Good morning from Sfakera, another hazy start, Albania still hidden but clearer over sea, the air still and the sun broke through before 8am. .
Yesterday the sun came through but the haze never really cleared and by early afternoon clouds cover the sun for a while. They passed to give a sunny late afternoon and early evening. A light yellow sunset through the haze and smoke from several bonfires in the olive groves. The staŕs only shone through the haze and clouds in patches.
The maximum temperature was 23.1c, the minimum was 13.3c.

Good morning from Sfakera where it is very humid, the sun struggling to breakthrough and Albania still hidden. A hint of breeze and 20c at 8.30am.
Yesterday was perfect for Steve and Jans ferry crossing but didnt turn out to be hottest day of year as forecast. Early on it was glorious but the humidity and clouds plus a light wind kept the temperature down. Mind you it was lovely sat at Nymphes watching Sfakera football in just t-shirt. No real sunset to speak off and few stars to be seen but so humid only a thin jumper was needed when out late evening.
The maximum temperature was 22.7c, the minimum was 13.1c.
Welcome back to Steve and Jan. Jan will resume the Roda forecast from tomorrow giving us the extra information re UVC and need for protection from the sun, which when out feels very hot.

Good morning from a warm but hazy Roda. It is lovely to be back and with such beautiful warm weather. There is quite a breeze causing a ruffles sea. It is very hazy with the tops of our hills lost in the mist and Albania absent on the horizon. As the morning progresses the sun is doing its best to break though and it promises to be another lovely day. Sorry the report is a tad late as we have lost phone and internet, welcome back to Corfu.
Yesterday was so hot and still. It was very humid with not a breath of wind, but cloudy. The sun breaking through thinner clouds to make it a very hot and pleasant day.. It was lovely to have the windows and doors widen open from first thing. The sea was like a mill pond during the day and one or two intrepid people were seen swimming off the beach in Roda. We watched from the warmth of the outdoor seating area at Pirates, which was well patronised. The haze persisted all day with Albania barely an outline on the horizon. There was a gentle breeze starting in the evening which marred the surface of the sea, but it was still hazy and the temperature was holding at 21°C even up to midnight.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Monday 16th April 2018 was 20.3°C, real feel 20°C, and the humidity 66% giving a comfortable dew point of 13°C.
Sorry I have no more records of last year's temperatures.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 25.5°C (real feel 27°C), and the minimum was 16.2°C , the dew point an uncomfortable 18°C. The maximum humidity was 73% and the minimum 54%.
The reported UV for today is 7 ( Range 1- 11+). The sun can really catch you out this early in the season. So if you are lucky enough to be here now please use that sunscreen.
UK range 1- 8 The UV Index does not exceed 8 in the UK (8 is rare; 7 may occur on exceptional days, mostly in the two weeks around the summer solstice).
The maximum temperature recorded by us in Roda in 2017 was 31.9°C (real feel 34°C) on 29th June The maximum recorded temperature ever in Corfu was 42.8°C The lowest recorded temperature was -8.8°C

Good morning from a warm but increasingly hazy Roda. , The haze is being caused by Saharan dust in the atmosphere. The visibility is now so bad that we cannot see Karousades, the hills behind us and of course Albania. The little spat of rain we had the other night left a film of dust over everything, camper and plants included. Whilst the wind is almost non-existent it will stay like this. The sun, however, is making a valiant effort to shine through the murk, but it is a bit cooler than the previous couple of days.
Yesterday stayed dry, but increasingly hazy with the sun breaking through from time to time. The sea remained flat calm, but too cold for me to swim in! In fact the day itself felt much cooler as it went on, definitely needed a cardigan for the walk back from the village at night. The stars did try and shine through the haze, adding to the wonderful display of the fireflies twinkling in our garden. They seemed to be at densest where our veggie plot is as it is still untamed after the winter.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Tuesday 17th April 2018 was 16.8°C, real feel 17°C, and the humidity 76% giving a comfortable dew point of 13°C.
Sorry I have no records of last year's temperatures.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 22.6°C (real feel 23°C), and the minimum was 16.5°C , the dew point an uncomfortable for some 17°C. The maximum humidity was 71% and the minimum 57%.

