The latest business to open in Roda is a tattoo and piercing parlour situated between Drosia and Zanthe hairdressing salon. If I hear of anyone getting work done there I will see if they are any good. Must be difficult at the start as people won't know what their work is like.
I only saw my relection when I postred this photo lol.

I had a walk along the beach road to Acharavi had saw that the work on the former Beis Beach complex has restarted with earth movers on site and a lot of shuttering for concrete laying being built. I walk along there frequently in the winter so will keep an eye on what is happening.

The village is starting to get ready for the season with high hopes. Hotel and apartment grounds are getting tidied up with trees and bushes cut and lawns strimmed . The air is full of the noise of chain sawas and strimmers. Buildings are being cleaned and painted and winter damaged fences repaired. We are still waiting for the pot holes in the roads to be filled and the beach road cleared of winter storms stones and debris.
The chairs at the former Newport are being painted white, covering up the blue of Greece, and there is much drilling, hammering and other noise coming out from behind the screens. The family at Skouna are down everyday just about doing their preparations and Floyd at the Dolphin is hard at work on the inside bar as well as refreshing the paint in the restaurant.
The pool at the Afrodite is coming along with the new tiling on the reduced deep end in place and a new pump system going in with deck-level channels being finalised.
There is work going on in the new builds next to Nemo but difficult to make out exactly what's happening, but the canopies have been extended to give more shade.

Big Ben's is now open as is La Luz, and Pixida opens tonight. So, that just leaves Makris and Silver Beach as still waiting to open that I know off, oh and the little bar behind the bus stop. I think the Crazy Forks restaurant is on the point of opening. I have been busy with the house so haven't had a chance to do a proper check around the village. I will have a good walk around the village tomorrow and see if I have missed anything.

The olive grove opposite Sophie apartments and Theodoros is now a hive of activity as some olive trees have been removed, the site cleared and foundations are being put in place. I understand that they are building new blocks that will have 65 beds. They are expected to be open for the start of the 2023 season. These very wet conditions won't be helping them.

On my first proper walk around the village today I discovered a couple of new projects. The former Loft car hire place next to the Alpha bank ATM is now an art material shop, and a little further towards the crossroads next to Pixida ther is work going on in a previously empty business. I think at one time it had been a fish and chip shop amongst other things. The new development of Theo's is coming on nicely and I will get a photo soon. There will be 65 beds in new two story blocks in the field opposite Sophie's apartments. It loos as though they will be stone faced as there are a couple of men and a huge pile of stones they are busy splitting.

The new develpment at Theos is coming on apace with Theo there seemingly every day getting his hands dirty in the process. I am sorry about the finger in one of the shots. I didn't notice it until I was back at home. I will be taking more as the buildings grow.
The varying stages of the three building sites.

The 'is it isn't it' saga about a fish and chip shop continues. It looks like it is happening with the equipment being fitted. There is some confusion as there are a couple of units being developed at the same time next to each other.

Theo and his team have worked all hours to get the new villas ready for their visit guests and they have acheived what looked a hard ask not that long ago with the first guests arriving yesterday and seen enjoying their patios. I should have had every faith in Theo, so all the individual villas and the terrace of five are all complete. A Euronet ATM has been installed there, but their rates are far from the best, always, when asked, choose the option that allows your bank to set the excahnge rate.
The tourist shop on the other side of the lane to the Dolphin has had its shop front windows and doors fitted.
Inka the tattoo shop is now open after the winter and its move.
The Straw Hat (at the crossroads) is certainly getting on with the fitting of their new barbers shop.
Makris is still shut with no sign of life, as is Silver Beach. I can only think of The Wave Bar and Il Gelato that isn't open yet.

Theo already has guests in his new villas opposite the main part of his resort. Here is a few photos to show what a good job he and his team have done.

The Coral hotel during the winter extended it's terrace area and sunbeds on the lawn alongside the restaurant. Extending existing pavement and adding a gate for ease of access to the beach road. For the last few years they have added steps down to the beach as well.
You can also see the padddleboards available to hire.

There have been a few changes in the village with some new businesses opening or taking over from a previous one. Kalokairi, the clothes and souvenir shop near the traffic lights has been taken over by new owners and renamed Mousses. For the old hands this is where the Roundabout bar used to be Straw Hats the barbers has moved into the former Pixida premises, which is understandable as their previous home was too small for the dmand they had. They have added a bar and called it Kicks and Cuts. Vry different furniture, they have used old cable drums as tables. Probably the business is aimed at young Greek men though I have seen a mixed crowd there. As with any new business family and friends are the first customers. Where Straw Hats used to be we now have anothe tattoo parlour to add to Inka already in the village near Sandy's. The art shop next to the Alpha ATM seems to be empty, it didn't last very long.

I had a walk through the village to catch up on any developments or things of interest.
The Summerlife apartments have been open a few weeks now, and I saw that Charlies Venus apartments next door also were.
The empty shop opposite Crusoes down the lane has been beautifully converted into an apartment, incorporating a small apartment behind it.
Roda Beach Water sports has increased the range of rides that you can take.
Aphrodite have small motor boats for hire which are getting good reviews, joining Achileas’ Boat hire by the Coral Hotel who also have paddleboards and canoes for use by guests.
Poster outside Afrodite.
It looks like the River Bar behind the bottom bus stop isn’t opening this year.
Nemo’s has updated some of its seating and is now looking a very pleasant place to hang out. They also do snacks etc. and have a very leafy shaded area beside the children’s soft play.

Building work continues around the village. The Elizabeth Apartments have had their patio windows knocked out in one block and replaced with a door and a smaller window. I could see plasteres and electricians busy inside. The Coral still has a concrete mixer going every day, with the rubble shute still in place from the top floor. The restaurant area at Afrodite and the Yach Club restaurant has been extended into the road, to give more room. The Straw Hat at the crossroads was having window fitted yesterday, much needed as they only had outdoor space. The new business Yammas was a hive of activity. I understand it will be takeaway Greek food, not a grill room. There is an apartment block on Road 2 opposite Charlies Venus apartments has had the grounds cleared and looks like work is happening. Also the apartment block to the right of Roda Park has some activity, though that has been on and off for a very long time now.
