Just one year ago, we were delighted to announce that the Roda website had its first advertiser. For reasons beyond our control, they have now been removed but they will be represented again soon on this site. ‘Corfu Forward Planning’ typifies Roda in that its proprietors are a successful team of Greek and British people working together to offer a unique service to both locals and would-be residents. Emigration from the UK alone is currently running at the highest level since numbers were first recorded 16 years ago. In 2007, 400,000 people moved out, with some 45,000 going to France, Germany & Greece. Similar situations exist in many northern European countries and, being the most northerly of all the Greek islands, Corfu is a favourite destination. Roda has some special qualities that bring visitors back year after year and many of them do eventually retire here. Of course, even in the UK, building your own home is stressful and fraught with problems. In Greece you can add to that the language issue and a different way of doing things. ‘Corfu Forward Planning’ understand the systems operating on the island and, of course, they do speak Greek. 90% of the work they do involves securing plots of land, many with building plans fully approved before the customer ever walks through the door. In this way, as soon as an agreement is reached, a realistic completion date can be quoted. Nothing is promised that is not achievable, there are no hidden costs and everyone knows exactly where they stand. By going the extra distance for their customers and deliberately confining themselves to a small area centred on Roda, Lisa, Spiros & Adonis offer an impressive package. They are passionate not only about building houses, but about building a reputation for honesty, quality and value for money. CFP can be contacted by clicking on this link: CORFU FORWARD PLANNING

We recently spent half a day with Lisa & Spiros, looking at plots of land, new builds , part built houses (to get a feel for the constructuion methods etc) and future off plan developements. Nothing was too much trouble for them, they answered every question we had , fully & honestly. We will certainly consider using them in the (hopefully) not too distant future, when we look at building our dream home in the sun. pete.

I am not sure if you noticed that we would like to come over to Kerkyra too. , I think its all over the forum now At the dutch television we have a `KRO` programme called` I am leaving..`) like `Living in the sun`at BBC . And at the 13 th of november they will be telling the story of someone leaving for Kerkyra, so I am very curious as you can imagine. Maybe I can learn about their experiences, because they start filming and following the family when they are still at home preparing for the big `move`. It´s very obvious I can learn the most out of the mistakes they make. We will be making them as well I think, but well ,the more I learn the less mistakes I make I am sure! Maybe we can learn from eachothers experiences aswell.. I am not sure if we have the same expectations about coming to greece, or even age and familycomposition. But if you want, you can tell me all about your experiences .... and I will tell you all about the tv/ program ,after november 13th that is. greetings from holland, petra

Announcement: TONIGHT the Dutch television is showing the programme I was referring to before. I am not sure if you can receive Dutch television in Greece or the UK ? It's on:
Nederland 1 (channel) TROS Television Time (Dutch time) : 21.30 h. Name of the programme:"Ik vertrek" ( I am leaving)
The story is about a Dutch family coming to Corfu ,trying to start a new life . They want(ed) to earn a living by exploiting a luxurious villa with swimmingpool and a sailingship. I am not sure if the story has a "happy end".

This is the website of the family moving to Kerkyra: www.corfuunlimited.comThey live in Ano Korikiana, their boat is in a big harbour (might be Kondokali, not sure) and the villa is somewhere in the mountains (above Ipsos? ) I am not sure (but hope for them of course) if they are going to make it, looking at the prices they charge ...... Maybe tomorrow I can post the link to the internet of the tv programme ( if you missed the broadcast)

I learned that they live in KATO karokiana, and the harbour is Gouvia I think. If you want to see the broadcast, go to: player.omroep.nl/?aflID=8246548Pete,or Steve/Julie , Do you think there are many rich people coming to Kerkyra? There might be some more of those big villas for rent at the island, but not sure if there's a market for this business... If we would come over , we would like to (start a business that) provide(s) the people of Roda (or the region) and the tourists with something they don't already have. That's what Kosta from Roda park advised us as well last summer, "bring something from your country". Do you know what Roda needs??? I could start a new topic asking the forummembers just that....(am I allowed to do so???)

I have a question too: A few years ago the BBC were on the island of Corfu for "Living in the sun". I looked all over the internet but couldn't find it. Does anyone have a link to the broadcast of that programme ?

Hi Petra, there are a number of companys that cater for the "top" end of the market - expensive private villas with pools - some even provide a chef to cook for you ! There will always be a market for this type of holiday as the more well off people do not seem to suffer from the credit crunch the same as us mere mortals - do your homework on any venture before you decide which is best for you. good luck. pete.

Soon there will be an episode of "A place in the sun" at Channel4 about Corfu: 10th of december 8.00 am and 3.00 pm and 26th of december 9.30 am and 3.30 pm , about A family Rice looking for a holidayhome in Corfu. Does anyone know if there is something like the dutch site "uitzending gemist" (see above)? , so I can have a look on the internet and see the broadcast afterwards too ??

Hi Nikki, sorry you weren't there last onlinefgt. I am waiting for a job, should hear anyday about it..... And you are right, today I certainly have my `no/life`day. This morning I found out about the music concerts of Remos and Xatzigiannis in the "low lands". and I have a lot of friends who mail me at Hotmail and via Hyves (Facebook) and special kerkyra/corfuforums too. Don't you have them in the UK, information ("startpages" ) pages about greece??? And someone mentioned the tvprogramme to me this morning. Should be earning my money by PRing for greece/ kerkyra/ and roda, that would be nice!!!
