Good morning from Sfakera; we awake to an almost grey start. To the NE and E the clouds are high, thin and light almost whitish and there is the odd glimpse of the sky behind. However to the SW and W the clouds are much thicker and also greyer in colour. Just a hint of a breeze. The sea calm and very grey in colour; a sea mist so I can only just make out the little fishing boat off Agnos; Albania is an outline of the peaks through the mist. It was a mild 14.0c at 9am.
Yesterday got better as the day progressed but slowly. From 9:30am we had glimpses of the sun through the thinning clouds. There was only a gentle breeze so it was left to the sun to burn off the clouds and this was done gradually although wherever you looked there was always very high, thin streaky layers of white cloud. The temperature kept rising though to make it very pleasant indeed if you were outside especially for walking in the countryside. During the mid afternoon the clouds to the SW and W had cleared sufficiently for there to be long periods of full sun though the next part of the weather front could be seen building on the distant horizon behind. The sunset was yellow and followed by a light yellow sky on the horizon to the West but clouds were slowly moving in from the South. We still had a partial starlit night until well after midnight.
The maximum temperature was 21.4c and the minimum 12.1c.

Good afternoon from Sfakera. This morning we woke to almost full cloud cover, there wer a few gaps to the NE and E which the sun soon popped through. The cloud was whiter and thinner to the East and greyer to the south west in particular and there was a gentle breeze. The clouds were below the peaks of Albania which sat on top of them with higher clouds above. The sea looked grey and choppy but there were no whitetops.
Yesterday there were short sunny intervals early and these gradually increased in length as the day went bye but there were always clouds around, layers high and below fluffy clouds usually grey in colour but though large they were individual and so there was no rain. Mid afternoon it was rather pleasant but to the SW the clouds were beginning to build in banks of darker grey. Around 4pm the sun was to fade from view for the day and we had total cloud cover. The rains didn't arrive until after 6pm and they were constant but light to start; around 7:30 there were long rumbles of thunder but not they sounded distant. There were odd gaps in the rain but on the whole it rained for the rest of the day not stopping completely until well into the early hours this morning. It was 3am when I finally staggered home (my excuse was I was waiting for a break in the rain, haha!!) and bye then it had just about stopped.
The maximum temperature was 18.8c and the minimum was 13.1c.

Good afternoon from Sfakera. This morning it was full cloud cover and a light wind but dry. The clouds shrouded both the Albanian peaks and those of the Pantocrator range. The sea looked choppy and was grey in colour. It was 14.1c at 10am.
Yesterday it slowly cleared to give some short sunny periods from late morning through to early afternoon. The clouds began to thicken and there was a light shower at about 3:30pm. It soon passed and cleared even more to nice longer sunny periods into the early evening but there were still lots of large dark grey clouds around. The sun did set early due to the clouds and there was further light showers after 7pm and throughout the evening.
The maximum temperature was 17.5c and the minimum was 13.4c.

Good morning from Sfakera. It is like we are inside the clouds; very damp and misty after early morning rains. It is just about possible to make out the sea from my balcony but I cannot see Albania at all. The mist is inside the olive groves below me making it feel cooler than the 14.1c it was at 10am. There is a gentle breeze.
Yesterday morning the clouds were thick and low; nearly every shade of grey could be seen as you looked around the sky. There was the odd small gap and there were some nice but short sunny intervals. It could be sunny in Acharavi but not in Roda; then sunny in Roda but not in Sfakera. The clouds were down below the Pantocrator peaks all day. Around 1pm there was a light shower. Mid afternoon I went to the airport and there were signs of heavier rains as I made my way up to Trompeta and onto Skripero. In Town itself there were some nice sunny intervals; the sun highlighting the 3 cruise liners in the Port. The airport was quiet and is a bit of a mess at moment due to all the works going on; the check in area has no information screens up so you have no idea if your flight is on time or delayed; in fact there was nothing to tell you about any flights at all. I guess there were screens working once through into departures. A pleasant drive back home was sunny most of the way but this side of Trompeta there was more cloud and no sun. The evening remained cloudy and the light wind that had been around all day remained.
The maximum temperature was 15.9c and the minimum was 13.2c.

