Our back garden and nearby fields is full of these beautiful wild narcissi. They only grow wild in the Ionian islands, and have a lovely scent when picked, but they look so beautiful in the wild.
Hi Trevor, thank you for your lovely comments about my winter photos around the village. I cannot explain why you cannot see the photo of the narcissi, as I have checked on my laptop and both my phones and it is there. There are so prolific at this time of year. Due to my lack of transport at the moment I haven't been able to show the beautiful wild irises in the olive groves. In sheltered corners we still have bougainvillea in flower as well as shrimp plants, and the Australian bottlebrush. The frost we have this morning, the first of the year for me will kill off the roses that have stayed in bloom until now.

I found this single anemone growing against the wall on the way to the crossroads. Such a pretty patch of colour.

The white stones that border our garden are being colonized by these beautiful daisy-like camomile plants. The verges are awash with them, and I know the cliff tops at Almyros will be white with them.

A few photos of wild flowers taken around the village on my walks in the last couple od days. The only one I know the name of is the asphodel, the first photo. The rest are unknown but just so delightful.

During yesterday afternoon's walk around the village I saw my first terrapin of the season making a hasty retreat into the ditch as I went passed. The wild flowers are getting into their stride and I snapped this lovely bunch of Asphodels and a few widow irises.

I enjoyed quite a long walk around the village yesterday as the weather so so nice. Several hedges had this lovely shrub growing amongst the myrtle etc. It was just so beautiful with its buttercup yellow flowers. Must find out what it is called. There are so many plants springing into life. I have never seen so many asphodels, they are just everywhere on the roadside. There are anemones, osteospermum, grape hyacinths, irises, wild marigolds and camomile galore.

The Honesty is in full flower everywhere as it grows wild here. Here is a clump growing beside the road by Theodoros resort.

I have since found that this is winter jasmine, so pretty and there is so much around at the moment.

Spring is well and truly sprung with the birds busy courting and the air is full of birdsong. I snapped this congregation of unknown birds in the tree behind Ammos Grill. though I suspect that they are hooded crows.

A couple of snaps taken during my recent walks. The irises were in a lovely garden on the beach road in Acharavi and the stand of Asphodels was on the link road joining the main road to Corfu with the road to Sidari just outside the village. The freesias are ones that Steve planted and we never really saw flowering as nearly always away.

A few shots taken on my walk yesterday afternoon. The first two were taken on my way back from the cemetery but the tiny irises were growing around a lamppost outside the Silver Beach Hotel.

I enjoyed two walks around the village yesterday, enjoying all the pretty flowers around at the moment. The white jasmine is just starting to flower, there is purple honesty everywhere, turning the banks of the stream by Theos into a picture. The arum lilies were in Evangalitsa's garden at the end of my lane. She runs the Marilee apartments and is well known for her numerous cats.

A few photos of the lovely flowers around the village at the moment. Plus one of a few shy terrapin hiding in the plants along the ditch close to home.

It is lovely to have our bird summer visitors back playing daredevil with the cars as they chase insects over the hot road surfaces. They have been back for a week or more but last night was the first time I noticed them taking their evening bath in the pool at Semeli, then drying themselves on the wires across our garden. The flowers continue to be amazing, but we will loose many of them as the strimming season is kicking in.
A couple of photos from my walk yesterday. Blossom from Nino's garden and Hottentot figs flowers from The Boathouse.
