Good morning from Roda. From the reports on Facebook we had an amazing dawn this morning, but I slept through it! It was another cooler night, so, for me, no fans were required. When I was opening the patio doors there was a calmness and a stillness to the view. There is a yacht anchored off shore and I could see it reflected in the flat calm sea, against a background of a misty Albania reduced to outlines of ridges and peaks. The sky had a few little white clouds floating around but was otherwise clear. Since then the wind is starting to increase and some of the haze has been driven off resulting in a clearer view of the mainland with its cap of bubbly clouds.
Yesterday stayed hot and sunny all day with the heat hardly touched by the afternoon breeze that failed miserably to get stronger and died with a whimper. So, the sea and the breeze remained calm and gentle all day. There was a stunning sunset with the eastern clouds tinged pink in the dying light. I took a few photos on my way into the village to meet friends as it was so lovely. I think the sunset one has come out well for once. The evening was pleasantly warm, with lots of stars dotted between small clouds, and a waxing crescent moon. There were plenty of lights around the channel to add to the picturesqueness. It was a pleasant 24°C at midnight.
The temperature at 10 am on Monday 24th August was 25.1°C, real feel 25°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.2°C real feel 31°C feeling hot in the sun, and the minimum was 20.5°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 31.0°C and the minimum 22.4°C, a sunny, hazy and calm day with clouds creeping over the mainland again. The reported UV for Today is 8 (Range 1- 11+) UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around and around the summer solstice). Good morning from Roda. We had another fairly cool night with the dawn temperature dropping to 21°C. Opening the balcony doors facing the north the sea was flat calm, barely moving in the still morning air, and despite the high humidity the mainland had quite a bit of detail. The sky was mostly cloud free but there were some traces of thin white inoffensive ones, most soon burnt off as the heat escalated. The good weather continues with no sign of rain for at least ten day when we see a possibility of scattered thunderstorms. But that is so far off things are bound to change before then.
Yesterday was a lovely, if humid, day with wall to wall sunshine and barely a breeze. So, no relief in the afternoon, as the breeze did stir, and my doors did bang shut, but then it gave up the ghost and disappeared for the evening. The temperature on the front may have barely registered 28°C, but in the sun on the back balcony it was hovering in the low 40’s°C. The lumpy clouds that had been sat over the mainland mostly melted away by the time the sun was getting ready to retire, but had been replaced by some thin sheets of hazy stuff that muted the sunset. Not saying it wasn’t pretty, it just didn’t have the punch of the previous two nights. We were then blessed with a gorgeous clear cloud-free night with a multitude of stars and a brilliant waxing halfmoon. The evening was cool again with the late evening temperature around 23°C.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 25th August was 25.0°C, real feel 26°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 28.0°C real feel 32°C feeling hot and very humid in the sun, and the minimum was 21.4°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 29.0°C and the minimum 22.2°C, a sunny, hazy and very humid day with not much wind in way of relief.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was a much warmer night, I even had to have the fan running all the time, most unusual for me! It was a lovely morning with cloudless blue skies, ignoring the one or two tiny things caught up on the Albanian peaks. There was no wind and the sea appeared calm, though I could hear waves hitting the shoreline. There was some haze almost veiling the mainland, turning it, mostly, into just a block on the horizon. It was still feeling humid as the sun got into its stride, but the breeze was steadily increasing as the morning progressed.
Yesterday was a day of three parts. The morning had clear skies and abundant sunshine and a gentle breeze, which didn’t do much to lift the humid feeling. The afternoon saw increasing clouds gathering, mostly from the south and east, joining those from the north, until we had long cloudy spells and hardly any blue patches left in the sky. The clouds and murk even filling the upper valleys and hiding the topmost peaks. Then the afternoon breeze eventually got into its stride and by early evening the clouds were dispersing. Then we got a brilliant sunset followed by a clear dark night with a half moon and lots of stars and plenty of lights around the bay. It stayed warm all evening with the temperature at end still 26°C!
