Nikki, you get the buzzer things in all good chemists (seen them in Superdrug & Savers), unless am thinking of something different they take the itch away after you've been bitten.

Hi Jools, as Marg said the "buzzers" give off a high pitch soundwave that is supposed to repel the mossies, i think you are referring to the "zappers" which you fire onto the site of a bite - they send a small electric shock into you - i personally would not be without one. pete.

Evidently, the little piezo-electric zappers can be used on acupuncture points - maybe if you aim it at the point between your thumb and forefinger, it will relieve a hangover! Steve

I have just been flicking through an Avon catalogue and was wondering which product is good for repelling mosquito's. I think someone said it was the dry oil spray is there a preference on the scent out of soft & fresh or soft & sensual? Any help would be greatly appreciated Also brought 2 packs of the mosquito bands so i'm looking forward to trying them this year as well, I'm fed up of being attacked by the mossies every year and not much has helped prevent them since I haven't been able to buy Off! anymore used to love that product!! Hi Rachael, I bought the green one last year and also added a couple of drops of lavender oil as apparently they don't like the smell. They don't like lemon either so made sure the whole family used lemon shampoo and shower gel every evening. Nikki

Hi Rachael, you need the "soft and fresh", I use the dry body oil spray, i've never had any probs with the mossies since using it, as i've said previously i combine it with Jungle formula roll on, I too normally get bitten terrible, got one bite last year & that was just cos I forgot to put it on my foot

We buy the dry oil spray, Rachel, but we add to it a few drops of lavender oil and this works a treat. We have explained our tactics many times, but prevention is much better than the cure!

I always use Avon Skin-so-Soft, either pink or green. Not used it with lavendar oil but may give it a try.
I am an Avon rep myself and sell lots of it.....many people swear by it as long as it is used regularly.

Thanks everyone, I have now ordered myself a bottle for my holiday.
Think I might invest in the roll on as well as lavendar and lemon products. I'm not taking any chances this year!!
The only thing I'm not willing to do is eat marmite (hate it!!) lol

I am very fortunate not to be bothered by the mosquitoes. I did contract Malaria from a visit to Mozambique back in 1986, and it was one of the most horrible times of my life. This was after taking all the medication given, and supplied by the Navy.
I can remember years ago reading about Marmite to keep the blighters away. It is stacked with Vitamin B6 or something. I love Marmite and always have done, but moreso since Mozambique, and before and during a holiday I eat loads of it. I also drink lots of Tonic Water, specially the brand sold on Corfu, Nordic I think.
Whether this does work I do not know, but on all our holidays to Corfu and Zakynthos, in particular when in large groups, I am the only one not to be bitten. That says it all really.

Just be careful not to spray downwards onto the wooden floor when doing your ankles. The oil makes it really slippery as I found out many times much to my dismay (you'd think I'd have learnt the first time)

I don't know 'Nordic' tonic water, Chris, but there is a new-ish brand that I prefer to most others - if you can find it. It is made with 'kafalovriso' spring water and part of the 'Loux' range and, if you are lucky, you might find the mandarin drink as well - it's lovely.
