Good afternoon from Roda. A late report as we were on duty at the Roda recycling centre today. A very busy session, as every session seems to be these days. We are sending on average three large van loads away every week to be recycled on the mainland. Anyway, back to the weather, it was quite a promising start to the day with good visibility and calm winds. There was quite a covering of clouds but it was bright with a hint of better things to come. Albania had a cap of clouds atop its mountain peaks across a very much calmer sea than the last few days.
Yesterday we did have a nice sunny day with a scattering of clouds around. The breeze stayed gentle but cool. It felt very chilly in the shade with a shade temperature of around 16°C, but in the sun it was 20°C warmer at a pleasant 36°C! The afternoon breeze got up and whipped the waves into quite a frenzy. However, as its usual here, the wind and the waves died away in the evening to give a nice sunset and a sliver of a crescent moon. You definitely needed a coat for any evening outing though as it was a cool 15°C. The temperature at 8.30 am on Thursday 9th. May 2019 was 14.1°C. Real feel 13°C and dew point 9°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 22.1°C and the minimum 17.3°C. A day of clouds and sunshine with a thunderstorm thrown in
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 17.0°C (real feel 16°C), and the minimum was 10.7°C, a dew point of 12°C.
The maximum humidity was 73% and the minimum 64%.
The reported UV for today is 7 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice). We have now reached that time of year were the sun cream has to appear, so easy to burn with this high UV.
The maximum temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2018 was 33.0°C real feel The maximum recorded temperature ever in Corfu was 42.8°C The lowest recorded temperature was -8.8°C

Good morning from Roda. Steve has reported that there must have been a spot of two of rain overnight as there was a bit of dampness when he went down into the garden this morning. We have another overcast, but dry day, with total cloud cover, but the forecasters say it will improve from mid-day, so, fingers crossed. There is a gentle breeze and a calm sea, with Albania almost hidden from view across the channel. It is a warmer start to the morning than we have had for the last couple of days. This is lovely weather for walking and exploring this lovely island before the meadows are cut down for animal feed. It would also be a good time to go down to town and enjoy the narrow streets and lanes without baking in the high temperatures.
Yesterday was not the best of days if you were looking for sunshine. It stayed persistently cloudy with only the briefest of spells of brightness or even sunshine. It was a few degrees warmer than the previous couple of days, but people were feeling it much cooler and jackets were very much to be seen around the village. It was a mild, still cloudy, night with little wind and a calm sea with long low rollers coming ashore. The cicadas were singing and the fireflies were out and about. The days are so long that it isn’t really dark when we get back from our early evening trip into the village, so we don’t see them at their best.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday 10th. May 2019 was 14.1°C. Real feel 13°C and dew point 9°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 20.9°C and the minimum 15.2°C. A sunny day that ended with a late afternoon thunderstorm and light rain after a stunning sunset.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 19.4°C (real feel 19°C), and the minimum was 12.6°C, a dew point of 13°C.
The maximum humidity was 72% and the minimum 65%.

Yesterday had a poor start, with plenty of cloud around, and the groans from the visitors could be heard far and wide. However, by late morning the clouds were decreasing rapidly and we had a mostly sunny afternoon. It felt very hot in the sun, even I picked up a bit of pinkness with just a short spell on the beach. That UV is high and can catch people out. We missed the sunset, but the evening was quite clear with a few stars joining the waxing crescent moon. The fireflies were starting to dance as we came back from the village, but it was still a bit too light to get the full benefit. What breeze there had been had dropped and we had a calm sea. It was a mild evening with the temperature a pleasant 18°C at 11.30pm. Our visitors are now starting to take advantage of the outside tables for wining and dining.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was quite bright and promising first thing this morning, but the clouds thicken and it became very overcast. It was quite clear despite the greyness and Albania was in place across thee channel. The sea was ruffled with the slight breeze. It is mild at 17°C, but feeling cool due to the lack of sun.
Yesterday was a beautiful all day. The constant sunshine being taken advantage of by the sun worshippers. There will be a quite a few people with pink skin today. The cloudless skies during the day saw an appearance of thin high streaky clouds at the end of the afternoon, but they soon faded as sunset drew on. Which, by the way, was a fairly lowkey monochromatic affair. The evening was clear and calm with some stars and an almost half moon. The fireflies were starting to pulse as we got home and there have been reports of lovely displays later on in the night. It was a mild night with the temperature around 18°C at 11pm.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 12th. May 2019 was 17.4°C. Real feel 17°C and dew point 12°C.