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 26th August was 25.7°C, real feel 26°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.1°C real feel 30°C feeling hot and very humid in the sun, and the minimum was 20.8°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 29.0°C and the minimum 21.9°C, a sunny, hazy and humid day with a few clouds by evening. Good afternoon from Roda. I felt it was a cooler night as I didn’t feel the need for the fan, and a sheet was required around dawn when it felt a little chilly. It was a lovely morning when I stepped onto my balcony. Clear blue skies, much less of a haze so that the mainland was clearer, almost no wind and just a ripple on the sea, but with noisy waves coming ashore.
Yesterday was sunny all day, hazy and with a stiffening breeze. In fact, the breeze was more than stiff and gave us white horse out in the channel and bigger waves coming ashore. The white topped waves always look so pretty as the sea is such a deep blue colour. The wind did mostly die away by the time the sun was setting, just an average one, to give us a calm warm evening. We had a dark sky decorated with the half moon and a reasonable collection of starts. Joining them were the lights of the bigger mainland villages. It was a pleasant 23°C at midnight.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 27th August was 24.7°C, real feel 25°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 28.0°C real feel 30°C feeling a bit less humid, and the minimum was 22.7°C. Good afternoon from Roda. It was a cool night here with the dawn temperature around 19°C, so far, we have not had many really high night time temperatures, thankfully. A quick look at last year’s diary and we were getting temperatures only dropping to 24°C at times in August. It still felt a bit cool as I had my breakfast on the balcony, but it was warming up nicely. We had clear blue skies and enough mist to reduce the mainland to a jumble of ridges and peaks. There was almost no wind and the sea was flat calm with only a whisper of waves coming ashore. I took these photos as I wandered into the village for a coffee.
Yesterday stayed lovely all day with barely any afternoon breeze to ruffle the sea and the noisy waves from the morning were all but silenced by the afternoon. The sea becoming a mill pond which was enjoyed by everyone and the temperature is as warm as it is going to get, that is like a bath close to shore, only getting a little fresher further out. The day drifted in a lovely evening via a very nice sunset of flame orange, with the night sky showing a waxing half moon and plenty of stars. The haze had reduced somewhat and we had a lovely show of lights around the bay and across the channel on the mainland.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 28th August was 24.4°C, real feel 25°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.8°C real feel 30°C feeling a bit less humid, and the minimum was 21.0°C. Good morning from Roda. It was a cool night with no fan required but a sheet and the coverlet. It definitely feels like summer is on the wane, slowly but surely, the days are cooling marginally and most of the summer visitor birds have departed. I miss them bathing in Semeli’s pool and gathering on the wires strung across the garden to preen. Hope they have a safe journey and look forward to seeing them next year. It was almost to the day last year that we noticed their absence, however they do seem to linger longer down in Corfu Town. It was a cool start to the day with hardly any wind and a flat calm sea with quite a significant amount of haze veiling the mainland, though as the sun climbed it did reveal more detail. The sea looks so inviting, with just gentle waves kissing the shoreline.
Yesterday was a lovely day, with a slight reduction in the heat with the ‘real feel’ just dropping below 30°C. The afternoon brought some relief from the heat, but had faded to almost nothing again by the end of it. A few clouds had gathered over the peaks of the mainland, but they very kindly stayed there giving us clear skies overhead all day. There was yet another standard but amazing sunset leading us to a warm and balmy evening with a 2/3 moon, enough stars and plenty of lights around the bay. These warm summer nights are a delight, once the heat of the day and the flush of mozzies have gone. A time to enjoy al fresco drinks and meals in your favourite restaurant or bar.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 29th August was 24.2°C, real feel 24°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 28.3°C real feel 29°C still feeling humid, and the minimum was 19.5°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 28.3°C and the minimum 21.8°C, a sunny and very hazy day clouds on mainland peaks. Clear starlit night sky. Good afternoon from Roda. It was another pleasantly cool night with the temperature dropping to 20°C, OK I know this is from an acclimatised person, so generally most would say less a less hot one. Morning brought lovely clear skies, a pleasant breeze and lovely views of the mainland, only slightly veiled with haze. There had been strange layer half-way up the mountains but that was soon burnt off as the sun got into its stride. The sea is lovely and calm with gentle waves coming ashore.
