Good morning from Sfakera where it the same again. Mild, still, hazy with Albania barely visible but you know its there as there are low white fluffy clouds as well capping their mountains. The sun is out and my washing already dry. It was 23c at 10am.
Yesterday was a near perfect September day; sun out all day, a calm sea, a gentle afternoon breeze. A beautiful bright yellow sunset followed by a light red horizon and a star and moonlit night. I took a stroll through the olive groves and up over the hill to Alexandros Beach (aka Golden Sands) that only took 23 minutes. Plenty there and in the sea by Roda Beach enjoying the sun and the warm sea. I then strolled along beach into Roda for the late afternoon before returning home the road way. A nice way to spend an afternoon after a mornings work in the garden. There seem to be a good number of tourists around and still plenty of hire cars and quads on the roads.
The maximum temperature was 29.8c and the minimum was 19.6c.

Good morning from Sfakera. It is much more humid this morning and the haze is totally hiding Albania. The air is still and the sun is rising. The one problem is we have no water running at present; also the little wasps are already making themselves a nuisance. It was 23.1c at 10am.
Yesterday as the sunny morning progressed so large fluffy clouds built up over our mountains and lower hills; some white and others grey. They hid the sun for periods after 11am for slowly dispersing as the sun moved around to the west. SOme clouds remained over the mountain all day. There was a very gentle breeze all afternoon. Late afternoon a few grey clouds were evident to the west over the sea; these tinted pink after the sun had set and remained around into the night. The sky was clear in most areas revealing the now 2/3 shape of the moon and the stars. It stayed mild all evening being 24c as midnight approached.
The maximum temperature was 28.9c and the minimum was 20.0c.

Well Zaz things have changed......read on.
Good morning from Sfakera, it is a fresher start after last evenings rains (see below) with plenty of fluffy clouds around, some rather grey. A large bank of white are over the sea and Albania; where the cloud doesn't cover then Albania is more visible than recently. There is also blue skies and we have had glimpses of sunshine. The air is still.
Yesterdays sunny humid start soon lead to clouds building over our hills and mountains giving some periods of shade. The water remained off until gone midday.A light wind also picked up and the washing dried quickly. Many were out in gardens strimming and preparing for winter vegetables as it was not so hot. The clouds in the west broke into small but there was a full bank in the South West, South and East many of which were rather grey. By 7pm there was almost full cloud cover so no sunset and it was just a question of how much rain was coming. Just after 8pm distant rumbles of thunder and lightning over Albania told us the storm was arriving. Around 8:40 a few spots and shortly after the rains arrived; not too heavy but a decent shower. We had just 2 loud thunderclaps over the village but plenty of lightning. It remained a shower and lasted for about 3/4 hour before stopping. By 9pm there were breaks in the clouds and some stars were visible but unlike often the clouds always remained all around. At this time the storm was still ongoing in Albania judging by the amount of lightning over there.
The maximum temperature was 28.2c and the minimum was 20.2c

Good morning from Sfakera where it is a fresh start; just 18.6c at 8am but the sun is rising. However there are plenty clouds around, grey and banked above Albania but mostly above their peaks, thin layers of mixed grey and white elsewhere. There is a change to the wind direction today; still at present at ground level but due to be up to F4 from the East. As regular readers will know this often means bad weather but we will see.
Yesterday the clouds were hanging over our peaks all day. In the morning the sun was out and broke up any clouds that came towards the sea but we had a few shady patches. Gradually the clouds appeared to be winning; over northern Albania there was a large white back of cloud round and smooth on top due to winds so it looked like snow; it wasn't as we could see the peaks below it. In the afternoon a strong westerly picked up and soon the sea was a mass of whitetops, The wind had the effect of clearing away the clouds and pushing those over Albania inland giving us a sunny late afternoon and evening but remaining cooler due to the wind. A yellow sunset left us with an orange/red sky on the horizon before nightfell giving us a cool starlit evening
The maximum temperature was just 26.5c and the minimum was 20.2c.

Good morning from Sfakera where it is a lovely start to the day. The sun is up the air is still. There is a haze around but not to heavy and Albania is visible. There are no clouds to be seen at present. It is cool being just 18.4c at 9am. Today many roads are closed in Corfu Town to encourage people to cycle or walk and it looks like being a good day for both.
Yesterday the clouds were ever present all morning giving us sun and shade; the breeze was light and it was perfect weather for walking (and those involved in World Clean Up Day events) or just lazing on the beach. The sea was surprisingly calm after yesterdays winds. In the afternoon a light wind picked up getting a bit stronger as the day went bye but it never reached the forecast B4. The clouds began to disperse and after 4pm there were just a few remaining over the peaks Late afternoon many felt the Earthquake which was in the sea off Albania. It was 5.8 richter and followed by a 5.0 aftershock. No reports of any damage on Corfu. The evening was the best time of the day with full sun until it set as a large yellow ball leaving an orange strip of sky on the horizon. Once dark we had a wonderful starlit night to enjoy as the temperature slowly fell away.
The maximum temperature was 27.4c, the minimum was 18.5c.

