left at about 2pm...……..but was rather windy. Nice 22-23c though. Back in clouds before Town and more rain over Trompeta; very grey to West and as Jan says a storm is due later today...….we await.....it was clearly raining Paleo way at 3:15pm.

A good morning from Sfakera.. I am covering again for Jan for a couple of days.
Last nights thunderstorm continued into the early hours with the showers heavy as they passed through. As dawn broke we still had a 90% cloud covering a mixture of whites and greys but there was blue sky to the NW and West. As we approach 9am the sun is out. There is however a chill in the air and a dampness about it too and for a change it is still. The sea looks calmer and a dark grey. It is 15.1c at 9am. I am hoping it stays dry this morning as I am working at the recycling centre.
Yesterday as you will note from the above post I was down south in Lefkimmi until 3:30pm and had the better weather; a perfect example of how it is different around the Island most of the time; so if on holiday if you have a car and its not too good; wet or even strong winds; just go for a drive and you will usually find some better weather elsewhere. Here in the village it stayed cloudy and the odd bit of drizzle; the days rains were light and it seems restricted to the hill and peaks behind us. I could see very grey clouds out to the SW and West on the way home and it was clear it was raining Paleo and NW way as we couldn't even see that way from Trompeta where it was raining. Time we were down past the quarry it had stopped. Arriving home it was still windy but not as strong as down south and around 4:30pm we had a short sunny spell that was nice. In fact all the day the temperature was good; very mild for the time of year. we first heard the distant rumbles of thunder just before 5:30 though it was still clear above it was very grey to the SW and West. It was just before 7pm the rains started and soon became heavy. It was showers that were short and sharp and as the thunder slowly got a bit louder. I was at the Neon watching England game and then some of the tennis (Tsitipas won the end of season ATP at the O2 in London to give the Greeks something to celebrate) but managed to walk home between the showers. However as it approached 11pm the rains got heavier, the thunder louder and the lights went out. The powercut lasted longer than that shower with the lights returning a bit before midnight. The thunder, lightning and the heavy showers continued into the early hours.
The maximum temperature was 21.4c and the minimum was 17.3c

Good morning from a wet Sfakera. We went to bed with an almost cloudless sky and a starlit night but woke to the sounds of rain. Clearly it had been raining for some time as the sodden ground had surface water. It stopped just after 7am but we were left with 100% clouds, grey as well but high, and no sign of Albania. There was a chill in the air but no breeze. Just after 10 am some sun appeared over Agnos and Roda Beach and it was 15.9c. The sun hasn't reached the village as yet.
Yesterday as the day passed so the clouds diminished; always some grey ones about but they passed and were moving fairly quickly as well considering there was almost no breeze at ground level. This gave us some lengthy sunny spells and a very pleasant day. In the morning the shift I did at recycling centre I only needed a t-shirt. Plenty of visitors as well coming as it wasn't raining. An afternoon sat in the garden watching the robin feast amoungst the wet fallen leaves while my dogs sunbathed. We were treated to the first nice sunset for a while, bright yellow as it set with a yellow sky on the horizon. As nightfell there was hardly a cloud to be seen; just a lovely starlit sky. It was still that way at midnight.
The maximum temperature was 19.3c (real feel 21c) and the minimum was 14.9c.

Good afternoon from Sfakera. I have been busy helping in village boiling wheat to make a sweet dish to be handed out after Church tomorrow; it is like a celebration of harvest but the Day in Orthodoxy is to celebrate Virgin Mary being taken to the Temple. Last nights thunderstorm just carried on into this morning and the rains were constant and heavy with a swirling wind. The lightning was both sheet and fork at the same time and amazing to watch. It started to ease after 8am and was finished by 9am and the clouds began to move away to give us blue sky and sunshine. There was lots of surface water; the winter stream on the way into the village is gushing. There were powercuts in many places and electric poles down as well as trees. It seems the storm has past us and is on the mainland heading for the Aegean.
Yesterday morning the rains cleared and it was sunny with lots of passing clouds. There was a very brief and light shower around midday, then it cleared to some sun before clouding over again after 2:30pm. We then had odd sunny interval, odd short shower and some light winds. During the evening the showers were of longer duration and there was distant thunder. The later it got the heavier the rains were and the more thunder. The lightning was all around and constant, both sheet and fork as the wind began to swirl and strengthen. The rain was continual, sometimes light, often heavy and were ongoing throughout the night.
The maximum temperature was 19.8c and the minimum was 13.1c.

