I thought it was because it 's Friday the 13th One of the good things about being out here is that you don't know what day it is, except the first of the month. I may type the date but it barely registers. If I had taken notice I would maybe not have stressed as much as I did trying to get help from Ryanair. It seems that Steve uses Safari on his Mac and this is incompatible with Ryanair's website, and hence I could not print my daughter's boarding passes. I had a very frustrating couple of hours in queues trying to get sensible help. It was only mentioned at the end about Safari! Jan

Yesterday wasn't too bad, we had lots of sunshine in the morning then the clouds built up to the south of us. It stayed breezy all day, but the skies cleared and we ended up with wall to wall sunshine. Lovely in a sunny sheltered spot. The visibility vastly improved, and the breeze died away to give a very pleasant evening. Lack of cloud resulted in an indifferent sunset.
The readings at 10 am on Sunday 15th. May 2016 are:- Temperature 20.8°C and humidity 67%
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 23.4°C and the minimum was 15.3°C The maximum humidity was 74% and the minimum 44%
The reported UV for today is 6 ( Range 1- 11+). It is hot in the sun, take care and apply that sunscreen and seek shade around noon. UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice).

Good morning from Roda. We have cloudy overcast skies with only the occasional patch of blue. It is mild, with little wind, calm seas and poor visibility. Albania has disappeared from the horizon. It holds the promise that it could get better, so we will keep fingers crossed. I had a quick look at other holiday destinations around the western Mediterranean sea and they too are not having great temperatures, with the average around 22°C, which is what we have here. The beginning of May is always a bit variable, it could be cool and wet or blazing hot, sometimes both in one week. I feel sorry for those holiday makers who were totally unprepared for the poor weather. No coats and only thin summer clothes to wear. Early and late season can be cool and wet and people need to appreciate this and be prepared. However Corfu and Roda are lovely always. As I am typing this the sun has just come out and we are back in business!
Yesterday got worse, after the cloudy start, to give us a couple of hours, around midday, of showers. Some of which were a bit heavy at times. But the skies started clearing during the afternoon, helped, I suppose, by the breeze, and by tea time the skies had cleared completely, the sun came out, and the breeze had dropped away altogether. We had a lovely dry mild evening, no great sunset though.
The readings at 10 am on Monday 16th. May 2016 are:- Temperature 19.6°C and humidity 73%
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 22.0°C and the minimum was 14.7°C The maximum humidity was 75% and the minimum 60%
The reported UV for today is 7 ( Range 1- 11+).

We have lovely blue skies, sunshine, a few clouds dotted around, a lack of wind and pretty good visibility. Albania has returned with lovely views of her mountains and valleys. A stately cruise ship is slowly making her way passed on a flat calm sea as I checked the conditions. Looks like it will be another lovely day, though one of the sites I check predicts some rain later, but it doesn't look likely from what I can see.
Yesterday, after the breezy start, got progressively better. We had a lovely sunny afternoon with a few clouds and the breeze gradually subsiding to give us a calm mild evening with an almost clear sky. Again the sunset was a non- event, but the nighttime sky was beautiful with all the stars.
The readings at 10 am on Tuesday 17th. May 2016 are:- Temperature 18.9°C and humidity 72%
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 20.8°C and the minimum was 15.6°C The maximum humidity was 73% and the minimum 56%

Good morning from Roda. We have lovely blue skies, sunshine, a few clouds dotted around, a lack of wind and pretty good visibility. Albania has returned with lovely views of her mountains and valleys. OK that was the start of yesterday's report but it is the same today, but actually better. There are a few clouds topping those mountains and the visibility here of our mountains is not the best, but oh ,what a lovely day! The sea is a rich blue colour and I can hear the waves washing onto the shore over the bird. There is still a little coolness in the air. We are a bit cooler than last year, but it is probably just seasonal variation.
Yesterday was a good day, sunny and warm. It was breezy for the most part, but if you were in a sheltered spot it would be very warm in deed. The breeze died down towards evening, with the clouds thinning to high wispy threads. As the evening progressed the clouds did thicken a bit, but we still failed to get a great sunset, getting instead pretty pastels of pink and lilac.
I have added a new feature where I will put last year's maximum and minimum temperature down for the same day last year. There will be the occasional gap, but I hope it be useful and informative.
The readings at 10 am on Wednesday 18th. May 2016 are:- Temperature 18.4°C and humidity 71%
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 19.9°C and the minimum was 13.7°C The maximum humidity was 77% and the minimum 58%
18th. May 2015 Maximum temperature 24.6°C, minimum 16.2°C
The reported UV for today is 8 ( Range 1- 11+). It is hot in the sun, take care and apply that sunscreen and seek shade around noon.

Good morning from Roda. What a difference a day makes! Today we have a clear, bright but overcast day. There is almost 100% cloud cover and hardly any wind. There are some low level clouds filling the valleys of Albania across the now very calm sea. The general visibility is good. There is some rain forecast for today.
Yesterday was an almost perfect today for this time of year. OK it is a bit cooler and it was very breezy, especially near the beach, but we had wall to wall blues skies and sunshine all day. The breeze got up so much in the afternoon it whipped the sea into white horses, but oh so pretty with the contrast of the blues and the white tipped waves. Too rough for a swim at Almyros, but not at Roda. We had a very pretty sunset with the palms silhouetted against every changing colours of orange fading to pinks and lilacs. The waxing gibbous moon shone in a clear blue sky before that sunset. Then we had a lovely starlit night and fireflies (though not as many as usual).
The readings at 10 am on Thursday 19th. May 2016 are:- Temperature 18.6°C and humidity 65%
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 20.1°C and the minimum was 13.5°C The maximum humidity was 71% and the minimum 56%
19th. May 2015 Maximum temperature 25.0°C, minimum 17.0°C
The reported UV for today is 5 ( Range 1- 11+). It is hot in the sun, take care and apply that sunscreen and seek shade around noon.

