Good morning from Roda. We have another glorious, but cold, start to the day with clear blue skies except for a few wispy clouds to south and west. The snow topped peaks of Albania are lovely and clear across the calm blue seas of the channel. There is just about a breath of wind, but it is barely stirring anything. We enjoyed breakfast sunning our selves on the balcony. There are now ten people in the four apartments here and we are the only ones who ever go out and enjoy our meals or a read on the balcony in the sun. After all it is around 20°C out there in the sun at the moment.
I should have kept my mouth shut yesterday, going on about the sun and enjoying the heat as we had breakfast. Well, but the early afternoon it at clouded over and we had quite a heavy shower of rain. It then stayed dry, but cloudy over us whilst Albania, where the rain clouds had come from, bathed in the sunshine. The clouds did start clearing away by the late afternoon and the haze went to reveal Albania with fresh snow topped peaks. By the time it came for the sun to set we had no clouds at all any where near us. There was a bank far to the west towards Italy, but that didn’t count. The sun set in a wash of orange against a blue grey sky, stunning. The evening was clear for a waxing crescent moon to do its bit with quite a gathering of stars. It felt quite cool with the temperature at 10.30pm 11°C.
The temperature at 10.00am on Friday 31st. January was 8.7°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 15.5°C, and the minimum was 10.5°C.
The maximum temperature this day in 2019 was 11.9°C and the minimum 7.0°C. The heavy overnight rain persisted all morning, gradually clearing during the afternoon. Some of the rain was quite sleety. Clouds mostly gone by the end of the afternoon.

Good morning from Roda, and Kalo Mena for February. We have another glorious, but cold, start to the day with clear blue skies except for one or two clouds lurking over the mainland. We were enjoying our breakfast and a quick read on the balcony when clouds started to materialise and hide the sun from us. It was annoying because we could see Karousades still basking in sunshine. So, I think this morning will be one of sunshine and clouds, which is supposed to clear up in the afternoon. It is still chilly in the shade but nice and toasty in the full sun. The mainland is lovely and clear across the very calm sea and there is only a light breeze.
Yesterday started off well with mostly clear skies and wall-to-wall sunshine, but the clouds built up around midday to make it feel quite chilly. There wasn’t much of a breeze to send them on their way, but they did manage to mostly disappear by the time the sun was due to set. So, we had the standard monochrome orange glow in the western sky. The evening felt chilly despite the lack of any wind. We now have an almost complete half-moon in the sky with quite a good compliment of stars. There were also plenty of mainland village lights to be seen across the very calm sea. On our walk back from the village we heard our first scops owl of the year, a few days later than the one from last year. It was a very chilly 8°C at midnight.
The temperature at 10.00am on Saturday 1st. February was 10.5°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 14.4°C, and the minimum was 4.8°C.
The maximum temperature this day in 2019 was 14.2°C and the minimum 5.7°C. A grey start to the day then drizzle before heavy rain then stopping by the end of evening.

Good afternoon from Roda. Sunday is settling into a pleasant habit of a bite of toast and a quick read on the balcony before heading up to Tropicana for a mid- morning cappuccino and then taking a stroll through the village. The Tropicana seems to be the place where many villagers gather for a coffee to put the world to right, apart from the constant stream of children’s birthday parties to the rear. On our walk back we stopped to have a catch up with Nikos at Yummies and got a guided tour of the work he is doing on the café. Back to the weather. There were a lot of clouds around first thing with some patches of blue and the occasional spell of warm sunshine. Albania was missing from the horizon across the still calm sea. There was no breeze to ruffle the surface. We managed breakfast on the balcony but it was getting progressively cloudier, and in the end chased us in.
Yesterday was mostly a very nice sunny day with only a gentle breeze. In the sun, enjoying our lunch on the balcony, it was reading 24°C, very nice. It did get a bit cloudier as the afternoon progressed and we had some cloudy spells. However, an increase in the afternoon breeze saw the clouds off and we ended up with a clear sky for the sunset to do its thing. And it rewarded us with a lovely band of orange fire on a pale grey sky. The evening saw the wind die away and the half moon reigning amidst the stars in the clear night sky. The sea barely had the energy to form a ripple to reflect the lights from the mainland and around the bay. The night had a chilly feel to it and was a cool 10°C at midnight.
The temperature at 10.00am on Sunday 2nd. February was 12.1°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 15.3°C, and the minimum was 6.0°C.

