Good morning from Roda. There is a strong wind which is chasing the clouds across the sky, even giving us a miniscule patter of rain at one point. Albania is generally clear but can occasionally be hidden in some murk. The sea is a deep stormy blue with noisy waves and white horses in the channel. On the positive side it is still mild, we must be grateful for small mercies.
Yesterday stayed mostly sunny, with a gentle breeze, however the clouds fought back and it was mostly cloudy by the time the sunset came around it was mostly cloud. The setting sun spread a rippled carpet of crimson across the sky along the cloud base. Then the world turned pink. The clouds dispersed a bit to allow glimpses of stars and a sliver of a crescent moon. It was still a mild 15°C at 11pm.

Good morning from Roda. Kalo mena for the last time in 2019. And what a morning it is, with a chilly sub 10°C start. We have clear completely cloudless blue skies, barely a breath of wind, a deep blue sea with noisy waves hitting the shore and an Albania with in touching distance it is so clear. I have just had breakfast in the hot sun on the balcony watching the small birds in the garden enjoying a morning dip in the water filled ditch before snatch a quick bite from the multitude of insects that must be in the lawn. Being Sunday, it is quiet with barely any traffic to disturb the peace. It is a morning just to sit and enjoy the simple pleasures in life, a good book a nice cup of tea and just being here to enjoy and appreciate it all. OK, there are jobs to be done and washing to hang out and the camper to sort, but we’ll find time to sit and stare again.
Yesterday turned out to be quite a nice day, the clouds evaporated during the afternoon and the sharp morning shower became a distant memory. We still had clouds attached to the Albanian peaks opposite, for all the world reminding me of cauliflower florets. It remained windy, but it was a warm kind wind that didn’t chill you as can happen at this time of year. |The sea remained tempestuous with heavy waves flopping ashore with spray and heavy with fikia seagrass. The evening saw lots of stars, joined by those around the bay and Albania. Though one part of Albania was in the dark, I suspect it was a wide scale power cut. The moon had grown a bit from the sliver of the previous night and cut a distinct yellow shape in the night sky. It was a mild 16°C late into the evening. .
The temperature at 10.00am on Sunday 1st November was 16.7°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 18.0°C and the minimum was 14.1°C.
The maximum temperature this day in 2018 was 15.3°C and the minimum 8.1°C stayed cloudy and grey all day with the sun giving up early on, cleared in the evening. Good morning from Roda. Whilst it is not the lovely morning, we had yesterday it is still very nice indeed. We have sunshine though tempered through a sky veiled with thin cloud. There is the merest of breezes, the sea is very blue and calm, and Albania is still beautiful and clear across the channel. The high peaks, now with a solid covering of snow, can be seen from sea level now. Any north wind will now be cold as it blows over those snow fields. I don't know what went wrong with the report yesterday but I failed to update the temperatures properly. Corrected the figures this morning, hope I didn't confuse anyone.
Yesterday stayed lovely all day, the sky stayed clear right into the evening, with any clouds that tried to form soon giving up on the idea. It may have felt chilly in the shade but in the sun on the balcony we had 25°C, a near 10°C difference between the front and back balconies! It was a decidedly cool 10°C at 10.30pm.
The temperature at 10.00am on Monday 2nd. December was 10.9°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 16.7°C and the minimum was 9.3°C. The maximum temperature this day in 2018 was 15.8°C and the minimum 9.6°C a sunny and clear day. Good morning from Roda. It was a much milder night, but the clear skies we had when we went to bed have now been completely replaced with clouds. We have steady gentle rain and a bit of a breeze. The sea looks calm in the channel with a distinctly blurred Albania on the other side. First bowl of porridge this winter! Off to Ioannina for a couple of days so leaving you all in the capable hands of Dave.
Yesterday stayed dry all day with the morning of clouds and sunny periods giving way gradually in the afternoon to much clearer skies. The sunset started off quite gently with a rosy golden glow to the west. Then the deep reds muscled in with great sweeps of colour offsetting the dark grey of the rounded clouds. The thinner clouds picking up all the nuances of colours from grey to reds to purples. Another one just to watch and see it change before your eyes. The evening was quite mild with no breeze and a millpond sea. The stars filled the sky joined by the village lights of Albania and the ones round the bay.