Good morning from Roda. It is not a great morning here in Roda. It is raining as I type, and has done through the night, as Steve reports the ground to be too wet for digging. I feel sorry for our visitors as it is cold and wet, dreich as they say in Scotland, There is little wind, the sea is calm and the visibility very poor, Albania is just a smudge on the horizon. Apparently we are set for a couple of days of this. It is supposed to improve by Sunday, when the sun returns.
Yesterday stayed overcast all day with some slight showers early afternoon. I think that the villages around us may have had more in the way of rain. It did brighten up a bit for the evening and the showers eased off. But you could see heavy rain towards the tip of Albania and Italy. There was a strange orange light there as the day ended. This is unseasonably cold.
The readings at 10 am on Friday 20th. May 2016 are:- Temperature 17.1°C and humidity 73%
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 20.6°C and the minimum was 13.0°C The maximum humidity was 72% and the minimum 62%
20th. May 2015 Maximum temperature 23.8°C, minimum 15.7°C
The reported UV for today is 4 ( Range 1- 11+). It is hot in the sun, take care and apply that sunscreen and seek shade around noon. Ignore for next few days! UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice).

When we 1st came to Roda in 2014 we were told by Irene at the Pegasus that there had been a lot of rain June and July that year. Hence how lush their greenery was.

Good morning from Roda. The storm of last night has passed over and we have a calm but grey and overcast day. The visibility is pretty good, Albania across the steel grey sea still has some valleys with fog in them.
We had rain all day yesterday, ranging from quite light to hard driving rain battering our windows. The cloud base got progressively lower until, I suspect, even Pete's house was enveloped. At around 9.30pm we had a cracking thunder storm with amazing lightening, and it was still going when we went to bed near midnight. If that wasn't enough we had an earthquake tremor at 10.50pm. It was based 30miles to the north of us just off the Albanian coast. There are reports of the streets of Sidari being more like the canals of Venice. I have added two photos from our balcony (the normal view and yesterday evening) just to illustrate how it was yesterday. Not great weather for the visitors but still quite amazing to see the low clouds and the thunder storm. It is forecast for sunshine and heat tomorrow.
The readings at 10 am on Saturday 21st. May 2016 are:- Temperature 16.7°C and humidity 93%
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 17.9°C and the minimum was 14.0°C The maximum humidity was 90% and the minimum 68%

Good morning from Roda. Normal service has resumed weather wise. We have a clear blue sky, a few small clouds daring to be on the horizon, barely a breeze and most of all it is warm! The visibility is tremendous with Albania and our countryside startlingly clear. The sea looks calm and very blue, but I can hear waves hitting the shore. The temperature today is supposed to get to 24°C, I hope those people trying to catch up on their tans take care today, it will be so easy to get burnt today.
Yesterday stared off un-promisingly with those grey clouds and low temperatures. It even drizzled around mid-day. However the afternoon got increasingly brighter with the sun making a desperate attempt to break through the clouds. It succeeded at times, finally making a complete breakthrough by late afternoon to give a lovely end to the day. There were still clouds around, so we had the most glorious sunset that we have seen for a while.
The readings at 10 am on Sunday 22nd. May 2016 are:- Temperature 19.5°C and humidity 77%

Good morning from Roda. The halcyon weather continues with blue skies, with only a light fringe of cloud clinging to the mountains of Albania. There is no breeze to speak of and the visibility is great. In short it is already a warm calm day with great prospects.
Yesterday continued lovely all day. Though, to be truthful, whilst it felt very hot in the sun, but if you were in the shade it was quite cool. The slight breeze didn't help either. There was a bit of a build up of clouds of the pretty white fluffy variety, but they never interfered with the sun. The background warmth increased during the day to make even the shade pleasant. At 7.30pm it was still 22°C in the shade but in the sun it had reached 29°C! During the day the reported UV went up to a very high 8. By 11pm it was still 19°C. There was a full moon and the fireflies were dancing in the fields around our house. Sorry can't report on the sunset as we were enjoying a lovely meal at Sfakera. The waves increased during the day to crash even louder on the shore.
The readings at 10 am on Monday 23rd. May 2016 are:- Temperature 19.7°C and humidity 74%
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 22.6°C and the minimum was 13.6°C The maximum humidity was 80% and the minimum 57%
23rd. May 2015 Maximum temperature 22.5°C, minimum 17.4°C

Good morning from Roda. It is not as good a morning as yesterday, but there is really nothing to complain about. We have blue skies overhead, sunshine and a cooling breeze. There are lumpy clouds almost hiding the mountains of Albania, and to the south of us over the Corfiot mountains there is thin high cloud. The sea is ruffled looking and the visibility is not as clear as yesterday.
Yesterday was gorgeous all day, there was a slight breeze tempering the heat, and the visibility was great. It almost looked like Albania was within touching distance. The shade temperature reached nearly 25°C . The clouds behaved themselves, we did get a few thin high ones developing in the afternoon, but they saw sense and just melted away. Albania kept its cap of clouds all day. The sea was like a millpond, so we enjoyed the first long swims of the year. The evening was calm and mild with a pretty sunset of pinks and lilacs. It was still 19°C at 11pm.
Added a photo of the spring flowers taken in April as so many visitors don't see them.
The readings at 10 am on Tuesday 24th. May 2016 are:- Temperature 20.2°C and humidity 61%
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 24.7°C and the minimum was 14.2°C The maximum humidity was 77% and the minimum 51%
24th. May 2015 Maximum temperature 22.8°C, minimum 16.2°C
