Good morning from Roda. This amazing weather continues. We have a clear blue sky with one or two clouds dotted about, a gentle breeze and a calm fairly quiet sea. Breakfast was enjoyed in the warmth of our south facing balcony and as I write this our kitchen door is wide open to let the warmth in and to air the flat as we get condensation on these cold nights.
Yesterday was lovely with just a gentle breeze for most of the day but it did get quite strong for a while whipping the waves up into white horses for as far as the eye could see and lots of waves were coming ashore. The wind blew whatever clouds had been left away to leave us at the end of the afternoon with the mountains and the sky turning pink before the sky turned orange. In the range of sunsets we have here it was standard fare. The night was dark and starlit and very clear. We could even see the lights of Saranda as we walked back from the village. The temperature was falling quite rapidly, but due to the lack of wind it didn't feel too bad. The waves were also starting to calm done. We stood for a while and just drank it all in.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 30th. December 2018 was 7.8°C, real feel 10°C, and the humidity 73% giving a dew point of 3°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 12.2°C and the minimum 7.1°C. A sunny day for the most part, cloudy at times before clearing.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 15.0°C (real feel 10°C), and the minimum was 3.5°C , a dew point of 11°C. The maximum humidity was 79% and the minimum 61%.

Good morning from Roda for the last time in 2018. The good weather has stalled. We awoke to almost 100% cloud cover with a few blue patches which looked like they were losing the battle. It was, however, bright with almost no wind and a flat calm sea. Albania is there across the channel but more of a brooding mass than the clear view we have had recently. However it is dry and the sun is making a determined effort to come out and shine. No breakfast on the balcony today, more a case of a bowl of porridge in front of the fire.
Yesterday, for the better part of the day was glorious. We had sunshine all day, but those thin streaky clouds in the early afternoon grew considerably and by the time it was dark only one or two stars could be seen. I completely missed the sunset, but it mustn't have been anything to write home about because, even if we are indoors, if it is good it catches our eye and we go outside to watch. The lack of wind made the walk to and from the village feel only chilly not cold. We still had amazing clarity and all the village lights of Albania (including Saranda) put on a show to join the lights of bay.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Monday 31st. December 2018 was 8.1°C, real feel 8°C, and the humidity 74% giving a dew point of 4°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2017 was 12.0°C and the minimum 7.0°C. A sunny day for the most part.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 12.5°C (real feel 13°C), and the minimum was 3.1°C , a dew point of 5°C. The maximum humidity was 75% and the minimum 58%.

Good afternoon from Roda. We went to Skouna in case anyone turned up for the FGT, and some friends joined us for a very pleasant coffee and light lunch. Then we had to call into the recycling centre as there had been a collection and 40 builders sacks had been left blocking the gate. Then, hot and sweaty, we headed to the beach for a swim. Such is retired life out here. This morning felt quite a bit fresher than of late, with a lower humidity and a slightly lower temperature. We had clear cloudless blue skies, a barely-there breeze and the sea just whispering as it came ashore. You could hardly hear it above the morning chorus of the cicadas. Albania was just a bit more than a series of interesting ridges as the haze had lightened a bit.
Yesterday was just perfect all day. The one or two cheeky clouds that were trying their luck in the morning had seen sense and drifted away to bother other people. The usual late afternoon breeze got up and saw white horse appear in the channel. Well, to be honest they were not that big, so maybe, we will call them white ponies. The breeze did the right thing and calmed right down for the evening. The air was so clear that it seemed that I could see every tree on the hillside opposite, almost able to count every leaf. We were blessed with another amazing sunset, with the sky turning a deep crimson behind the headland. The magical effect was enhanced by the sight of the fluttery flight of the bats over the stream catching their quotas of mossies. A fishing boat was caught in relief against that amazing sky as a Christmas tree of a cruise ship glided passed us. The evening did feel a little cooler but was still very pleasant for the evening strollers. It was 24°C at 10.30pm.
The temperature at 10.00am on Wednesday 7th. August 2019 was 24.1°C. Real feel 25°C and dew point 17°C.

The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 29.1°C and the minimum 22.4°C. A cloudy start to the day then sunny.
The reported UV for Today is 9 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice). We have now reached that time of year were the sun cream has to appear, so easy to burn with this high UV.

Good afternoon from Roda. We had another session at the recycling centre this morning, this time our own at Roda. It is hot and physical work for the most part, but we find satisfaction in doing our little bit in keeping some of the rubbish from the roadside, and knowing that it is going off the island for processing. After a quick wash and brush up we headed for our weekly meeting with friend over brunch. The heat here is stifling, though the temperature isn’t that high, with the high humidity it feels very hot and uncomfortable. So, we had a little nap with both fans going full blast.
This morning arrived with clear skies, sufficient haze to almost hide Albania, barely a breath of wind and a calm sea looking for all the world like shot silk. First thing in the morning it feels quite fresh, but as the heat builds up it quickly get oppressive.
Yesterday stayed cloudless for all the day with the wind being absent nearly all that time, only stirring itself for its usual afternoon playtime when parasols are fair game and can end up being chased down the beach. But, in this heat, the effort was too much and the end of the afternoon saw the wind nearly spent. The waves that were kicked up by the wind persisted into the evening but they were losing force all the time. This late afternoon time is when many Greek families find the time to go the beach and have a reviving splash around, and a catch up on the local gossip. Their silhouettes against the setting sun are magical. The sunset was another tapestry of colour. The first sign was the gradually change of colour of the mountains and sea s they turned pink and lilac. These then gave way to the fierce oranges that coloured the whole of the western sky. The final show after the sun had finally given up for the day and sunk beneath the horizon turned the sky flame red, gradually paling to leave only a hint as the moon took over. The clear sky was dominated by the 2/3 moon and a few bright stars and some of the more vigourous Albanian village lights. It was a very warm 27°C at 11pm.
The temperature at 8.00 am on Sunday 11th. August 2019 was 24.8C. Real feel 26°C and dew point 18°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 28.9°C (real feel 33°C), and the minimum was 22.0°C, a dew point of 24°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 30.2°C and the minimum 24.5°C. A sunny day with a cloudy spell before clearing.
