My partner and I are going to Roda next September and I would like some apartment recommendations please. Is there somewhere you've stayed where you had a fantastic time? Do you visit the same apartments every year because they're so good? If so, I'd love to hear about them. We're looking for a studio/apartment with a kitchen (basic is fine), not a hotel, and we'd like a pool and pool bar if possible. Thanks, Lynn

Hi Lynn & welcome to the forum. Everyone has their own favourites, there are lots of small complexes with pools and bars, there is Nino's on the beach, Venus, Makis, Theo's, Panorama/Thalasea, Alexandros, Melinda, Kosmas, Roda Oasis, Spiros number1 and others. Have a look at the various reviews under the accomodation section on here, there is a map of the village on the main web site so you can see where they all are. Feel free to ask any questions that you may have about the village, bars, restaurants, shops daytrips etc. Hope this has been of some help. pete.

I had thought of Nino's, Lynn, so I spoke to Danny yesterday. They do have a two-ring cooker, and a toaster, but no oven or grill. You will find at least these facilities in all the complexes with pools and some, like Theodoros I think, have microwaves also. If you are trying to be careful with spending money, don't forget also that we have a couple of grill rooms in the village where you can buy a 'giros pitta' for about €2 - excellent value and very filling.

- Kosmas
- Roda Oasis

I stayed at Alexandros, it has small oven with two rings on top. Sorry can't quite remember but think there was a toaster (could be wrong though). There is also usual fridge and kettle etc...

I notice that Elizabeths never get a mention on here, they have one of the best pools in the area, the new apartments are great, a very good bar, and nice garden.

Easy to find accommodation with pools and pool bars, but Lynn wants to know about the cooking facilities. It would be good to make a definitive list of these, right through the village. Going back to the original list, can people tell us what they remember about cooking amenities?

Villa Eleni Have a two ring mini oven and grill in the one room studios and a bigger oven in the 2 room apartments. Although they don't have a pool and bar clients can use the Panorama facilities next door or the Aphrodite hotel facilities

when we first went to roda in the 80"s we had a pan as big as a dustbin lid and one ring, i think most appts have not bad cooking facilities these days, we have stayed at most of them over the years and seen them improve

OK Kosmas has two rings and a small oven/ grill plus kettle and domestic size fridge Metallinos has the same as does the Panorama but no grill The Fiona had two rings, oven, grill, toaster, and microwave and two kettles. The Oasis apartments have just two rings, fridge and kettle. Cooking utensils tend to be very basic and minimum, as is crockery. My advice, if you do want to cook, is to take a sharp knife, tin and bottle opener, and a small amount of salt and pepper. Very dear to buy for the amount you will need. Also bring tea and coffee, dear in Roda. Coffee and sugar sachets, and individual portions of jam, honey, etc and butter are about 10 - 20 cents each. Much cheaperr than buying jars or packets of butter if only for a few people. Also most places don't have mugs. So if you want something bigger than a small teacup bring a cheap mug. Enjoy Roda, might see you around as I will be there in September, though still to book flights. But unless you want to feed children or are on a tight budget it is cheap enough to eat out all the time.
