Good morning from Sfakera where it is a chilly start, but the sun is rising into a cloudless sky, the air still, sea flat and the usual sea mist towards Albania. 16c at 8.15am.
Yesterday was a perfect day for mid October, glorious sunshine with a real feel of 27c, for those on the beaches getting a tan for the winter. I had a walk around Platonas and it was very tranquil, in shady areas the dew hadn't cleared but the sound of birdsong, sheep was pleasing to the ear. A lady taking 2 large goats to graze, loads of giant prickly pears covered in fruit. Bellos taverna busy with locals chatting away. Meantime down in Roda the wind was very light, the sea flat, tourists enjoying themselves, taverna and shop owners counting the days down until they close. Sunset was a very bright orangey yellow ball slipping slowly away in a creamy light yellow sky, no clouds to give a beautiful coloured sky. The half moon was visible early and joined by a blanket of stars after nightfall. The temperature started to drop but only a thin jumper or jacket was needed if out late.
The maximum temperature was 24c, the minimum was 15.8c.
A very odd press release yesterday. A map of Greece showing temperatures of 36 and 37 claiming hotter weather on way. It then said in article that some places were already 30c (68f) ! Odd, we all know that 30c is around 85f. Can we believe this article? We would need change in wind to bring warmer air to replace the chilled air from Albania and the NE. Time will tell, meantime everyone is happy with what we have, though many say we need rains for the ripening oranges and olives and the still dry ground.

Good morning from Sfakera, we have another still fresh start to the day. Much more mist around and Albania almost invisible. There are clouds, white and fluffy, to the SW but its clear to the E so the sun is rising. 16.7c at 9am.
Yesterday was similar to all the previous week, a lovely calm sunny day, the odd cloud about, massive vapour trails. Very light wind, a flat sea, again making the beach a perfect place to be. There was a lovely bright yellow sunset. Within half an hour it's dark and the moon and stars become visible getting brighter as it heads towards 10pm when away from lights you can get a perfect view of the constellations.
The maximum temperature was 24.2c (real feel 26c), the minimum was 15.3c.

Good morning from Roda. It is nice to be back here in Corfu. The weather that greeted us couldn't be bettered, clear blue skies lots of warm even hot sunshine, the gentlest of breezes, the calmest of seas ruffling at any hint of a breeze turning into watered silk, but quite a haze. The mist descended down the mountain in the late afternoon, but cleared away to give a mild moonlit, starlit night We were back! The next day, Sunday, started off well with blue skies and sunshine with a few decorative clouds loitering over Albania. Anyway they must have called all their friends as the number steadily increased, as did the breeze, until the sky was covered and it was decidedly cool in that breeze. The clouds continued to thicken and darken until the eastern sky was quite black and menacing. A thunder storm was reported over Nissaki, and rain over Kassiopi and Lutses, but we stayed dry. Gradually the clouds cleared and the wind dropped and we ended the evening with a pretty sunset , a 2/3 moon and a clear sky with stars. The waves that had stregthened during the afternoon were starting to die down as well.
This morning started off quite cloudy with the sun trying to break through. Steve reported a flash of lightning during the night in an otherwise starlit sky. It is quite cool in that breeze, a bit of a disappointment for our late season visitors who have been enjoying amazing weather and temperatures. As the morning progresses the sunny spells are getting longer. A am more than a little miffed as nearly all the forecasts for today said heavy rain with thunderstorms, so I didn't do more of my mountain of washing still to do after our trip. It just goes to prove that forecasting the weather for this island is never very accurate and probably the best way is to stick your head out of the window in the morning and see what it is doing. If only I had got my washing done it would have been out and dried by now. As the say here in Greece po po ti ne kanoume, roughly translated as oh dear what can we do!
The temperature at 10.00 am on Monday 22nd October 2018 was 19.2°C, real feel 19°C, and the humidity 71% giving a dew point of a 13°C. The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 21.6°C and the minimum 13.5°C, a lovely sunny day with a rough sea.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 22.2°C (real feel 22°C), and the minimum was 15.7°C , a dew point of 16°C. The maximum humidity was 78% and the minimum 68%.
The reported UV for today is low at 2/3 ( Range 1- 11+). Despite the low UV we have seen some of the visitors with sunburn whilst others have gained a gentle tan. UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice). The maximum temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2018 was 33.0°C real feel 35°C, on 8th June. The maximum recorded temperature ever in Corfu was 42.8°C The lowest recorded temperature was -8.8°C