Good morning from Sfakera; the air is humid as yesterdays rains evaporate from the trees as the rising sun reaches them. After light winds during the night it is almost cloudless; a few very small fluffy clouds about. The sea is calm and the air now still. Albania has a fine shroud of humidity but is otherwise clear. AT 9:30am it was 13.6c.
Yesterdays early morning winds and rain which was a bit heavier here it cleared but we still had full cloud cover and a gentle breeze. Around 10:45 I thought about walking to the shops but by the time I had my shoes and jacket on so it started to rain, spots at first, then gentle and then heavy for about half an hour leaving big puddles on the ground. There followed a few short sunny intervals but the clouds were always dominating the skies and after 12:30 it darkened again. The rains came about 1pm and again were initially heavy before becoming a shower of constant rain until just after 2:15pm. It stayed cloudy but fortunately the rains had stopped as there was a funeral in the village. As we walked back from the cemetery at 4:15 a very light drizzle began and continued for about an hour before becoming a shower that was heavy at times, easing after 7pm but rains continuing on and off until near 10pm. As midnight approached so a light wind picked up.
The minimum temperature was 13.3c and the maximum was 17.3c.

Good morning from a chilly Sfakera; an early report as I am at the recycling centre today. We wake to the first day this autumn/winter where the village temperature has dropped below 10c...……..being just 8.5c at 8:30am. It is a split sky with high grey clouds to the SW and West while it remains cloudless to the North and East. The sun is up on the Albanian peaks but has yet to grace our shores; the sea dark blue and calm, the air still with a distinct chilly feel...more noticeable than it should be as we have had such mild weather to date. In the mountains in the Northern Mainland they had minus temperatures last night! Winter is coming.
Yesterday was a fine mostly sunny day with just the odd shady interval in the afternoon. The morning remained cloudless with just the hint of breeze. Slowly small fluffy but greyish clouds formed over our hills behind but there they remained throughout the afternoon occasionally blocking out the sun for short periods. There was a gentle breeze all afternoon but my drying washing hardly moved on the line; but was nice and dry by mid afternoon. The sea looked dark blue and calm in the sun. It was a day of birdsong in the garden; my visiting Robin even came within a few feet of me when having lunch to get a few crumbs for himself. There was a lovely deep yellow sunset around 4:30pm; shortly after a line of grey clouds appeared to the far West. The night started starlit with the moon tinted yellow high to the West but slowly the thin clouds came and passed; not hanging around long enough to stop the temperature continuing to fall.
The maximum temperature was 17.4c and the minimum was 13.1c.

Good morning from Roda. It is a cloudy morning here with 100% cloud cover. There is no breeze to talk about and the sea is calm with gentle waves being heard. Albania has been reduced to a single block of dark grey. It is cool, but still warm enough to enjoy breakfast on the balcony in fluffy dressing gowns.
Yesterday was a grey cool day with periods of intermittent showers with heavy mist. There was no real wind which made it feel quite mild, and the sea was very calm. Some of the haze cleared in the evening so we could see lights of the larger Albanian villages. All in all not much to report, just grey damp winter’s day.

