Good morning from Roda. We had another wet night, and we have even had a short but heavy shower just now. The clouds were very low over us and Albania which was lost on the horizon. the sea is quite calm, but the breeze which was quiet is picking up at times. We are due quite a windy spell later on today. Thankfully the temperatures are up a bit, at the moment hovering around 10°C. We did get a hint of brightness to the south but that soon went, but to the north we even have a few brave patches of blue.
Yesterday was a day of long periods of rain and showers some of them very heavy at times. Albania was lost on the horizon across a calming sea. Early opened sided ferries to the main land had been cancelled. We had sporadic thunder and lightning through much of the afternoon and into the evening. The temperature started rising again in the evening reaching 11°C, before starting to fall again. The seas were building up again and becoming very noisy by the evening, the sound of the waves being added to by the rattle of the stones bumping against each other along the beach between the Coral and Nino's. We managed to dodge the showers on our walk into the village in the evening. It being a weekday, and the festivities over, there were fewer lights around the bay but they were joined by some from Albania as the murk lifted.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Thursday 10th. January 2019 was 10.5°C, real feel 10°C, and the humidity 79% giving a dew point of 8°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 16.4°C and the minimum 12.9°C. A mostly cloudy start but sunny later.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 11.3°C (real feel 11°C), and the minimum was 3.9°C , a dew point of 8°C. The maximum humidity was 79% and the minimum 51%.
The reported UV for today is low at 1 ( Range 1- 11+).
UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice). The maximum temperature recorded by me in Roda in 2018 was 33.0°C real feel 35°C, on 8th June. The maximum recorded temperature ever in Corfu was 42.8°C The lowest recorded temperature was -8.8°C

Jan, my powercut that started in the early hours of this morning didn't see me reconnected until 5:40pm!!!!!!!!!!!!! I too saw that strange phenomenum low over the sea a few days back from my balcony; I could see the cloud forming on the surface of the water and floating up to join the very low cloud that as you say was heading towards Italy while the much higher cloud cover was heading in the opposite direction. I have never seen it before and your photo catches it nicely; I stood watching it for over quarter of an hour. OMG such a long time without power, hope you have a somba. Love watching the weather here can stand for ages. Over heard someone say that you get used to the view, after six years I am still entranced and both of us frequently just stop what we are doing and rush outside to look.

Good morning from Roda. It is a pretty decent start to the day, we have blue skies with some amazing cumulus clouds, snowy white against an amazing shade of blue. We are only getting glimpses of Albania across an almost flat calm sea. It looks like the ripples in watered silk. The thermal layers were causing the smoke from a big bonfire to travel parallel to the ground rather than up as it should have done as we had no real wind. There is only a gentle breeze, the humidity is quite high but hasn't added to the low temperature. No way warm enough for breakfast on the balcony. We still have pockets of snow that can be seen in the high gullies of our mountains that don't get much sun.
Yesterday was supposed to be awful with high winds and heavy rain. After the rain during the night and a rumble or two of thunder we awoke to a damp and cloudy start to the day. It remained cloudy all day, with any hint of brightness quickly squashed with the occasional spell of light drizzle. Whilst the sea was calm close to shore we could see white horses way out in the channel. There were a few patches of blue by late afternoon. By the evening it was dry and the clouds even parted to give a glimpse of the crescent moon. The sea was sending long floppy waves ashore which caused a slight spray which we caught on our walk back from the village in the evening. The lights of Albania were mostly back to join ours, so the haze had lifted a bit. It was a chilly evening with the temperature late on being 8°C.
A couple of photos taken last Saturday near Acharavi.