good afternoon from Sfakera. Sorry all, had an accident Friday night and my tablet got a soaking......still not working. trying to dry it out, same with phone. Hope can do something or I lost all email addresses and phone numbers! Anyway will briefly catch up on weather for missing days;
Friday: a sunny day with a bank of thin clouds partially hiding the sun between 11am and 2pm before it cleared to nice sunny later afternoon and early evening. A plain sunset preceded a star and moonlit evening. Maximum 23.7c, minimum 16.2c.
Saturday: very similar to Friday but more a light wind than a breeze. The clouds were more threatening, very grey over hills, even hugging shoulders of higher ones, but no rains in Sfakera/Roda before it all cleared to sun. There was a bit cloud in west so no real sunset to see. The night was mostly star and moonlit but a few passing clouds. Maximum temperature 23.4c, minimum 16.2c.

Good morning from Roda. It is quite a pleasant grey cloudy morning in that it is calm, windless with a quiet sea. OK the visitors will be missing the sun, but it is dry and a good day for a walk or a bike ride. The humidity has dropped a bit so that Albania is a very pretty series of ridges across the channel. Our kitchen door is wide open and all we can hear is this twitterings of hundreds of little birds in and around the garden. Unfortunately it is not swimming conditions yet.
Yesterday was a much better day than forecast. It did stay grey all day, but the worst we got was some very strong winds swirling in all directions causing the sea to get a bit rough. We did have the odd spot of rain during the afternoon which increased to very light rain in the early evening. The wind, and the waves dropped away to nothing and the rain petered out completely. We got off lightly with the forecast storm compared to what Italy got with flash flooding, and severe hail storms. We did see enough bright weather, that with the wind, would have dried my washing. Never mind it is out on the line now.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Tuesday 23rd October 2018 was 17.7°C, real feel 18°C, and the humidity 66% giving a dew point of a 12°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 21.2°C and the minimum 14.8°C, a day of thunderstorms and periods of heavy rain in places with good dry spells in between.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 21.6°C (real feel 22°C), and the minimum was 15.2°C , a dew point of 14°C. The maximum humidity was 76% and the minimum 57%.
The reported UV for today is low at 2/3 ( Range 1- 11+). Despite the low UV we have seen some of the visitors with sunburn whilst others have gained a gentle tan.

Good morning from Roda. Normal service is resumed, at least it will be after the early chill has been chased away. It has already risen by 6°C from the pre-dawn low of 13C. We have blue skies with just the occasional small streak of a cloud, there is barely a breeze so it is hot when in full sun. Albania is threatening to retreat into the background across a beautiful blue sea, which does however have some waves I can see from the balcony, so maybe no swimming today.
Yesterday was a dry but mostly cloudy day. There was a few blue spots seen, but nothing to get excited about. After mid-day it did start to feel quite warm despite the clouds. Albania was quite clear across the channel as a brooding dark mass. However as the sun began to set the flanks of her mountains were highlighted with patches of sunshine and flushes of pink. The sunset was a picture of long streaks of reds, pinks and violet glimpsed behind the clouds. It was a mild night with maybe only a light jacket required as the wind had dropped away completely, and the sea was calming down. The lights of the Albanian coastal villages, plus those of a passing cruise ship were delightful. A full moon was making great attempts at shining despite still quite a heavy cloud presence.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Wednesday 24th October 2018 was 16.0°C, real feel 18°C, and the humidity 68% giving a dew point of a 11°C. The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 17.4°C and the minimum 13.4°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 22.8°C (real feel 23°C), and the minimum was 14.8°C , a dew point of 14°C. The maximum humidity was 66% and the minimum 54%.