Good morning from Sfakera. I was up at 5am to go to the village hall to help in the mixing of the boiled wheat with the spices, ouzo and sweets ready for Church later. It was chilly but the moon and stars were still in view with clouds to the SW and West. Dawn and the clouds were tinted pink and purple and grey. There were some lower white clouds underneath to the West. Grey clouds were high over Albania, the sea looks calm and greyish blue. The air was still and it was just 12.1c at 8am with signs that the sun is beginning to rise.
Yesterday the clouds slowly cleared away as the day went on but some always remained over the hills and in the NE and North over Albania where the weather front had moved too. Again it seems despite the problems in Corfu we escaped lighter than elsewhere with reports of flooding, landslide and power problems causing big problems on Zakinthos. As the clouds moved so the sunny intervals lengthened and by mid afternoon it was all sunshine with a gentle breeze. The air smelt damp as the ground was soaking in the puddles. There was a yellow sunset to the West as the moon, a large crescent was rising in the East however the moon soon vanished for a few hours due to clouds over our peaks but it remained starlit to the North, West and South. The lack of clouds meant the temperature dropped a bit quicker than usual and it was a much cooler night than of late.
The maximum temperature was 19.5c and the minimum was 15.8c.

Good morning from Roda. Many thanks again to Dave for doing the weather whilst we were away, it is much appreciated. Today we awoke to clear blue skies, a gentle wind and the sound of small waves coming ashore. I could see the villages of Albania across the channel just about as there was a bit oh haze. It was lovely and warm, even hot, sitting on our balcony eating breakfast. The shade temperature dictated a warm dressing gown, that in the sun required shorts and t-shirt! A load of washing taken in and another out whilst the sun lasts.
Yesterday started off well with generous amounts of sunshine, and a very heavy dew. As the day wore on it got increasingly cloudy with shorter periods of sun. It was a bit cooler here with the maximum around 17°C, whilst in the town it was hitting 19°C. We enjoyed a lovely coffee sitting in the sun in the café in the market on our way back to the car after our appointment. There was a lovely sunset, I missed the few minutes when it had been spectacular, but the pink tinged clouds afterwards were very pretty. The night sky was quite clear with many stars and lots of lights from around the bay. It was a cool evening with a temperature of 13°C at 11pm.
The temperature at 10.00am on Friday 22nd November was 13.2°C.

Good morning from Roda. If the weather was a person, I would have shot it this morning. We were due some sunshine first thing to be replaced by rain showers for the rest of the day. What we actually have is lots of clear sky and some clouds but no rain. I could have put a wash in to go out first thing, with the sunshine we have it would have been dry by now. Rant over. We had a chilly start to the day which was making me think of porridge for breakfast. By the time we actually moved it was way too hot on the balcony and we had our usual cereal muesli and fruit mix basking in the heat. Too warm at times for our winter dressing gowns. There is barely a breeze, the sea is calm and Albania is fairly clear across a blue/ grey sea. As I write this all the doors and windows are open to let in the sun.
Yesterday was lovely all day with almost constant sunshine. The clouds did increase in number during but didn’t really interfere with the sun. The breeze stayed gentle during the day, but became a chilly one in the evening. We were still able to enjoy our afternoon cup of tea at 4.30 on the balcony in just shirt sleeves. There was a pretty sunset, leading onto a very clear evening with so many stars and, indeed, so many lights around the bay and across the channel. In fact, there seemed to be so many more at Almyros at the end of St. Georges bay last night, ones we had never seen before. When you walk the same road every night you get to know the patterns and it was all a bit different. It was a very cool evening with the temperature at 11.00 11°C

Good morning from Roda. We awoke to quite a lengthy power cut and tea had to be done using our indispensable little gas stove. It lasted about an hour thankfully so breakfast is saved. It was very cloudy with only one or two small blue patches. The Albanian mountains were beautiful in their wild cragginess caught in the early morning light. The deep green sea set off the beauty of the mainland. It lifts the soul to see such beauty. The sea was ruffled with the strengthening breeze. The expected rain arrived around 11am just as I am writing this. The wind is starting to moan and whistle around the house and the cords from the fly screens are battering against the windows. It is due to get much stronger by tonight, so we have battened down the furniture on the balconies. Even so the sun is making an attempt at getting through the clouds. It was a mild morning with the temperature not dropping below 16°C.
Yesterday stayed bright and dry all day. The clouds did gradually build up covering the skies entirely by late afternoon, but by then we had had some lovely long periods of sunshine. The was no breeze and the sea remained calm so it looked like a summer’s day but not as warm. The afternoon breeze did spring up for a while before dying away by the end of the afternoon. The evening saw distant thunder and lightning apparently from the west, and by the time we were going to bed it was breezy again.