Yesterday was another beautiful summer’s day with wall to wall sunshine and a gentle breeze for most of it. Some small pretty white clouds came and went, just to add a bit of interest to an otherwise monotonous blue swathe of sky. The sea remained like a millpond all day, being taken advantage of right into the dying rays of the sun by swimmers enjoying it. There was the usual lovely sunset with a now ¾ waxing moon trying to outshine what stars were around. The lights were in abundance around the bay adding to the general beautiful picture. There had been a small earthquake of 4.5 Richter at Igoumenitsa, which did wake me up as the bed wobbled at 3.30am on Saturday morning.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 30th August was 24.3°C, real feel 25°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 26.9°C real feel 30°C still feeling humid, and the minimum was 19.9°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 28.0°C and the minimum 22.2°C, a sunny and humid day with gathering clouds in the evening.

Good morning from Roda. It was another coolish night with the temperature dropping from 23°C at midnight to 20°C at dawn. Morning brought us clear skies, a considerable haze, a gentle breeze and calm seas. When I first opened the patio doors I could hear no waves but later on I was surprised to hear quite noisy waves hitting the shore. Their noise though was diminishing, so I think they were the result of a passing ferry down the channel. The sea soon returned to its noiseless calm self.
Yesterday was lovely and sunny all day. We got a bit of a nice cooling breeze in the afternoon, but it soon subsided to almost nothing by the evening. The day was still quite humid though making the temperature feel higher than it actually was. The mainland stayed quite clear all day, but some haze gathered in the evening to give a decidedly fuzzy sunset. Just when you think you have seen the lats of our summer bird visitors another group assemble. I wonder if they are migrants from further north, as they seem to rest, feed and have a wash and brush up then fly away en masse. The night brought us an almost full moon and a scattering of stars. There were some lights from the larger mainland villages across the channel, but still plenty around the bay. The only real miss all season has been the blue lights of Roda Garden Village. I felt it was a little chilly on my walk home from the village, belying the actual temperature of 23°C!
he temperature at 10am on Monday 31st August was 23.9°C, real feel 24°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.0°C real feel 29°C still feeling humid, and the minimum was 19.9°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 28.9°C and the minimum 22.2°C, a good start but with gathering clouds, losing our mountain tops, and a very strong afternoon breeze.

Good afternoon from Roda and kalo mena for the new month of September. It felt a marginally warmer night, but I got up to a much warmer, still humid, morning than recently and a lot of cloud around. It was even capping our mountains and coming down the top of the valleys. But, after a cup of tea most of the clouds had gone, leaving enough to cast a shadow for a while. There was a bit of a breeze and a lot of haze first thing, with the mainland reduced to just a block of colour on the horizon. The wind did die down for a while before the maestro and the strong north-easterly winds started to kick in.
Yesterday was a lovely day, feeling humid with the morning haze being progressively burnt off to give lovely views of Albania. The sea remained nice and calm with only a slight ruffle to the surface. What afternoon breeze there had been completely died away by evening, to give another slightly cooler evening. Some thin traces of clouds materialised in the early evening towards the west to give us a poor fuzzy sunset. The evening sky saw a full moon and the brighter stars joining those decorating the scene around the bay. It was a cool 22.5°C at midnight. We had another small earthquake here yesterday afternoon registering 2.6 on the Richter scale some 26km north west of Corfu. I didn’t feel it, but I was standing that time. It seems it was mostly felt by people on their feet!
The temperature at 10 am on Tuesday 1st September was 25.4°C, real feel 26°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.0°C real feel 29°C still feeling humid, and the minimum was 19.9°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 27.5°C and the minimum 21.5°C, a very hazy day with period of clouds.

Good afternoon from Roda. It wasn’t too warm a night, though at one time I woke up and the bedroom curtains were blowing in where I had left the window open. I awoke to a crystal-clear morning, where the winds had chased all the haze away and we were left with amazing views of the mainland and the deepest of blue skies. There were some traces of thin wispy clouds with a bit more over the mainland peaks. There was just the gentlest of breezes and the sea looked calm but noisy waves could be heard hitting the shoreline. It was a lovely walk along the front and I just had to share the beautiful views with you.