Good afternoon from Roda. Apologies for the late report, an early morning trip into town. What a lovely drive though, you felt you could almost touch Albania and the Diapontian Islands. The sea was a deep blue well covered with white horses. The humidity was very low hence the clarity caused by the strong winds we are having at the moment. Once the other side of Trompeta the winds were not as bad. It feels cool in the shade, but when you get out of the wind and in the sun, boy is it hot. It chased me indoors! We had a funny thing happening during the night in that the temperature rose to 20.2°C before dropping to a minimum of 17.9°C at dawn, and still hasn't risen to that high.
Yesterday was a lovely sunny all day, with a few clouds of the streaky kind adding a bit of contrast. It was very windy with waves coming ashore, and the trees being blown in all directions. This wind drove the holiday makers from the beach to the more sheltered areas around their accommodation. The winds blew the haze away leaving great clarity to Admire Albania across the channel. We were treated to a full moon eclipsing what stars that were out and the lights from around the bay. It was a mild evening with the temperature around 19°C at 10.30pm.
The temperature at 8.00 am on Thursday 25th October 2018 was 18.5°C, real feel 18°C, and the humidity 58% giving a dew point of a 10°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 19.8°C and the minimum 11.7°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 20.8°C (real feel 21°C), and the minimum was 12.6°C , a dew point of 14°C. The maximum humidity was 69% and the minimum 61%.

Good morning from Roda. What a chilly start to the day, below 10°C when the alarm went off. Yes we do use one from time to time especially when we have an early doctor's appointment. We have clear blue skies, beautiful sunshine (which feels very hot), a calm sea, no wind and such clear air that Albania seems so close, as do the hills behind us. No bonfires until November 1st so everything is seen in such detail as there is still little smoke, although on an evening you can smell wood smoke as the sombas are being lit. The chimney sweeps are busy at this time of year.
Yesterday was a day of extremes. It stayed sunny and cloudless all day with a strong wind whipping up the waves until the evening when everything started to die down. However the extremes of temperatures which normally happen at dawn and soon after mid-day didn't turn out that way. The humidity was dropping like a stone at one point reaching 33%, a long way from our usual 70's. The air was so clear you could almost count the trees on the Albanian mountainsides. So our coldest temperature was reached just before midnight (between 25th and 26th)and our warmest temperature just after midnight (between 24th and 25th)! The warmest it got during the afternoon was 19°C, however out of that strong wind and in the sun it was roasting. People were sunbathing in some odd spots, behind the Dutch bungalows in front of us wedged between a pair of stairs and between two campers parked up in the DEH car park in Corfu Town. The evening was clear, much calmer with a starlit sky and a full moon. We were agreeably surprised by the number of tourists dining in the village.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday 26th October 2018 was 14.0°C, real feel 14°C, and the humidity 52% giving a dew point of 4°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 19.6°C and the minimum 11.3°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 20.2°C (real feel 20°C), and the minimum was 12.0°C , a day time dew point of 14°C. The maximum humidity was 73% and the minimum 33%.
The reported UV for today is low at 3 ( Range 1- 11+). Despite the low UV the hot sun sheltered from the wind would have caught some people out.

Good morning from Roda. What a better start to the day, much warmer. We do have quite a bit of cloud around, with it looking particularly ominous towards Ipsos, but they aren't interfering with the sun yet. There is quite a breeze blowing but at least it is a warm one. The sea looks a bit more grey than blue and has quite a choppy surface. Albania on the other side of it is fading into the haze that has returned with the higher humidity. There was supposed to be some showers this morning but maybe Ipsos has got them and not us. We have fingers crossed that the showers forecast for tomorrow don't materialise as it is OKI day, the Greek equivalent of our Remembrance Sunday. There are parades in every village, town and city in Greece. It is a big day here so we will be going into Acharavi tomorrow to watch.
Yesterday was a beautiful and warm day, there was less of a need to find shelter from the slight breeze. There was a clear blue sky until the clouds started gathering in the afternoon. The sea was flat calm so we managed to get a good swim on a near deserted beach, there was only another group of four people. The sunset was very pretty with pink edged grey clouds. The wind, such as it was, died away completely in the evening and the clouds melted to give us another lovely start lit night. It was very pleasant walking back from the village along the deserted road in the warm evening air. The Coral was very busy inside, they must be just about full until this weekend when season ends.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 27th October 2018 was 20.5°C, real feel 21°C, and the humidity 75% giving a dew point of 16°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 19.3°C and the minimum 11.1°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 22.1°C (real feel 22°C), and the minimum was 9.4°C , a dew point of 12°C. The maximum humidity was 66% and the minimum 46%.
The reported UV for today is low at 3 ( Range 1- 11+). Despite the low UV the hot sun will catch some people out.

