Maybe not as bad as last week's storm, but Thursday is set to be very windy with gusts up to 50 km/h. It seems as though last week's episode caused little serious damage in the village - lots of rain, strong winds, but no major catastrophes. One of the unpredicatable things about winter's southeasterly winds is the way they affect Roda. Depending on the exact direction, they hit the Pantokrator mountain range and cause vortices to the north. Two weeks ago, with the wind blowing from the southeast, an old 'fridge on our balcony actually 'walked' 2 metres across the tiles in the wrong direction. The summer maistros are much more predictable.

Here are more photographs of Roda on Thursday, the day Lisa lost her Sky dish! These are taken by Dimitris from the Coral Hotel and I can just see our balcony in the first one. Hope all our things are OK, not forgetting Petra the dog who sleeps there!

Thanks John, Petra is one dog that doesn't mind getting wet. Being a setter, she's just after the birds! This was just before we left: Steve

Fantastic photos!
You just don't imagine Roda getting weather like that. Most of us only see it the one way.
Hope the dog is ok. As you say, she looks like she doesn't mind getting wet!

Hi Kelly - you can certainly try, but Petra's not used to being on a lead - she's a free spirit! If she sees a bird, she'll be gone and you hanging on behind. ;D

Hi John
I've seen really bad rain - I remember one year too, having hailstones (think that was September). Spiros was saying to my mum he'd never seen them b4 - must have been about 10 years ago.
I remember that year, cos it rained almost constantly for our whole fortnight. Only let up for about 4 or 5 hours every afternoon. lol
The whole road outside the Odyseus was flooded & everything.
It just looks worse in those pics! lol

Same here Jackie.....We have seen some really bad storms over the years. (I could write a book......lol). Hailstones as big as ice-cubes (really)......they actually made holes in the metal shutters on the front of Makis apts. Rain so bad one night when we were in the Harbour Bar, Spiros had to take us back to Spiros Banos apt in his car, it was impossible to walk. We (7 of us) were staying over his shop and woke up to find all the apartment flooded. Had great fun baling out......some of the shops on the front had to have the fire tenders to pump water out........but when the sun came out it was glorious as usual. (The calm after the storm)
