That was just the 1 new case on the Island yesterday.........there is a general big increase in Greece but mostly linked to migrant camps; guests at a wedding and a baptism; a food processing plant and a few other hotspots. Of the 124 cases yesterday 24 were arriving tourists which is worrying and they will move around much more.
WHile you cannot stand at bar; must be seated and served..........that rule was brought in to stop the beach bars running discos and having big crowds not social distancing.....there are just a few other changes.....masks to all indoor places and outside if you cannot social distance. The Prime Minister has said due to economy a 2nd lockdown will be a last resort situation.

news says 3 cases on Corfu yesterday (thurs) It is quite frustrating that they don't put in more detail on their reports. Xanthi, the hairdresser in Roda had to put out a disclaimer after rumours were circulating that a case of Covid was associated with her salon. I was there a few weeks ago and the only person in the salon, she had clear marked work areas and both she and Niki wore gloves and masks and all the equipment was obviously being sterilised between clients. I suppose businesses can be badly affected by unfounded rumours.

Record number of cases in day in Greece yesterday at 203. These are mostly confined to hotspots but there are at least 40 cases recorded on Corfu now so the message is be aware.........stay away from crowded bars; beach disco bars, nightclubs.......wear a mask when mandatory and at other times if you feel you are losing your social distances.

Yes and from tomorrow there are changes..........bars, tavernas, restaurants etc must close at midnight..............in fact a curfew until 7am. This will annoy footie watching Brits as games ko 10pm here........so if go to extra time/penalties will miss all that due to curfew. And really does closing bars at midnight stop spread of virus when they open all day?...............its a reaction rather than a result imo but they will enforce fines here so we have to accept it.
Other changes.........no live performances that involve any participant standing.......so Drunken Sailor can only have music if singer sits and so do customers....
Here we follow the rules and did during lockdown which was harsh on us as no cases on Island then.......now we will expect our visitors to do likewise. Will they ?

I think the true Corfu lovers and especially the Roda stalwarts will do, it definitely is the bar visitor’s especially the younger ones who have flouted the rules here and caused further tightening of the covid measures here and word from Kassiopi is that the extra measures there are more to stop the Greek youths from partying all night. Some tourists think that during their short holidays they can also play wild and selfishly cause further issues for you all unfortunately. We will certainly follow all rules and I am now in training as I don’t wear a mask here due to my epilepsy and the mask makes me panic so much it puts me at risk of a ‘blip’ as we call it . But I am determined to overcome this even making my own mask that I can cope with if needed as I fully intend to follow every rule to keep us all safe . I have less than three weeks to get used to it but I will do it if it kills me . Not literally hopefully. Looking forward to being in Roda 29th ,can’t wait.

The longest you need wear the mask is from entering airport until exiting airport at Corfu.........then again needed if transfer by taxi or bus. Otherwise when here only needed on in shops and inside places; in taxis and on buses. Not need in tavernas especially if you sit outside or in open parts. It is recommended to wear if you feel you cannot social distance safely.......I hope you can cope with the travel time and mask......once here you can holiday in a way you will rarely need to wear the mask.

That’s great news Dave , I just have to prepare for the flight , I’m going to try one of the breathable bamboo ones which get good reviews as lightweight and recommended for people with breathing issues if not I’ll hope my exemption card will suffice . I would rather get past the issues and triumph so I will persevere

I hope so; but be prepared for the Greeks not to accept your exemption card.
Another record number of new cases in Greece yesterday with 262.......just 1 was on Corfu. they again tightened some travel restrictions and need for tests in previous 72 hours before arrive. These apply up to 31st August .....but none involved travellers from UK who still must complete the PLF before they travel and get a reply to show at the airport.

It seems the Police are trying to keep on top of the new midnight shutdown and crowding in bars........
According to the Ionian Islands Regional Police, in the early hours of Wednesday morning two businesses were found to be in violation of the new measure for closing time.
They were fined €10,000 and their businesses closed down for three day.
In addition to this, following police checks on catering establishments in Corfu, Paxos and Zakynthos yesterday, 6 people were arrested for violating the measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
There were 2 violations in Corfu, 1 in Paros and 1 in Zakynthos regarding the number of customers allowed per square metre.
Fines were imposed totalling €18,000 and their businesses were temporarily closed for 15 days.
The charges will be forwarded to the relevant Prosecutors.
