It would appear that Italian Grimaldi Group, who have a large stake in Minoan Ferries, have started the first major sea route linking the north of Italy, Sicily and Greece. Supposedly starting two weeks ago, the ferries link Genoa in the north of Italy to Catania in Sicily and then on to Igoumenitsa (for Corfu) & Patras. It would seem that you might have to change ships in Catania and, as yet, we have not found the service listed. We will continue to look.
For people who travel by road, this would be another link to Corfu.

According to the link; GRIMALDI LINES it does show a route on its map to Corfu but not on the route you described, so probably just an advertising picture. I have tried booking in for the journey as discribed above, but nothing comes up. There is a sailing from Italy to Scicily, but nothing linking from there to Corfu or mainland Greece as yet.

Thanks for checking, Chris, best laid plans and all that .... Maybe they will do something for the summer season as I know that Grimaldi are becoming an ever bigger presence in Italian/Greek routes.