Good afternoon from Roda. Sorry about the late report but we had an unavoidable trip into Corfu town this morning. It remains warm and very hazy from the Saharan dust, though maybe not as thick as previously. Albania is still absent, and our hills and Karousades are just about visible. The sun is shining, but it is being filtered by all that dust. The wind is almost absent, but the calm sea from first thing this morning has changed to being slightly ruffled now the wind direction has changed a bit as it tends to do in the late afternoon. Some early tourists were watching their little boy enjoying himself splashing in the shallows.
Yesterday stayed warm and feeling humid all day, with the haze hanging on. It felt humid despite a comfortable dew point. Inside the bay at Roda the sea was flat calm, but slightly ruffled further out. There was no sunset as the sun isn't penetrating this dust very well, there wasn't even a change of colour! Again the evening had a slight chill to it, but the fireflies and the cicadas were enjoying themselves. It was still 17°C at midnight.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Wednesday 18th April 2018 was 17.4°C, real feel 17°C, and the humidity 79% giving a fairly comfortable dew point of 14°C.
Sorry I have no records of last year's temperatures.

Good morning from Roda. We have a much better picture this morning, with clear blue skies and decrease in the haze. Albania is still absent from the horizon, but our hills and Karousades have emerged from the thick haze, but not completely. The wind, again, is almost non-existent and the sea is blue and calm. Yesterday carried on as the previous days, still very hazy with the Saharan dust and no real wind to shift it. It felt slightly humid as we had high humidity all day. It is a nice warmth we have at the moment, very pleasant for moving about. The sun did try its best to shine, but wasn't able to produce more than a silvery disc. The evening felt a bit less chilly than the night before, as it was still 18°C at 11pm. We could hear a distant thunderstorm on the mainland, with thunder and lightning, but it was far enough away that we got no rain. Many of the cars here are covered in the red desert dust from the last rains.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Thursday 19th April 2018 was 17.8°C, real feel 18°C, and the humidity 81% giving a slightly humid dew point of 16°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is absolutely gorgeous here today. We awoke to clear blue skies and a much improved clarity. The high clouds of yesterday have disappeared. Though still touch hazy we can at least see Albania with a modicum of detail and Karousades is back in its rightful place on its ridge. The wind is still gentle and kind and the sea blue and calm. Not had a swim yet, but a paddle yesterday told me it might just be possible. It was delightful to eat breakfast on the balcony accompanied by riotous bird song and the plaintive call of the buzzards overhead. It is very warm in the sun belying the relatively cool shade temperatures. It was cool enough in the night to give of condensation on our windows and a heavy dew on the grass.
Yesterday was very pleasant again and we enjoyed an hour or so on the beach. The high UV of 7 was really felt now much of the dust has gone from the atmosphere. It even helped get our solar heated water back up to its usual summer hot temperature. There was enough clearance in the high cloud to give us a hint of a sunset. Well, there might have been more, but we were enjoying an early evening drink in Pirates as our dinner cooked so missed the start. The evenings are still mild with the temperature still around 18°C at the end of the day. The early visitors are having such good weather.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Friday 20th April 2018 was 18.3°C, real feel 18°C, and the humidity 76% giving a dew point of 14°C.

