Good morning from Roda. It is a calm very misty morning here, with Albania gone from across the ruffled sea. The mountains behind are veiled to the point to almost being devoid of features. Breakfast, as usual, on the balcony basking in the warmth of the emerging sun. There is no wind to affect the feel, though we are due another windy spell later on.
The only word that could have described the weather conditions yesterday windy and dusty. It stayed extremely windy for most of the day with very little in the way of a respite. But it was the dust that was a serious problem, it was even mentioned on the national news! Great swirling impenetrable clouds of dust, covering everything. All the cars look like they have driven through the Sahara, where indeed most of the dust came from. We did get the occasional brighter spell, and the wind did seem to ease as the day was approaching the end. But it was very warm, uncomfortably so, with a very low humidity reading, and it was too windy and dusty to have windows and doors open.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Wednesday 24th. April 2019 was 19.1°C, real feel 18°C, and the humidity 52% giving a dew point of 9°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 20.1°C and the minimum 14.2°C. Another sunny and breezy day with a few clouds around.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 23.0°C (real feel 22°C), and the minimum was 16.3°C , a dew point of 10°C.
The maximum humidity was 66% and the minimum 43%.
The reported UV for today is high at 8 ( Range 1- 11+). We have now reached that time of year were the sun cream has to appear, so easy to burn with this high UV.
UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice). The maximum temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2018 was 33.0°C real feel 35°C, on 8th June. The maximum recorded temperature ever in Corfu was 42.8°C The lowest recorded temperature was -8.8°C

Good morning from Roda. It is a very murky morning here today. There is an overall greyness which almost seems to have enclosed us in a bubble. Looking towards Albania it is difficult in places to see where the sea starts. The hills behind us are just forms on the backdrop. However, it is calm with barely a breath of wind, the sea is noiseless and it is quite mild. The lack of sun downplaying the warm temperature on the thermometer. Distant thunder and lightning in the south from around mid-morning, but no rain. People are rushing around trying to get jobs done before any rain. All of a sudden, we are seeing quite a few fires being lit, to beat any rain and the end of month deadline. We still enjoyed breakfast on the balcony watching little sparrows nest building. Steve has been working in the garden and was lucky to watch a large flock of bee-eaters flying overhead. They have quite a distinctive purring call that I couldn’t catch as the apartment next door is being renovated with lots of hammering and concrete busting.
Yesterday was another very warm but misty day with the sun barely making an appearance. When it did, near sunset, it could only manage a pale lemon shade, reflected in the flat calm pewter coloured sea. It was quite a picture with a yacht at anchor and a small fishing boat setting nets for the evening. It was quite a tableau but too distant for my camera to catch. Previously in the late afternoon the wind got up with such intensity and ferocity that everything in the house went flying and doors banged. It was gone as quickly as it came with reports of damaged gardens in its wake. The day stayed mild with the late evening temperature a balmy 21°C, fine for bare legs and a cardie.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Thursday 25th. April 2019 was 18.9°C, real feel 19°C, and the humidity 60% giving a dew point of 11°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 19.9°C and the minimum 12.4°C. Another sunny day with a slight afternoon breeze.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.3°C (real feel 24°C), and the minimum was 17.1°C , a dew point of 12°C.

Good morning from Roda. It looks like it is going to be a lovely day. We have sunshine, barely a breeze, and the sea is noiseless and looks calm. The haze has lifted a bit to allow Albania to re-appear, albeit as an outline. The UV is high at 8/9 so even with a lowish shade temperature, in the sun it feels red hot. It is supposed to be dry with some clouds and wind coming and going for the next ten days. This is good because we are now in the Greek Easter weekend with the pot throwing and processions in town tomorrow and all the spit roast lamb on Sunday.
Yesterday stayed very murky all morning with the haze never lifting. Around mid-day we started to get distant thunder and lightning, which could have been over the south of the island or on the mainland. This was accompanied by quite a shower of rain for a time. However as the afternoon progressed we had some strong winds for a time after which the haze started clearing from the east and we ended up with quite a decent end of the day. The lights of Albania were just about visible during our evening stroll back from the village. The night was mild with a temperature of 18°C at 10.30pm.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday 26th. April 2019 was 18.9°C, real feel 19°C, and the humidity 60% giving a dew point of 11°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. We went into town on a bus trip to see the Easter pot throwing, so a shortened report. The morning was a bit cool as we set off but by the time, we got to Corfu Town the sun was doing its job. It was very warm standing in the open as the crowds gathered. We met quite a few people from Roda which added to the atmosphere.
Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day with the sky streaked with feathery clouds. It was warm enough and the sea calm enough for Steve to have his second swim of the season, well I think, of the year. The period before sunset was eerily beautiful. The mist had swallowed up Albania, the sea was glassy and silver, and the sun a lemon colour adding its cool glow to the whole picture. On our way back from the village the evening was quite mild and we were delighted with quite a show of the fireflies, always a sight to wonder at. It was still 18°C
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 27th. April 2019 was unrecorded.

