Hi all! I'm new to the forum so I hope I'm posting in the right area!! My partner and I are looking to book a holiday to roda, due to working in childcare I have to travel during August! I know it's rather busy at this time as it is peak season! I have read there are water sports available on the beach which is a huge plus for my partner as he is a big kid at heart! I'm looking at booking a package holiday from London gatwick probably towards the end of August, I'm just wondering if anyone could give my any advice on SC or B&B accommodation. We like to be close to the beach and town but don't mind a short walk! I'd prefer to be close to the water sports so I can lay on my sun bed while he plays around! Lol Also any general information on roda would be greatly appreciated! Our budget is around £500 for self catering and perhaps a bit more for B&B, we are looking to stay in roda for about 11 nights. Thank you all in advance and I hope I've given you enough info!! Thanks, Sophie x

Hi Lippylou & welcome to the forum, nowhere is far from the beach and the center of the village, have a look at the reviews under the accomodation section of the forum and have a look at the map of the village on the main web site. Feel free to ask as many questions as you like to help you get the best place for you, have a great holiday. pete.

Hi lippylou – welcome to the forum. Most of the general information should be in the main website, including a map, but if you want opinions about anything in particular, then ask here and people will help you. You’ll need to book early for late August so don’t delay … at least leaving from Gatwick will help. The place to start is 'Roda Pages' ( www.rodaonline.org/Roda-Pages/ ) where many of the accommodations are listed. There is also a chart on www.rodaonline.org/Roda-Pages/Accommodation-Chart/. Nowhere in Roda is too far from the beach and I think that Stamatis, who runs the Watersports, rents sunbeds too. Almost immediately behind the watersports is the Afrodite Hotel and further along to the east is Makis Apartments (Cosmos Holidays) – these two are the closest to the village beach. Within 2-4 minutes there is also Kostas Apartments, Nikos Apartments, Elenitsa (Olympic Holidays), Aspioti-Pipitsa, Eleni Apartments, Christofis, Spiggos, Panorama & Maritsas Apartments. Most of these last ones are independent of tour companies and many people visit Roda in that way. Prices quoted by independents will usually be ‘per room’ rather than per person, so make sure you ask. Roda is a very safe & friendly place and if you’ve never travelled independently, there is no better place to start. Most apartments will be self catering as there is such a good range of places to eat, and at affordable prices. Hope this helps … please ask our forum members about their experiences. Steve

Thank you Pete and Steve! I have been looking today at the afroditie hotel and also Elizabeth studios with Thomson! But I am still looking around! I would love to book independently but I am a born worrier and worried this will ruin my holiday! When I get home tonight I am going to sit down and take a proper look at this site and the forum entry's! I have found it at the right time! Thanks sophie x

Don't panic sophie, every thing is fine out there and the journey to Roda.....I travel alone now and have no fear....Yiannis from Roda Taxis picks me up and he is based right outside the Afroditi...look on transport on this forum and you can book on here too..also ask pegy from NSK travel............the Greek people in Roda are very friendly and I have known them for many years, you will be as safe as houses else I wouldn't return on my own, there are plenty of single visitors who go yr after yr....good luck, you'll be ok

I book independently every year now. Fly Easyjet from Manchester, book taxi with Yianni at Roda Taxis - can be emailed or phoned (he speaks impecible English) & someone will be waiting at the arrivals door, with your name on a banner. I stay with Makis - can be booked via email (though I know he is VERY busy next year, but it'd be worth emailing him). They are self catering studio or apartments - kettle, hob & grill and fridge. Beautiful, clean pool & bar - run by him & wife and his family. Lovely people.
Hope you enjoy your trip to Roda as much as we all do.

I think I am going to price up an independsnt holiday tonight and see how I get on! You have reassured me of my main concern about getting to and from the airport!! How do you all get back to the airport do you book a return taxi? How would I go about booking that too? I came across roda taxis on here earlier! I don't suppose anyone has any ideas on prices? Thanks Sophie x

that's not a problem Sophie..just speak to Yianni and it will all be sorted, I do......roughly 50 euros each way, well worth it, the travel agents bus took us 2hours to get to Roda last year and I said "never again"...taxi takes about 40-45mins................go for it sophie you won,t regret it..

So many of the people on this forum come to Roda independently, Sophie - for them, there is no other way. I would guess that most will feel more in control than travelling with an anonymous tour operator. Yiannis at Roda Taxis can be contacted through his website on rodataxi.com/. If there are only two of you, you may be able to further reduce the price by sharing with other people from this site. Steve