Yesterday was a bit of a mixed bag. We started off with clouds which then decided to move elsewhere, and left us with a sunny but very hazy day. The gentle breeze lulled us into a false sense of calm before the strong north-easterly maestro hit, giving us white horses out in the channel and big waves coming ashore. The wind did ease by the end of the afternoon and with it the waves started dying down. By early evening some light wispy clouds were gathering to the west and they gave us quite a fuzzy indistinct sunset. The night sky was graced by a bright full moon and some of the brighter stars and some of the brighter clusters of lights across the channel added to those around the bay. Always a lovely sight. It was a cool 22.5°C near midnight, beginning to think I will need a wrap soon at nights!
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 2nd September was 24.0°C, real feel 24°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 27.5°C real feel 29°C feeling less humid, and the minimum was 20.8°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 27.6°C and the minimum 22.5°C, a cloudy and calm start to the day, thunderstorm in the afternoon with localised rain for an hour. Sidari stayed dry, Acharavi and Roda not.

Good afternoon from Roda. Apologies for the late report, had to go into town this morning, found it to be very quiet and very hot so came back as soon as possible. It was a coolish night, I needed the sheet and the bedspread with the window open. Morning brought blue skies with a scattering of pretty white inoffensive clouds, hardly any wind and a calm looking sea (in fact the sea from Gouvia to the port was like a millpond), but here I could hear waves breaking on the beach.
Yesterday was a fairly decent day overall. There was plenty of sunshine in the morning with a gentle breeze and the remnants of the previous day’s waves. The afternoon saw the breeze getting stronger and bringing with it white horses and big waves inshore and clouds that eventually all but covered the sky. The wind dropped by early evening as did the waves, and we started to see some breaks in the clouds. It remained warm even in the cloudy spells and deceptively hot in the full sun. I missed the sunset as I was dining with friends at the Agrilla in Roda. The evening saw a wonderful full moon and enough gaps in the clouds for one or two stars to peep through. There were plenty of lights on both sides of the channel.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 3rd September was 23.0°C, real feel 23°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 26.7°C real feel 28°C feeling pleasant, and the minimum was 20.9°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 27.3°C and the minimum 22.7°C, a hazy day with speckled clouds, a strong afternoon breeze with white horses, almost dying away to a calm and balmy evening.

Good afternoon from Roda. My reports may be a bit variable when they get posted as my family are here and I’ve not seen them for a year so spending as much time as possible with them. Anyway, back to the report. It was another windy night as my curtains were billowing when I got up for a night time visit. Morning brought lovely blue skies with just a few scraps of clouds caught up on some mainland peaks. The sea was a picture of deep blues and emeralds flecked with white maned wave crests. There was quite a noise from the sound of the waves crashing onto the shore line. I’ve not talked about the wind though, it was very strong blowing in from the north-west, so strong, in fact, it drove me from the north facing balcony.
Yesterday started off quite nice with plenty of sunshine, a gentle breeze and a calm sea. However, the breeze strengthened and brought with it considerable cloud, and white horses across the bay. It did get so cloudy at one point in the afternoon that the sun was hidden for a while. The wind did clear much of the haze away so that we got lovely views of the mainland. We actually had a strange phenomenon, in that if I looked out of my north facing windows all I could see where clouds and no sunshine, If I changed sides of the house it was wall to wall blue skies. It was almost as though I had a line drawn overhead dividing the sky into equal halves. The wind blew most of the clouds away, leaving some thick streaks that tinged pink and picked up the colours of the dying sun. As I walked back home just before 10 pm I watched the sky glow to the east, and then the full moon in all its glory ascended the sky over the Ammos Grill. Beautiful. The evening did have a fresh feel about it at that time, the temperature was 24°C, but the chill was caused by a lack of humidity.
