Good morning from Roda. It is a dark gloomy morning today. We have heavy dark clouds almost totally obscuring Albania across the very ruffles sea. The hills and mountains behind us are dark and brooding with very dark clouds to the south west of us. There is also quite a wind chill with a still south easterly breeze. It rained during the night and it has just started to again, and the mist is coming down the mountain sides. Just heard thunder so we are getting a storm!
yesterday was a lovely day. It stayed bright and sunny for the most part. There was some cloud build up in the late afternoon, but the expected rain hit Arillas and not us. It was just about nice enough to enjoy a late lunch on the balcony before the chill breeze chased us inside. The evening was partially cloudy, but we couls see stars in the gaps and it felt quite mild as we wandered along the sea front back home.

Good morning from Roda. The word for this morning is RAIN, or should I be more accurate in saying 'more flipping rain!'. There are waves of very heavy rain blowing across us here with interludes of less heavy drizzle. The wind is quite strong which is just making things a bit miserable. Albania is just an outline on the horizon across a very dark sea, and our hills and mountains are hiding behind heavy mist and cloud. It is quite cool with a wind chill factor making it feel even cooler. Our garden has turned into a swamp, with more water visible than dry patches! The only positive note is that the thunder and lightning storms we had during the night have gone (hopefully).
Yesterday was almost a day of unrelenting rain, wind, and thunder storms that developed in the evening. There were a few brighter patches, and we even managed to walk into the village in the dry with a cloudy sky that had enough clear patches that we could see stars. The lights of Albania shone across the water. It was short lived and we had to water back in heavy rain. The thunder and lightning continued all evening, causing a short power cut mid-evening.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 17th January 2017 was 8.7°C, real feel 6.0°C, and the humidity 73% giving a dew point of 4°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 9.5°C (real feel 7.0°C) and the minimum was 6.5°C , the dew point 5.0°C.

Good morning from Roda. The word for this morning is RAIN, or should I be more accurate in saying ' yet more flipping rain!'. We awoke to heavy rain sweeping across the landscape with Albania lost in the heavy clouds and our mountains steadily being engulfed by mist and cloud. The wind is very strong at times, we can see the eucalyptus trees really swaying. The sea is not looking that rough but we already have a couple of ships sheltering so they must be expecting very high winds and storms. The BBC has forecast gusts of 40+mph and Wunderground are warning about coastal thunderstorms. Looks like it is a day for battening down the hatches! So saying that we still plan to go out for our morning coffee and do a bit of shopping. Our garden is drowning, even the parts that we have built up a bit are looking sodden. The birds are enjoying the harvest of grubs and worms escaping the water.
Yesterday was mostly wet and windy. There were a few times during the day when it seemed to clear a bit and we did see the occasional small patch of blue. But mostly it was wet and windy. So saying that with the wind coming from the east or south east the sea was quite calm considering. The path to our apartment is under a couple of inches of water so wellie boots are the order of the day.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 18th January 2017 was 9.7°C, real feel 6.0°C, and the humidity 74% giving a dew point of 5°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is not raining, we are grateful, but our garden is more so. The only things enjoying that wet weather were the ducks and geese on the land behind the Boathouse. Their puddles were so deep that they were enjoying a good swim and a wash! The hens and rabbits were not so keen and had sought dry places and couldn't be seen. Back to today, there is more snow on the Albanian peaks which looked very dramatic against the blue/green sea first thing this morning. The visibility is quite good all around, with even our backdrop quite clear. There is still a very fresh breeze blowing. But all boats have gone from the channel so the storm must have passed. The sky is very overcast, but it is bright and the sun is making an appearance evry so often. The photos were taken this morning from our front balcony.
Yesterday was cold and wet all day. The wind was howling and dashing the rain against the buildings. It did ease briefly from time to time but never for very long. Our garden is semi submerged now. The broad beans have abandoned all attempts at swimming and have taken to the life rafts! All the drainage ditches round us are full to the top and the stream past Theodoros is now a raging torrent, with its exit under the bridge by Makris a good two to three metres wide. The bay is stained brown with the silt coming off the land. We didn't venture out during the evening, it was too wet and wild. Towards the late evening there was a very heavy hailstorm battering our back balcony.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 19th January 2017 was 11.3°C, real feel 11.0°C, and the humidity 68% giving a dew point of 6°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a much better day today. We have a pale blue sky with a few clouds on the edges. The visibility is good, with Albania and its snow capped peaks nice and clear across the ruffled sea. Our mountains are also pretty clear as well. The wind has dropped so all we have is a light breeze. The ground is still singing as there is so much water draining from it.
Yesterday was not brilliant. After one or two poor shows of brightness it remained dull and over clouded all day. The views of Albania from Roda sea front looked monochromatic but startlingly beautiful. I will post some photos later. Sorry don't have time now as heading into Corfu for a bit of pre travel shopping. We got drizzle starting by mid afternoon, with rolls of thunder coming from over Albania. The rain got quite heavy for a while in the early evening before petering out. However we did had many flashes of lightning from the north and some further showers during the evening.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 20th January 2017 was 10.7°C, real feel 11.0°C, and the humidity 67% giving a dew point of 4°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a glorious morning. We have clear cloudless blue skies barely a breeze and warm sunshine. There are a few clouds sitting on top of the snowy Albanian peaks that are so clear across the deep blue sea, which is only slightly ruffled. Our back drop of hills and mountains is slightly hazy. It was a joy to sit on the balcony in the sun and enjoy our breakfast. For much of the time we could only hear the sounds of nature. We do so enjoy those moments and have to pinch our selves that it is the third week in January and it was snowing so recently.
Yesterday stayed lovely all day. The sun shone and we had a lovely trip down to Corfu town. It was a pleasure being able to go into St Spiridon's church and his chapel and be able to enjoy it with only a few other people. No mass tourists! The tourist streets were mostly quiet, but the shopping areas were bustling and we enjoyed sitting with a lovely coffee in the sunshine people watching. I also managed to get my good luck rodi (pomegranate) for 2017. I have collected one for every year I have been here. We also had a trip through the market and got a big bag of mandarin at €1 a kilo. The fish only the market stalls still were in rigor mortis! The dya was rounded off with a lovely gyros pitta at €2.40 for a big one Delicious. But the journey too and from Roda was simply stunning. The air was so clear and the light so bright it showed Corfu at its beautiful best. The view towards Albania were breath taking. Back in Roda we enjoyed a stroll into the village under the dying sunset and the walk back beside the sea under a clear starlit sky.

