There was a nasty accident a few days ago when a visitor returning to the Coral hotel aroun 3am in the morning leant on the railing of the bridge by the carpark, commonly called the smelly bridge, it was the railing on the landward side. The railing gave way and the gentleman fell into the water and was taken to hospital for examination for a back injury and retuned to the hotel the same day.
I would like to make people aware that the railings are not that safe, both rails are not supported for their whole length. The hollow tubes can also be where wasps have their nests.
The terrapins and fish are a great attraction especially for children, so can you all take extra care please.

I noticed last night that some warning tape had been put on the seaward rails of the bridge between the carpark and Makris apartment. Also some bubblewrap had been tied over the end of one of the rails, probably because of a wasp's nest. The landward side has had the ground-level barbed wire removed from the carpark side. Again please take care and don't lean on either of the rails.

Warning tape has now been added to the other rails on the carpark bridge. Hopefull we'll get some repairs done soon, but more likely to be a winter projerc.

When I was walking into the village last night I saw that there had been an attempt to strenghthen the dodgy joints on the bridge with welding with the weakest ones having been done. Warning tape has also be added as an extra precaution.

The council have been along and welded extra supports into the bridge. It feels extremely solid now. All that needs to be done is replace the rusty barbed wire on one side. Hopefull we'll seee no more accidental falls into the stream. Although there is a lot of green weed on the top, underneath there are a lot of nursery fish and hatching dragon and damsel flies, so it's not as dirty as it's reputaion.

The council workmen have been and welded and bolted some more fencing to the side of the existing handrials on this bridge, meaning it would be difficult to fall into the stream. I must admit it was a long time coming.