Good morning from Roda. We have gone back to autumn today, with very windy and cloudy weather. A light drizzle has just started, which is such a pity for the parades for OXI day. Usually the school children parade in shirt sleeves, but today they will not only have these strong winds to contend with, but also the wet, such a pity as it is so important an event here. Much like I remember marching to the church on Remembrance Sunday with the Brownies and Guides in Ludlow where I grew up. The weather has closed in with both Albania and our hills disappearing into the haze.
Yesterday, by contrast, was gorgeous in the afternoon after a bit of a cloudy start. The threatened rain obviously stayed away from us. Though we had had a shower during the night which we could only yell by the dirty spots on the windscreen as the ground etc. was bone dry. The afternoon was stunning we had clear skies over use allowing the sun to blaze down. The sea was crystal clear and of such shades of blues and green. The only thing missing were the visitors otherwise it would have looked like high summer. The clouds, that had never really gone away came back to give a lovely sunset. The warm southerly wind, such as it was, died to a very gentle breeze, to give us a very mild evening with stars amongst the clouds.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 28th October 2018 was 21.6°C, real feel 22°C, and the humidity 71% giving a dew point of 17°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 18.7°C and the minimum 14.1°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 23.4°C (real feel 23°C), and the minimum was 16.5°C , a dew point of 17°C. The maximum humidity was 77% and the minimum 67%.

Good evening from Roda. The weather reports will be a bit brief for the next few days. Today has been very mild right from the start with the minimum overnight temperature only going down to 20.5°C.It was a very cloudy start to the day with very strong southerly winds, giving us a choppy sea out in the channel, but only long waves here in Roda. The general haze had reduced to give picturesque outlines for the Albanian mainland.
This afternoon stayed cloudy but did get quite bright and we have had quite a few blue patches appearing, enough to give us a very pretty peachy coloured sunset. Am hoping this weather, even if windy, continues as we are due a day of rain and thunderstorms.
The minimum temperature today was 20.2°C and the maximum 23.4°C feeling the same. The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 17.4°C and the minimum 10.9°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 22.3°C (real feel 22°C), and the minimum was 18.7°C , a dew point of 18°C. The maximum humidity was 77% and the minimum 67%.
The reported UV for today is low at 3 ( Range 1- 11+). Good afternoon from Roda, and kalo mena for the 1st of November. This is a combination report of the last couple of days. This morning was cloudy but warm with high humidity and very poor visibility. Albania was barely an outline across the fairly calm sea. We were not only hazy but this was added to by the smoke from the first official bonfires of the season. The sun is making a feeble effort to break through the ceiling of clouds, failing but is making the day quite bright. As the morning wore on the wind picked up a bit to give us some quite strong gusts.
Tuesday Tuesday started off cloudy and extremely windy and the day just got worse. We felt the earthquake that had hit Kephalonia with strength of around 5.4 on the Richter scale. It lasted so long even I was able to feel it. The clouds, mists and murk came down the mountain sides, almost completely hiding them from view. Then the promised heavy rain started and it lashed down, then we had a thunderstorm directly overhead causing my to start as it was so loud. The rain eased and the sky became a very funny colour as the sun was setting behind it. The wind and the rain eased but the lightning show in the clouds continued as the storm moved away. The day was warm and humid with very little variation in the temperature
The maximum temperature was 23°C and the minimum was 21°C.
Wednesday It felt a very humid day, despite the cool start, as the rain from the previous day tried to evaporate. It looked like the whole of the island was steamy gently with the valleys full of mists. It remained warm despite the total cloud cover and lack of sun. Albania and sometimes the hills and mountain tops were lost to the haze. The winds stayed away and the sea calmed leaving just small but long waves coming ashore. A lone swimming was spotted coming ashore by the harbour in Roda. It was a dark moonless night but still very mild for the time of year.
The maximum temperature was 23.7°C and the minimum was 14.9°C. The maximum humidity was 88% and the minimum 76% with a dew point of 19°C. The UV was forecast to be 3 despite the lack of sun.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Thursday 1st November 2018 was 21.1°C, real feel 23°C, and the humidity 87% giving a dew point of 19°C. The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 17.5°C and the minimum 9.0°C.
The reported UV for today is low at 3 ( Range 1- 11+).
UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice).