Good morning from Roda. Happy Greek Easter, Kalo Paska to everyone. It is such a glorious morning here. The haze has retreated and Albania is standing as clear as can be across the choppy blue sea, decorated with an occasional small white horse. Even the roads can be picked out! Behind us the hillsides are symphony in green with the olives, cypresses, oaks etc. You feel you can count almost every leaf and blade of grass. The blue of the swimming pool at Semeli behind us contrasts with the blinding white of the building. On the balcony all you can here is the songs of the birds and an odd dog bark. It is peaceful because everyone is with their families enjoying breaking the Lenten fast with much roast lamb. Just about all businesses are closed, with many not reopening until Tuesday.
Yesterday, after such a glorious morning, the clouds came over and it got a bit breezy, just as we were sitting down with a cooling icecream!! On our walk back to the bus there were even a few spots of rain. We had been dropped off at the old town but were picked up near the main gate of the port. There was a shuttle bus laid on, but we decided to walk. We easily did our 10,000 steps! The weather for the drive back from town was closing in with quite heavy mist and a threatening sky. It did not improve much going over Troumpeta, with no views of the islands or Albania. However by the time we got back to Roda it was staring to brighten and the clouds melted away to give us a lovely evening. Our walk back from the village was very pleasant with a few scattered stars joining a few lights from Albania and a gfew brave fireflies as it felt a little on the cool side. The temperature at 11pm however was 18°C.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 28th. April 2019 was 16.3°C.

Good morning from Roda. We awoke to heavy cloud being held up by the hills behind us, however there we plenty of the its friends around and we now have an almost complete cover with just a few patches of blue. On the bright side it is quite mild and breakfast was taken on the balcony as usual. There is a bit of a breeze and the sea is quite ruffled. Albania, after making such a dramatic appearance yesterday, had receded into the haze and its presence only noted by its outline. A marked contrast from yesterday is that the sea of green trees that graced the hills appear to have turned silver in this haze.
Yesterday was a cracking day. It stayed sunny and so clear all day. We were once again able to see that snow still capped the higher Albanian peaks, with pockets on the lower slopes. The sea was that bright sapphire blue blending to turquoise in the shallows, with the trees a vibrant green on the hillsides. The fields around us are a mass of wild flowers, a riot of yellows, pinks and white, and in the gardens, we have the roses blooming with the white balls of flowers of the viburnum at their very best. Corfu was definitely wearing its Sunday finery. The evening was just as clear with a star strewn sky, all the lights from the mainland villages being joined by the twinkle of the fireflies. It was a chilly night, just as the day had been glorious in the sun it had been quite cool in the shade.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Monday 29th. April 2019 was 16.5°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 26.8°C and the minimum 16.3°C. A cloudy start but clearing to give a good sunny and hot day.

Good morning from Roda. We had a very similar weather to this morning as yesterday. There is quite a lot of cloud around, but the sun does make an appearance quite frequently. There is a gentle breeze, but the sea is very ruffled with small white horse rearing their heads in the bay. However, we needed parasols to enjoy our breakfast on the balcony. The temperature in the shade may read 16°C, but in the sun, it is so much hotter and with the high UV it can easily burn. Some of the haze as retreated so that Albania is back, but not in much detail, and our trees appear more green than silver.
Yesterday, for most of the day, stayed cloudy and feeling cool. Though there are some people who seem quite happy to sit outside under the parasols at Pirates. It was much cooler on the sea front as there was a bit of a breeze. It must have been that breeze that chased the clouds away, because it seemed, all of a sudden, we had clear skies and plentiful sunshine. The haze melted and Albania reappeared and our trees turned back to green with such clarity. The evening stayed clear with plenty of stars, lots of lights around the bay and a chorus of cicadas. However, we didn’t see many fireflies as it did feel a bit chilly. The temperature at 11pm was 15°C.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Tuesday 30th. April 2019 was 17.0°C.

