I parked the car by Theodoros Resort to get some bread from Angelina's shop. This is waht I drove my car into. A mix of wild convululus and hibiscus, but stunning.

I had to go pay my car tax yesterday at the post office in Acharavi. I was delighted to spot this hibiscus in full flower on 4th December!
As a note of interest all car/vehicle tax is due by the end of December, no exceptions. You can pay from the 1st of November to 31st December.

It was lovely when I went into Kazziannis supermarket and there was a little girl clutching a pretty bunch of mimosa. Then this morning Linda Baddock posted this lovely photo of her mimosa tree in all its golden glory. Spring is definitley on its way, with the fields filling up with tiny cream narcissus and the meadows with the small blue wild irises. We do have three varieties here, to include the green and the black as well as the blue.

Driving back from town yesterday there was a definite air of spring with so many flowers starting to appear. The almond blossom is so delicate and pretty, and the mimosa such a vibrant yellow. There were anemonaes blooming in the olive groves joining the blue swathes of irises. The osteospernum are opening their daisy like flowers wherever the sun catches them. The smaller flowers of daisy, allysum, and marigolds are filling the verges. The yellow wineter jasmine is starting with the flowers rivelling the yellow of the lovely but so invasive sorrel. I have sparrows starting to nest in the eaves above my balcony. Need only to see baby lambs and goats now.

Today's walk on Magoulades ridge took us mostly through olive groves. It was so peaceful with a complete absence of human sounds. The road was lined with lovely clumps of blue irises, and we saw anemones and sweet smelling violets on a very mossy bank. We just savoured the peace and quiet with hardly any cars passing us. We drove down to Arillas where it was quite breezy with waves coming over the jetty, but found a cafe open on the beach road to enjoy a coffee and a breakfast roll.

I walked into the village today, the side of the track was a picture with all the small wild flowers.
An overgrown but very pretty garden near Theodoros.

Whilst not exactly wildlife, the feral cats are very much a part of life here. There are very active charity groups that trap and sterilise them, but also they are setting up feeding stations in some of the villages. Both activities are very much ongoing projects.
The feeding station for the Roda carpark cats, being tested out.

The Judas tree by the bridge at the carpark (sometimes known as the stinky bridge) has been so lovely this year after many poor years. There are several reasons why it is called the Judas tree. The one I know is that Judas hung himslef from it in remorse for betraying Jesus, and the tree has blood coloured sap as a result. Neverless it is a very pretty tree turn some off our wood flushed with pink at thia time of year.
The other picture is just of some very pretty little flowers I saw on the roadside.

The large aloe in the garden has sent up and enormous flower shoot which must be over 3 meters and growing, sadly it does mean that the plant will die once the flowers have bloomed.
Elsewhere in the garden, that hasn't been strimmed so far this year we have a riot of purple orchids, so pretty.