Good morning from Roda. We must have had quite a bit of rain during the night judging by the pools on the lawns and the amount flowing in the ditch. However, we have good patches of blue skies with sunshine, though there are plenty of clouds around. They are particularly low down over our mountains and Albania is just about lost in them as well. There is quite a breeze and the sea is getting choppier with noisy white topped waves coming ashore and whole herds of white horses in the channel. It is several degrees warmer this morning and the night was mild as well, so doors and windows open to let the sun in, and washing drying on the line.
Yesterday stayed mostly cloudy all day with barely a hint of any blue. There was little wind and the sea remained calm and there was a general haze hiding Albania from view. Sunset was only detected by a light peach coloured flushing of the clouds. The rain started around 8pm with intermittent showers. We managed to get home reasonably dry, and the moon had found a gap to light our way. Albania though was still lost to view. It was mild with the late evening temperature of 15°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. A late report because Steve and I joined in the beach clean here in Roda. The main beach was done last weekend so we helped the last bit up to Roda Beach Hotel. It was a glorious morning for it and coats and cardigans discarded straight away and we worked in T-shirts. Afterwards we went to have a coffee at the Tropicana with friends we worked beside. Got back just in time to hang my washing out as the days are short now and the sun disappears behind a tree too soon. This morning we had an almost clear blue sky with some very decorative clouds dotted around. The sea was blue and calm and there was a slight breeze. The haze from yesterday had lifted and Albania was lovely and clear across the channel. It had been quite a mild and dry night.
The photo was taken this morning from near Alexandros on the Beach looking towards Roda.
Yesterday stayed dry all day after the very wet night. The clouds lifted during the day without entirely going away. Our mountain tops cleared but Albania remained shrouded. After a cloudier spell the skies cleared quite a bit before sunset. The sea, which had been magnificent with so many shades of blues and greens all topped with creamy white horses, started to calm down by the evening. The evening saw a very bight moon lighting our path home as the sky was still quite clear. The Albanian lights from the larger villages put in an effort to be seen. It was quite mild with the late evening temperature 14°C.
The temperature at 9.00am on Sunday 8th. December was 12.2°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is another glorious morning here. We have almost clear blue skies, however there are some lumpy clouds around, particularly over Ipsos way and Albania. Still almost too warm for our breakfast on the balcony. Albania is not quite as clear today as it was yesterday, separated from us by a calm sea, very pale sapphire colour for most of the channel, with the wind near Albania turning the sea a deep cobalt blue. It was quite cool around dawn but is heating up quite nicely. It the shade you need warm clothing but only a t-shirt in the sun. More washing out to dry whilst the weather holds good.
Yesterday was just clear and sunny all day. A picture-perfect day with hardly and clouds to hide the sun or wind to ruffle the calm surface of the sea. It cooled rapidly as the sun set in a glorious monochrome display. The night was clear and cloudless with an amazingly bright moon, whose brightness masked the light from the stars. We didn’t get our usual evening walk into the village as Steve had a 24 hour bug, from which he seems to have just about recovered from. We will take it easy today.

Good morning from Roda. It was pouring down when we awoke, and judging by the amount of standing water around (welly boots needed to get out of the apartment) it has rained for most of the night. There wind is almost non-existent, and the sea is calm but ruffled. The rain means that Albania and our hills are mostly lost in the murk, however, we can see that the tops of the coastal mountains now have quite a covering of snow. It is cool though, so breakfast inside sitting in front of the fire.
Yesterday stayed lovely for most of the day. The cloud cover did steadily increase as the day wore on until we had almost full cover over head. The late afternoon saw the sun hitting the far peaks and valleys of Albania whilst those in the foreground remained dark and forbidding. As the sun left those mountains it found a way beneath the cloud base over us and gradually moved the hills behind us in turn. Sunset itself could only be seen by a slight peach tinge to the clouds. Evening saw the almost full moon seeking holes in the clouds to lit our way home from the village. The sea was so calm it couldn’t be bothered to break a ribble, let alone a wave. It was a cool 14°C in the late evening.
The temperature at 10.00am on Tuesday 10th. December was 11.0°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 15.7°C and the minimum was 9.1°C. The maximum temperature this day in 2018 was 16.0°C and the minimum 8.9°C. Good afternoon from Roda. Delayed report due to early morning trip into Corfu Town and shopping and coffee breaks on the way back. It was a very cloudy but dry start to the day as we got up before dawn, which came in with a slight flushing of the clouds. The sea appeared calm and there wasn’t much of a wind. The roads were still very wet and the winter potholes were full of water. Coming over the top at Trumpeta with Corfu Town before us it was a picture in shades of grey with the sea a silvery pink shade as the sun rose. There was no haze to blur the edges, it was beautiful, especially with a clear the mainland, which looked so close. The skies partially cleared as the morning progressed.
Yesterday saw the rain stop around mid-morning, with the mainland and our hills emerging from the haze. The clouds remained but the sun was making a determined effort to break through. It stayed a uniform grey over us with the clouds over the mainland having a bit more definition. It was still windless and the sea flat calm, but the drizzle started again around 8pm. We managed to get home not too damp despite leaving our brolly at home when we went out. There were some Albanian lights across the channel to join those around the bay. It was a chilly 12°C at bed time.

