Hi all, I'm new here *waves* We are trying to plan this years holiday in September for myself, hubby, 2 year old and in laws (one of which has some mobility problems) I came across Roda on a website and totally fell in love. I am determined that that's where we go now, woman on a mission! We usually go AI because it's easy to do and we know exactly what we are getting but the hotel I liked (Mitsis Roda Beach) is just slightly over budget Our budget is £500pp (£200 of which are flights) Is it possible to go B&B or half board somewhere nice in Roda and still be able to eat and drink for the week or is it best to stay AI? Also can anyone recommend where is nice? Thank you! Jemma

Welcome, if you are travelling with someone with mobility problems, then Mitsis Roda Beach is not for you unless you want to stay on site the whole holiday to go to and from the complex you will either need a car or use a taxi. The report from Mitsis is good, but there is the problem of access (steep road up and up!).
You should check out the various accommodations listed on this site and once you have a couple of favourites ask more questions.

Lovely thank you. I wasn't aware Mitsis Roda would be a problem, probably a blessing it is out of budget! Will check out the others!

Hiya! We will be going to Roda (again) this year (YAY!) and are staying at Fiona Theodorous. I suppose any accomodation is OK provided you can get ground floor...Theo would do whatever he could to help but I fear it is down to Olympic Holidays how the rooms are allocated. We always book what is called a 2 bedroom maizonette which is in a little block of 3 apartments in what looks like a bungalow by the pool, sleeping either 2 or 4/5 people. In the bigger style, there is a downstairs bedroom and an upstairs bedroom so that would guarantee you ground floor. With regard to All Inclusive, we would not do that as it tends to be detremental to the local restaurants and bars as people tend to stay on site. We usually spend about 40 - 50 euros on a meal for 4, just one course and wine. Beer is about 2 or 2.50 a pint. Wine is cheap. Imported drinks are, obviously, most expensive. Hope this helps! Nicola

Hello and welcome to the forum. There are a few places to stay in Roda where the accommodation is suitable for someone with mobility issues although I'm not sure if any of them offer B&B or half board. I know where I used to work at Alexandros Apartments & Swimming Pool we had downstairs rooms available which were used by guests with mobility issues although they are room only but do have a snack bar offering various food choices, Steve will know a lot more information about accommodations that offer what you're looking for. We are a friendly bunch here and happy to help where we can :-) Enjoy Roda it is very beautiful and will be missed by me very much this summer

Hi Jemma - welcome to the forum We were out in Roda in May and are going back out in September so may see you there It is very cheap to eat out in Roda and there is a lot of choice so you could probably go self catering on your budget. We paid around 5 euros (£4) for a cooked breakfast with tea, coffee, bread and jams etc and around 35 euros (£28) for 2 course evening meal for 2 with drinks so with soft drinks and snacks during the day around £23 p.p. then you just need to add your alcohol on top depending on how much you drink The Mitsis apartments are pretty central in Roda village and about 2 min walk to the beach but if you take a look at the accommodation page on the Roda site and see something you like just ask on the forum whereabouts it is. There are plenty of people here that can advise and help you. Carol

Hi avonjem, we stay at the Kosmas Apts, available through Olympic. They have 3-4 ground floor self-catering apts suitable for people with mobility problems. There is a lovely snackbar and huge pool with easy steps. The only thing, it is a 10-15min. walk into the village and the pavements are pretty rough, flat but encroaching on the road. We have never had trouble with walking along the road though. For Bed and Breakfast, have a look at the Aphrodite, I don't know who you can book through though. It is right on the front but I will say it can be noisy as it is on a corner that is also the taxi rank, bus turning point and near noisy bars. As to food and drinks cost, the prices are very reasonable in any of the Tavernas/Bars in the village. I don't know how they can do the meals at the prices they charge. Mythos is cheap and so is the local wine. Bev

Makis - amazing swimming pool/family/hospitality. Across the road from the beach & literally 30 seconds from the town. :-)

If you are looking for AI holiday and easy access for disabled. I stayed at the Roda garden village hotel 2 years ago. Even though we ate out most day's in the village through our choice not because the food wasn't very good at the hotel. We found it had ground floor rooms and there were 2 people in wheel chairs whilst we were there. We were on quite a low budget when we went of £1,000 for the holiday and a car and I did both with change too. We were worried about the reviews but we had no reason to be. We did have lots of evening meals at the hotel and I enjoyed most of it. But if you are like we were that year I cant say nothing really bad about this place for the price we paid . It is a little way from the village about a 5-10 minute walk depending how fast you walk but there are a few watering holes along the way. I too have mobility problems and we are staying at the next resort going into the village, which I found last year to be brilliant for me as we had a ground floor room too. That is the Venus apartments Hope you find somewhere and you enjoy Roda as much as we do
