I was surprised to see work going on a the former Pixida restaurant at the crossroads. The windows have been covered and the tiles outside being ripped up. I will try and find out what is happening there, but so pleased to see it being developed.
The former Vibe is being knocked down from the front, and I haven't found out what is happening there, but, again, will try and find out.
The new builds at the Theodoros resort are progressing well with the painters in at least one of them, and work progressing on the terrace of apartments.
There is a new delux % bed 6 bathroom villa been built behind the shops at the end of the main street next to the Villa Jolie, the Villa Ami.
Sandy has put her business up for sale at 30K as she feels it's time for her to take things easier now. I do hope someone takes it one as it would leave only the two restauarnts left in what once was the busiest street in Roda.

There is a new craft shop at the old Loft Car place by the ATM. Shortly there will also be a Fish and Chip shop there too (in my opinion that sort of shop should be nearer the beach but we will see how it does).
The barber shop near the traffic lights is moving down the road next to Pixida. There will also be a new coffee shop there and a clothes shop too.
Roda is certainly expanding its shops.......Greece seem to love coffee shops but if I look at those in Acharavi they always seem to be fairly busy so maybe there cannot be too many of them as it seems at times.

There is a lot of activity happening around Roda and its neighbour Acharavi. General maintenance of the decking that has been damaged during the winter storms, especially at Pirates, Alexandros in the village and Seaport. Work is carrying on apace at Theo’s new builds, and Angelina has building material stacked in the garden. The fish and chip shop now has the glass front in place and is looking very smart. The former Vibe has been gutted but I don’t know what is happening there, but there is a lot of building material in front of it and the supermarket next door. The little shop on the opposite corner to the Dolphin has been gutted and Floyd tells me it will be a tourist shop. Roxannes has a cement mixer and debris outside the main building, apparently they are moving their kitchen into the shop next door that used to sell leather goods. The travel shop next to the Dolphin will now be an olive wood shop. The barber shop, Straw Hat, by the top bus stop is moving into the former Pixida site and will also be a coffee shop and selling clothes.
In Acharavi the launderette Bubbles has moved to the former restaurant behind Masoutis (the former Dimetra), next to the olive wood shop on road 6. Da Gino’s has been taken over by Giogos ex Neraida and will be called Totem. Neraida beeach taverna has been incorporated into Acharavi Beach Hotel. The icecream shop opposite Mr Coffee is to be a cocktail bar. Work is still ongoing at the Lemon Tree. Kaziannis is expanding into the former Ginger next door with homewares.

Angelina still has ongoing work at her apartments. The only thing I can see is an extension on the roof to make another apartment.

Around the village in general holiday apartments are being opened up and groundsmen are starting to tidy up the gardens after the winter. Pirates has vanished its decking and tables and yesterday they were all back in place complete with their parasols. Roberto at Seaport was bust replacing his decking, today he was being supervised by his other half. Crusoes seems to be working on the roof over the pool table area, and Makis and Elizabeth had their gates open. Floyd was busy at work at the Dolphin and I have seen activity at The Yacht Club. I haven't heard anything about Big Ben yet. The village is full of the sounds of activity as it starts to prepare for the coming season.

And changes too at the Drunken Sailor where Alex is busy smashing down the walls by the bar to the front. Be interesting to see what change is being made when the work is finished.

During the time I was away there have been several improvements done around the village. Sveral beachside bars and restaurants have completely replaced their wooden decking as it does take a bit of a hammering with the sun and the wild winter weather. There is new decking at the Brandy Shop, Crusoes, Seaport and Alexandros. New glass doors have been fitted in the rstaurant at Seaport making it look very smart. I know they have done work on their kitchen over the winter. The vacant shop opposite the Dolphin is now an empty shell having been completely gutted, and the exterior of the addion to Roxanne's is looking good in keeping with the rest of the bar. We have acquired four new rescue boats which may have been a legacy from the late Stamatis (Pirates).
Theo's builders are working all hours to get the new buildings ready with the top soil now in place round the older ones. It will look good when finished and he can breathe a sigh of relief. Angelina's still has to do a final tidy up and the proposed fish and chip business and the shop next door look still in progress but near completetion. Everywhere the painters are out, gardens being tidied and final touches being added. Tables and chairs are appearing in the restaurants that are still closed and sunbeds are appearing on the beaach. Pirates as usual is up and running with the sunbeds and decking all ready with the kitchen opn until 10pm. Drosia is open every day and there is a grill rommopen every day but Agrillia is closed until the start of the season and Crazy Forks still only open at weekends. Not long now to the start of the 2023 season, but there are a good few tourist already here and more arriving every day.