Good afternoon from Sfakera; I was working at the recycling centre this morning. We woke to lots of clouds, some mackerel and some layers; some white some grey; some bits of blue but no sun; we could see it try break through but not over us. Slowly a breeze get up and clouds disperse and we got some sun but it was short lived and the clouds began to intensify and were becoming more grey as well.
Yesterday there were lots of clouds but also lots of sun; a light wind. Some clouds were grey but it never looked like rain. It was a perfect day for walking; gardening or even sunbathing as without direct sun you will still tan (more safely). As the day progressed the clouds built up but there was always some sun as it moved towards the west. In the evening the sun was still shining through; between two layers of grey cloud so we had a yellow sunset but nothing special to look at. The evening as nightfell was cool; starlit once dark but no special sky as the set sun hid below shining onto our clouds. Walking home t 10:30 it was cool but not cold; bats were everywhere and the sky was starlit.
The maximum temperature was 27.5c and the minimum was 18.2 c.

good morning from Sfakera where it is muggy after overnight bad weather and 25.1c at 10am. Lightning was ongoing at midnight from last evening (but no sound of any thunder) though there were stars visible to the west. The lightning moved from the North to the NE then South and SE by 2am when we had a very short shower of about 5minutes. We had another slightly longer light shower sometime before 7am. When dawn broke it revealed plenty of grey cloud cover though some clear gaps to the East and South so we have the odd sunny spell. It is also very still.
Yesterday morning the clouds slowly dispersed =, except over the hills, and there was plenty of sunshine. The light afternoon winds soon brought the clouds back and they slowly thickened often with greyer ones underneath. By 6pm we had full cloud cover though it did begin to clear a bit from the west after 7pm and nightfall revealed a few stars in that direction. However by 8pm there was lightning to the North and NE lighting up the whole sky. It was purely electrical storm as there was no thunder to accompany it and no rain either. The lightning moved slowly south to the NE and then the East and SE after midnight. The cloud and the warm light wind kept the temperature higher than usual being 23c at midnight.
The maximum temperature was 26.8c and the minimum was 19.5c

The National Observatory of Athens said that more than 10,500 bolts of lightning struck the Ionian and western Greece on Tuesday.
Heavy rainfall caused problems on some of the Ionian islands on Tuesday too, with streets flooded in eastern Cephalonia.
The above is from the Greek Press and the TV News confirms Corfu was very lucky to miss the worst of last night storm that also claimed 2 lives in separate incidents of lightning strikes.

Good morning from Sfakera where things have settled and the weather front has completely passed. We wake to a cloudless sky; it is clear with Albania as clear as it has been for many a day. The air is still and the sun is up and it is 20.8c as we approach 9am.
Yesterday the tail of the bad weather front had to clear. As the morning progressed so the clouds over the lower ground and sea slowly dispersed aided by a medium strength wind leaving us with a nice sunny, but windy, afternoon. The sea was full of whitetops. The passing buses to Town were all full so I assume it wasn't a good day for the beach. However by early evening the winds had dropped and we had a lovely bright yellow sunset. There was always clouds over out hills; some so low they were over its shoulders (I saw a FB photo of somebody who went to top of Pantocrator and from the final turn facing the Monastry you can just make out a tree near the café...the rest is fog (cloud)). Albania too was covered in clouds all day especially to the NE of us. The day ended with a lovely starlit night.
The maximum temperature was 26.8, the minimum was 24.2c.

Good morning from Sfakera; we went to sleep to an almost cloudless starry night and wake to grey banked clouds above and to the N and NE; ALbania is only partly visible at its border with Greece. To the South and West there are fluffy clouds in the distance but in between there is blue sky. The air is still it is 21.3 approaching 9am and we have had a glimpse of sun.
Yesterday was a lovely day, sunny with a light wind. Throughout large fluffy clouds built up over Albania and slightly greyer ones over our peaks, shouldering them in places. Just before sunset some white layers of cloud, thin with big gaps between, started to appear to the near West. They didn't affect a beautiful bright yellow sunset This was followed by a still starlit night.
The maximum temperature was 27.7c and the minimum was 20.6c.

Good morning from Sfakera where it is a lovely start to the day. Clear and almost cloudless; a few low clouds hug the coast of a clear Albania; some small passing grey clouds have dispersed now the sun has risen. It is still, the sea looks calm. It definitely looks like an outdoors day again. It is 20.7c as we approach 9am.
Yesterday the odd glimpses of sun was all we got. As the day progressed so the grey clouds thickened; there seemed to be a high layer and then darker clouds passing underneath. It all looked the recipe for lightning and thunder but as it was nothing happened here anyway. A light wind got up and Albania vanished completely. Clouds shouldered our own peaks. Occasionally you thought you felt a drop of rain but it was maybe in the mind and not the air. A good day to be busy in the garden and I notice that plenty of pink cyclamen are now out on the verges and in gardens following the recent light rain. I saw photos from friends on a boat trip to the Blue Lagoon and they had more sunshine in the South. There was no sunset to see but there was a thin orangey pink horizon before nightfall. The wind died away, the clouds blocking any sign of stars until they slowly began to disperse as we approached the early hours.
The maximum temperature was 26.6c and the minimum was 21.1c.

Good morning from Sfakera. It is fresh and just 19c at 9am after a cloudless night. It remains cloudless and Albania can be clearly seen though there is a very slight haze. The air is still, the sea is calm and the sun is up. There is a further increase in birdsong as it seemed we had another influx of migrating birds arrive yesterday; the difference in their song so noticeable whilst I was working in the garden that I just had to stop, listen and look around.
Yesterday was the reason so many people love holidaying in late September and early October in Corfu. A near perfect day of wall to wall sunshine. There was an afternoon light wind from the West giving a few small whitetops out in the channel. The umbrellas on the beach were flapping but it was not affecting those who chose to be on the loungers. In the village there was hardly any breeze as it was more sheltered to the wind. It seemed like many people stayed out into the evening to make the most of the sun and the fact the wind had eased. A bright yellow sunset was followed by a yellow orange sky to the western horizon. Being cloudless there was a wonderful starlit night.
The maximum temperature was 27.2 and the minimum was 20.4c