Good morning from Roda. It is another glorious morning here. We have blue skies, tempered by some thin high cloud and lots of sunshine. There is just about a breeze and the sea is blue and only slightly riffled. Albania is beautiful and clear across the channel with its snowy peaks shining in the sun. There are some low lying clouds clinging to their flanks. We are hazy and the fire have started again with more work on the olive groves now the rain has stopped and the land has had time to dry a little. We even managed to get a bit done in our garden yesterday to build a support for the broad beans.
Yesterday stayed lovely all day, with lots of sunshine and only a very gentle breeze. It did get a bit cloudier in the afternoon that veiled the sun, but we still managed to have our breakfast on the balcony and our late lunch. Though the chill did chase us inside soon after our meal. The evening was pleasant, cool, but calm. The sky was cloudy so no stars, but the sea was flat calm and we could see the lights of Albania join those of around the bay and up the hillsides to make it a very pretty picture.
The temperature at 10am on Sunday 22nd January 2017 was 7.7°C, real feel 7.0°C, and the humidity 74% giving a dew point of 3°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a cloudy but bright start to the day. There is almost no wind, the sea is calm and the clarity is very good. There is sun shining on the snowy peaks of Albania, so very pretty. Our hill and mountains are a bit hazy, but there are several bonfires going. As I am writing this the sun is making a valiant effort to break through. It was way too chilly, in the absence of sun, to have our breakfast on the balcony.
Yesterday was a lovely day. We had sunshine all day not affected at all by the thin high clouds. These clouds did thicken up a bit during the late afternoon, but not enough to give us much in the way of a sunset. It was warm enough for some of the village boys and girls to enjoy a game of beach volley ball. Pirates and Alexandros and the Beach had customers on the beach enjoying the mid-day warmth in the sun. The wind stayed kind and the sea calm with gentle waves just kissing the shore. The evening did had some more cloud cover, but it was still pleasant with some stars shining and the lights of Albania and the bay reflected in the sea.
The temperature at 10am on Monday 23rd January 2017 was 8.3°C, real feel 8.0°C, and the humidity 69% giving a dew point of 3°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a very grey, cold and wet morning today. We have total cloud cover and such poor visibility that you can just about see Albania through the murk. The sea is calm but there is a bit if a breeze. Fortunately the rain is of the soft kind that in summer we would want as it is good for the plants. However our ground is still sodden from the last lot of rain. Our hills and mountains are also losing a battle with the mist. No meals on the balcony today, the same as yesterday.
Yesterday remained overcast all day with the sun giving up any attempt at breaking through. The lack of sun made it feel much cooler than the day before even though the temperatures were similar. To be honest it does feel quite e bit milder and my gloves and scarf are not always needed. However the visibility was quite good until the evening when Albania started sliding back into the mist and haze. The only good things that can be said is that the day remained dry and the breeze stayed calm. It was such a contrast from the previous day when everything was clear and sparkling and we could enjoy a stroll along Roda beach.
The temperature at 10am on Tuesday 24th January 2017 was 9.4°C, real feel 9.0°C, and the humidity 69% giving a dew point of 3°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a much better morning today. Even though it is cloudy it is bright and getting brighter. The sea is calm, but I can hear some gentle waves reaching the shore. The breeze is just gentle and the visibility has seriously improved since yesterday. Albania has emerged from the gloom, though not in its full clarity. We are our usual hazy selves. And as I write this the sun has come out!!!!
Yesterday for the most part was very dull and very wet. Albania was absent without leave and our valleys full of heavy mist and cloud for much of the day. The rain did start easing off by late afternoon and by early evening it had stopped altogether. Even the lights of Albania that were missing on our way into the village had re-appeared for our walk back.
The temperature at 10am on Wednesday 25th January 2017 was 9.1°C, real feel 9.0°C, and the humidity 78% giving a dew point of 6°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a bright start to the day, but damp. When we got up there was a fine drizzle that got heavier for a while but now has stopped, the sea is calm and there is a definite brightening in the sky. Patches of blue are appearing towards Albania. There is just a gentle breeze, the sea is flat calm and Albania is not at its most visible. It does look as though some of the snow on the sides of the mountains is disappearing. As for us we are much clearer than usual.
Yesterday wasn't a bad day at all. The morning brightness failed to develop any further, and by the afternoon the clouds were gathering again. The wind remained gentle and the sea calm for the rest of the day. The stars did make an appearance as we walked back from the village mid evening. The day felt colder than expected because of the damp and humid air.
The temperature at 10am on Thursday 26th January 2017 was 10.1°C, real feel 10.0°C, and the humidity 80% giving a dew point of 7°C.

