The water here is chlorinated in the summer months for the benefit of tourism, Miki - but, perversely, the locals think it's only safe to drink in the winter when it is 'au naturelle!' (or is that eau naturel?) ... they do like natural products in Greece! The issue here has always been with the water having a high mineral content but, as I see it, so does bottled water. You should not need to worry about any of the occasional concerns about washed vegetables and ice cubes - there is rarely, if ever, a problem. We saw a six-pack of 1.5 litre bottles today for just 99 cents, and small bottles for just 15 cents each. We do buy bottled water, but. equally, we do drink tap water too.

Hi guys, I'm here in Roda from tuesday, but unfortunately we don't have internet acces. I write now from a free wifi hotspot, but i can't do that always. So, i wanna tell you i'm very, but very disappointed in Valentinos Apart. It's not a clean place. The towels are very old and with spots, the bathroom is not clean at all... And the internet network (wifi) it's working only into the patio. We all tried to talk with Adonis (the manager) but he's never here at the hotel. Excepting these problems, Roda it's just wonderfull. If i can, i post again these days

Miki, sorry to hear that the towels are old and that the bathroom is not very clean. Glad you are enjoying Roda itself though.
Maybe next time try and stay somewhere else. You will get some great recommendations on here.
Don't forget that you can spend the day or part of the day at any pool complex in the resort, even if you are not staying there. All they ask is that you do not take your own food and drinks in and buy refreshments from them.
Recommend trying the Theodorous pool, about 50 metres from the Valentinos, Nino's on the beach is, down towards the sea from the Valentino's. turn right and walk along the beach road for about 200 metres. Absolutely lovely.
Hope the rest of your holiday goes well.
Tony
p.s. Just for your info, The Valentino's Apartments are probably the cheapest accommodation you can book in Roda from the UK. Still, they should be clean!

Sorry to hear you're disappointed with Valentinos Miki.
My step son is there at the moment for the second year running and although it is basic accommodatio (and probably the cheapest in the village) he assures me that they are cleaned at least every three days.
I am also in Roda at the moment and have been using Valentinos pool, bar etc. Andreas is very friendly and am sure he would do all he can to make your stay a good one.

If you decide to return to Roda in the future go and have a look at Theodorus and the Angelinas just along the road from where you are now.

Corfu is always vulnerable to power cuts at any time of year. Last night's was a little strange as there was power at the Brandy Shop and from there on, the street lights were on in the harbour car park, and everything beyond El Mar was OK. It seems that it only involved a small swathe of properties including Makis Apartments, Five Roses, Jonathan's new bar and up to Valentino's. There was nothing that Valentino's could do personally until it was fixed by DEH. I hope everything is back to normal soon.

I remember back to the days when the power used to go all the time. Used to be fun, sitting around by candle-light! Just got to embrace these things, I think.

Quite agree Jackie - Have spent many a night in Greek Island resorts sitting in a bar by candle-light and still having a great time. Only problem was beer pumps go off and have to drink bottled beer - what a hardship! Top Tip - Take a small wind up or solar torch with you for such a power cut emergency - you can buy the for a little as 1 pound and at least you can see where you are going in and around your apartment!

Yeah - total hardship when the pumps go off!

There's a lesson there for you, always use a bar that has gas operated pumps not electric ones. pete.