The temperature at 10 am on Friday 4th September was 24.5°C, real feel 25°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 26.3°C real feel 27°C feeling pleasantly warm even hot, and the minimum was 20.3°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 27.7°C and the minimum 21.7°C, a hazy day with speckled clouds, an strong afternoon breeze bringing waves and increasing clouds. Then the wind died away, leaving enough clouds for a nice sunset and a cooler evening.

Good morning from Roda. It was the coldest night of the summer (well certainly since June 19th.) with a dawn temperature of 17.8°C, autumn is creeping up on us. The winds of yesterday are now thing of the past, I awoke to clear startlingly blue skies without a trace of clouds. There is minimal haze with the mainland reasonably clear. That oh so strong wind from yesterday has reduced to the merest of breezes. The sea has calmed right down, but I can still hear waves making it to the shore.
Yesterday was lovely if extremely windy for most of the afternoon. The umbrellas and parasols at Theodoros where in danger of disappearing over the hills to Ipsos! We had a wander down to the beach which was all but deserted, as were the beach bars. Only the stalwarts were left with sand being driven along the beach making life very uncomfortable. Away from the beach the wind was more tolerable as there was some shelter from it. The wind had whipped up big waves that were crashing over the wall of the harbour. I missed the sunset somehow, but the world did turn a pretty shade of pink before it. Night time brought a slightly squashed looking waning half-moon, shining brilliant in a dark star speckled sky. By the end of the evening the wind had just about faded away as had most of the big waves just leaving long low ones to wash the shore. It was a cool 23°C at 11.30pm.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 5th September was 22.8°C, real feel 23°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 25.9°C real feel 27°C, feeling less in that wind, and the minimum was 21.2°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 27.9°C and the minimum 20.1°C, a sunny cloudless day until some clouds crept over from the mainland.

Good morning from Roda. My report is a bit early today as I am being dragged off to Aqualand with my daughter and the grandkids. It was a cold night with the temperature at midnight only 20°C, falling to just under 18°C at dawn. The morning started with what looked like a lovely dawn, then emerged with cloudless blue skies barely a breath of wind and a flat calm sea. It will be nice and hot once the sun gets going!
Yesterday was a lovely September day, not too hot and without the extreme heat of the summer, but with constant sunshine and hardly any wind for most of the day. The afternoon breeze did come but it didn’t stay too long. There was a pretty standard monochromatic sunset but hazy, but the night sky later on was nice and clear with a 2/3 waning moon and plenty of stars. Albania was clear, so plenty of lights showing across the channel.
The temperature at 9 am on Sunday 6th September was 19.7°C, real feel 20°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 26.2°C real feel 27°C, feeling a lot more in the sun, and the minimum was 17.8°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 30°C and the minimum 21°C, a sunny cloudless day feeling hot and humid. Good morning from Roda. We appear to be in a period of nice settled weather. It was another cool night, probably aircon not required, for me I needed the coverlet. Morning brought us clear, cloudless blue skies and a gentle breeze. The mainland across the channel had some detail with the sea a lovely shade of blue and totally calm and noiseless. Another beautiful early September day in prospect. The temperature in the shade may be 22°C but in the sun the thermometer reads 42°C. I am seeing a lot of very red burnt skin at the moment, especially on the men!
Yesterday was just a lovely day from start to finish, though I did notice when I was down at Aqualand with my family the leaves are starting to turn, a reminder that autumn is just around the corner. After the obligatory time when the world is flushed pink the sunset was a fuzzy unspectacular affair. The one or two tiny clouds that had appeared to the west didn’t add anything to the overall effect. The evening was dark, as the moon didn’t rise until late on. So, we had a cool (light jacket required), evening with a scattering of stars and plenty of lights on both sides of the channel. It was 21°C at 10.30pm.
The temperature at 9 am on Monday 6th September was 22°C, real feel 22°C.
Yesterday’s maximum temperature was 28.1°C real feel 29°C, feeling a lot more in the sun, and the minimum was 17.7°C. This day last year the maximum temperature was 28.5°C and the minimum 21°C, started off with some cloud but had a thunderstorm with some rain in the afternoon, before clearing.