Good morning from Roda. It is a beautiful morning here, almost clear blue skies with just some thin streaky clouds, no wind and a calm sea. It is chilly though out of the sun. The sun is gleaming on the fresh snow on the Albanian peaks whilst our last remaining snow that we could see on our mountains was gone yesterday. When you drive into Acharavi the snowy peaks are right in front of you, doing a very good impersonation of the Swiss alps, they look as though they are at the end of the road. It is good to get the kitchen door open again and let the warmth of the sun in.
Yesterday was a mixed day of sunshine and clouds, It got increasingly cloudy to the south, whilst the north remained bright with a few clear patches. However we only got a hint of the sunset. The sea was calm as were the winds, so all in all it was quite a pleasant if cool day, though not as chilly has it had been. Once the sun had gone the skies cleared to give stars and a fuzzy moon. The wind was still absent and the sea whilst calm further out was sending long floppy waves ashore.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 12th. January 2019 was 7.8°C, real feel 7°C, and the humidity 66% giving a dew point of 2°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 12.0°C and the minimum 7.6°C. A sunny start turning to heavy rain before clearing.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 10.7°C (real feel 11°C), and the minimum was 4.8°C , a dew point of 6°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. it was a lovely start to the day, almost cloudless blue skies with just a hint of clouds, a bit of a cool breeze coming off the sea which was quite noisy with the waves hitting the shore. Some of the snow on the Albanian peaks has thawed. It was a cold night with the temperature only just above freezing, but by the time we were eating breakfast it was warm enough to enjoy it on the balcony. It stayed lovely all morning as we had a walk around the village.
Yesterday stayed sunny all day with an almost clear sky. It was very pleasant in the sun, but cold out of it. The sea steadily got rougher throughout the day, but the breeze remained kind. The subset saw only a modest glow in the sky, but the snow topped mountains of Albania were a picture in tones of pinks and lilacs. Stunning against the pastel pinks and blues of the sky. We had a cold and clear night with lots of stars and lights around the bay and a waxing crescent moon.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 13th. January 2019 was 8.0°C, real feel 10°C, and the humidity 71% giving a dew point of 3°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. It was a cloudy old start this morning with thick heavy cloud, though the sun was a light orb trying to shine but failing miserably. There was no wind and the sea was flat calm with Albania showing as a snow capped dark mass on the other side of the channel. It felt chilly and damp so breakfast of porridge inside today. We also had no water as it turned out the water people were fixing all the leaking pipes after the cold snap.
Yesterday was beautiful until the cloud came over suddenly mid afternoon. One minute it was bright sunshine and clear the next a veil of cloud had appeared in the sky and the sun was gone. It did get a bit breezy in the afternoon and the sea started the build with white horses eventually appearing. The clouds cleared enough during the evening for some stars to appear together with a half moon. The evening was very clear with all the lights around the bay shining, with extra ones because it was a Sunday and Veggera and Fuego were lit up. The wind dropped away and the sea reduced to producing long slow waves to come gently ashore.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Monday 14th. January 2019 was 6.8°C, real feel 8°C, and the humidity 72% giving a dew point of 2°C.

Good morning from Roda. What a change from yesterday as my photos taken this morning from the front balcony will show. We are so lucky to be able to sit in bed with a morning cup of tea and see this view. In fact my first view also included a dazzling white ferry gliding up the channel towards Italy on a raging sea of cobalt blue, flecked with white from the wild waves. The down side, if there is one, is that it was freezing on that balcony. There is a strong wind blowing and nothing between us and those beautiful but cold snow fields. We have a cloudless blue sky and the air is so clear that it feels within touching distance.
Yesterday was a cold and cloudy day with quite a bit of rain in the afternoon which had cleared by the evening. The wind stayed away for the most part and the sea was calm with a few gentle waves coming ashore. The sun did make a pitiful attempt at breaking through the clouds and failed badly. The evening was very clear with all the lights around the bay in their place. there was even a thin enough patch of cloud for a single star to glimmer.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Tuesday 15th. January 2019 was 9.9°C, real feel 7°C, and the humidity 53% giving a dew point of 1°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 13.9°C and the minimum 9.8°C. A day of sunshine and cloudy spells.

Good morning from Roda. What a lovely morning we have here. the strong winds and rough seas that were present went we went to bed were completely absent this morning. However we paid a cost for the clear skies in that the dawn temperature was a very chilly 0.6°C. the sky is clear with only a hint of a cloud on the far horizon, there is almost no breeze and the sea has calmed to a lovely rippled shade of blue. Despite it being a cool 7°C we enjoyed breakfast on the balcony, the temperature in the sun must have been at least 10°C warm than the shade temperature.
Yesterday was a beautiful if wild day. The wind steadily increased during the day whipping the sea up to large waves. The day remained cloudless over us but by the late afternoon there was an almost continuous low bank of clouds in the direction of Italy. The setting sun caught the snowy peaks of the Albanian mountains turning them into an amazing sight. By the time it was dark the spray from the waves was catching our faces as we walked down the drive even though we were still around 100m away from the sea. The temperature wasn't that cold but with the wind chill it felt more like -1°C! It was bracing to say the least. The low level of humidity gave us terrific clarity so we had a sky full of stars and enough light from the half moon that we didn't need the torch.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Wednesday 16th. January 2019 was 4.6°C, real feel 7°C, and the humidity 49% giving a dew point of -5°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 14.0°C and the minimum 8.8°C. A day of sunshine with cloudy spells which got longer in the evening.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 10.6°C (real feel 7°C), and the minimum was 5.7°C , a dew point of -3°C. The maximum humidity was 75% and the minimum 34%.