Good morning from Roda. It is a public holiday here in Corfu for St Spiridon’s feast day. I don’t know when I will get this on as we are having a long power cut, and it’s not the best of days to have one with it being that public holiday. It started sometime during the night and is on-going. Turned out it wasn’t a power cut, but the main trip in our meter box had gone. The first time it has done so in seven years. We have lovely blue skies with wispy clouds overhead and some thicker ones over the mainland. Snow is still topping the higher peaks of Albania. There is a very slight breeze, but it is enough for it to take the edge off the sun on the balcony. So quick wash and dress then we can enjoy our breakfast outside in that sun, after all the temperature is still in single figures.
Yesterday was an amazing day. Not directly for the weather, but indirectly. We had a strange light which gave such clarity as we came over Trumpeta. The Diapontian Islands, though dark in appearance, were amazing in that beaches and villages could be seen. I have never seen all three in such a light. Again, Albania clear but dark with blinding white snow-capped peaks. My words don’t do it justice. By sunset the clouds had cleared even more and gave us a pretty sunset, then the moon rose. A large, glorious golden orb so bright my torch wasn’t needed, and it even dimmed those few stars in the sky. The sea was bringing long low waves ashore. We were grateful there was no wind as the temperature fell to a cold 9°C by the end of the evening.
The temperature at 10.00am on Thursday 12th. December was 8.7°C.

Good morning from Roda. It was a wet and rainy night judging by the amount of water on the balcony and in the garden. We had grey skies overhead and an Albania lost in deep haze and our mountains almost as bad. However, there was blue skies to the west and as the morning progresses the blue skies have spread eastward and now we have sunshine and Albania and our mountains have become much clearer. The lack of sun made it feel cold even though it was warmer than yesterday first thing. We have a gentle breeze and the sea is ruffled but has changed from a forbidding grey to a more inviting blue. Now the sun is out doors and windows are being opened keep the house aired. It is so easy here for rooms to get damp.
Yesterday we had a lovely quite sunny morning with fairly clear skies. However, it started to spot with rain even whilst the sun was still shining around lunch time. The clouds and hence the rain steadily developed, the sea looked like molten metal until Albania and our mountains were lost in the heavy rain. Evening saw the rain cease for most of it and the skies cleared allowing stars and the full moon to do their bit, aided and abetted by the lights around the bay. However, there was a dark cloud, probably over the Greek mainland and we saw lightning there several times on our walk back from the village. It was a lowly 10°C by 10pm.

Good morning from Roda. It was another wet night that continued once we had got up, the sea was raging and very noisy. Rumbles of thunder were heard during the night. Part of the storm that we saw the lightning of last night. It was completely cloudy with Albania not very clear and clouds lurking in our valleys. The wind started increasing as it moved from a southerly direction to a more northerly one and the maestro kicked in. We now have very strong winds and the rough seas have moved in shore with waves seen across the full width of the channel. The wind is clearing the rain and the murk away and it stopped raining around 11ish.The temperature is about normal for this time of year, but feels chilly due to the damp. It is supposed to get a lot warmer tomorrow.
The day didn’t start off too badly with some blue spreading from the west with a bit of a breeze. The clouds fought back though and we had a mixed afternoon of sunshine and clouds, but mostly clouds. The evening saw us having rain showers even though the moon was popping up every now and again in odd cracks in the clouds, and Albania was pretty clear. There was some lightning seen over the mainland as we walked back from the village. We only just got back before the heavens opened. It was a cool 13°C and getting windy as we went to bed.