Good afternoon from Roda. A morning long power cut has meant my report is late today. It was a planned one so we were able to find our little gas ring to boil the kettle. Hot water isn't a problem as we have a solar powered system. It is a lovely morning here, it is warm and we have the sun shining out of a very hazy sky. There is no wind and the sea is flat calm. Albania has emerged enough from the mist across the channel to give us a little more detail. The haze though is being aided and abetted by the sheer number of bonfires that have been lit today. The valleys are full of smoke, and the hillsides are masked behind a floating stream of it.
Yesterday stayed cloudy for the best part of the day. It was warm, even hot, with the gusts of wind dying away completely by the afternoon. The sun did managed to shine for a full minute before being swamped by the clouds. The mild calm evening was very dark due to the lack of a moon, but there were breaks in the clouds which allowed a few stars to be seen. The haze dispersed to allow the lights from the larger villages of Albania to be seen, along with a late cruise ship heading west along the channel.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday 2nd November 2018 was 21.6°C, real feel 23°C, and the humidity 77% giving a dew point of 17°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 17.2°C and the minimum 9.2°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.3°C (real feel 26°C), and the minimum was 18.0°C , a dew point of 19°C. The maximum humidity was 89% and the minimum 72%.

Good morning from Roda. It is a beautiful morning here today. We have a pale blue sky streaked with clouds, barely a breath of wind and a flat calm sea (I feel that a swim might be possible). We still have the heat as it was 20°C for breakfast on the balcony under the shade of a parasol. Our night time temperatures are almost the same as the maximum temperatures this time last year. The haze between us and Albania has cleared leaving us beautiful views of the mountains across the channel. But, behind us it still looks very hazy as the smoke from multiple bonfires is held in layers close to the ground by the warm air above it, so we are getting varying densities of smoke drifting slowly down the mountainsides. It does look very pretty but probably not pleasant for those with breathing problems in the higher villages.
Yesterday stayed hazy and the clouds had completely covered the sky by the afternoon. The sun was reduced to a silver ball in the sky. The wind and the sea remained calm, but it did feel humid due to that high humidity. We got a faint pink blush of the clouds at sunset before moving into another dark and calm evening. The haze had lifted a bit so we could see a few lights from Albania percolating across the sea. We enjoyed a lovely walk into Acharavi along the sea front and barely met anyone. The sea was calm and crystal clear, it would have lovely for a swim.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 3rd November 2018 was 20.2°C, real feel 22°C, and the humidity 75% giving a dew point of 15°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 17.2°C and the minimum 9.9°C. A day of sunshine and clouds and a lovely sunset.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 23.8°C (real feel 26°C), and the minimum was 16.8°C , a dew point of 18°C. The maximum humidity was 82% and the minimum 69%.

Good morning from Roda. It is another lovely morning with sunshine and streaky clouds again. There air is much clearer with Albania being seen in better clarity, and our mountains are not obscured by smoke (maybe because the first rush is over and it is a Sunday). It was a very cool start to the day with our first real condensation appearing on our north facing windows. There is almost no wind and the sea is flat calm again. Staying in the village today as it Sunday.
Yesterday was pretty good all day, we had glorious sun with some cloud that lasted until the early afternoon when the cloud started gathering to give an almost complete coverage by sunset. There was just enough sky to give us a pretty sunset, apparently the sunrise had been amazing. The breeze got a for while at Almyros as did the waves, enough to prevent me going for a swim. As soon as we decided to pack up the sun reappeared from behind a big cloud, but still wouldn't have gone for a swim, I need a calm sea when it is chilly. The evening was definitely cooler and there were breaks in the clouds that let the stars shine. The sea had reverted to flat calm and the air cleared so that all the lights of Albania shone clear and bright.
