So today Sfakera won 1-0 away to the team bottom of the league, in Lefkimmi, to remain 7th in the league. No report as I wasn't at the game.
The winning goal was scored by Lee. Apparently though bottom of league Dragonita have signed several new players and are now a better team than in the first half of season.

The sun had broken through by the time the game kicked off at 11am this morning but a chill wind was blowing down through the olive groves behind the stand. The first action was a Sfakera free kick in a central position some 30 metres out; it was caught by the goalkeeper. Shortly after Sfakera regained the ball; a nice move on the left, a shot which the goalkeeper pushed for a corner. This the first of 4 corners in succession all cleared; following the last the visitors broke and seeing Nikos outside his box tried a long shot but it was well wide. In the 5th minute Sfakera again passed the ball well and found Eri free at the near post to make it 1-0. Sfakera continued to dominate with the visitors having the odd breakaway; in the 12th minute a deep free kick as headed wide; 14th the ball fell to Eri some 20 metres out but the shot was high. A visitors free kick in the 15th was dropped by Nikos and poked into the net but the linesman was flagging offside. Next minute again Nikos well off his line but the shot was again wide of the target. In the 20th Sfakera had a free kick which the goalkeeper drop for a corner that was cleared; 23rd the goalkeeper caught another free kick into the box; 24th the ball broke into the box and a Sfakera shot was saved by the goalies feet and cleared. The visitors then attacked; got a free kick some 30 metres out and Nikos had to tip it over for a corner; that was overhit and went out for a throw on the opposite wing. In the 32nd an odd incident; visitors a throw in own defensive quarter; to the goalkeeper who picked it up! Indirect free kick to Sfakera, rolled wide and shot but it went out for a throw in!! the visitors then broke in the 35th minute and a lob into the box was punched clear; the follow up shot was straight to Nikos. In the 39th Sfakera should have doubled their lead; a good through ball found Eri 1 on 1 but the goalkeeper made a smart save that was cleared. Two more shots followed in quick succession, one just wide and the other too high. In the 42nd a long ball into the box and the defender just got there before Eri but his touch was tipped by the diving keeper for a corner to prevent an own goal. From the corner a Sfakera header hit the bar and was cleared for another corner which the goalkeeper punched clear. In the last few seconds of the half a long shot by Sfakera was tipped for a corner; the deep corner found Pano unmarked to poke home at the back post; 2-0 at Half Time.
A quick start to the second half saw Sfakera have a snap shot as the goalkeeper was out of position but it was miss hit and siled high over. Shortly afer Sfakera had a free kick out wide left but it went over everyone and out for a goal kick. Following a throw in the 49th Eri turned and shot; the ball hit the post and was cleared. The next minute a long range Sfakera shot was just wide. In the 52nd the goalkeeper dropped a 27 metre Sfakera free kick but recovered just before Eri could get in a shot. In the 56th the visitors had a long shot, it bunced awkwardly and Nikos pushed it for a corner; the ball low into the box wasn't cleared and the striker scored; 2-1. Just 2 minutes later the visitors lost possession on the right, Nikos (midfielder) picked it up and fired into the goal 3-1. 62nd Sfakera substitute a defender for similar. 67th Alex miss time a tackle out wide right catching the player and received a yellow card; he cleared the free kick. Sfakera broke and in the 69th a cross into the box found Nikos, he was blocked so laid the ball to Pano whose shot was headed away. Next minute the visitors has a player cautioned; from the free kick Sfakera headed straight at the keeper. In the next attack Jonathan had a shot blocked and Eri couldn't control the follow up which went harmlessly out for a goal kick. Int the 72nd a speculative shot from 35 metres by Nikos was saved by the goalkeeper diving near his post. 74th Alex was substituted for Yiannis who went into midfield with Costas dropping back to defence. 75th a Sfakera attack was cleared for a corner; again Sfakera got a head to the ball but it went over. In the 78th the visitors broke quickly but 2 players were offside. In the 80th the visitors had a central free kick 22 metres out; it hit the wall and the follow up shot was straight at Nikos. Sfakera then subbed Eri. In the 85th minute a long shot from Sfakeras right wing was tipped for a corner; before it was taken Sfakera subbed Pano for Costas; the corner again headed wide. Costas had a great chance in the 87th following a defensive error but dragged his shot wide. The game then petered out without any further chances.