Good afternoon from Roda, and Kalo mena for the first of May. A bank holiday here, but most places are now opening for the start of the 2019 season. So it is also have a good summer and season. Delayed report because, being the first of May we had to make our stephanie (May day wreath, to bring happiness to the house for the coming year). So we had an early morning walk out into the fields to gather orchids, byzantine lilies and may flowers to go with the yellow flowered acacia that we gathered yesterday. The wreath is traditionally made from wild flowers gathered in the morning, but these days it is common to see garden flowers, or even ones from the florist used. Back to the weather. We hade a very cloudy and quite cool start to the day with 100% cover. It was however reasonably clear with not much haze, the wind was gentle, the sea looked calm further out but waves were breaking on the shore line. It looked a bit threatening to the south, which is a pity as it is the May Day panayri (festival) tonight, with spit roast lamb, souvlaki, and traditional dancers and band. Yesterday started out cloudy, but by mid-day the clouds had cleared and the haze receded and we were treated to a beautiful, if a little cool, afternoon. In the sun, out of any wind it was very warm, feeling much warmer than the high centigrade teens. Albania was left with a topping of fluffy white clouds, and even these were melting away as night fell. It was a lovely clear starlit night, with the lights round the bay increasing as plces start to open for the season. There was no breeze, but was too chilly for the lovely fireflies to make an appearance. It was cool 15°C by 11.30pm.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Wednesday 1st. May 2019 was 14.4°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 24.6°C and the minimum 15.5°C. A clear sunny day.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was our turn at the recycling centre this morning, we have to be there for a 9-11am shift. We were so hot and thirsty we went straight away for a coffee and a bite. It was a lovely start to the day with lots of blue sky with only a few clouds dotted around and Albania had a topping of them. The sea looked nice and calm and we couldn’t hear any waves. There was a bit of a breeze which is supposed to get stronger as the day progresses.
Yesterday, after such a grey and cloudy start, turned out lovely, with the clouds melting away by mid-day. The afternoon saw only a few clouds decorating the sky, and they almost disappeared with the late afternoon breeze. What few were left were painted a lovely rosy red as the sun set. However there was a chilly breeze and it was cold sitting at the tables at the festival. We enjoyed our souvlakia and retsina and were heading for warmth as most of the locals were turning up. It went on for some time judging by the music we could hear. The evening saw clear skies with some stars trying to outshine the lights from around the bay and across the channel. However, it was too chilly for more than the occasional firefly to make an appearance. It was a cool 13°C in the late evening.
The temperature at 8.00 am on Thursday 2nd. May 2019 was 14.2°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 26.9°C and the minimum 15.0°C. A clear sunny day with a cloudy spell in the afternoon.

Good morning from Roda. It is a lovely morning here with plenty of sunshine. What appears to be almost a cloudless sky has, in fact, quite of bit of very thin high stuff that isn’t impeding the sun too much, though the UV for today is a bit lower than we have had. There is sufficient haze to reduce Albania to little more than an outline across a very calm sea. There is barely a breath of wind to stir the trees. Breakfast once more on the balcony, overlooking our tree covered hills. I am desperate to put photos on but am still having problems with loading them. I am blaming the internet out here, as when we both try to use our laptops at the same time neither of us can do anything! I will persevere.
Yesterday stayed sunny all day with hardly any clouds to interfere. There was the usual afternoon breeze and we saw waves staring to come ashore, getting to be quite large until the wind died away in the early evening. The shade temperature remained cool, but out in the sun it was gloriously hot and we are starting to see tourists with red shoulders having been caught by the sun. There was a lovely, but monochromatic, sunset with few clouds to add any interest. The evening was still chilly though with plenty of stars and lights round the bay, but, sadly, no fireflies.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday 3rd. May 2019 was 15.7°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 25.6°C and the minimum 18.6°C. An overnight thunderstorm with heavy cloud and light rain in the morning easing as the day went on to end up dry but cloudy.

Good afternoon from Roda. Things just got a bit busy this morning so a delayed report. Not that it is a great one anyway. We had complete cloud cover and an early morning shower which caught my washing I had left out overnight! However there was a bit of a breeze and they soon dried. Despite the clouds we have very good visibility and can see the whole of the mainland coastline, which is rare. The Albanian peaks have a cap of clouds stuck on them, but ours are clear. The sea doesn’t look inviting and is quite dark looking and choppy. No swim today. The shade temperature hasn’t changed but the lack of the sun is really felt.
Yesterday started off well with nice blue skies and few clouds but it did become increasingly cloudy and we ended up with full cover by the late afternoon. A bit of a breeze sprung up so it felt a lot colder than the thermometer stated. WE got a few clearer patches in time for sunset which was mainly a muted flush of pink. However, the clouds did vanish to give a clear evening with some stars, lots of lights around the bay and across the sea, and was mild enough to give us firflies in the garden. It was 17°C just before midnight.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 4th. May 2019 was 17.1°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 24.0oC and the minimum 16.6°C. A cloudy start to the day clearing to give good sunny spells.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 20.3°C (real feel 20°C), and the minimum was 12.8°C, a dew point of 13°C.