Good morning from Sfakera. We have a chilly breeze and there are lots of grey clouds around but also lots of blue sky as well. Albania is hidden behind cloud but the sun is trying to find gaps in the cloud and has just appeared. It is 13.7c at 8:30am. The sea looks to be calm.
Yesterday the clouds began to rise and thin slowly and by late morning we had some sunny intervals. These grew longer as the day went on; in fact by late afternoon it was continual sun until it set and it was very pleasant sat outside Oscars. Signs of the season starting; Oscars had 38 booked in for meals last night and 47 for the quiz after dinner. These were apparently mostly people returning to their Corfu summer homes but there were a handful of tourists booked in as well. It was the first sunset we have seen for a few days and was a lovely bright orange in colour. The early night sky was just partially cloudy and we could see the moon, a large crescent (again the first we have seen of it for over a week), as well as many stars. There remained a light wind into the night.
The maximum temperature was 20.8c and the minimum 13.8c.

Good morning from Sfakera. Today we have a sunny start and the air is still. However to the west is a bank of clouds and rumbles of thunder can be heard. We can see the Albanian coastline but white fluffy clouds start a few hundred metres up and cover the higher slopes and peaks. The sea is grey and calm. It is 14.3c at 9:30am and the sun is now being hidden.
Yesterday morning there were odd sunny intervals but always lots of high grey clouds around sometimes with whiter clouds passing below. In the afternoon the gaps in the cloud increased and the sunny intervals were longer. However it wasn't to last and by 5pm it was almost total cloud, with very dark clouds rolling over the tops of our peaks heading towards Albania. They looked very threatening even though in places we still had some sun. A 6:15pm it started to rain, light but big spots at first and a few blasts of heavier rains but all over within about quarter of an hour. It cleared a bit to the west and there were further sunny intervals during the next hour before the clouds won the day. It was cloudy to the distant in whichever direction you looked; much darker over towards Albania and over our peaks. By 9pm there was lightning all around the sky and some distant rumbles of thunder. The thunder stopped before 10pm but the lightning carries on lighting up the skies to the NE, N, NW, W, SW and S. Above we could see the moon and the stars nearby clearly. It never did bring rain here but somewhere there must have been a big storm.
The maximum temperature was 18.9c and the minimum was 13.4c.

Good morning from Sfakera. This morning it is bright and the sun is up. There is a gentle breeze and plenty white layers of cloud around mainly over the sea and Albania which can be seen today though not too clearly. The sea looks more blue and is calm.
Yesterday the sun soon broke through and the sunny intervals slowly increased as the clouds moved away. Late morning and early afternoon it was continual sun but there were large banks of fluffy dark grey clouds always moving over the Pantocrator range towards Albania. One in late afternoon built up more to the west and we had shade for nearly an hour. After a bit more sun it began to cloud over more. By 11pm we had sight of the moon and stars but also lightning around and then thunder. The thunder kept getting louder and just before midnight the rains arrived; heavy at times but all over within an hour or so.
The maximum temperature was 21.4c the minimum was 13.6c.

Good morning from Sfakera where we wake in the middle of a thunderstorm that finally eased shortly after 8am. There is some blue sky around and some whiter clouds but grey skies and grey sea dominate the vista. The air is still and there is no sign of the sun rising at present. It was just 12.7c at 9am.
Yesterday a light wind picked up and clouds began to roll in though the morning was mainly sunny. The afternoon it was just sunny intervals as the cloud cover thickened and became greyer in colour. There were a few spots of rain in the early evening but it never became a shower. As night fell we had full cloud cover and could see distant lightning again but it stayed dry here though the light wind was clearly bringing the stormy skies in our direction.
We had a maximum temperature of 18.8c and the minimum was 12.5c.
After unusually dry February and March we have had rains now on 10 days this month already including the last 8 days. The average days of rain in April is 10 so it seems this month will be wetter than usual. These rains are much needed however by the farmers and to dampen the countryside which was getting too dry too early in the year. Hopefully it will clear for Easter but the first of this years tourists are having a wet time but have also had some nice sunny days and reasonable temperatures.