On my evening walk into the village I couldn’t ignore the last minute rush to get everything ready for the official start of the season. Trying to keep it in order. Nino’s has new decking fitted as well as new gates and the gardeners have been busy as it is all looking very nice.
Ammos has been getting pressure washed in readiness for its opening around the end of the first week in May.
The Coral Hotel has built a very large deck at the side of the restaurant and the parasols are now in place.
The Brandy Shop, Myltos has been busy and the decking is in place with pretty plants in pots on the edge. The furniture has all been washed in readiness.
There are signs of life at Spiros supermarket and the garden next door is so tidy.
Jon at the Boathouse is painting everything in sight.
Alex and Sarah are busy at Crusoes with an ever-increasing pile of debris at the side.
Crazy Forks is ready apart from the outside dining across the road. Seaport is a hive of activity and a glimpse inside shows new doors.
Floyd has been busy redecorating the Dolphin and their apartments and it's all looking very smart.
The little shop next to Agas jewellers is being tiled out.
Roxannes news extension has been tiled out in very nice black and white ones. It should look stunning.
Skouna- Dimitris and his dad are hard at worked aided and abet by Laura.
Aphrodite has emptied its pool and reinstalled the privacy wall. There is also a lot of activity around the hotel itself.
The fish and chip shop appears to be at a standstill with the shop next door.
The Drunken Sailor is ready after a reconfiguration of the interior space.
Mistral is standing gutted with rooms over it also gutted. A JCB is living in front of it at the moment.
Alexandros Pool is now open full time as is Sandy’s Bar down the lane.
Roda Park and Niko’s have tables and chairs in place, ready.
Agrillia is doing some work on its kitchens.
The new-builds at Theos are continuing to come on, but a lot of work still to be done. Angelina has a bit of tidying up to do. The whole village is ringing to the sound of pressure washers and chain saws. As always at this time of year if you stand still you will be washed down and painted! The 2023 season is just days away.

We are now approaching the start of the 2023 season and the village is a hive of activity. Most restaurants and bars have now advertised when they are openning, with the vast majority open by the 2nd May. Alexandros in the village is always a little behind everyone else, and I've not heard about Alexandros on the beach, but would imagine that is openning in line with everyone else as the all-inclusive is openning soon.
At Theodoros's new villas the gardens are being made ready on the large villas with furniture being unpacked inside ready for their first guests on the 15th May, as I understand it. The terrace villas are not that far behind, and there will be a second phase of villas next year each with a plunge pool.
The Coral has put in a nice paved area alongside the new decking and has laid new pavement along the width of the garden areaa for ease of access.
Roda Pearl has upgraded some of its rooms to a very high standard. It is loevly to see the older holiday apartments being revitalised and modernised to better suit what the holiday makers expect these days.
I found out last night that the fish and chip shop was just a rummour and is in fact an office. But most of the restaurants do them, with Oscars and Pirates especially coming to mind. Am heading to Oscars tonight for a large plate of fish and chips.
The village is holding its first festival (panayiri) for about four years, as covid intervened and nothing happened last year. The weather isn't looking very good for it, as Lucy siad at Niko's the Roda festival is always fated. I remember the last one, it was so cold!

The new tourist shop, next to Agas jewellers, which has been a shell for as long as I can remember has opened and looks bright, clean and modern.
Pirates bar has opened a watersports attraction with paddleboards and canoes. Kostas will be doing that as well as his DJ'ing in the evening.
Paddleboarding is becoming quite popular here as we often have lovely calm water. Paddleboards can also be hired at the Coral and at Roda Beach Hotel as far as I know.

There were quite a few people paddling around the bay early this afternoon enjoying themselves.