Good morning from Roda. Today is the first day that we can say that the dust has gone and normal service has resumed. The early morning thin clouds got quickly burnt off the leave clear blue skies and wall to wall sunshine. The air clarity seems so much better though still hazy, so that Albania is there but in not much detail and our hills are a bit obscured. The sea is calm looking and a beautiful shade of blue, but I can hear waves breaking on the shoreline. There is a gentle breeze stirring the washing on the line. Still trying to catch up after our trip. The humidity has been steadily dropping over the last couple of days giving a fresh feel to today.
Yesterday stayed clear and sunny all day with a bit of a breeze kicking in during the late afternoon. It had the decency to remove itself by later on in the evening. We spent some time on the beach, but didn't do more than paddle as the waves were a bit high along at Almyros. You can really feel that high UV and it won't be long before we have to take the parasol. We missed the sunset, but the evening was mild with a starry sky with a few clouds and a crescent moon. It was lovely to see the lights of the Albanian villages back, and even the lights around the bay being clear and bright. The lights of Episkepsi and the mountain hamlets were twinkling away on the hillside. It was still 19°C at 10pm.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Saturday 21st April 2018 was 19.3°C, real feel 19°C, and the humidity 63% giving a dew point of 12°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a beautiful morning here. There is a celestial blue sky with a few pretty white clouds dotted tastefully around it. The sea is mirroring the blue of the sky and looks and sounds calm. The pretty white horses we had yesterday have trotted over the horizon. There is a breeze which is feeling a bit cool at this time of the morning, and the humidity is up causing the haze that is hiding Albania cross the channel and obscuring the detail of the hills behind us. All I can here at the moment through our open door is the song and chatter of the birds, peaceful. At this time of year it can be quite noisy as all the preparation for the season gets underway what with strimmers, tractors and even pneumatic drills all adding their bit. We also get the vans going round calling out their wares on megaphones. At the moment it is mostly the fish monger, the poultry sellers and the fruit and veg men. Added to this you get the scrap metal buyers and those selling earthenware plant pots. In the villages you get the bread men as well, add to them you get vans selling clothes , bedding and mats and carpets. You stay put long enough and nearly everything comes passed near to you, in the right season.
Yesterday was beautiful all day. The sun shone from morning till night, setting in a soft and hazy sunset. The afternoon breeze sprung up as usual only to die away by evening. The sea was calmer despite pretty white horses prancing out to sea. Still not been in for a swim yet, but it will happen soon as we see swimmers nearly every day now. That high UV of 8 yesterday caught me out and I have a touch of sun burn. Silly me didn't heed my own advice. Going to stay covered up today. We had a lovely mild evening (18°C at 10pm), with a waxing crescent moon and only a few clouds to hide the stars. The fireflies were dancing away in our garden to the sound of the cicadas.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Sunday 22nd April 2018 was 17.2°C, real feel 18°C, and the humidity 75% giving a dew point of 12°C.

Good morning from Roda. It is a lovely calm morning here, the sky is blue with a few cotton wool ball clouds scattered around. The sea is a beautiful pale blue and so calm, due to the fact that there is barely a breath of wind. We have high humidity and quite a haze, with Albania just an outline on the horizon. The forecast for the next week is for much of the same with the temperature gradually rising.
Yesterday stayed beautiful and sunny and very warm if you could get out of the cool breeze. The sea looked a mite ruffled due to that breeze. Clouds gathered early afternoon to the south west towards Ipsos, but a change in the wind in the late afternoon saw them quickly disperse. The breeze then dropped early evening to give a flat calm sea to reflect the soft and hazy sunset over the headland at Roda Beach Hotel. The moon had progressed to almost half in the clear night sky.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Monday 23rd April 2018 was 16.9°C, real feel 17°C, and the humidity 79% giving a dew point of 14°C.
The maximum temperature this day last year was 15.7°C and the minimum 6.5, a dry day.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 18.5°C (real feel 19°C), and the minimum was 13.0°C , the dew point of 15°C. The maximum humidity was 78% and the minimum 67%.
The reported UV for today is very high at 8 ( Range 1- 11+). The sun can really catch you out this early in the season. So if you are lucky enough to be here now please use that sunscreen.

Good morning from Roda. It is another lovely morning here, the skies are clear, there is almost no breeze and the sea is calm. The humidity is high causing quite a lot of haziness, so Albania is just about present on the other side of the channel and Karousades is fading away. The shade temperature certainly doesn't mirror the heat in the sun with that high UV factor of 8. We didn't reach that high a factor until 5th. May last year! We are seeing the early season tourist sporting a beautiful shade of lobster.
Yesterday stayed beautiful all day, there was the persistent haze, but the wind that had been forecast failed to materialise except for the usual afternoon breeze. The sea remained lovely and calm and we got our first swim of the season. It was a little cold at first but was fine after a while and we managed a much longer swim than we first thought. I suppose we have no excuse now! The haze softened the sunset and the half moon came out to illuminate the evening. Though to be honest it was still dusk as we walked back from the village and the fireflies were only just thinking about starting their display.
The temperature at 10.00 am on Tuesday 24th April 2018 was 17.6°C, real feel 18°C, and the humidity 78% giving a dew point of 14°C.
The maximum temperature this day last year was 16.8°C and the minimum 8.1, a dry sunny day.
Yesterday's maximum temperature was 20.7°C (real feel 21°C), and the minimum was 13.8°C , the dew point of 17°C. The maximum humidity was 79% and the minimum 70%.