Good morning from Roda, sorry good evening! I had to go to get my hair done this morning and couldn't do my report at the usual time. Then, unfortunately, it got overlooked whilst we were busy getting our camper ready for the return to the UK. This morning was quite bright with sunshine and clouds, there was a bit of a breeze, but not too much. The sea was calm and we were hazy. Albania could have been clearer across the channel, and, indeed, some of the snow has gone from the mountain sides.
Yesterday could have been much better. It didn't get as sunny as we wanted with the clouds building up. especially during the afternoon. Albania disappeared in the mist and we had rain in the early afternoon. Our valleys and hills started hiding in the mist and clouds as well. It stayed mild with the breeze being no more than gentle. We did have some stars out at night for our walk home, and it was quite mild with barely a breeze.
The temperature at 10am on Friday 27th January 2017 was 8.5°C, real feel 9.0°C, and the humidity 79% giving a dew point of 5°C.

Good morning from Roda, or rather kalo mesimera. There isn't a direct equivalent in English, but it means good mid-day. I am a bit late, but we have tons to do. The sky was quite clear when we woke up but there has been a gradual increase in clouds ever since. Not what I want when I have a pile of washing to do!. It is sunny in Karousades, but not here! However we managed to get our breakfast on the balcony, just warm enough. There is not a breath of wind, the sea is calm and the visibility not that great. Albania is playing hide and seek with us and our mountains are quite hazy.
Yesterday was not too bad, but not as nice as it could be. However I managed to get the washing dry. It was a day of clouds and sunshine, but did clear a bit as the day progressed. We had a calm night with no wind, a flat calm sea and a few stars twinkling away. It is gradually warming up both during the day and at night, but it still feels chilly.
The temperature at 10am on Saturday 28th January 2017 was 8.0°C, real feel 8.0°C, and the humidity 72% giving a dew point of 3°C.

Good morning from Roda. This my last report until late April. I am sure that Dave will continue to keep you up to date. It is a dull grey overcast day for our last day here. The valleys behind us have mist and smoke filling them. The snowy peaks of Albania are visible across the flat calm sea. There is no wind to shift this stagnant weather.
Yesterday was a bit of a wash out as regards to the sun. It did start off bright but the clouds persevered and won. There were one or two brighter patches in the afternoon but they didn't amount to anything. Despite the clouds and lack of wind I did get my washing dry. The evening was calm and there were stars shining, so we thought the clouds were going. No chance! The temperature at 10am on Sunday 29th January 2017 was 7.6°C, real feel 8.0°C, and the humidity 75% giving a dew point of 3°C.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 10.7°C (real feel 11.0°C) and the minimum was 5.2°C , the dew point 5°C. The maximum humidity was 83% and the minimum 65%.
