Good morning from Sfakera; where I am having breakfast on the balcony to sober up following the Beer Festival last night! It is a case of same again this morning weather wise. It is exactly the same as yesterday morning.
Yesterday was again a near perfect day of sunshine with just a light afternoon wind. Again we had a bright yellow orange sunset followed by a starlit night.
The maximum temperature was 28.5c and the minimum was 18.5c.

Good morning from Sfakera. It is truly same again as we wake to a fresh still cloudless start; Albania is clear with a very light haze; the sea is calm and the sun was rising. It was 19.3c at 8:30am when I left for work at the recycling centre.
Yesterday was a wonderful day; wall to wall sunshine. A few fluffy clouds appeared over the Albanian peaks. There was just the hint of an afternoon breeze. I was on the beach at Roda and the sea lapped the shore with small ripples. The only noise was the power washer in use as La Luz took up their beach decking and sunbeds ready to store away (it seems they are closing early as Theodoras closes this week following Thomas Cook collapse and its same owners; in fact all the Thomas Cook places close by 4th October except Roda Beach that is not 100% TC). The beach was not busy but was not empty either; many in the still warm sea as well. A nice but not spectacular bright yellow sunset preceeded a lovely starlit night.
The maximum was 28.4c the minimum was 19.0c.

Good morning (Kalo Mina) from Sfakera where it is again a very similar start. There is slightly more haze towards Albania but the air is still, the sun is up and it is cloudless. The sea is calm. Judging by the weather forecast the next two days are t be made the most off outside as a storm is coming and we are due potentially very wet days on Thursday and Friday; so its tidy the garden and balcony and get in supplies so I don't need to go out if it is bad.
Yesterday the month ended with another glourious day of full on sunshine. AFternoon clouds built up over Albania and behind our own peaks as well as to the west but the very gentle breeze help disperse them before sunset. A bright yellow sunset was followed by a mainly orange horizon edged by yellow, and purple; sitting high above it in the western sky was the crescent moon. On darkness was complete there was a fully starlit night.
The maximum temperature was 28.0c and the minimum was 19.2c.

Good afternoon from Sfakera. This morning there was a very gentle breeze, some fluffy clouds over Albania and clouds, fluffy and some grey, on the western horizon. They have since moved towards and over us. The sun has been out all morning and is still with us and several neighbours have been, like me, busy in their gardens.
Yesterday was again a day full of sunshine with just the odd cloud around. There was a very gentle breeze and the sea was almost becalmed, just ripples on the shore. It is noticeably quieter this week in Roda as there are no arrivals from Thomas Cook and there are signs some places will close earlier than usual...…..New Port was closed and packing away. All day it stayed the same with no pick up in the wind in the afternoon as usual. We had another yellow/orange sunset followed by the familiar ribbon of yellow, orange and pink on the horizon with the moon above. A starlit night followed.
The maximum temperature was 28.9c and the minimum was 19.9c.

Good morning from Sfakera. We had a thunderstorm just after midnight, the rains were medium type shower and didn't last for very long but the thunder was very loud and the fork lightning lit up the whole sky. I woke just after 5:50am to see the whole sky almost continually lit up buy lightning; there was distant rumbles of thunder. It continued that way until about 7:30 when the rains came; this time very heavy. In fact so heavy that by8am the visibility was about 100 metres. There is accompanying louder thunder and a gusting wind so my whole balcony is wet . By 8:15 the wind has stopped and the rain has eased a little but is still very heavy; the uncultivated parts of my front garden are covered in puddles. We keep getting short sharp powercuts.
There was due to be a powercut in Roda today from 8:30am to 13:30am for routine works; my guess is that will be cancelled until tomorrow due to this storm and the lightning.
Yesterday the clouds kept coming and passing giving us a mainly sunny day with the odd interruption. There was a gentle breeze making it a lovely day to be out and about. The sunset was nothing; the sun just disappeared and left no colours to the horizon. Clouds began to build and by 9pm there was lightning to the SW and distant thunder slowly getting louder. At about 9:30pm we had a short light shower only lasting about 10 minutes at the most. Once stopped the lightning remained visible for over an hour.
The maximum temperature was 28.8c and the minimum was 18.5c