Good morning from a wet Sfakera; we woke to the sound of rain which began just after 6am and it is still ongoing. It is very fine light rain and the air is almost still. High grey clouds cover the skies; there are some whiter fluffy ones below especially on the coast of Albania. As we approach 11 it is 12.5c and there are signs that it is beginning to clear.
Yesterday was a right mixed bag. The early morning thunderstorm cleared to give us a few sunny intervals and a light wind. However it began to cloud over again and became very dark and there were rumbles of thunder at 11:30am but it did not rain. It again cleared to sun, more so in to the NW, but there were always clouds over Corfu's high hills and mountains. I walked to Nymphes for the football and it was very pleasant as I wound my way up the hill. The views to the NW were of blue sky and sunshine but overhead it was very grey and the clouds were low. By the time I reached the centre of Nymphes it started to rain; large spots but just gentle and the olive trees along the road to the football pitch provided some cover. Just as I arrived at the ground so the heavens opened and it was torrential; I ran the last 100 metres and was lucky to avoid a soaking (good job I left a bit earlier than usual). Within 10 minutes the pitch was covered in surface water and the peaks of the mountains disappeared into the very dark clouds. Almost reluctantly the players slowly came out to do their warm up. Fortunately the torrential rain eased after half an hour and so the game kicked off in a light rain with puddles all over the pitch and in the goalmouths. Mid way through the game the sun started to appear and by 5:20pm the pitch was bathed in sun but many of the puddles on it remained. There were lots of clouds around still as I walked home and again the view to the NW was of blue sky and sun; there was also sun over Albania. By nightfall we could see the moon and many stars but there were a few clouds around as well. At 1:30am as I walked home from the Neon it was still starlit but the clouds were beginning to roll in from the SW.
The maximum temperature was 19.5c and the minimum was 12.5c.

Good morning from Sfakera. It is chilly but finally we have a clear, still cloudless start with the sun already up. Just 10.1c at 8:30am. The Albanian peaks not seen clearly for days have more snow on them. It is odd that the weather changes just as Jan and Steve return to Corfu. The wet ground is now starting to dry and hopefully we can start the clean up and get back to normal; I have garden paths green with fallen catkins and purple with the Judas blossom that need clearing.
Yesterday the rains finally stopped just after 11am; they were just fine drizzle for the last few hours but still the air was damp, everywhere wet and the light winds made it feel chilly. It was definitely an indoors day. In the early afternoon it cleared to some sunny intervals but the temperature didn't rise much. By 5pm it was full cloud apart from the far western horizon and it was rather dark to the SW, S, SE, E and NE. By 5:45 it started to rain, initially rather heavy and this continued until around 8pm. Amazingly it began to clear quite quickly and to the low western horizon was a band of deep yellow sky below the grey clouds as the sun had set. Just after nine the moon and stars were shining brightly above but the trees were still dripping so much water that is seemed as if it was still raining. The remaining clouds continued to clear and it was an almost starlit sky by midnight.
The maximum temperature was 16.1c and the minimum was 11.9c.

Good morning from Sfakera; a quick catch up on the weather as Jan is having some pc issues following her return to Roda.
Tuesday; we had a lovely sunny day with a gentle breeze and white fluffy clouds over the hills. As the clouds came over they just split up and melted away. A nice bright yellow sunset was followed by a star and moonlit night. The maximum temperature was 21.3C and the minimum was 9.5c.
Wednesday; again a lovely sunny day, there was a sea mist in the morning. Again we had fluffy clouds over the hills but the wind was stronger than Tuesday but only a light wind. In the shelter of it there was a real feel of 24c. The sunset was again bright yellow and the night was starlit and the almost full moon was very bright and indicated there were some high thin layers of cloud around. The maximum temperature was 20.5c the minimum was 10.2c.
Thursday; it was more of the same, a sea mist early clouds over the Albanian peaks, still air and the sun up. The wind did pick up to a light wind in the early afternoon and there were fluffy white clouds over our hills, getting large at times before breaking up and melting away. The sea was blue and calm. The bright yellow sunset was followed by a starlit night. The full moon was very clear and bright high in the sky. The maximum temperature was 22.2c, the minimum was 11.6c.
This morning we woke to a lovely light pink looking sky just as the sun was rising. It soon went light blue and there is again a sea mist. The sun rising slowly into a cloudless sky and only the hint of a breeze. The sea again look clam. It was 14c at 10am.
On these now sunny days the UV index is increasing again and is 7. If you are going to be on the beach or wearing just vest tops and shorts for more than a short time it is advisable to use sun lotion as you can burn otherwise.

