Hi this year I found on the internet "MOSQUITO BANDS" and for the first time in ages had no bites!!!!! Aldi is selling them on sunday for £2.99 for a set of 2 much cheaper than I paid!!!! If you suffer from bites as I do I would try them, I took 2 sets 1 for each week. It was good fun too as everyone wants to know where your staying as you look as if your all inclusive!!!!

Having contracted Malaria during my Naval career, I do show a keen interest on this subject. The ironic thing regarding my Malaria, was the fact that I took every medication the Navy gave us to reduce to possibility of catching Malaria (it cannot be completely avoided), but alas it did not work.
However, on my visits to Corfu I have been the only one in our groups who has not felt the bite, or the irritations of the dreaded Mosquito bite. Yet I take no medication before or after, and do not apply any creams, lotions or potions during our stay.
What I am a firm believer in, and it has not failed me as yet, is that I either take, or purchase a jar of Marmite, and have this every morning, and if I have snack back at our room of toast and Marmite, or just bread and Marmite. As most will know, Marmite is heavy in Vitamin B6 (or something like that) which is not appreciated by the Mosquito. (By the way, please do not cover you body in Marmite, it does not work that way). I also drinks lots of Tonic Water. There is one in Corfu called Nordic I think, which as all do, have Quinine as part of their ingredients. Quinine being an anti Malarial drug.
As I have said before, even in a group of 14 I was the only one who did not get bitten.
Another good method at night. If you are not using your fridge in the room (if there is one). Switch it on, open the door, and place a portable fan in fron of it. This circulates very cool air, and the Mozzies do not like it.
Yeiamas, Chris

Funny you should mention Marmite & Vit B6. The doctor told my mum to try taking B6 tablets b4 going away on holiday & to take anti-histimanes for a fortnight b4 & a fortnight after (and during, obiously), cos she gets them bad. Don't think she was bitten last year. She always takes a mosquito net with her.
Last year was the first time I ever Raided my room & was also the first year, I wasn't bitten. Raid would kill any living thing in it's path. lol

I have tried many things cos they just love me , got bitten at the airport last year forgot to put patch on before I left Manchester and had to go to the docs but after that never got 1 bite ;D ;D Tried the patch a few weeks ago in Benidorm and came home bite free ;D ;D

lavender soap and lavender joss sticks in the room always work for us john That's what we use John - as many will know, we actually add a few drop of lavender oil to a carrier (an oil based facial tonic or mainly to Avon's dry oil spray) and then apply to arms, legs, face and neck early evenings in addition to the lavender incense sticks and candles. As an avid label reader, Chris, I know that many tonic waters these days contain 'quinine flavouring' and not the real extract. Does this make a difference - I have often wondered. Perhaps you can enlighten us and answer one of my long-time riddles.

'Raid' will kill everything - including you, Jackie - be careful! natural solutions may be better.

When we arrived in Roda for the first time 23 years ago, we didnt know about the mosquitos and I woke up the first morning with my arms covered in bites. I looked so silly as I was lilly white and my husband counted over 150 bites AND he did not have one bite. I also use avon sss and also use a small buzzer on a keyring that gives of a high pitched noise that we cannot hear. I put that on my bag and leave my bag around my ankles when eating and drinking in the evenings, it does help.

The buzzer sounds like a good idea. Is that a special one for mozzies?
