It's the priests who get you to church, jools, but it's the coach drivers who get you to pray! ;D

Hi johnofish, John and I have experienced both coach and taxis. 3 years ago when it took us 4 hours to get to Roda from the airport(2 reasons, coast route and people getting off to smoke at each town) we decided on taxis. First year with Alpha, now I get lovely email magazine from the owner each month. Last year with Roda taxis, not good experience. First our taxi was 40mins late, car trouble, then he had to stop for petrol so we reached our apt 10mins before the coach. This year back to coach and hopefully the inland route. Bev.

Well I've just booked the shuttle bus at the amazing price of £67.68 return. We may get to Roda an hour or so later but we'll have enough money for a nosh up at Roda Grill when we eventually get there.

Kernowman I quite believe you have had no trouble. We booked with them because of the Roda connection and the praise from everyone on here. We also use them if we need a taxi whilst there. My point is we are not going to spend 50E plus tip on taxi fare that gets us there no quicker than the coach that is included in our package. Even if we get the coast route we will have fabulous scenery to look at.

I haven't looked yet Kath. I'm at Pirate's now and I have to do that from home. Will try to remember later, but I expect it to be the same as the figures I gave you before.

I have applied for a Santander Zero credit card to take on holiday. You can top it up with your spending money before you go and I have been assured that there will be absolutely no charges to withdraw the cash abroad. Our holiday is in August so I won't be able to confirm till then.

No the ATMs in Roda don't charge you for withdrawals, you just need to make sure you use the right card so your card issuer doesn't slap on extra charges.

Keeping up with the banks' latest offers is difficult. Does anyone else have experience of the Santander Zero card?

Just had my Nationwide statement, The cost for drawing out 300 euros was £6.30 in total, which is £2.10 per 100 euro which is 2.1%. The rate we got was 1.13 euro to the pound, i think the rate at N.S.K. at the time was about 1.11 or 1.12 less their commission, so nothing in it really. Think i'll stick with the card for safety reasons. pete.