Good morning from a very wet Sfakera. It has been raining constantly all night accompanied by lightning and a rumbling drawn out thunder (not that load though) until nearly 3am. Not heavy rain but continual, sometimes just a light shower, mostly a bit more than that and it is still raining gone 8am. The clouds are high in places but lower over our hills and mountain. Albania is clear with a few clouds; in places wrapped so rounded over the tops to look like snow! The sea looks a dark grey too and is calm; the air is still and very damp and birds are chirping having been very quiet yesterday Just 18c at 8am.
Yesterday...……..what a day to let us know our summer has ended. The rains yesterday morning just kept on coming; slowly the visibility improved again and the sea came back into view. Albania was clear and a few gaps appeared in the clouds but it continued to rain though nowhere near as heavy as earlier. It almost stopped at 11am but suddenly it came back heavier for a final swansong until it did stop at about 12:45. Now most of Albania had vanished as the storm clouds were there. Incredibully there started to appear blue skies and by 2pm Albania came into view with a hint of sun on its highest peaks. Not for long though as before 3pm we could hear distant rumbles of thunder and clouds rolled in again. At 4:40 we had a 5 minute shower and Albania had vanished again. The thunder continued and became louder accompanied by lightning. Just after 5pm a short powercut followed by rain which became heavy by 5:45 and also a wind had picked up too. Around 6:25 another powercut as the thunder became very loud and the rains even heavier. This was short and sharp and it stopped by 6:45 clearing very quickly and there were patches of sun. By 7:30 the sky to the West was almost clear; an orange tint on the horizon confirming the sun had set; it was however still grey to the North and East. It didn't last as at 10:30 we could again hear thunder and see lightning to the West (a facebook post revealed a storm in Paleo at that time) and by 10:45 we had spots of rain which gradually became a light shower and then a full on thunderstorm. The thunder not as loud as the afternoon but long and deep rumbles; the lightning forked and making the whole sky turn briefly white; the rain was now constant but not torrential and this continued right through to this morning.
As you would expect we suffered a massive temperature drop so the maximum was only 22.1c with the minimum 18.7c.

Good morning from Sfakera where it is a fine fresh morning. The sky has plenty of small passing clouds, grey and white, probably the remains of the storm we had. There is a bigger bank of white fluffy clouds to the far West and a few more light clouds over our peaks meaning we have no sun as yet though it is clear. The sea a very dark blue looks to be calming after yesterday. The air has just the hint of a breeze to it. Just 19.1 at 8:30am.
Yesterday the rains almost stopped at 8am but continued as spots and a light shower until 9:40am. It began to clear a little but still lots of high clouds around especially to the West and South. Sun appeared over Albania around 10am. We had a powercut at 10:45 for a couple minutes. The clouds were still reducing and by 12:45 the sun arrived with us; however lots of passing clouds and banks of them over our peaks. A wind then picked up gusting at times to F4; soon the sea turned to a mass of whitetops; the shutters on the balcony were rattling and the trees rustling while the bamboos bow to the ground. This wind stayed with us until well after 7pm. The affect of the wind was to drive the clouds away and we had plenty of sun from mid afternoon until sunset at 7pm. There were still a few passing clouds; a layer to the west meant the sun; bright yellow at the time; was hidden for a while. Above and below the layer of grey the sky was a bright light yellow. A brief glimpse of the setting sun as it dipped below the layer of cloud before setting. Nightfall revealed a lovely half moon to the WNW and an abundance of stars though by no way a full starlit night. As the wind stopped so it began to feel a bit warmer and the temperature was falling away much more slowly so it was a fairly mild night.
The maximum temperature was 23.6c and the minimum was 17.9c.

Good morning from Sfakera. It is a fine fresh morning with the sun rising. The sea dark blue is calm, the view is clear with big fluffy clouds over Albania. A bank of grey clouds lie to the west and in between there are some individual clouds of varying colours but plenty of blue sky as well. There is no breeze at all at the moment. It was 18.2c at 9am.
Yesterday it took a long time before the sun broke through here though it was out in Albania. even then it was short lived as the clouds to the SE and South were winning. However after lunch a light wind arrived and the clouds began to disperse giving us a lovely sunny afternoon. The walk up to Nymphes for the football was wonderful; the views never cease to amaze at this time of year without the haze to dull them. The verges, especially nearer to Platonas, are covered in pink cyclemen. The only downside was a mass of groups of midges coming out of the olive groves or above the ditches. After 5pm a bank of thin high grey clouds appeared to hide the sun for a while and sitting in the shade of the hill behind the stand there was a need for a thin jumper or light jacket. The walk home as the sun set behind the clouds and darkness began to arrive was equally pleasant. After nightfall there were glimpses of the moon and stars as the clouds passed and began to thin out. The air was again still and full of bats.
The maximum temperature was 22.1c and the minimum was 19.1c.

