This is an advance warning of a future change in requirements for a citizen of the UK to enter Greece be it for a short, trip, business, holiday or any longer stay of up to 90 days maximum. Known as ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System). You apply for it online and once obtained it will be valid for a period of 3 years entitling entry as many times as you like as long as they do not exceed 90 days. Initially it will cost €7 (no cost for those under 18 nor over 70 but they still need to apply for the form).
Note the Country you apply for (say Greece) has to be the first Country you enter on leaving the UK so if you are travelling by car you would need to apply for France or Belgium. You can then enter from there all Countries of the Schengen Agreement plus EU Countries not party to Schengen. If you take other holidays or visit any European Country directly from the UK you will need a separate form for each Country you go directly too. I copy below some questions and answers to give you full information to date. Once the system is up and running around September 2023 I will provide the final details so you can proceed to obtain your form. Of course if you just come here for holidays you wont need to apply until shortly before you leave to come in 2024. You will of course still need your Passport.
If you wish to stay for periods longer than 90 days ( be it for holiday’ work or study) then you must apply for a Residency Permit once here in Greece so you will need this form to use until such time as you obtain the Residency Permit which will probably mean you having to return to the UK after 90 days before coming back at a later date (unless you arrange an appointment for your 1st week after arrival which should you have everything to satisfy them you maybe lucky to get your application processed within 90 days…….though I don’t think many will be lucky enough to achieve this. So the recommendation would be that you obtain a Residency Permit during 2023. If you already hold a ‘blue card’ residency card you will need to reapply for the new bio-metric Residency. I will post the procedure for this application in a separate thread shortly so that you can get together all the paperwork needed and make your initial appointment with the Immigration Office.

When travelling, you must present your ETIAS at the border crossing in Greece for border control to scan. When Will ETIAS for Greece Be Operational? This includes questions about your identity, travel document, educational and professional background, and travel history or previous criminal charges. 2. Select Greece as the first country of entry. After you have your ETIAS, you can travel to all Schengen States, but you must enter through the country you select as the point of entry, which in this case is Greece. 3. Pay the ETIAS fee. 4. Wait a few minutes to receive your ETIAS. *ETIAS National Units will be established in each member country, and they are responsible for deciding on application outcomes. The ETIAS system will check your information on several databases, such as the Schengen Information System (SIS), Europol and Interpol databases, and other watchlists and risk indicators. If you are not considered a risk, you will receive your ETIAS and can travel to Greece as many times as you want within the next three years. Your Greece ETIAS application may be refused only if you provide fraudulent information or if you are on the ETIAS watchlist database. This includes individuals who have committed a crime or are thought to be a danger to society, such as war criminals, terrorists and suspected terrorists. If your application is refused, you have the right to appeal the decision within the set deadline. Greece’s ETIAS Unit will notify you about the law under which your application was refused, where you have to submit your appeal, and when the deadline for appeals is. Because your ETIAS is refused once, it does not automatically affect future applications, provided that the conditions that led to the initial refusal have changed.