Good morning from Roda. We had a night of rain and distant thunder, and it didn’t change when we got up. Albania came and went on the horizon as the rain and murk came and went with the very occasional glimpse of brightness. Mid-morning the thunder and lightning reached us and we had a torrential downpour of hail. The wind was very strong first thing, but after that clap of thunder the wind died away almost completely. As a minor point of interest, the sea is quite calm as the prevailing winds are mostly southerly. It is actually dry at this moment
Yesterday morning was very cloudy with some extremely peculiar looking clouds. The photo was taken late morning and probably shows strato cumulus lenticular clouds. A very odd-looking sky which attracted quite a few photos appearing on the internet. The rain, predicted for later on in the day started early, with mid- morning spits and spots before developing into something more permanent. We have light rain showers on and off all afternoon and into the evening, but it seemed to remain dry after 9pm, at least until almost midnight. It was very windy and cool feeling even though the temperature at mid-night was a decent 17°C. We seem to be getting the worst of the world wide climate change with this very cool spell. The temperature at 10.00 am on Monday 13th. May 2019 was 13.6°C. Real feel 13°C and dew point 10°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 22.7°C and the minimum 15.8°C. A lovely sunny day, with one or two short cloudy spells. Clearing in the evening.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 18.5°C (real feel 19°C), and the minimum was 14.1°C, a dew point of 15°C.
The maximum humidity was 76% and the minimum 69%.

Good morning from Roda. It is still a very grey morning here, but, and this is a very big but, we do have some patches of blue and the sun is making a determined effort to be seen. AND, most of all it isn’t raining. Albania is missing across the channel, and the haze is affecting our hills. The sea is choppy and more green than blue and we have quite a breeze. It is a bit cool, but the temperature is rising, unlike yesterday when it was falling!
Yesterday saw us having many long and heavy periods of rain, with accompanying thunder and some lightning. However, we did have a few periods when it was dry during the day. By the early evening the rain had all but stopped and the skies cleared enough to give a good sunset. Temperature wise, it was a bit of a topsy turvy day with the warmest temperature in the very early hours decreasing to a minimum around dawn, then only rising a couple of degrees by the afternoon. The evening was calm with only a slight breeze, a bit of haze and a still choppy sea. The temperature at 10.00 am on Tuesday 14th. May 2019. was 15.9°C real feel 16°C and dew point 13°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 23.2°C and the minimum 17.2°C. A mostly sunny day, with increasing cloud and a few spots of rain.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 17.0°C, but the mid-afternoon temperature was 15.3°C (real feel 15°C), and the minimum was 13.3°C, a dew point of 12°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. We had a beautiful dawn, seen on a brief early morning trip to the bathroom. When we did get up it was still looking lovely with mostly clear skies with some inoffensive clouds around. However, their big bad relatives saw fit to come along. So, we had a split sky, with mostly clear to the north and decidedly cloudy to the south, and these clouds interfered with the sun. Albania was back on the horizon across a lovely calm sea with the merest of waves breaking on the shore. There was a gentle but quite cool breeze adding to the chilly feel of the day out of the sun.
Yesterday wasn’t as bad as it had been forecast, which was for lots of rain. We had a mostly cloudy start to the day with some blue patches which increased as the day progressed. However, there were still spells when the clouds were threatening and started coming down our mountainsides. By the late afternoon it was quite sunny and warm, feeling humid due to the high humidity. But it had stayed dry all day, which was very much a bonus. The mix of clouds and clear patches continued into the evening, through a pleasant sunset, and into a mild and calm evening. The winers and diners were out enjoying the mild evening air under a larger than half moon. It was still 16°C at the end of the day.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Wednesday 15th. May 2019 was 15.8°C. Real feel 16°C and dew point 12°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 22.7°C and the minimum 19.3°C. It rained all day until late in the evening.