Good morning from Roda. Here is a brief report that should have been done yesterday.
Sunday afternoon stayed grey for us; however, the mainland saw some sun just before sunset with a few clear patches of sky. By then we had a gap in the clouds that gave a feeble but quite pretty attempt at a sunset. It was a most calm evening with a few gaps in the clouds to see the moon and some stars. It was a cold 9°C at midnight.
Sunday's maximum temperature was 14.8°C, and the minimum was 8.8°C.
Yesterday was a very good day with it being mostly sunny, with only a few episodes where the clouds got in the way. It was a soft sort of day with the light and colours more like those of watercolours, with soft blues and greys. The were rather more clouds around the time of the sunset which gave a very pretty one. The clouds dispersed to give a clear moon lit night with a good scattering of stars. The evening brought a complete lack of wind and the sea too lazy to do anything. It was a cool 10°C at 11pm.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 15.8°C, and the minimum was 7.7°C.
The maximum temperature for 3rd. February in 2019 was 18.5°C and the minimum 17.2°C. A very windy and cloudy day with drizzle later on.
Today, we have a cloudy morning here with some periods of sunshine. There is quite a bit of haze around, but we can still see the mainland across the still calm sea. The breeze is a bit stronger than yesterday but still warm enough to have breakfast on the balcony. The thermometer sat on the table was reading 23°C.
The temperature at 10.00am on Tuesday 4th. February was 11.7°C.
The maximum temperature for this day in 2019 was 20.0°C and the minimum 13.1°C. A cloudy start with no wind ending up with good long sunny spells.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice).

Good morning from Roda. It was a very wild and windy night with the sea being whipped up into a boiling cauldron of waves crashing onto the shore. The wind was rattling the shutters and sending anything not tied down flying. The rain that was forecast to accompany the high winds failed to materialise. So, this morning we have great visibility with the mainland back in its place across the channel, with a fine cap of billowing white clouds. There does appear to be some fresh snow on some of the high peaks again. Generally, though the sky is fairly clear of clouds with just a few scattered ones adding to the picture. It was too windy to have breakfast on the balcony, too much wind to counteract the warmth of the sun. The sun lost.
Yesterday, after a decent sunny start and quite warm at times, giving us the latest hottest day of the year in the early afternoon. Then the clouds starting gathering until we had total cover. Some of them were so low they were playing hide and seek with our mountain tops! The evening saw the clouds clearing just leaving some lumpy looking ones to the south of us. We were, therefore, left with good sized clear patches for the moon and stars to do their thing. It was very mild with a late evening temperature of 15°C.
The temperature at 10.00am on Wednesday 5th. February was 10.0°C. Yesterday's maximum temperature was 16.6°C and the minimum was 7.7°C.
The maximum temperature for this day in 2019 was 18.8°C and the minimum 9.9°C. A hazy but warm day clearing in the evening.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was another very windy and cold night, though, maybe not as windy as the night before. We had complete cloud cover, but quite bright with the sun making its presence felt even if you couldn’t see it. The wind had cleared the air and there was a lot of fresh snow on the mountain peaks opposite. The sea was still very rough, as it has been around much of Greece with many ferries being cancelled with winds up to 9 on the Beaufort scale.
Yesterday was just one cloudy and extremely windy day. During our walk along the front in Roda we watched the storms across on the mainland. Probably rain on the lower slopes but definitely snow on the upper ones. In fact, mainland Greece has seen many inches of snow falling with several inches lying even on the roads. The sea was so rough that waves were coming over the harbour wall, and even over the road by the Coral hotel and Sam’s boats. On our walk into the village in the evening we had to keep well away from the sea to avoid the waves crashing over and the spray. We decided to walk back past the Elizabeth to avoid the waves and get some shelter from the wind. It was a very cold day, especially in the wind, even though it did reach 15°C in the early afternoon. For the most part of the day the thermometer was stuck at around 10°C, even late into the evening.
The photo was taken mid-afternoon of the waves breaking over the harbour wall.
The temperature at 10.00am on Thursday 6th. February was 10.0°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 14.9°C and the minimum was 10.0°C.
The maximum temperature for this day in 2019 was 16.9°C and the minimum 9.4°C. A cloudy start to the day slowly clearing to give a clear evening, blustery winds and a wild sea.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice).

