On June 6th, this was the cost of TWO coffees in the middle of Corfu Town's busy market - a Greek coffee and a freddo espresso, plus two glasses of water. It is thought that the Greek government have, or will, reduce the 23% tax on food items for the rest of the summer season. It will go down to 13%.

None of the restaurants put their prices up when the V.A.T. went up Gremlindog, in fact I can't remember when they last did go up, the owners all took a hit on their profits, so it seems only fair that they get some of it back through keeping the prices the same now that V.A.T. has been reduced, it's only a temporary measure as it is. I've not heard anyone complaining that the prices have not gone down. pete.
