Anyone wanting to cheer on our local team from Roda & Sfakera, should go to the football ground at Nymfes on Thursday afternoon - kick-off 4:30. I think I’m right in saying we need to beat Perivoli by three clear goals to get to the finals. It’s a big match so a bit of support might help.

There a lot of people we all know playing in tomorrow’s match, Malc., even Jonathan Banos whose suspension is now over! (Noodle may be there as a mascot). Amongst the team & supporters are Jonathan, Miltos from Brandy Shop, Paul from JJ’s, Danny from Nino’s, the waiter from Kormoranos, Spiros (Jami’s boyfriend), Adonis from Alexandros and more if I could only remember them! It seems that they are sponsored by Palia Skouna.
We’ll be going, so more news tomorrow ...

Although the local lads took control of the second half, they couldn’t make any impression on the result. In these pics, Adonis chases a pass in the early stages, Jon clears a ball down the right wing, Alex is ever alert for an opportunity and the pressure is on for a consolation goal in the closing stages.

Sad to say the final score line was even worse, they lost 4, 0 on aggregate, having lost the previous leg 2, 0 . We will certainly try and get to more games next season, getting to the semi- finals is very impressive. I was surprised at how good the ground was at Nymphes. It had been hewn out of the hillside with very pleasant views across the valley. The artificial turf was in very good condition, and there was high netting around the valley side, which didn't prevent at least one ball sailing over it down into the unknown!. There was a bank of seating on one side of the pitch and very modern looking changing facilities for the teams and the officials. There was even a small booth selling coffees, soft drinks ( not sure about alcohol, as the Greeks seem to prefer coffee etc.) and snacks! There was a collection near the end of the match for what we didn't know, but it would have been rude to have not contributed.

Heracles F.C.
John Bananas at the Boathouse is selling calendars for 2017 forthe team at 5 euros each. It will help the team to financial compete and like the cricket team who recently won the Corfu Cup its essential for all us who love sport to recognise what they are trying to do.
In a few weeks arriving there is a set of football strips I have spare at my club to help them.
Maybe you if you are going have anything useful for them it won't be refused.

Sfakera 0 Moritaka 1 about 60 inclding 20 visiting supporters watch a fiesty game with several bookings for badly mistimed tackles on a nice sunny afternoon, with a breeze. HT 0-0. The goal when it cam was quality, Freekick from halfway, cross into box and volley into goal. Sfakera pushed forward and a great move gave John from Boathouse a chance but he fired well over. Two more good chances came in the final 5 minutes were missed. Visiting fans were noisy and randomly let off firecrackers, loud ones at that, throughout the game.