Good afternoon from Roda. There must have been quite a lot of rain during the night as the lawn was awash. The murk was down the hillside as we set off for town but the rain was just gentle and sporadic. It was cool though with the temperature as we went over the top at 11°C. Coming back the murk had cleared and we had a great view over Sidari and the Diapontians in a cold grey light. Since then we have had a few showers, but the wind has just about gone.
Yesterday was a bit of a wash out as days go. It stayed cloudy and we had rain off and, on all day, varying from spits and spots to lengthy showers. The wind did get strengthen, but we didn’t get the very strong winds forecast. The sea was getting quite rough out in the channel and they stopped the open sided ferries between here and the mainland. By evening the light rain was settled in, but the wind had dropped away almost completely.

Good morning from Roda. What a difference a day makes, after yesterday’s almost constant rain. Today we have clear skies with a few pretty white fluffy clouds around the edges. There is a gentle breeze. The sea is blue and calm and Albania is lovely and clear across the channel. We didn’t feel the 5am earthquake in Albania but many on the island got woken up. We were too far away for there to be any damage here but there are building collapsed and people have died or were injured in Albania. We were, however, deafened in our beds as a couple of jet fighters flew passed at very low level. That is the second time in a week that we have seen them. Washing out on the line drying.
Yesterday was just wet and miserable for the most part. There were gaps and breaks but not that long lasting. Some of the showers were very heavy indeed chasing the smokers inside with much muttering. Those bars and café’s we visit are taking the new fines very seriously. The smokers get fined but the bars get ten times the fine probably for each smoker, they cannot afford to take the risk. They will be OK today. Yesterday evening saw thunder and lightning, both distant and to the west and the rain eventually eased off. The ground is saturated and you can actually hear it as it drains. It was a very cool night with the coldest temperature of the day a chilly 11°C.

Good morning from Roda. We still have the lovely weather with lots of sunshine, but we do have more clouds around and rain is forecast for this evening. We’ll enjoy it while it lasts, and, of course, I have a line full of washing. There is just a little breeze and the sea is calm, and Albania with its cap of clouds is a bit hazy. But for the end of November I am not complaining.
Yesterday was lovely all day, though there was a slight build up of clouds in the afternoon, they didn’t really get in the way of the sun. By sunset they had all gone except for a few small thin things that lingered. The sunset was glorious with a startlingly clear Albania and the sea washed in all shades of pinks, but that beauty was totally eclipsed by the stunning deep red monochromatic sunset that set the western sky afire. The evening was chilly as we ambled into the village with the heavens full of stars. The air was so clear we could see so many lights from Albania. That earthquake yesterday has left a lot of people dead and missing, and we had quite a long aftershock this morning as we drank our morning cuppa. People we know came from that area and luckily their families are all OK but their house have had some damage and belongings had been thrown around.
The temperature at 10.00am on Wednesday 27th November was 12.1°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 17.5°C and the minimum was 10.4°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. Another early morning run into Corfu town means a late report. It was quite sunny first thing but there was quite a bit more cloud around than yesterday, and, as rain was threatened decided not to do any washing as I wouldn’t be here to take it in. There was a gentle breeze and the sea had remained calm, however Albania was almost lost in the mist. It stayed lovely all morning with hardly any interference by the clouds.
Yesterday was a mostly sunny day, with little in the way of wind and a relatively calm sea. The clouds did increase but, apart from one big threatening dark cloud, they never bothered us. There were enough clouds to add interest to the sunset, and enough breaks to allow some stars to shine. There were plenty of lights from Albania across the now flat calm sea. The wind was gentle and warmer with the late evening temperature a mild 15°C.
The temperature at 9.00am on Thursday 28th November was 14.3°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 17.1°C and the minimum was 10.1°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a bit of a mixed bag this morning as we do have sunshine but there is a lot of cloud around. There is a gentle breeze and the sea is calm and Albania is back on the opposite side. It was warm enough to have breakfast on the balcony enjoying the late November sun. It is so pleasant to sit there, enjoying the views and the chattering of all the little birds that are so plentiful in the garden at the moment. Even the everyday sounds of dogs barking, traffic and garden machinery just added to the pleasure. We just sit with our books and drink it all in.
Yesterday was a much better day than forecast. We had plenty of sunshine in the morning, and even though it clouded over in the afternoon it was still bright. The drizzle started mid-evening just as we were strolling back from the village. The sea was quite calm and there were plenty of lights from across the channel. Not long after the sky to the north was being lit up by more and more lightning with the thunder eventually being heard as the storm drew closer. There was a heavy downpour around 10.30pm just after Steve got in after closing the gates. That seemed to take the heart out of the storm and it petered out not too long after that. It was a mild evening though with the temperature still around 15°C as I went to bed.
