Over the moon to see this morning that Tui are at long last offering direct flights from Dublin to Corfu. That is until I checked the price. 414 euro or 449 euro in mid-June, depending which week PER PERSON - that's flight only. Wonderful - are they seriously expecting people to pay nearly 1000 euro just for the flight - then add on travel to Dublin, apartment rental, general expenses? I could go for a month in Australia for less.

Hi Lisydaly, I was so pleased for you as i started to read your post, then it went downhill fast, ridiculous prices as you say, let's hope lack of demand will cause them to have a rethink on their charges although i won't hold my breath. pete.

We have similar problems with their prices from Scotland Lisydaly and they haven't brought them down

Seems to me that the various airlines have 'cottoned on' to the recent increase of holidaymakers making their own personal arrangements by booking their destination, accommodation, flights and transfers independently, rather than through 'package holidays' and, as a result, are taking advantage of this fact by 'hiking-up' their private flight prices! Is this just my cynical view - or do others agree with me? Chris

I think this is especially true where there are no other options Chris. We are travelling south where easyjet prices were less than half the price of Tui and Thomas Cook.

Oh - we can buy a package from Falcon Holidays (the Irish arm of Tui) for even more euro (nowhere in Roda though) not that I would even contemplate it. We are used to being ripped off here (prime example - I checked the price of a book yesterday for a friend who has no computer - £3.94 on amazon uk and 17.84 euro here - same paper back edition) but it doesn't mean we have to go along with it. At least the government scrapped the air tax so we only have to pay that from the UK. I'm waiting for Mr O'Leary to decide to fly direct from our local airport, Knock, to Corfu but not holding my breath.