Good morning from Roda. We feel sorry for the holiday makers today. We have rain and very poor visibility. Albania and our hills have been lost in the dense murk, in fact we have lost sight of the buildings on the main road! What started out when, we woke up, as a gentle rain has now intensified, and the wind has strengthened so that the rain is hammering on the windows. No gardening today, and Steve worrying about his newly planted seeds. We understand that it may be all part of the changing global weather but it is of little comfort to our visitors. This poor weather is due to last a for at least another day. We would need full waterproofs to have a very soggy breakfast on the balcony.
Yesterday was dry, but with 100% cloud cover during the day. It felt cool due to the absence of the sun, and the slight breeze didn’t help. The good visibility in the morning was soon lost as some haze wondered in. There were a few brighter spells in the afternoon, but nothing to get excited about and the sun failed to materialise. There was a quick shower in the early evening with a few spits and spots later on. It was however quite a clear night with no wind, a calm sea and lots of lights around the bay and across the water. It was mild enough for quite a good show of fireflies, with the late evening temperature 17°C.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 5th. May 2019 was 17.6°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 20.6°C and the minimum 18.2°C. Thunderstorm and heavy rain with extremely poor visibility, clearing in the evening.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 18.0°C (real feel 18°C), and the minimum was 15.1°C, a dew point of 13°C.
The maximum humidity was 74% and the minimum 64%.

Good morning from Roda. First of all, an apology, I omitted mentioning a thunder storm with heavy rain that occurred yesterday morning around 3am. We slept through it!! Secondly, I should have put a UV reading on of UV6, but it was so wet and awful when I wrote the report it didn’t seem likely that we would get sun, and it wasn’t forecast that there would be so much of it. Any way back to today. We have quite a lot of cloud around, but there are good expanses of blue and the sun wins through now and then. There is a bit of a cooling breeze and the haze is back with Albania only an outline. The sea looks mostly calm and we have long low waves coming ashore. Our garden is full of birds darting around catching insects, there must be around 50 at any one time. Lovely to see.
Yesterday after such a wet, and stormy beginning started to clear by early afternoon. The blue was certainly winning and we soon had lovely clear skies, and abundant sunshine. There were still quite a lot of clouds around but they were staying over the mainland and leaving us alone. It felt quite cool along the seafront, but as soon as you turned away from it, it was lovely. It stayed like that for the rest of the day. We did see some more clouds creeping in towards sunset, unusual stripes of them in the west with a lemon dying sun behind them. The sky and the sea all turned pewter coloured in the light. The evening was quite mild with plenty of lights showing around the bay and across the channel, but they were outdone by the fireflies which are really getting into their stride, magical. This time of year, is beautiful here, with fields full of flowers, hedgerows full of colour, all the migrating birds are back and then the cicadas start singing and the fireflies start dancing. Perfection. The odd bit of rain doesn’t dampen it.

Good morning from Roda. We have had another wet and stormy night with thunder, lightning and heavy rain. We awoke to a very breezy day with plenty of clouds and little sun. It was very cool, but feeling much cooler in the strong breeze. It send Steve in from the garden, soil too wet to dig and too windy to plant seeds! The clouds are receding now and we are getting some sunny periods but it is still very cool, the temperature is not rising at all. I even went out to check that my sensor was still working! It is supposed to improve during the day. The sea is quite rough with fairly large waves coming ashore. It is a wonder mix of all shades of blue now the sun is on it. The haze is not too bad so Albania can be seen in some detail.
Yesterday, wasn’t the best day for our visitors. It was a cloudy morning, but the afternoon saw some good spells of sunshine before clouding over again. We watched in the late afternoon as a rain shower moved from over Arillas to give us a quick one before heading towards Acharavi. The early evening saw a very pretty show with everything, clouds sea and land all in tonal shades of grey, with a blush of the sunset still vivble behind the clouds. Later on in the evening we saw more heavy rain showers, with thunder and lightning. It was a chilly 14°C by the end of the day.

Good morning from Roda. It is a much better morning here. We have almost clear blue skies over us with just a few fluffy ones to the south, and plenty of sunshine. There is very good visibility with Albania nice and clear across the channel with a frothy topping of white clouds. The sea has calmed down remarkably from yesterday, looking calm further out, but with long low waves coming ashore. There is almost no wind, but it is much cooler than we would expect at this time of year, with daytime temperatures around 4-5°C lower than expected.
Yesterday had a very bad start but it improved in that the clouds dispersed and we ended up with a nice and sunny afternoon. However, there was a very strong wind blowing and the temperatures were low, making it feel very cold out in the open. The seas continued to rage all day, whipped up by the wind. That self-same wind though cleared away the high humidity and we got a sparklingly clear end to the afternoon. Some clouds did come back in the evening, enough to give us a very pretty sunset. The temperature didn’t drop much from the afternoon high of 17°C and we still had 15°C at 11.30pm. The temperature at 10.00 am on Wednesday 8th. May 2019 was 14.1°C. Real feel 13°C and dew point 9°C.