Good afternoon from Roda. Sorry about late report but had our duties at the recycling centre and then a trip to the airport to pick up my son. We had a mostly clear start to the day with a few clouds around the edges. The sea was calm and we had a gentle wind. Yesterday was mostly sunny with some cloudy spells. However, there were spits and spots of rain in the afternoon which continued into the evening with quite spell for a while. The evening was mostly dry with good clear patches and a 2/3 moon, with nice views of Albania. It was still 16°C at 11pm. The temperature at 8.30am on Thursday 16th. May 2019 was 14.2°C. Good morning from Roda. It is a glorious morning here, with clear blue skies first thing, now getting one or two pretty clouds appearing. There is a gentle breeze, the sea is calm and Albania is just slightly more than an outline. If it stays like this it is going to be lovely day for our visitors.
Yesterday, I must admit wasn’t the best. We started out, here in Roda, with plenty of sunshine, which was good as we were busy with the recycling centre. It stayed lovely as we drove down towards the airport. By the time we got near the Paleokastritsa turn off it was staring to rain. The closer we got to town the more torrential it became with the roads awash in places. By the time we got to town it at stopped and we had lovely sunshine again. Coming back it was all reversed, but, soon after getting back, we got the clouds gathering and the rest of the day was one of showers, heavy at times with periods of brief sunshine. It faired up by sunset, the clouds parted a bit to a pretty decent one, and later on glimpses of the moon in a cloudy sky. It felt chilly though and the temperature in the late evening was 16°C.
The temperature at 10.00am on Friday 17th. May 2019 was 16.0°C, with a humidity of 83%. Real feel 16°C and dew point 13°C.

Good morning from Roda. Today started off well, but high cloud is creeping in giving us some dull periods. The wind is calm, but the sea looks ruffled, and Albania is just a dark block on the horizon. It may become more detailed as the sun moves round. The good thing is that it is supposed to stay dry all day, though a rainy day is on the horizon next week. However, as with all things to do with weather here in Corfu, it may well not happen. Yesterday was a beautiful day, with constant sunshine and feeling hot when out in the sun. I think it caught quite many people out after the poor weather we had had recently. There will be a lot of pink skin seen this morning. The clouds that were spread around the edges of the sky mostly disappeared by the end of the afternoon, just leaving enough to add interest to the sunset. The evening was very clear with a full moon with a sprinkling of stars. It must have been too cool for our fireflies as we saw barely any on our late walk back from the village. The night felt cool to us, but the visitors thought it was mild with a temperature of 17°C.
The temperature at 10.00am on Saturday 18th. May 2019 was 16.9°C, with a humidity of 81%. Real feel 17°C and dew point 14°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is very windy here this morning with a fair amount of cloud around. The sun is making a determined effort to be seen, so it should still be a nice day. The sea is slightly ruffled and more green than blue, with Albania almost a solid slate coloured mass on the other side. The good point is that is is warmer than it has been lately.
Yesterday wasn’t a bad day overall, though the sun worshippers would have been disappointed. There was quite a bit of cloud around, some of it high and thin allowing nice hazy sunny spells. Which was probably a good thing judging by the amount of red sunburnt skin we were seeing. There were occasional breezy times when it felt a little cool, but it was a warm day overall. The amount of cloud around meant that the sunset was a very pretty muted display of peach coloured sky and clouds. The clouds eased a bit during the evening so that we got a good view of the full moon, lighting our way home. Aided and abetted by quite a show of fireflies. It was a milder night with the temperature a pleasant 18°C at 11pm.
The temperature at 10.00am on Sunday 19th. May 2019 was 20.8°C. Real feel 21°C and dew point 13°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 21.7°C and the minimum 16.0°C. A sunny start to the day getting increasingly cloudy, with a lightning display over Albania in the evening.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 22.1°C (real feel 22°C), and the minimum was 13.8°C, a dew point of 14°C.