Good morning from Sfakera. The mornings are drawing in quickly now and it was highlighted today as we have full cloud cover. The clouds are grey but very high as we can clearly see all the Albanian peaks as well as our own. The air is still and the sea; looking very grey in colour; is calm. Just 17.2c at 8am.
Yesterday the sun came through and the clouds slowly passed or dispersed apart from those over the top of the Albanian peaks and ours. AFternoon brought a light westerly wind blowing along the beach. There were a good number on the beach enjoying the sun but Roda is quieter than usual as a result of no new arrivals who would have been booked with Thomas Cook. Yesterday was the last day of the return home of their customers; it seems that 94% were able to return home on their due date so the inconvenience was reduced. It is expected that things will be quiet from now but apart from La Luz and New Port everywhere else seems open at present. That may change once the new footfall is evident this week. By mid afternoon some clouds, white and fluffy, began to appear but they didn't interfere with the sun until nearer to sunset. Sunset was nothing much due to the clouds but we did have a yellow sky to the horizon. As night fell we had glimpses of the moon and some stars between the clouds. It was a mild evening as the wind had died away; a pleasing 20.4c at 10pm.
The maximum temperature was 24.3c, the minimum was 17.6c.

Good morning from Sfakera. It is another fresh start, damp with still air. Last nights shower was still ongoing after midnight but by then very light but in continued until shortly after 1am. Dawn broke to reveal 90% cloud cover, grey and high. Some cloud just touching the peaks in the northern part of Albania; the southern ones were particularly clear with the cloud high above. The sea is dark grey and calm. As I write at 8:50 so it has started to rain; again a light shower.
Yesterday the grey start continued; however just after 10am the sun sort of broke through a thin gap and we had a bit of sun for just over an hour before the clouds won. During the afternoon there were a couple of spells of drizzle; not lasting too long and only just about making the road wet all over. It stayed very grey with a light wind; some clouds were lower than others and it always looked threatening. The News on TV revealed a lot of rain in Epirus and Northern Greece. After nightfall I was watching Greek football on tv from Lamia and the pitch was affected by surface water such was the rain there. Before that game finished so it started to rain here; about 9:15. It was a shower which continued into the early hours but it was never heavy and got lighter as it went.
The maximum temperature was 21.9c and the minimum was 17.2c.

Good morning from Sfakera. It is a very clear start, bit of dew around, fresh but still. The was a very high patch of thin grey cloud around over the sea which moved away to Albania to be replaced by a slightly lower band of white cloud but it is still 70% blue sky and the sun is out. Just 17.2c at 9am.
Yesterday the morning shower only lasted for about 5 minutes. It then slowly cleared and we had sunny intervals. By mid afternoon the clouds had almost all gone; just a bank sitting on the peaks of Albania and a few grey fluffy clouds above our hills. The rest of the sky was a lovely light blue and the sun was full on. There was a gentle breeze from the west. It was quiet on the beach and several places have or are in the process of closing; e.g. El Mar and Roxannes. Of those on the beach and decking at Alexandros 50% were residents here and the same again when we went to Sandys Bar. There were tourists walking around but it is definitely quieter than usual for the time of year. The sunset was a bright yellow behind Karousades hill and the sky was light yellow on the horizon. THe night was mild, as the breeze had gone, and starlit.
The maximum temperature was 25.1c and the minimum was 17.2c.

Good morning from Sfakera. It is a cloudy start to the day but they are very high and look to be thin. Albania is not as clear as the last few days but still we can see it all; the sea calm and grey. The air is still and there is a hint of sun starting to break through. At 9am it is 18.3c.
Yesterday the early sun soon disappeared as a bank of grey and white clouds, small but almost linked in a pebble effect, covered the sky. It made my work in the garden much more pleasant; digging I still worked up a sweat but not as much had it been full on sun. Around 1pm the clouds quickly dispersed to give us a lovely sunny afternoon and early evening with just a gentle breeze. The sunset was a bright yellow ball; my view here is not so good as it goes behind Karousades hill about 7pm. There have been some lovely photos on FB of the sunset at Roda beach; Sunset Beach in Peroulades and other places. AFter nightfall we had a bright 2/3 moon and stars; not a full sky of stars only the brighter ones were on view until well after midnight.
The maximum temperature was 25.2c and the minimum was 16.4c.