Full Time 3-1 to Sfakera; a comfortable win. Attendance 49.

Hello; yes sorry bit late with report. The game was played at Nymphes on Saturday afternoon with a 3:30pm kick off in front of 32. The weather was perfect; a few clouds around but sunny with a gentle breeze.
The visitors were Vitalades who are 6th in the league and they had the first chance in the 3rd minute; seeing the Sfakera goalkeeper off his line a long range shot was fired in going just over. There next attempt in the 6th minute was well wide. Sfakera had their first effort on goal in the 8th minute when a long shot by Pano was well saved by the goalkeeper conceding a corner. From the corner the referee awarded a free kick to the defence. In the 10th the visitors sent in a deep free kick which the goalkeeper gathered. Sfakera were not getting much of the ball in forward positions and had to wait until the 19th for their next attack but a lack of control gave the ball to the defence to clear. In the 21st the visitors were given a corner when it should have been a goalkick; it was partly cleared, the follow up shot was over the bar. A bad foul on Sfakera, requiring treatment, but no caution in the 24th; the deep free kick was headed by Rizzo but went just wide. In the 26th the visitors had a deep free kick; it was aimed at the back post; Nikos got no where near it and the ball hit the post and fell into the goal.....0-1. In the 32nd a great through ball by Sfakera was chased down by Eri but he was adjudged to have just failed to keep it in play on the bye line. in the 36th again Nikos was no where near a free kick into the box and the header went wide. Next minute the visitors tried a 45 metre shot which Nikos tipped over for a corner; that was overhit and went out for a goal kick on the far side. In the 42nd minute the ball was in the Sfakera defensive box; twice they failed to clear and a forward was able to poke in a goal...0-2. Half Time.
In the second half the visitors tended to sit back and rely on counter attacks or long range free kicks into the penalty area. Their first chance was a header following a free kick in the 48th which went wide. in the 56th Sfakera had a good shot; it was well saved but the linesman ruled Sfakera were offside. In the 61st another chance to get back into the game but the shot was well saved. In the 72nd minute the ball fell fortunately to a visiting player and he scored for a 0-3 lead. The visitors scored a 4th in the 82nd minute; it was clearly offside but not flagged. A few minutes later Sfakera were ruled offside when clearly not. These late decisions had no bearing on the final result. 0-4.
Sfakera drop to 8th in the league. They are 2 points behind the 7th placed team who they play away next weekend.

A crowd of 53 attended sun drenched Nymphes today for the midday kick off against league leaders Paleo. There was a light wind. Jonathan Banos was out injured.
A bad start by Sfakera who conceded a goal after just 2 minutes; a long ball by the visitors and a striker just about stayed onside as he ran through to lob Nikos to score. In the 5th minute Nikos elected to punch instead of catch the ball - unfortunately he was to have a difficult afternoon - and the ball went out wide. The visitors cross into the box was missed by all and went for a throw in on the opposite side. Sfakeras first chance came in the 11th minute; a deep free kick was going towards two Sfakera players at the back post but Eri gave the defender a nudge which was spotted by the referee. Another free kick seconds later to Sfakera some 28 metres out in a central position was put just wide by Rizzo. In the 20th a long ball by Paleo was being chased down and Nikos near edge of box missed his attempted punch but fortunately the strikers header went wide. The resulting goal kick was very poor giving Paleo possession, the shot was curled just high and wide. A similar break by Paleo two minutes later again had Nikos running off his line towards the edge of the box; this time the strikers foot was very high and caught Nikos on the chest. Surprisingly the striker wasn't cautioned. Nikos recovered but was shaken and next time the ball came his way in the 25th minute he failed to hold it but the ball bobbled and was cleared. Paleo were dominating the game now and Sfakera rarely got into the final third of the pitch. In the 28th Paleo had a shot from inside the box that was high over the bar; 32nd a corner that was headed clear. In the 36th a Paleo substitute was cautioned by the referee while sat in the dug out for dissent; he had been warned by the referee previously. Another corner to the visitors shortly after was cleared for a throw in; play from the throw was stopped and Sfakera cleared the ball. Following a challenge on a Paleo player on the touch line near half way there was again dissent by a Paleo player and another caution. Finally in the 40th Sfakera had a break but the ball was cleared for a corner. Pano took it and found Nikos near the back post but he didn't get enough on the header and the ball was gathered by the goalkeeper at the second attempt. In the 42nd Sfakera played a neat move and a good pass from Pano put Nikos through; unfortunately he had to stretch for his touch and the ball wasn't controlled and ran to the goalkeeper but Sfakera had finished the half strongly. HT 0-1.
