Hi Jean, my reply wasn't aimed at your nostalgic memories but at the doubters who said the work would never be done, i even altered it so that it tried to convey that message, pete.

Wow! Thos pics are brilliant! I'm actually excited about seeing what it'll all look like when it's finished. Not too much being done for it to feel like a new resort, but enough being done to keep us on our toes.

Don't worry, Julie - Alfa Supermarket has risen from the rubble and is now immediately below Splendour Apartments where Mary's used to be - and very smart it is too. Not far to walk now! ;D

We used to get fruit from here every evening for breakfast the next day. When the children were younger there used to be a couple of those little coin operated rides next to it. Nigel would take the kids on the rides while I got the fruit. Happy memories. Luv Jan X

I'm really looking forward to seeing all the changes - there just looks like an awful lot still to do - hope they get it finished.
regards, Kath.

Looking at all the phot's & posts of the work going on in the village has stirred up the old grey cells a bit. I've been visiting Corfu for nearly 30 years and there have, obviously, been quite a few changes. Unfortunately the grey matter isn't as good as it once may have been and I've never been a great fan of photos so I am finding it very hard to remember what the villages (Roda and Acharavi) looked like back in the stone age when I was a callow youth. Would a ''Then & Now'' thread be of interest? Apologies if posted in wrong place .

Hi Julie and Steve, Because you are the people ''on the spot''. Will you be able to see the sea from the crossroads when the work is finished?. Still looks a bit bendy from your photographs.
Brian.

Hi Brian - We have stood in the middle of the road outside of the bakery and we cannot see how anyone by the Roundabout Bar will see the sea by the Afrodite. It is a close one, but the curve in the road by the Drunken Sailor seems to be the problem. Steve

Has there been much progress, do you think we could have another sneak preview before they stop work for easter?