Good morning from Roda. We have another lovely morning here, with blue cloudless skies, no wind and a calm sea. The snow capped peaks of Albania are dazzling in the morning sunshine. We must enjoy today as it could be the last good day for a while as we are due a long spell of wet weather. The clear night gave us an dawn frost which soon melted as soon as the sun got on it and it is now pleasantly warm on the south balcony, warm enough for breakfast. It might have been 8°C in the shade on the front balcony but it was a toastie 20°C on the back where we enjoyed our breakfast.
Yesterday stayed lovely and sunny all day with just a few thin strands of clouds appearing just in time to add magic to the sunset, which was beautiful. A wind did spring up for a while increasing the number of waves giving us white horses as far as we could see. However evening saw the wind and the waves died down to give us yet another clear starlit and moonlit night with all the lights around the bay in their place. It was chilly but nowhere near as cold as the previous night.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Thursday 17th. January 2019 was 5.5°C, real feel 8°C, and the humidity 67% giving a dew point of 1°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 13.8°C and the minimum 11.4°C. A day clouds with only a brief sunny spell and a windy afternoon, very mild evening.

Good morning from Roda. We have a very cloudy start to the day with Albania lost across the channel and low clouds down to 600m obscuring our backdrop. There was rain during the night and we have gentle showers now. On the positive side it is warmer with the temperature in the small hours rising to 8°C before falling to around 7°C at dawn. There is also no wind to add any chill factor to the milder temperatures and the sea is still flat calm. However we are due a significant amount of rain and some possible thunder storms. I had just finished writing the report when the wind got up, the clouds came down even further and we had a very heavy shower, such are the vagaries of the weather here in Corfu.
Yesterday was a good day. We had plenty of sunshine, so I got my washing dry, a gentle breeze at the most and a flat calm sea. The good visibility that we have enjoyed continued so the snowy peaks of Albania were there to be admired in all their winter glory. Clouds did get more numerous in the afternoon, and into the evening. However there were enough gaps for stars to shine and for a fuzzy moon to glow. Some of the great visibility was gone though we could see the lights of some of the villages across the sea which was still flat calm.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday 18th. January 2019 was 10.8°C, real feel 14°C, and the humidity 79% giving a dew point of 8°C.
The maximum temperature this day 2018 was 12.5°C and the minimum 7.6°C. A very stormy day with gales and a raging sea. Skies cleared to show a trillion stars (my note from the diary).
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 12.9°C (real feel 8°C), and the minimum was 1.6°C , a dew point of 6°C. The maximum humidity was 68% and the minimum 54%.
The reported UV for today is low at 0/1 ( Range 1- 11+).

Good morning from Roda. After a cloudy night with enough gaps to left the almost full moon shine we awoke to a cloudy but bright morning. The sea is calm and there is a gentle breeze at the moment. The clouds are skimming our mountain tops whilst over the channel Albania has gone from sun highlighting parts of the mountains to hiding it behind clouds, which is the present situation. The sun has been making a determined effort to be seen here, think it is in a losing battle as more rain had been forecast.
Yesterday was extremely wet at times with very heavy showers, The garden and the roads were awash at times. There were enough breaks in the rain to get around nearly in the dry, and by evening it was mostly dry. The moon was making its presence felt even if we couldn't see it as we didn't need a torch for our walk to and from the village. It seemed to stay mainly dry for the rest of the evening and was mild with the temperature at 11pm 11°C.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 19th. January 2019 was 11.4°C, real feel 11°C, and the humidity 81% giving a dew point of 7°C.

Good afternoon from Roda. Despite the poor weather forecast we woke to the rising sun turning large billowing clouds golden with sunlight, well at least lemon, and all reflected on large areas of the sea. Deep contrast was provided by the threatening clouds over Albania and those being held back by the mountains behind us. A picture in many shades of greys and yellows. The sea was calm but rippled and the breeze was mild and gentle. Breakfast was enjoyed in the sun on the balcony. The photo I took this morning of spring marigolds basking in the sun at the side of the main road into Roda.
Yesterday was a mostly dry but cloudy day. The early morning brightness increased in the afternoon, at the same time the dark brooding clouds were gathering around us. Late afternoon saw the sun low in the sky catching the branches of the trees and building in golden light against this dark rain filled clouds. You know that lovely light you get when the sun in out and it is about to rain, just beautiful. The winds became quite brisk and the heavens opened which lasted around an hour. The evening reverted to calm winds and cloudiness with some fine drizzle and most of the lights across the water quite clear. It was very mild with the end of day temperature reaching 12°C.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 20th. January 2019 was 11.1°C, real feel 8°C, and the humidity 80% giving a dew point of 8°C.