Like the first half, Paleo started the second strongly with a first minute shot that was cleared for a corner. Nikos came for the ball but failed to reach it and it was headed into goal 0-2 to Paleo. In the 48th Paleo broke through but this time were flagged offside. In the 50th minute an odd incident; Rizzo got the ball in his own half but the lineswoman correctly flagged him offside as he had come back from being offside in the opponents half. The free kick which should have been taken in the defensive half of the pitch was taken 5 metres in the attacking half and the referee didn't seem to mind!! In the 53rd minute a long clearance by Nikos was missed by Rizzo in the air; Eri ran in behind him but his foot was raised in the challenge and he was cautioned. Paleo had a free kick 35 metres out but it was shot well wide. In the 55th Paleo broke down the wing cutting into the penalty area; Alex cleared for a corner; the Paleo player stayed on the ground having turned his ankle falling. He was helped off the pitch. From the corner Paleo had a headed shot that went wide. The injured player plus one other were then substituted. In the 59th minute Sfakera had a chance to get back in the game; a free kick 27 metres out to the right of centre. Pano shot round the wall; the ball didn't curl as much as hoped and nobody at the back made a run to try and get in a shot and the ball went a couple yards wide. In the 61st minute a lovely move by Sfakera; Alex to Pano on the wing, he played a one two and his cross from the bye line found Nikos whose shot was just over the bar. Just a minute later it was 0-3 as again Nikos failed to get to a cross by Paleo, sliding in with his feet rather than diving in with his hands and the ball fell kindly to give the striker a tap in. Almost immediately from the kick off the ball fell to Paleo 40 metres from goal and seeing Nikos off his line they shot; fortunately it went just wide. Sfakera briefly rallied but a 30 metre shot was high and wide in the 65th minute; from the goal kick Sfakera regained possession and Alex played a good ball to Nikos running down the channel; his shot on the turn was well hit but the goalkeeper made a good diving save. Paleo made a 3rd substitution in the 67th minute and shortly after they broke. The winger cut in on the bye line and his shot from an acute angle hit the base of the post and the follow up shot was wide. In the 71st minute a Paleo free kick on the left edge of the penalty area some 25 metres from goal was punched away poorly by Nikos to a striker but his shot went over the bar. The 73rd minute Sfakera made a substitution bring on Costas for Pano; Paleo made their 4th substitution at the same time. Next minute Paleo have a shot from 25 metres, Nikos dived to save but didn't gather the ball and a striker was able to roll the ball into goal 0-4. Sfakera brought on Dionisis for Nikos up front. Before one could breath it was 0-5; a long through ball the defender didn't challenge for a header thinking the ball would go through to Nikos but the striker got there first and headed it over him into the goal. In the 77th minute Sfakera almost scored a consolation goal; Costas taking a free kick on the right edge of the penalty area hit the top of the bar with the ball going over for a goal kick. Another Sfakera shot a minute later was just wide. Then there was a caution for Costas following a mistimed challenge. In the 82nfd minute the visitors broke; Alex challenged and the forward went to ground more in hope than fouled. The referee gave the free kick some 24 metres out centrally. It was cooly kicked over the wall into the goal with Nikos left flat footed. 0-6. Just two minutes later it was 0-7; a deep free kick from the centre circle resulted in a shot that was blocked, then another and it again fell to a Paleo player who miss hit his shot but it bobbled into the goal. The referee decided to save Sfakera further punishment and blew for full time early rather than restart the game.
Full time 0-7. Sfakera to be fair whilst not playing as well as they can could look to some poor errors leading to several of the goals giving a result much worse than they deserved. They remain 8th in the league well clear of the teams below them with just 2 games left to play. Next week it is a long trip to Spartilas up in the hills just to the south of Benitses.