Good morning from Roda. I’m afraid it is another very cloudy start to the day, and the prospects aren’t that good. Our mountain tops are hidden in a dense veil of clouds and Albania has been reduced to a cloud topped smudge. On the good side, thinking positively, it is mild, there is a gentle breeze and the sea is calm, but we are missing the warmth of the sun.
Yesterday started off very windy and stayed that way for most of the day, before finslly easing off completely to give us a flat calm evening. The sun did make a few appearances during the day, but not often enough. It was a warmer day, but failed miserably in making us aware of it. It wasn’t cold enough to stop my grandchildren from going in the pool or the sea, but they bred them tough in Scotland. Steve told me we had a few spots of rain in the late afternoon in the garden, but I didn’t get them at Theo’s. The sunset took our breatg away as we head out to meet the family, a blood red ball of the sun against a pale pink background gradually sinking behind Roda Beach Hotel. I will post a photo later, but it fails at doing it justice. Because the air was so still and the residual warmth of the day it was a very good night for fireflies, which fascinated the grandkids. It was still a pleasant 20°C at 11pm.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was a pretty good start to the day with plenty of sunshine and the clouds staying on the periphery. It is a delayed report because my children and grandchildren took me off to Aqualand for the day. It was roasting in the sun waiting for our minibus, and the morning stayed mostly good with a few clouds getting in the way of the sun.
Yesterday we had a very cloudy start to the day, but as the day wore on the clouds melted away and we ended up with it being glorious, with just a few minor cloudy spells. I missed the sunset, but the evening was very clear with lots of stars and the moon only just getting out of bed as we headed towards ours in the late evening. It felt quite chilly on our walk home and I was glad I had my cardigan with me. However the temperature at 11.30pm was a mild 18°C, as I said it felt colder.

Good afternoon from Roda. This morning was quite cloudy with few blue patches when we woke up. The wind and the sea were both calm and there was good visibility, so we had a good view of Albania. As the morning progressed the sun came out and the clouds eased. We needed shading at the FGT this morning at Skouna. It is going to be better than the forecast.
Yesterday, it seemed that it very much depended on where you were at in Corfu as to what weather you experienced. At Aqualand it was a bit of a cloudy start as a cloud seemed to be stuck over the site with blue clouds around. However, it didn’t take long for the cloud to shift and we had sunshine for the rest of our time there, but, there were thick dark clouds to the east and south, and I was wondering of the air display would happen over Corfu Town. It was lovely to see one of the fighter jets scream overhead, so the display went ahead. When our driver picked us up, he said it had been cloudy and windy in town and that Barbati had had rain. The sun followed us home and we had a lovely evening hear with a stunning sunset. The we had a mild feeling, clear starlit night, with the temperature at midnight 17°C. The shade temperature may appear on the low side but in the sun it is very hot and the skin easily burns. We saw quite a few lobsters at the water park, of the kind that are on two legs.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was a lovely start to the day with plenty of blue sky with only traces of thin high cloud. There was just a hint of a breeze and the sea looked calm, well I couldn’t hear it anyway. There was a fair amount of haze with Albania not the clearest it has been.
Yesterday, the early morning clouds which had been threatening the sun started to clear away leaving thin high insignificant ones. The timing was perfect as there was an early evening wedding at Theodoros resort and the weather was perfect. The setting looked perfect and my daughter said the table settings had been beautiful. There were so few clouds left by sunset we were treated to the world around us turning all shades of purple, fading to pink before, eventually the world turned black. The scene was further enhanced by cruise ships and a ferry gliding along the channel. It may have looked perfect with a canopy of stars and all the lights on both sides of the channel, but it felt so cold. John at the boathouse closed his doors early as the patio was deserted. The temperature felt way below the 17°C on my thermometer. Despite the cold it was a stunning evening with no wind and a flat calm reflective sea.