Good morning from Roda. It is a lovely sunny morning here with deep blue sky and these strange lenticular clouds.
The strong winds have died down, but there is still quite a cooling breeze. Even though the temperature is low it was warm enough for breakfast on the balcony. With the wind easing so have the waves. There are still quite big ones coming ashore but nowhere near as wild as the ones in the last couple of days.
Yesterday started off with a complete cloud cover, raging seas and gale force winds. The clouds started melting away by mid-afternoon to leave only a few stragglers by the time the sun went to bed. The winds though didn’t take the hint and were still very strong, though they had eased a bit. We still took the back-way home to avoid the sea front. The waves too were starting to die down, giving us lovely sights of deep green/blue waves with creamy tops when the sun did manage to escape the clouds. As the sun started its journey towards the horizon the world turned pink, with the snows on the mainland being particularly highlighted. The residual clouds all around us gleamed pink in unison. Then the sun set in a band of fiery orange sky. The night sky was clear for the almost full moon and the stars to shine, and the lights of the mainland joined in the party. It was a cold 9°C in that strong wind at 11pm.
The temperature at 10.00am on Friday 7th. February was 10.0°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 11.3°C, and the minimum 8.8°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was a very clear and frosty night with the dawn temperature around 2°C. There was still a breeze, but the sea was very calm and the mainland was very clear. There was wall to wall sunshine feeling very pleasant in it. Some of the snow is starting to disappear from the peaks. Snow is continuing to cause problems on the east of Greece even down to Athens, with heavy snow and low temperatures. Corfu council have opened a heated shelter for those struggling in the cold.
Yesterday was bright and sunny all day, very pleasant to sit in a sheltered spot. The stiff wind was easing until it went altogether in the mid evening. The sea by now was very much calmer. There were a few light clouds to the west over the sea that added an extra element to the glorious monochromatic orange sunset. Some thin clouds drifted in in the evening and hid most of the stars only allowing the brighter ones and the almost full moon to shine. It was very chilly though with the late evening temperature around 7°C.
The temperature at 10.00am on Saturday 8th. February was 7.6°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 11.39°C and the minimum was 2.6 °C.

Good afternoon from Roda. We had our usual stroll up to the Tropicana to have a cappuccino this morning, and then walked back through the village. We stopped and had a quick chat with Niki and Niko from the Dolphin. It was good to see Niko up and about and enjoying the winter sunshine. We had a slight frost first thing, but that soon melted away once the sun got its nose above the hills. The sun did not have it its own way as there was quite a scattering of clouds around and a slight haze. The sea was lovely and calm and there was barely a breath of wind. Despite the sun disappearing behind clouds every now and then we enjoyed breakfast on the balcony, and it was pleasantly mild for our walk. The photos are of some of the lovely flowers on our lane taken today.
Yesterday started off well with almost clear skies, but the clouds gradually increased in the afternoon bringing a chill with them. There was a strengthening breeze which, though it felt colder did chase many of the clouds away, leaving just enough to give a majestic sunset. The clouds then mostly cleared to give a stage for the moon and the brighter stars to perform. The sea by this time was flat calm with barely enough strength to make a ripple. The breeze had almost died away. It was a chilly 8°C at 11pm.
The temperature at 10.00am on Sunday 8th. February was 7.6°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 13.4°C and the minimum was 1.7 °C.

Good morning from Roda. It was fairly cloudy here this morning with the sun seeming determined to shine on the mainland and not here. There is a general haze that is limiting the distance you can see, with the mainland veiled across the steel blue/grey sea. When the sun does find a way through the clouds it is nice and warm and we enjoyed our breakfast on the balcony, albeit with an extra layer on for when the sun went into hiding. There is hardly a breath of wind to stir my washing and the sea is still calm.
Yesterday was a bit of a frustrating day weather-wise, in that it started off quite promising with decent periods of sun, but the clouds won the battle. What was the frustrating was that the sun shone on Albania all day whilst we were chilly under the clouds. Things did change towards sunset, when most of the clouds melted away to give a very pretty little sunset with dotted lines of gold tipped clouds to the west, and a residual pink haze and sea towards the western mainland. The evening was quite hazy but was clear enough for the full moon and some stars to shine. Only the brightest lights from the mainland could be seen. The sea was flat calm and there was no wind. It was a chilly 7°C by the late evening.
The temperature at 10.00am on Monday 10th. February was 9.9°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 13.2°C and the minimum was 3.5 °C.