It was grey as I walked to Nymphes today for a 4:30 pm kick off. Start to rain as I get to village centre but just light. As I reach ground so the heavens opened and within 10 minutes there were large puddles all over the Astroturf. I just missed a right soaking and the weather kept the crowd down to just 19. The goalmouths had puddles in them and the touchlines were sodden; the visibility was so bad you couldn't see the tops of the hills. The rain had eased off by the kick off. The visitors were Ag Athanasiou who are second bottom of the league with just 7 points...…….they started the game with just 10 players.
The game started despite the surface water which held up the ball at times and resulted in many a missed pass. The first 10 minutes saw Sfakera have a couple tame shots at the goalkeeper and three corners; two were cleared and the third resulted in a miss timed header that the goalkeeper gathered. The visitors had their first shot in the 11th after a Sfakera pass stopped in a puddle to give them the opportunity but the shot went over. Sfakera then had a shot just wide and a cross into the box from the bye line but nobody was there. The rain was getting heavier again as Sfakera wasted several chances with poorly hit shots going well wide. In the 22nd minute there was a Sfakera corner but it was miss hit and cleared; however they quickly regained possession and fed Eri in the box; his shot hit the side netting. The rain eased and there was a hint of sun as Sfakera were caught offside twice before curling a shot wide in the 30th minute. The visitors then had a free kick some 40 metres out but the ball went through to the goalkeeper. Rizzo was then blown for offside, the ball rolled through the goalies legs and he scored. The referee cautioned him for not stopping when he whistled. In the 33rd minute the visitors broke and from a central position some 30 metres out a shot went in off the post with Nikos stranded to give them a lead against the run off play. Just two minutes later a long pass found Eri in behind the full back; his shot went in off the post to make it 1-1. Straight from the re-start Sfakera won possession and fed Lee whose shot was well saved for a corner that was cleared. In the 41st another Sfakera pass stuck in a puddle giving the visitors a shot from 30 metres which hit the outside of the post. As half time approached Sfakera again gave away the ball and a 25 metre shot skidded off the wet surface and went into the goal off the diving Nikos. Half time and it was 1-2 to the 10 men.
The second half started in sunshine and it took just a minute for Sfakera to break down the wing to the bye line and pull the ball back for Rizzo to curl his shot into the corner to make it 2-2. Just a minute later and another chance but this time Rizzo failed to control the ball and it was gathered by the goalkeeper. In the 49th Sfakera broke and crossed; there were 3 forward to receive it but Rizzo missed his shot and it was cleared for a corner; this time a header was cleared for another corner taken short and flagged offside when returned to the taker. ANother chance in the 51st minute when Rizzo got in a header from Lee's cross but the goalkeeper made a good save. In the 63rd minute the visitors had a corner; it wasn't taken until a late arriving 11th player entered the pitch. The corner was cleared and Sfakera then made a substitution bring on Costas for the young full back. In the 65th minute a nice passing move saw Pano feed Rizzo whose shot hit the post and went for a goal kick. Shortly after Lee miss hit a shot when well placed 25 metres out that went well wide. There was a stoppage for a visiting player who collapsed on the pitch; he did return to the game some 4 minutes later. Sfakera had a couple more corners but they came to nothing. In the 74th minute Nikos fumbled a very long shot; the ball dropped between his legs but fortunately didn't roll and he gathered it at the second attempt. The 76th minute saw a good cross met by Rizzo but his header was wide. Another great passing move 2 minutes later resulted in a pull back from the bye line and Pano ran onto it to poke home to give Sfakera the lead. In the 82nd minute the visitors were penalised for a foul throw; Sfakera quickly threw to Lee who crossed into the centre and was met at the back post by the attacking full back to give Sfakera a 4-2 lead. Dionisis then came on for Rizzo. In the 83rd minute the visitors had a free kick out wide left; they had 3 against 1 at the back off the box but they took a shot instead that was wide. As the clock ran down the visitors had two corners that were cleared by Sfakera and a free kick in a central position but nearly 37 metres out that went well wide. The final whistle went giving Sfakera a 4-2 win to remain in 8th place in the league.

This is the final league table before the playoffs...……..Paleo won the league by 4 points but it was a close run thing as the final game of their season just happened to be away to unbeaten Marathias…...the winner would win the league as just one point separated them. Paleo won 3-2 to take the title and promotion. Sfakera are not involved in the playoffs and so their season is now finished.