Good morning from Roda. I have at last sorted the new laptop to behave, well for me to find my way around it and retrieve all my usual useful sites. It is a glorious morning here with clear blue skies barely a cloud in the sky. The sea is a lovely shade of blue, not ruffled by any wind and we have and a slight haze. We have had lovely settled weather since we came back, but we are due some rain tomorrow. Yesterday was very much the same as the previous days, feeling very hot in the sun, but cool in the shade. Yesterday it was 15°C in the shade but a scorching 40°C in full sun. With the UV at 7 you would soon burn. We missed the sunset, but we had a full moon in a clear starlit sky and a temperature of 15V at midnight.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 20th April 2019 was 13.8°C, real feel 14°C, and the humidity 69% giving a dew point of 11°C.

Good morning from Roda. I hope that everyone has lovely, peaceful and joyous Easter, here in Corfu we will be celebrating next week. We are going to Corfu Town to see the pot throwing and the processions, hopefully I will get some photos to put on here. We awoke to a very bright and warm morning despite there not being much sun. There is quite a haze with Albania only a shadow on the horizon across the flat calm sea. There is barely a breeze either, though we are expecting quite a strong southerly soon, hence the slightly warmer morning temperatures than previous days. It is cloudy and some look a bit ominous, but it has been dry so far.
Yesterday was a beautiful day with wall to wall sunshine, just a hint of a breeze, that did get stronger in the afternoon as is its habit. The sea was calm with just a small wave coming ashore, but big enough, combined with the chilly sea to stop a swim. We just collected some more sea grass for the garden and headed home. Steve is still trying to wrest a vegetable garden from the sea of buttercups we arrived back to. So saying that he has a dozen or more feta tins planted out with tomatoes, peppers and aubergines, and about the same of lettuces put into the ground. The broad beans that over wintered are laden with pods and we have had our first meal of them. The early evening was mild and bright despite a lack of a moon. A very pleasant walk back from the village before dinner.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 21st. April 2019 was 16.9°C, real feel 17°C, and the humidity 69% giving a dew point of 11°C.

The maximum humidity was 73% and the minimum 62%.
The reported UV for today is high at 8 ( Range 1- 11+). We have now reached that time of year were the sun cream has to appear, so easy to burn with this high UV.

Good afternoon from Roda. An apology at first, I haven't thanked Dave for doing the weather for me whilst I was gadding around Europe. So, a very big thank you from both Steve and me, it was so appreciated.A late report because it was our turn at the recycling centre, and very busy it was too. It is good to see first timers, mostly local Greeks. It was a calm cloudy but bright start to the day with little in the way of a breeze and a calm sea. It was still hazy with Albania being absent just about. The sun was trying hard to be seen as the morning progressed. Yesterday was a day of mostly cloudy spell with a few attempts at sunshine. The temperature was slightly higher but we didn’t feel the benefit as it was too cloudy. We had a short late afternoon shower which didn’t do more that wet the surface, the soil remained dry. It was a mild evening with just a bit of a breeze. The sea was as calm as a mill pond and at a particularly low level exposing quite a bit of beach from the Ammos grill room all the way round to the harbour. The cicadas are back and we have seen a few fireflies most nights and the frogs are singing away in the stream. The temperature at 9.00 am on Monday 22nd. April 2019 was 14.4°C, real feel 13°C, and the humidity 74% giving a dew point of 9°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 18.5°C and the minimum 13.0°C. A sunny day with a few clouds around.

Good morning from Roda. We had a very windy but warm night with shutters banging and the wind howling around the building. It was still very windy when we got up, with Albania missing on the horizon. The sea was still quite calm as most of the wind was coming in from a southerly direction. That didn’t stop it causing the knobs of the window mozzie nets on opposite sides of the building constantly banging into the glass. There are ominous looking clouds towards town which gave us a few spits and spots of rain in the wind. The sun is quite absent, but is due back tomorrow as these winds lessen, hopefully it will be good for the Easter parades at the weekend.
Yesterday was a mostly cloudy and dull day, though quite warm, even if it didn’t feel that due to the lack of the sun. What few bright spells in the morning were gone by the afternoon. We had quite a spell of drizzly rain which lasted into the evening. It was a warm evening with the temperature at 11pm. a mild 17°C.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Tuesday 23rd. April 2019 was 20.0°C, real feel 20°C, and the humidity 50% giving a dew point of 9°C.