Good morning from Roda. We have a very mild start to the day with wall-to-wall sunshine with just a few thin clouds. There is quite a haze, with the mainland just about hanging on across the very calm and pale blue sea. Despite the sea looking very calm there are waves coming ashore with much more than a whisper. There is also barely a breeze, so breakfast was certainly enjoyed in the heat of the sun on the balcony. In fact, it was almost too hot for me in my fluffy dressing gown, but I am not complaining.
Yesterday saw us enjoying long hot periods of sunshine, very cool in the shade, and just a pleasant breeze. But things changed in the early afternoon. There was a sudden strong wind that threw the washing on my line all over the place, before dying away as quickly as it came. But the sun was being beaten by the clouds and it got increasingly cloudy and chilly, until by the end of the afternoon we had total cover. Then, despite all the cloud the day managed to pull off the most spectacular sunset of deep reds and purples all reflected in the dead calm sea. I am sorry the photo is blurred but it was a snatched shot. The evening was still very hazy and cloudy with the full moon back lighting the clouds in the prettiest way. It was a mild 11°C at 11pm.

Good morning from Roda. It is another very mild, for the time of year, start to the day. We have considerable haze with the mainland being completely lost across the channel. We also have quite a lot of cloud around both of the thin streaky variety and the thicker nimbus type. Despite the cloud we are enjoying almost constant sunshine, so breakfast on the balcony and all the doors and windows open. The sea is calm with small fishing boats heading in after setting their nets. There is just enough breeze to stir my washing.
Yesterday was an absolutely glorious day. In the UK it would have been a perfect summer’s day. We had clear blue skies and it was hot in the sun. The flat calm sea looked inviting enough for a swim, but we turned it down – too cold! The afternoon breeze, when it came was short and quite strong, wrapping my washing around the line. Then it all returned to the gentle breeze it had been. We saw some thin clouds gathering towards sunset which turned a delicate shade of lilac. They were in all directions overhead a real 360° sunset, which then mellowed into a gentle orange glow on the western horizon. We had a starlit night, very mild and with no wind and a flat calm sea. Albania was lost in the haze. It was a mild 12°C at 11pm
The temperature at 10.00am on Wednesday 12th. February was 12.8°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 17.4°C and the minimum was 9.2 °C.

With this lovely weather I have been preparing my garden plots for the summer vegetables. I laid my compost on the higher plot and dug it in. The soil was completely dry down as far as my fork would dig!! I had to get the hosepipe out and water it. Crazy for February...…..if we don't get some rains soon it will play havoc with the locals potato planting and crops. The only moisture most land getting is the heavy overnight dew! So whilst the weather great for pottering about; walking on beaches or in the hills or even sailing it is not so good for the smallholders and farmers.

Good morning from Roda. It is a lovely here, hot in the sun, with plentiful blue skies decorated with the merest wisps of thin clouds. The sky in the middle of the morning was criss-crossed with so many vapour trails from airplanes, don’t seen that many even in high season, there was barely a section that didn’t have one. Albania has returned from exile behind the haze and is so clear that we can see that most of the snow has melted from the peaks. The sea is lovely and calm and there is just a pleasant little breeze. Breakfast was enjoyed in the sun, though Steve with his jumper on was too hot! He even mentioned, in jest, retreating to the cold front balcony to cool off! We will enjoy it whilst we can because we are due rain and strong winds starting around mid-night.
Yesterday started off well, but, again the clouds rolled in and we even had a spot or two of rain early afternoon. There were a few tiny patches of blue by the end of the afternoon, but the low clouds were playing hide and seek with our mountain tops and Albania remained firmly fixed in the haze. There was a pretty subdued sunset which lead onto a surprisingly clear and starlit night. Albania though was still deeply embedded in the haze, which if anything seemed worse than earlier. It stayed very mild with the late evening temperature a pleasant 11°C.
The temperature at 10.00am on Thursday 13th. February was 11.4°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 16.4°C and the minimum was 9.1°C.
The maximum temperature for this day in 2019 was 11.3°C and the minimum 5.1°C. Lots of snow on mainland, high winds and rough seas, a day of clouds and sunshine with sunshine winning.
The reported UV for Today is 3 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice).
